Student teacher love affair ~ @lapis and @CherryBlossom

Name: Ryan Matthews

Age: 21 (a bit young for a teacher, but fits with a back story I have in mind for him)

Appearence: He's tall, standing at 6"2. He's lean, but not skinny, nicely muscled and with a nice golden tan. His hair is light brown with gold-ish strands, short and slightly curly (wavy). His eyes are dark brown, with gold speckles in them.

Ryan grabbed the worksheets from his desk and left the teacher's lounge. He always came to the classroom cabinet early, to get a chance to get things ready for class. Running a hand through his hair, he put down the papers onto the desk. He could hear the students talking and laughing through the door. As the bell rang, he went into the classroom, and everyone stopped talking and went to their places, standing up. He looked at the students - all books and other items on the desks, all in matching uniforms and in a tidy classroom. The school had strict rules for both teachers and students.

"Good morning," he said loudly enough for everyone to hear. "Good morning profesor Matthews," came an answer. He nodded and said "You may sit," as it was tradition, and the students sat down in silence, waiting for class to begin.

Indie sighed as she walked to school. She was running late. Again. She had been up pretty much the entire night looking after her little brother who was sick because her parents were away, once again. She glanced at her watch and groaned, Mr Matthews was going to kill her for being late again. She made her way to class and quickly walked in, just after Mr Matthews told everyone that they could sit. ''I'm so sorry I'm late sir.'' she said quickly before she rushed off to her seat, hoping that he would let it slide this time. Indie took a seat in the back like she usually did and grabbed her notebook and pen and got ready to start the lesson. She wished she was at home though, she was far too tired to be in an English lesson right now.

Ryan narrowed his eyes at Indie. "You're late." He looked down and grabbed a piece of chalk. "Again." Walking over to the board, he wrote down the title of the homework. "Pressure of society. You must write at least a 3 page essay on how you think society affects a person with it's rules and demands, and what can make one defy these rules. Due in one week." He put down tne chalk and handed out the worksheets to a girl in the front row. "Pass these out, please." He took a seat, looking at the computer to check in if anyone was missing class.

Indie sighed ''Sorry sir, I had to drop my four year old brother off at nursery so that's why I'm late.'' she told him. Her teachers never understood because they assumed that her parents were always home but in actual fact it was rare if they were home. It also annoyed her a little how Mr Matthews, or should she say Ryan pretended like they had never met, even when no one else was around. They were friends for a few years when their families lived next door to each other. She moved and then that was the end of that. It was pretty sad in a way, they were once really good friends. Now he's her teacher that seemed to hate her, just like all the others did. When he assigned the essay she sighed. She hated essays. Especially when getting them done is incredibly hard when Tyler, her brother is around. He either wants to play or to have food or do something so the only time she gets is when he goes to bed and then she ends up working to god knows when and then she gets to school late. She was glad she would be graduating soon though. She grinned when it was the end of the lesson and stood up, grabbing her bag and waiting to be dismissed. She had a free period and planned on catching up on her sleep for an hour.

Ryan lifted an eyebrow as the students started to leave. Many women, teachers and students alike, thought that this was one of his most charming features. He followed Indie with his eyes. God, has she changed since she moved. He remembered her from when she was younger. "Indie, may I have a word with you?" He shook his head slightly, not enough for anyone to notice, to get rid of the memories and clear his head.

Indie rolled her eyes when he lifted his eyebrows to indicate they could leave. He always did it because girls and woman found it attractive. She did at one point think it was but now it just annoys her. She sighed when Ryan asked her to stay behind. She hated when this happened because it just reminded her of how much he had changed, how different he was now and how she would never get her best friend back because of the fact that he was her teacher. "I would say no but I don't really have a choice in the matter do I?" She said, folding her arms over her chest as she stood at the back of the class room behind her seat. She just hoped that what ever he wanted would be over quickly so she could go and sleep.

Ryan looked up at her and tryed opening his mouth, but nothing came out. He just sat there for a brief second, looking at Indie. She definetly didn't get enough -if any- sleep, that was for sure. His voice was less cold then the one he used in class. "Is everything ok?"

Indie sighed when his voice changed to one that was much nicer than the one he used in class. It confused her because it made him seem like he cared even though she knew that he didn't. After she had left she tried keeping in contact, calling him, writing to him, doing anything to make sure they kept their friendship but then she got nothing back so she guessed that he never really cared and that he didn't enjoy their friendship as much as she did. ''Apart from the fact that I was up all night taking care of a four year old instead of sleeping then yes. Can I go now?'' she asked. Her face was blank, no emotions showing because she didn't want him to know that really the fact he acted like her never knew her hurt her.

"Your parents weren't home?" He said in a lower voice. Oh boy, she really didn't seem to like him. He remembered they used to be friends, but then she moved and he went off to school soon after. Well, things change with time, he thought to himself. Now shelooked like she just couldn't wait to get away from him.

Indie sighed ''Ryan don't pretend like you care about me or my life now after you've ignored me for all these years. is that all?'' she asked as she picked her bag up and headed for the door. ''And no they weren't home, they dragged me away from my best friend then left me alone to look after myself and my little brother so they can go on trips with clients and be every but at home with their kids. And that's why am I always late. Not that you or any other teacher care about that since you all seem to hate me.'' she said angrily.

Ryan's eyes opened wide. "Ignored you? Where the hell did you get that idea?" He cleared his throat a bit after realising he was cursing. He shook his head and looked at Indie again, but this time his voice was quieter. "And why do you think I hate you?" He really couldn't understand this girl anymore.

"Where did I get that idea? Er maybe the fact that apart from about school stuff you haven't spoken to me since the night before my parents and I moved? The fact that I called you all the time after I left, thinking that we were still best friends but I just lived somewhere else. I never got an answer. I also wrote to you, never got anything back. It's like I left and that was it. So yeah, you did ignore me and as for why I think you hate me? The lack of communication between us. You basically cut me out of your life and I bet if you didn't work here I wouldn't have seen you at all. Whatever Ryan, I give up. I've wasted enough time thinking that maybe, just maybe things could go back to the way they were. They aren't going to." She said as she walked to the door "Anyway, I'll see you in class, Mr Matthews." She said as she turned to walk out the door.

"What?!" He said a lot louder than he meant to. "I ignored you? Yeah, I left for school soon, but I came home once in a while and I never heard from you then." He realized he was yelling, and cleared his throat again. "And for class... Look, you know how strict rules are here. Besides, you looked like you wanted to strangle me from day one since you came here." He was practicaly whispering.

Indie sighed softly, running a hand through her hair "I never know when you were home because we didn't speak, Ry. When I went round to see if you were home you never were and I never heard from you so I was just left without a word and left to think that really you didn't like me anymore." She said and sighed, relalising that she really missed their friendship. He was her best friend, someone who knew her better than anyone else did. "Because I was hurt. I hadn't heard a word from you since the night before I left. I was hurt that you had been ignoring me and that it felt as if I or our friendship didn't matter. That's why I looked like I wanted to strangle you." She said and sighed, wondering how things got so complicated.

Ryan didn't know what to say, and just sat there, looking at the girl. He was an English teacher, for heaven's sake! And now he was pretty sure he couldn't put together a single word.

He sighed too, starting to play with papers on his desk. "Well at least now we know we dien't ignore each other on purpose." He looked at the clock behind him. "Break's almost over."

Indie sighed a little ''I guess. I just don't understand why you never answered my calls. I missed you a lot, you know? when I left things got really bad with my parents and suddenly I lost them and my best friend and I didn't know what to do. It's horrible having to sit in your class all day and try to not to think of what our friendship once was.'' she nodded ''I've got a free but I'll see you in class or something I guess.'' she said and walked out of the door, even more confused than she was when she walked in.
