Mama Kraken

My name is Jordan, or Mama Kraken for those who know me (apparently I turn into the kraken when I'm angry).

I'm new to this website (obviously) but have been role playing for over six years now. So a little about me I guess? I'm 19, going to college full time for my Associats Degree and also work as a receptionist six days a week.

So I spend my freed time hiking with my dog(Osiris), pretending I'm a writer but never actually working on my books and obsessing over TV shows.

So stay and chat if you want to. If not then hello and goodbye

Big time. Could tell you anything about Greek mythology. Some of Egyptian. Some of Norse. Wanted to learn celtic as well.

Awesome! I'm mostly big on Greek and Egyptian hence my dogs name.

So what is your favorite story/tale out if all of them?

I know I read about him before but I can't quite remember. Wasn't he the musician that traveled to the underworld to get his wife?

Yes. Yes he was. The only person who managed to convince Hades to give a soul another chance. He messed that one up big time.

Yes, yes he did. He was only human though, can't say I wouldn't do the same.

I get what your saying. I suppose I would be extremely curious too that it would hurt, yet its okay to turn around when they reached the surface, so I think I could hold it until then although it would eat at me inside.

Very true, he didn't have that much longer before they both would have been home free. After all even if Hades was tricking him it wouldn't of made a difference in regards to him getting his wife back.

The underworld is actually quite fascinating, since its the neutral territory for all those that have passed on. There is no heaven or hell in Ancient Greek culture, but Hades. Most of the shades, the denizens of Hades just sorta wander around and hang out. The evil ones do receive some sort of cruel punishment, usually off in another section of Hades. Then there is Elysium, the nicer part of Hades that heroes go to. It's basically an expensive, fancy gated community haha. Interesting to note that in Dante's Inferno, Limbo is actually quite like Elysium, in many respects, and Dante places many of the ancient Greek philosophers there, which can be taken as poetic or cruel, depending on how you look at it. In one sense, they are in hell which is surprising because at this circle, they have literally done nothing wrong except being ignorant of God when they were alive, since Christianity came after them. In another sense, they imagined their afterlife, the ideal one that they would be underground in the earth (hell), with green fields, light, in a nice home with food and wine. In this case they get a castle. So he is basically giving them their imagined heaven. Take it as you will, I just thought it was an interesting tidbit, although I do realize I've gone on a bit of a tangent.
