The ritual went awry and something went dreadfully wrong; Velvet striking Arthur though not killing him and then tumbling into the pit and was mistakenly eaten by Innominat, who promptly spit her out. Innominat was now free but since it failed to consume Laphicet, it was uncontrollable and left Artorius.
The plan was in ruins.
Velvet had half-survived... and half-died, being put into this strange existance and became a Malakhim, but a malakhim already affected by the daemonblight. She was first used by the Abbey to understand how to fully control the Malak's and suppress their will and personality and one would think she'd be handed over to Artorius... but he didn't want her. Her empty expression disturbed him and distracted him.
She was instead passed to Eleanor to serve her as a combat Malakhim specializing specifically in fire and melee combat under the name 'Proto-1'.
But there was a hitch in all of this.
Laphicet's spirit, not consumed by Innominat, was reborn in the body of a young, golden-haired malakhim, but he was missed by the Abbey. Memories fully intact, he hopes he'll find his sister and help her... wherever she is.

Inspired by several scenes in Tales of Berseria, one being Velvet absorbing Seres, another being how emotionless Laphicet acts and wondering how it would look if Velvet was the one acting like that and Laphi was the one with the emotions. One thing lead to another and here we are.
I'd be playing the role of Velvet primarily, the other person could play laphi and we could both use whatever characters we wanted.
