Bergen of the House Adair, The First of Her Name
Private Game with @mayaayam

"Attention passengers, we will be docking momentarily. Please prepare to disembark."

Des'amesea blinked drowsily as the announcement startled him from his doze; first his rear eyes, set along his temple, and then his larger fore-eyes. He had woken from Cryostasis the day before and was still a bit woozy and weak. Six years was a long time to be asleep.

He glanced out the window at the surface of the orb which had been getting closer all day. It started out blue, so blue--almost 70% of the planet was covered in water--broken by white clouds and the shapes of seven continents bursting with strange flora and fauna. He got a bit breathless with excitement every time he thought about it. Now it was a patchwork of vegetation and city, interspersed with pockets of water as they neared the landing site.

He placed the required mask over his face as the shuttle's shadow showed stark on the landing strip. This atmosphere was too low in oxygen content for the Elgok to breathe.

"Please line up at the bay doors for arrival."

The doors opened, and the first rush of air was cool and dry on Des'amsea's skin. The airstrip faced the enormous domed structure of their residence here, and a group of natives met the disembarking Elgok to escort them.

The humans were smaller than the Elgok, the tallest reaching only to Des'amsea's shoulder. They did not speak to the explorers, and there was uncertainty in the single pair of eyes of each of them.

Des'amsea lifted his mask for a moment, breathing in a deep gulp of Earth's air. It was thin, dry, and full of unfamiliar smells.

And it was wonderful.

The halls of the dome were silent except the tapping of her feet as she makes her way out to the airstrip nearby. She holds her notepad and files close to her chest while her mind is a million miles away.

"Today is the day. I, Melani Benan, will be one of the first to communicate with a life form from another planet!" She thought as she makes a turn into another hallway. It was so exciting for her. She spent years in school to learn about the human mind and now she is going to discover the wonders of an alien's mind. It was like a new puzzle that no one has solved yet. A smile starts to creep up on her lips.

She couldn't even sleep the night before as she wondered what the new life form would look like. "Would they be slimy? Will the have long tentacles? I wonder if they can speak English. Could they possible have some kind of super powers??"

The curiosity was killing Melani and it made her walk even faster than before. She soon reached a large steel door with a glowing exit sign above it. She stops and adjusts herself. Melani wanted her new guests to get the first impression that she's calm and safe. She straightens out her dress shirt and brushes off any dust from her slacks. Inhale... exhale.

"Here we go" She softly says as she pushes through the door and was welcomed by a gust of wind and clear blue skies. She made it just in time. The airship was about its landing. Melani hurries to the rest of the group and watch with anticipation. The group makes its way closer to the ship as soon as the door slowly opens, revealing the passengers. Her eyes widen as she caught a glimpse of their appearance. There they are. These we the...

"The Elgok!" She blurts out with absolute astonishment.

Des'amsea (and several others) turned curiously at the sudden sound. He hadn't noticed the small figured lined up beside the landing strip. Humans, he knew, wearing a variety of skin coverings in whites and greys and blacks. Their faces also came neutrally colored, and brown, white, beige, and black faces peered at the newcomers curiously with a single set of forward facing eyes, and the newcomers peered back.

Like the Elgok they appeared to be mammals, and had a thick patch of fur on their heads where the Elgok had long tentacles.

Both parties ogled one another for a few moments before they were told to keep moving--all interaction was to be kept on-base.

"Those are their scientists I suppose," Neramnet murmured to Des'amsea, who looked over his shoulder at the group which was coming in through a different entrance.

"We're supposed to meet with them, one on one. I'm nervous, aren't you?"

"I'm not," Rukralep interjected, "there will be a translation device. I am sure we will be able to communicate our peaceful intentions."

Neramnet didn't seem convinced, and Des'amsea rested his large, four-fingered hand on his friend's shoulder.

"Worry not. They have come to make peace with us."

He hoped his faith was not misplaced.

((Sorry for the long wait, I'm traveling and have spotty wifi this week))
