Realistic or Modern T R U S T: The Game [ OOC ]

I don't really have time to write a post atm, but Gregory would be too scared to go along the path alone, and be afraid of falling off the gate if he were to climb it (he's terrible when it comes to physical things), so he'd probably attempt to break the lock on the gate with a rock or something. He go along the path with someone else, though (doesn't mean he wouldn't be looking back and forth every second to make sure nothing's hiding in the bushes though lol)

Actually - on second thought, while I do think it's much more likely for Mick to take the path, it'll also heavily depend on how this goes/who goes where. He would want to get out of the cold, but also could be tipped off into going down the path. From what I can see, they might not even notice the path.

Is a final answer required now or could I give one when they've actually reached the gate in RP?

You can go ahead and give one when they've reached the gate. :-)

That was my first thought too. Also...something to do with the gate perhaps? The cable car?
Could also be a cable car, maybe it breaks while the last person goes on it? Would be kind of disappointing though, to be the last person to cross and then being killed off before anything really happens.

Yeah! I would at least like the group to make it out of the cable car and preferably to their destination but who knows!! Anything can happen!!

Once watched the chipper, go-get-em character die by being the first to do something relatively harmless. I believe it was crossing a shallow river on stones. Anyways she "fearlessly jumped" but rolled a poor number and cracked her head open

Considering the secret message referring to the cable car, 'Do not take it', it likely has to do with he cable car.
I interpreted that as "Do not take it" as in the road less traveled/"the road not taken", meaning the overgrown path. It gave me immediate anxiety lol where does it go ??? I do not know, my friend. I cannot save my reckless boy.

It's explicitly telling us that other path is safer, maybe in the terms that you won't get tetanus or cut yourself, but it's a path that no one uses (there has to be a reason), it goes "far to the left" of the gate (get away from the others, bad things?). I'd stick with the gate, it's rusty and locked shut, kinda flimsy. it doesn't want us to take it, therefore we take it. besides, who wants to be on a random path in the rain?

edit: not raining yet, but it'll start up sooner or later

I think more so the struggle is - does the story expect us to choose which option we, as the author, think is the safest, or to choose truly which option our character would feasibly pick in this situation based on their characterization. I think there are positive and negative factors to both the gate and the path, though the hidden message freaks me out. Who knows, my guy. Who knows.

probably the characterization, as it's no fun watching a movie where no one makes mistakes. still, it's fun to over-analyze, which the hidden message was probably encouraging. wouldn't be too surprised if there wasn't anything particularly bad on either path and the message and choice is just there to freak us out

Oh, wait, I get it. I think.
The poem is describing the two paths (albeit both as trails, not a gate and a path.) At the end, it says this: "Scale the gate, or take another, safer path". It's trying to trick us into thinking that the path is the safer choice, but the message is telling us to not take it. Therefore, despite looking more dangerous, the cable car is the actual safe path to take. At least...I think that logic makes sense. Additionally, the poem author states that taking the one less traveled made all the difference, though the poem stops before we know if this difference is good or bad.
Although the title still makes me uncertain about the safety of the cable car...Either way, I'll probably go with what Gregory would realistically choose.
EDIT:
I mean, I could be completely wrong...these are just the thoughts that went through my head as I analyzed the poem & situation lol

i think the poem is always cut off. the rp may be going with this version of the poem, but i remember seeing somewhere how the person in the poem takes the road less travelled and then regrets takking it, or at least wonders what would've happened if they took the other path
edit: basically a life choice where you go "what if" after the fact

I agree. Of course, fundamentally, I'm always just going to write what Mick would realistically do. His inclinations and decision making doesn't have anything to do with me in a great sense. The secret message just changed some things for me, because now I know something that Michael doesn't, if that makes any sense.

Actually, the poem doesn't go any further than what was posted on the in character thread.

Oh, also, if the destination requires a cable car to get to, wouldn't going on a path that takes you far away from said cable car be a bad idea...? I'd think that means that you wouldn't be able to enter the place by doing that.

Aren't our characters on the cable car now and are approaching the gate and the path?

Instead of the last person dying on the cable car, I'd imagine it perhaps means that the cable car will somehow creepily get wrecked right after everyone gets there/starts the party and they'd discover it when they try to head home or something. And then the reception fades, and then they all realize they are fucked and now have to actually listen to the box.

Wow I really enjoy reading all these "conspiracy theories" you guys! :coolshades::ghostuvu:

And yes! Everyone should take the cable car to be able to go to Emmie's lodge! The Event pertains only to the two paths (trail or gate) that your character can choose. :-)
