”I was raised a warrior, not a princess. To the very end I will rely on my skills and my blade to get things done. If I need to know about politics, I’ll ask my sister, Era… Oh, and stay away from Cheyenne altogether if you value your life.”
Description: Josephine is Era’s identical twin, born only a few minutes after her slightly older sister. The only major differences between Era and Josephine are their eye and hair color, as well as their voice types. Whereas Era’s hair is a deep violet, Josephine’s is a more indigo/ocean blue. Era’s eyes are gray, and Josephine’s are more a deep violet like her sister’s hair. Era’s voice type is that of a true Soprano, and Josephine’s is a Mezzo-Soprano. Besides these two physical and vocal differences, they look exactly the same in terms of their facial structure, height, and general body type. Both are well tall with long legs and well endowed chests, and both sport long straight hair which falls down to the lower back just above the hips. They have soft looking shoulders, long slender arms, and curves in all the right places where one would expect of two princesses of the most powerful nation in the land.
What makes Josephine unique from her sister beyond the few minor physical and vocal differences is her athleticism. Josephine’s musculature is soft at first glance, but the moment she flexes her musculature instantly makes itself known. Her muscles are very well defined underneath that soft layer of skin.The areas most well defined are her stomach, her back, and her legs. Her arms are slightly less defined, but nonetheless very powerful for a young woman her age and size. Josephine’s philosophy of training was to make her kicks as fast and accurate as her punches, and her punches as powerful as her kicks. She has managed to accomplish the first part, but her punches still lack the kick (pun intended) of her actual kicks. Because the musculature size difference, it’s no surprise that her punches aren’t as strong as her kicks. But it is that attitude and determination to reach for such levels of physical fitness that make Josephine a dangerous combatant despite her youth. A common notion and joke among the nobility and Queen’s Knight is that Josephine could very well be counted among their ranks if she didn’t already hold the title of “Princess”. Josephine doesn’t seem to mind the idea, since she knows she’ll not likely become queen.
Beyond the musculature and physical fitness, Josephine is still a sight to behold. She has a beautiful face, entrancing eyes, a voluptuous form, and all the best traits a woman could ask for. She is blessed with a high level of intelligence, and that has helped her develop an unshakable level of confidence in herself and her abilities. She walks at all times like a warrior, with her head up, chest out, and a powerful sense of purpose in her stride. Her clothing is loose fitting and informal, meant for practical application and flexibility so she can exercise her martial arts to the fullest without being restrained by inflexible fabrics. She can most commonly be seen wearing a black jacket with a good sized collar, charcoal gray undershirt, a brown belt with a silver buckle, black pants, and charcoal gray boots with reinforced toes and heels. All in all, she’s one badass Princess whom nobody in their right mind would anger.

Current Relationships:
* Father - Leonard Falenas
Josephine’s relationship with her father is one of respect, admiration, and loyalty beyond measure. Her father was the one who convinced the courts that Josephine should live despite being the younger of the twin sisters, as the throne only needed one heiress. He was the one who named her, and the one who raised her while Myra focused on grooming Era for the throne. Teaching Josephine the ways of the warrior, her father instilled in her a sense of bravery, compassion, determination, and unshakable resolve even in the face of overwhelming odds.
* Mother - Myra Falenas
As a young girl, Josephine spent very little time with her mother. She occasionally saw her during her birthday, as she was allowed to meet with and spend time with her sister as well. But overall Josephine feels very little connection to her mother. As the years have gone by Myra has seen the error of the separation of the two girls as well as her own exclusion from Josephine’s life. She regrets having gone this route, and is attempting to make amends. However, she is seeing little success thus far.
* Elder Sister - Era Falenas
Era’s relationship with Josephine is… shaky. Both of them know of each other and respect one another as family. But the problem is that the were separated at birth and raised in two very different environments. One was raised a Princess, the other a warrior. They share blood, but no common ground. While they can be in the same room and speak with respect and grace, they speak in monotone to one another as they feel no connection to each other.
* Younger Sister - Cheyenne Falenas
Cheyenne is Josephine’s closest friend, and is the one whom she shares the strongest bond with in her entire family to an even greater extent than that which she shares with her father. The reason is because Cheyenne saved her life, both literally and figuratively, when they were younger. Josephine at first felt a tremendous sense of guilt and debt for Cheyenne’s actions and words, but over time it changed to a very powerful sisterly love. Josephine’s devotion to her sister is the most powerful force driving Josephine’s heart, and she protects her sister with her life as a second bodyguard. Nikki, Cheyenne’s true bodyguard and a Queen’s Knight, feels completely at ease leaving Cheyenne in Josephine’s care whenever the need arises because of this.
* Aunt - Ilyana Falenas
Josephine has very little in the way of a relationship with her aunt, as she’s only seen her twice since she was young. She knows of her aunt’s existence, and remembers well what she looks like. But outside of that, there is nothing special about their relationship.
* Uncle - Byron Falenas
Much like her aunt, Josephine has little to no relationship with her uncle. Both of them live in Raftfleet, which is always on the move and thus Josephine has not seen either of them in a long time. She does not dwell on relationships which are not consistent.
* Cousin - Estelle Falenas
Josephine’s relationship with her elder cousin Estelle is one of friendly rivalry. Both are trained in the art of the warrior, and both have trained together before and it has become something of a tradition for the two of them to fight the moment they see each other for the first time after a long separation to test their skills and respective progress.
* Cousin - Ian Falenas
Ian is Josephine’s cousin from her uncle’s side of the family, and she has not seen him in a long time. Ian is not trained in the art of the warrior, and is instead being groomed as a political in the making. He has a good head for politics already, and is quite the little tactician and negotiator. But between him and Josephine, there is next to no relationship. They acknowledge each other as blood, but that’s as far as it goes.
Personality: If it was possible to sum up Josephine’s personality in a single word, it would be: Tough.
Josephine is as tough as they come for various reasons. The fact that she was trained exhaustively by her father in the harshest and most thorough ways he could think of as Commander of the Queen’s Knights ensured that she became a powerful combatant by an early age. Even at only eight years old she was able to hold her own against young teenagers who were also well trained in combat. Her physical and mental toughness comes from the fact that her father never let her give up, never let her say “I can’t”, and never allowed her to focus on pain. She learned early on how to block it out through meditative exercises, even in the middle of training. Josephine has trained through broken fingers, toes, and a few cracked ribs with no difficulty whatsoever. She has learned to block out pain so completely (as long as the wound is not inherently or potentially lethal) that the Queen’s Knights gave her the nickname “Ori”, a reference to the legendary metal Orichalcum which is unbreakable. She wears that nickname with pride whenever conversing or training with the Queen’s Knights.
Josephine’s heart and mind are not unified, and it shows. She has very poor social skills, having been raised as a warrior above all else by her father. She was taught about being compassionate to her allies and ruthless to her enemies, taught to control her anger, bury her sorrow, and let loose her fury when the time is right. As a warrior, she embodies all that is desired in those who take the title for their own. But as a human, she is sorely lacking. Though she can hold intelligent conversation, her ability to sympathize and empathize with others is next to nothing. She was observed returning from a border skirmish once, and an elderly woman asked if her son, who was an ally of hers, had survived. She told the elder woman with no emotion whatsoever that her son was among the casualties, and despite the woman’s tears and questions, she walked on without any further words spoken. Yet when she returned to the palace to rest, she could be heard crying in her room. One thing her father never taught her properly was how to keep one’s emotions in check and unified, so that even at the risk of appearing outwardly weak, your heart’s courage and strength shine through. She believes that courage must be at the forefront, and that sorrow and fear be kept at bay and hidden from prying eyes.
Quirks: Josephine has an almost childlike curiosity, and can sometimes do childish things when pursuing something which has caught her interest such as crawling along the ground on her stomach to follow an insect or lizard, or perhaps climbing a tree to get a closer look at a small animal and even chasing it through the trees just for fun. This quirk was born of the fact that she didn’t have much of a childhood, having been trained as a warrior nonstop by her father, and thus her suppressed child-like instinct to explore and investigate are coming to the surface in these years of peace.
Strengths:
* Unfathomably powerful and skilled for her age, easily matching the Queen’s Knights in raw skill
* Heavily devoted to her family
* Highly perceptive and intelligent
* Can easily assess another individual’s fighting capability at a glance
Weaknesses:
* Child-like curiosity
* Lacks proper social skills
* Lacks political understanding
Biography: As the slightly younger twin by a matter of minutes to Era Falenas, Josephine is the mirror image of her sister in many ways. But more on that later. When Josephine was born, it came as a shock to the family and nobility. The announcement of a second child, indeed another female child, was kept secret from the public and Josephine’s existence denied to anyone outside of those closest to the Royal Family and the Queen’s Knights. Josephine was almost done away with at the behest of the nobility, but her father Leonard prevented this by taking her under his wing and training her as he would any member of the Queen’s Knights. Or so he proclaimed. It was agreed that her existence and relationship to Era would remain confidential, otherwise turmoil over who had the greater right to ascend the throne during the next cycle of the Sacred Games could be dangerous. Once the decision was made, the two sisters’ paths were forever set in stone by the family. Era would be groomed for the throne, and Josephine the battlefield. And so as soon as she could walk, her father began to train her to fight and think like a member of the Queen’s Knights. Though she would never join their ranks, she could be allowed to fight beside them in time and that is exactly what she did.
During Josephine’s earliest years, she was given a few basic necessities. She had her room in the palace, separate from Era’s. She had a rack of wooden weapons (so as not to cut herself on a real blade). She had a meditation circle etched in the floor. And she had full attendant service for her meals throughout the day. Study time came everyday at noon to three in the afternoon, during which time she would study history, basic math and science, basic politics (though she never liked this one), and basic social interaction and language skills. When she was not studying, she was either meditating or practicing with her father in the Palace Courtyard. The clash of wood and steel could be heard nearly all hours of the day, as Josephine was born a natural fighter with a highly competitive nature. She wanted to become strong enough to defeat her father, and though she never achieved this even in the present day, she still has that as her ultimate goal. Even at the tender ages of 3-6 years, she was determined to one day outperform her father. She would even say so to his face during training, “One day I will defeat you father!”, to which he could only laugh and encourage her.
Josephine’s pre-teen years were some of the most confusing in her life, for both serious and rather comical reasons. Josephine’s first period began at the age of twelve, just before she turned thirteen. Her mother and sister both ensured her that it was normal, but she was NOT happy about being made to bleed when not struck by a weapon of some kind. This development, which her mother taught her was called “puberty”, was a highly confusing and frustrating development for her. Her breast size increasing, her hips filing out, her body experiencing large growth spurts… All of it was just a hindrance to her training. Stopping training during that time of the month was infuriating, but it was mandated by her father, and so she obeyed and replaced sparring with meditation. But the breast issue was the biggest issue, quite literally. Both she and her sister experienced a similar breast growth rate, but between the two Josephine’s are slightly larger and reached their full size a bit sooner. She was a full 35D by the time she was seventeen years old.
As Josephine grew into her body, by age fifteen or so she began to fill out not only as a woman, but as a warrior. Her musculature finally managed to reach a level where it could develop fully and properly, preventing her from training long hours for little to no gain. Her height increased, as did the length of her legs and arms extending her reach. At 5’ 11”, she has the arm reach of someone who is 6’ 2” and her long legs ensure she can build up incredible momentum and kinetic force with each kick. Her hand-eye coordination began to skyrocket, ensuring that her accuracy as a fighter was at its peak. Her capacity for controlling her emotions rose, as did her mental control over other desires for just about anything else, especially sexually. Josephine discovered at around this time as well that she was physically attracted to both men and women almost equally, with women taking a slight lead. This disturbed her slightly, as she knew it was taboo for women to lust after other women. She kept this aspect of her sexuality to herself, but every so often she found herself admiring the female form of one or two of the palace attendances or maids, and today that trend continues when she admires the form of women she passes on the road or in the cities she visits.
Josephine continued to develop into her body as the years progressed, and by the time she hit age nineteen she was fully developed and already a seasoned combatant.The reasons for her familiarity with the battlefield remain a mystery to all except for her father and the Queen’s Knights who have fought beside her. Even the highest of nobility do not know why she is so adept at combat. But for those who know the truth, it’s almost frightening just how adept she truly is. Her father, having once been a member of one of the most powerful assassin organizations on the planet, had trained her with all of his knowledge and experience to become just what he had been made to become. However, he did so without the mental destruction which had been used on him which made him little more than a powerful killing machine. No. He raised his daughter well, and ensured she’d never see that darker side of what the human body and mind could bring. But nevertheless, her training exceeded the intensity and ferocity of the Queen’s Knight’s training by a fairly substantial margin. In full contact sparring matches, she has only ever been defeated by two members of the Queen’s Knights: Her father, and her father’s oldest friend Zenn. The rest of the Queen’s Knights are unable to defeat her, though a few have come close.
And finally… the part about her life which she wishes she could forget.
When Josephine was twelve years old, not long before hitting puberty, she experienced one of the major flaws of attraction to another human being. She ended up being attracted to a member of the Palace Guard, and when she approached him about her attraction he took advantage of her. Because of her age and size, she could do nothing against the man’s strength. However, before the worst could happen, Cheyenne, Josephine’s younger sister, burst into the room with her Queen’s Knight body guard Nikki who promptly took care of the matter at hand. Josephine had never been so frightened in her life, and of all people to come and save her it was the one whom she had always treated like dirt. For her entire life, Cheyenne was nothing to her. Just a child born by mistake who would never amount to anything or ever even come close to being in line for the throne. Josephine had never been kind to her, so when Cheyenne asked if she was all right Josephine could only ask “why?”. Cheyenne’s response was so simple, but so impactful that Josephine broke down and cried her eyes out.
“I love you, Josephine. You’re my family.”
Josephine had been trained to block out pain and sorrow, but never in her life did she fell less like a human being than in that moment. All her life she’d been rude, abrasive, and disrespectful to Cheyenne. Yet here she was carrying every right to hate Josephine, but instead she still loved her and said she was family. Josephine pulled Cheyenne to her chest and cried, holding her sister for dear life having been so humbled by the little girl’s bravery. Josephine was the one being trained to become a warrior, and here she was overpowered by a simple Palace Guardsman who was nearly able to get away with taking advantage of her. Cheyenne’s interference stopped the worst from happening, but he was able to get far enough for Josephine to have felt true fear and violation at the hands of another human being. From this day forward, Josephine treated her sister with proper respect and grace, and did everything she could to ensure she was healthy and happy as penance for her past treatment of her. But Cheyenne never asked for such things, nor did she want it. She wanted Josephine to be happy and healthy, and so the two sisters formed a powerful bond of friendship as well as family of rate first time. As the years progressed, Josephine’s love of her sister and her dedication to protecting her at all costs increased greatly. She and her sister are close enough now, and Josephine strong enough now that Nikki feels completely at ease about Princess Cheyenne’s safety so long as Josephine is in the general vicinity.
And so we come to the present day where Josephine continues to train and better herself as a human being in preparation for the next Sacred Games which take place in only two month’s time. Her sister Era’s future husband shall be decided, but due to the current political unrest and division among the three Senate Factions, Josephine knows that trouble is likely to ensue. But just how much trouble? She can only guess, and hope that whatever her expectations are will not be met. But if anyone brings her family to harm or presents a threat, she will be there to do whatever she must to deal with it. She knows that her father and the Queen’s Knights are there and will provide adequate protection, but there are some dangers a blade cannot defend against. The previous Sacred Games to determine her mother’s husband went off without too much of a hitch, but there were still a few cheaters and foul play among the competitors. With Era’s hand on the line, and the Senate Factions more divided than ever and hungry for power, there was no telling how brutal this would become.
