The NerveGear Headset released today. As Bruce slipped on the sleek headset, he wondered if it would be as revolutionary as the advertisements said. As he pressed the power button and the visor slid over his eyes, he wondered if he was one of the first few hundred to use this so-called 'incredible' device. As his vision went dark, and then exploded in a brilliant swirl of lights, Bruce felt the excitement mount in his chest. Then a sudden nothingness.
When Bruce came to, he was no longer in his small apartment on the edge of New York City. Instead, he was in a massive city square, surrounded by thousands of other people. A huge clock tower dominated the skyline, and around him people chattered in confusion. Looking down at himself, he realized that he was no longer an average-sized guy in his late twenties, but instead a huge man with muscles rippling beneath the fabric of his tunic.
"Holy shit..." Bruce murmured. His words were drowned out by the chatter of others.
Suddenly, a voice boomed over the square, deep and commanding, silencing the crowd. A giant holographic screen appeared in the air, displaying a face that Bruce, along with everyone else, recognized immediately: Kayaba Akihiko, the creator of NerveGear and the mastermind behind this world...
