so i say damn your kiss and the awful things you do.

The Snakeshack sure was a thing to look at. It wasn't necessarily a kind thing on the eyes, but it was strange enough that it made you glance twice.

As you would draw closer to the little shape on the horizon, it grows slowly into something recognizable as a house - a shack, to be specific. It looks bizarre, a large, sprawling pile sitting incongruously in the middle of nowhere - almost as if it was picked up by a tornado, Wizard of Oz style, and just dropped here in the desert. The house almost seems to be exhaling music from its very bricks and timbers, and every window is a patch of bright light in the boundless darkness of the apocalyptic wasteland.

Especially, the huge dazzling neon sign, propped up against the side of the shack. It had flashing golden and ruby lights, humming so loudly it seemed to almost be vibrating. The sign had no words, but instead, a giant exclamation point, taking up the entire shimmering surface. Like it was a punctuation point to the physical house.

The inside was a whole other story. The house may seem tiny on the outside, but the inside was a complete maze. A labyrinth of hallways, staircases, and secret doors and rooms. Walls and rooms are draped in gold and black statuary, and crammed with glass cases of odd things. There always seems to be a light smoke filling the air, licking at the ceiling, but coming from nowhere specific. The air is laced with a sweet yet tangy scent.

Music playing at all times appears to be one of the most important rules at The Snakeshack. It drowns throughout the hallways, lyrics inaudible, but a mysterious beat flowing through the atmosphere. Laughter can sometimes be heard from random rooms, which don't be alarmed - there are other people holding rooms in The Snakeshack. Nicotine is a busy man, picking up hitchhikers just like you.

Speaking of our dearest leader - Nicotine was lounging in a large, suede chair. He was in the main room of the shack, if there even was one, in the heart of the house. It was dimly lit, smokey-aired, and held a tense atmosphere. Objects resembling black magic were splayed everywhere, animal skulls were placed atop of bookshelves filled with potion bottles of every shape and size, and gems and jewels hung from the ceiling. There was even a bubbling cauldron in the corner.

A large, toxic yellow snake was coiling itself around Nicotine's neck and down his arm, which was waving in the air as he hummed along to the seemingly imaginary beat of the music playing through the house. The snake - a cobra - was not choking the young man, but rather comfortably wrapping itself around the Killjoy like it was Nicotine's pet. Which, actually, it was.

Nicotine was watching the snake flick its thin tongue up and down with narrowed eyes. He looked up momentarily, focusing his attention to a girl who was sitting opposite of him. She was looking rather uncomfortable, and out of place, tucking herself to the last cushion of the ratty old couch across from him. The girl stared back at Nicotine with angrily sharp eyes, narrowed to slits.

"You're going to hurt yourself if you keep that attitude up, dearest," spoke Nicotine, shattering the silence. He sounded strangely slick and sly, even though he looked as out-of-place as the girl.

She scoffed back in response, and earned Nicotine another death-glare.

i'm in the business of misery, let's take it from the top.

Hayley rolled her eyes framed by a mixture of a scoff and a sigh. She had thrown the male sitting in front of her another mean look, before shaking off the menacing expression. She raised her hands up to her face and began rubbing her tired eyes until she saw kaleidoscope patterns. She tucked a long stray lock of hair behind her ear - only to groan loudly again. One of the many things that just screamed peculiar about her was the fact that her usual bright red or pink hair turned to a sudden electric blue when she was agitated. She cursed Nicotine in her mind.

Hayley rose up to her feet and brushed off her front, even though there was nothing on it. She looked down at Nicotine, oh highness royalty in his royally royal throne or royalness, and breathed heavily out of her nose.

"Well, if you're going to sit around here and completely forget the fact that you have an extremely important group of people arriving today, it would be much better if you just threw yourself off on a canyon. At least you would be doing humanity a favor, you lazy weirdo."

She crossed her arms tightly over her chest, turned on her heel, and made her way to the door. She was going to go back to the foyer, where she had been waiting there or the room where Nicotine was for about the past hour. She would much rather stand behind the door to the shack, eagerly awaiting their group of new Killjoys, rather than spending another minute with Nicotine, and that freaking creepy snake.

The brown haired girl, with the light gray eyes that seemed to penetrate ones soul, stood staring at what appeared to be a shack. Her eyes glanced to the large neon sign, and she snorted. amused at the blatant display of weirdness, but guessed that you wouldn't be able to find this place unless you knew where it was, or were extremely lucky. She was wearing light clothes, but did have a roughly made backpack over her shoulder which held more clothes. She walked barefoot, for the simple reason that she disliked shoes. She stood at exactly 5 foot 9, and was willowy, thin and graceful. Yet she did seem to have the appearance of someone that perhaps only had one good meal a day. Despie this, she was lean, muscles formed through hard work and rough living.

she loved every aspect of her appearance. She sighed, and began to head towards the shack, wondering if this was a trap or not. Her name was Heloise, and for a good chunk of her life, she had lived on the streets. She loved that too. She decided in order to determine if it was a trap or not, to simply render herself invisible with an illusion until she reached the door. Which is what she did. She simply made it seem like there was no one out there, just the landscape. She couldn't erase her footprints completely, but was sure no one would see them. As she neared the door, her eyes darted over the place, wary.

She stopped and stood where she was for a minute at what appeared to be a front door, before dismissing her illusion, rising one hand and knocking on the door, three loud, efficient knocks, waiting silently for an answer.

Ashlin had been waiting around the shack for quite a while. She had refused to knock let alone touch anything. She knew the high possibility of a trap so she waited for someone to come around and check it out for her. She watched as the tall skinny girl walked up to the door and knocked on it. She thought to herself, what might happen and what might not. But either way something would happen and she would be waiting and watching like a hawk watching over its prey. She had scoffed at the idea of a hawk watching over it prey. Then shut her mouth and watched with interested eyes.

What a beautiful day.

The nuclear-green sun high in the sky, endearing its flesh-searing and mind-fraying blessing of radiation down upon the good people below. And the desert was looking simply gorgeous today, the bright expanse of dry, uninhabitable wasteland looking inviting and fun. And the troves of road bandits seemed to be much more lively and numerous today, the murderers, thugs, thieves, rapists, who lived out here in the desert and would like nothing better than to cram a knife in your gullet, strangle you with your own entrails, and then sell your expensive vehicle on the black market for booze and drugs.

"What a lovely world this is," sighed Gemini, grinning and shutting the window of his room. Light of the sun was rather warm and nice, but he often preferred the sheltering comfort of the darkness, pierced by the radiant holographic glow of a network screen. He browsed through his programs, checked on some of his ATM Trojans, and made sure all of his programs were still alive, kicking, and dumping money into the Snakeshack's metaphorical pocket like the Bad Guys dump trash outside the city limits. He had heard that there were going to be new recruits arriving soon, and he wanted to be there to greet them when they did. Making a wide sweeping motion with both hands, and then a smaller, more complicated pinching gesture, his browsing windows minimized and the network console powered itself down with a morose electronic hum. Walking in time with the beat of the music emanating throughout the shack, Gemini exited the welcoming, shadowy depths of his room and made his way towards a certain room, in which sat a certain person with which he planned to talk about certain things with, certainly.

As soon as Gemini arrived and reached for the doorknob, it turned on its own, and Hayley walked out in a huff, pushing past him and heading for the back door, it seemed. Gemini coughed and entered, smirking at the beautiful animal perched around Nicotine's person as he leaned against the doorway.

"How's it hanging, boss-man? Heard about the new greenies, I'm gonna go give 'em a proper hello and make sure they don't kill each other, eh? Don't want another incident like last week. See ya on the flip side," said the teen slyly, using the phrase he always used in place of 'see you later'. His eyes glowed a bright neon green for a second, and a large rift of swirling green ones and zeroes appeared, the numbers swirling down into the mist of the black abyss within. Gemini walked over to the warp portal, issued a small salute-like motion with his hand, then leaned back and let himself be swallowed up by the vortex of code.

He emerged from the ground outside of the shack, rising up vertically as the portal slowly vanished underneath his feet. He was positioned nearby one of the recruits, who knocked loudly on the door and waited on the threshhold. Gemini leaned up against one of the supporting posts on the front porch of the shack, closing his eyes and smirking as he addressed the newbie.

"You know, there are more efficient ways of entering a building."

Heloise reacted instinctively as the voice sounded, making herself unseen once more, she was already taking a knife from its strap on one arm, glancing about, seeing someone there. She glared, dismissing her illusion. "What, other then knocking on the door? Should I have smashed it down? Or maybe smashed a window? Sorry, was there another way of entering a pace I have never been to before?"

She studied the man, sighing. "I'm not a telepath, so I cannot read minds, so why don't you tell me the way in this place, since I was invited? Otherwise I'll just leave. No skin of my nose. I've managed to stay hidden most of my life, and I imagine I'll continue to do so "Even if it did mean continuing to steal, and moving, never returning to one place after leaving it. "How about instead of making useless comments, you offer to help? Oh, wait. That might force you to think of someone other then yourself, correct?"

She turned away from the man, normally she wouldn't have spoken out like that, but that comment was just annoying and unhelpful. She studied the door, and then turned the knob.

Oh lord, this one was going to be SO much fun to mess with. Gemini knew he was going to have more fun with the events that followed than he should. He flicked his wrist, and his eyes flashed cyan again, a small wave of energy passing over the door.

As the girl turned the knob and pulled the door open, the only thing on the other side was a swirling void similar to the one that transported Gemini there, the empty blackness mixed in with a whirlpool of glowing cyan energy and similarly-colored 1's and 0's, drifting along in the current like leaves floating on the waves of the ocean. The portal took up the entire space of the doorway, humming gently like the processors of a busy computer.

"I don't know, maybe you should have smashed in a window. You've come all this way just to answer an invitation, I can't imagine you'd let something like a door stop you from reaching your goal?"

He uncrossed his legs and stood upright, smirking and shoving his hands in his pockets as he took a few steps towards her. "You're here, which shows that you'd obviously prefer living here than returning to your old life. But did you really think it was going to be easy? I mean, come on, entering through the door? You're not even trying to think outside the box."

We'll see how dedicated this one really is. The Snakeshack is for Killjoys with conviction and spirit, not children with attitudes who got lucky with special powers, thought Gemini, crossing his arms and waiting for the recruit's next move.

Nicotine, though shamelessly admitting, remained sitting in his royal throne in the cozy room. A smirk had crept across his thin lips, as he gazed longingly at the door that Hayley had swung shut behind her. He predicted - starting to count down in his head, ten, nine, eight, - that the door was about to swing back open, accompanied by an even more frustrated Hayley. Surely, their guests couldn't have arrived yet. It was still light out, right? There were no windows in the dimly lit room, but he could already see the toxic sun blazing across the scorched horizon.

Nicotine had his attention glued to a frayed-looking calendar that was pinned to the wall, reading the month May of 2037. He was about to let out a scoff, oh, the good old days, when he was jolted from his thoughts. He looked up to see Gemini enter, casually explain to where he was headed off to, and disappeared. Alright, so maybe the new recruits were here.

i'm in the business of misery, let's take it from the top.

Hayley was too much in her midst of fury to notice Gemini, so much that she almost crashed right into him. Being the nimblest she was, she squeezed past, and continued making her storm down the hallway. She had picked up her pace, for she had heard a loud knock at the door, and her eyes lit up with excitement. Finally!

She almost busted through the creaky old splintered door of the shack. The sudden burst of vibrant light from the neon sign outside blinded her for a heartbeat, but she quickly began waving and smiling brightly, shielding her eyes with a hand.

"No one is breaking any windows here!" she exclaimed, lowering her arm. She gazed at the new people that had gathered near the door, shot a glare at Gemini, and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Is this everyone? I could've sworn there were more of you newbies described on the waiting list."

[Greenie is slang for greenhorn, which is slang for newbie or "inexperienced one"]

Gemini cackled mischievously and waved a hand, removing the portal from the doorway.

"You just love ruining all the fun, don't you, Hayley? I was really excited to see the newbie break a window on her first day. Ah, well, perhaps another time she can prove her worth in vandalism. But yeah, this is it. This girl, and the one hiding over there who thinks I didn't notice her presence."

He pointed over to the wall of the house behind which the other new recruit was hiding, leaning back against the porch railing once more and crossing his arms behind his head.

Heloise spun back to face the annoying guy, already weaving an illusion with him trapped in a cage, even as she flashed an illusion of what the house should look like, encouraging the image to take the inside of the shack and bring it forth over whatever this jerk had done to it. It wouldn't be real, but he didn't have to know that! She had been trying to form real, solid illusions, but clearly wasnt ready for it. She looked over when a girl joined them, "I wasn't going to break a window. Merely trying to get this idiot to eat his stupid words" ignoring his words, she slammed the cage around him. If he went to walk through it, he'd be able to. But still. It was the point of it.

She straightened and said softly "if there is some way of getting in this place that isn't through the door, perhaps you should be out here waiting. And not have a monkey to come and poke fun" she said to the girl, but there wasn't any venom in her voice. It was as if she was having a conversation. "I'm heloise"

____________________________________________________________________________________________________Like rolling thunder, the classic muscle car's engine roared as it sped down the desert. Going at approximately one hundred and ten miles per hour, Zeke wore a grin of mischief on his face as a cigarette hung from the corner of his lips. The adrenaline that was pumping through his veins was even more intoxicating then the Fireball Whiskey that he loved so dearly. Usually, Zeke was laying low snaking his way through dark alleys to keep from being hunted. However, today he had the opportunity to drive under the beating sun across the wasteland in one of his most prized possessions, his car. He had found the car long ago in a junkyard missing so many pieces it couldn't even start. After many days of work, he was able to put it together again. In Zeke's mind, it was his greatest masterpiece.

Out in the distance Zeke spotted what looked like to be a building which thankfully meant he was in fact driving the right way. He now begun to slow down as the building came into view much clearer so that he could properly look at it as he sped towards it. It was one of the strangest things he had seen, but he automatically loved it. From the way it looked like it was clumsily put together to the giant neon song it was quite a sight.

Finally, Zeke reached the building that he had spent hours driving to. Parking along side the building, he turned off his car and stepped outside but not before making sure to lock it. He walked to the trunk of his car and opened it up revealing the arsenal inside. Considering the trunk was big enough to fit a human body, the amount of weapons kept inside was a good bit. From guns to knives, Zeke had pretty much anything you could think. Which made quite an impression on people, but he wasn't exactly someone who was worried about impressing anyone. That was obvious from the beat up, black combat boots, ripped jeans, white tank top, and black jacket with tears all over it.

Walking up to the three people lingering around the door, Zeke spoke out.

"Looks like I'm in the right place"

Ashlin fell from where she was hiding laughing. Almost anyone could hear her, he laugh was clear as day! She tried to stand up but fell. Looking at the three people upside down from her position on the ground, "Hi! Im Ashlin." She then smiled and sat up, "I thought that maybe this was a trick, but I can see now." She fell again laughing, in between laughs she managed to say "I can see now, that you guys are so far away from being "The bad guys" that i can hardly even talk!" She stopped laughing and smiled, standing up with a straight face. "I am so sorry for that, my humor got the better of me." She bowed and walked up to them.

Gemini only grinned more. This girl was WAY too easy. And really? All it took was a small wave of his hand to tell that the barely-convincing cage around him wasn't real. If she was going to make enemies on her first day, she could at least give it her all.

She spoke calmly, but it was very clear to Gemini that she was irritable and impatient. She had the attitude, all right, but not everyone was Killjoy material. He supposed they'd just have to wait and see.

He stood up from the post and walked clear through the poorly-constructed cage illusion, speaking with an amused tone as he passed through the boundary of the mirage and strolled in a slow circle, passing Heloise first and heading towards the other two recruits that had arrived.

"Illusions, eh? Not very convincing, I'm afraid. Your insults are equally mediocre. But no worries, if you show us you've got what it takes, we'll show ya how to use both your abilities and your comebacks to their fullest potential."

Gemini chuckled to himself at that last part, memories of various fights and squabbles between Killjoys surfacing. They were mostly all a bit childish and perhaps a tad immature, but they were a family, and they were a much more organized group than most of the bandit gangs across the country. Then he saw Ashlin, and his heart skipped a beat for a second, and he slipped back into reality.

"So, Ashlin, is it? Gemini Ace, master hacker extraordinaire, at your service." He shook her hand, then bowed a bit, smiling and turning to look at the third recruit's car.

"Woah, sick ride. So who'd didja kill to get that set of wheels?" Gemini joked, grinning and leaning over a bit to look at the interior and down at the rims and body of the automobile. It wasn't perfectly shiny, of course, but it was in impressive condition, considering. He hadn't seen a car like that in a long, long time.

"If you're gonna hang with us, we'll have to find a place for the ride other than out in the sun. Don't want the bandits jacking it while you're not looking. I'm pretty sure Nic can find somewhere safe to stash it. So, tell me about yourself, Hot Rod. What makes you special?"

Hayley had momentarily jolted from her thoughts, her eyebrows creased and furrowed. It was amusing, watching Gemini and the new recruits socialize, but in all honesty, something seemed a little bit off. It was a strange feeling rising in her throat, insisting that something wasn't quite right.

She took a few steps closer to Gemini, now realizing that she had ignored his snarky remark from before - Nicotine would have his cobra wrapped around my neck if he found out I let one of the new Killjoys break a window in his precious shack - but that's not what she was as concerned about at this moment.

She tilted her head away from the direction of the new recruits, subtly whisper-mumbling in Gemini's ear.

"Is this everyone that should be here? I could've sworn Nicotine said there were more - and, he's probably eager to meet them all now. At least, since some of them are here."

She combed through her bottom lip with her teeth in worry. She leaned back, shooting the fellow Killjoy an anxious look, yet still cocked an arched eyebrow. If this really was their full group for this year - or these next years, then the future didn't seem as bulletproof as Hayley had desired. They needed all the new team members they could get, and fast. And, hopefully, she could introduce herself properly to the new youngsters.

Zeke nodded as he registered what the man told him, it seemed to make sense to him. However, he wasn't stupid, he grabbed his pistols from his trunk and strapped them on. Then, he grabbed his sword and slung on it his back. These people seemed to be the real deal after all the research he had done on them, but he had to be careful.

Taking a last drag from his cigarette, Zeke tossed it away as he turned to answer the question. But standing behind him at then door way was a girl and suddenly he lost his train of thought. For several seconds, he just stared only to be brought back by her walking up to the boy he was talking to and whispering something to him.

"Ain't none of you're business, but I'm hot." Zeke begun. "As in fire hot kind of hot, but they're black flames which I don't really get but I'm guessing it means something." he explained to him.

Heloise decided she didn't just dislike the guy. He seemed arrogant and rude, both things she hated. Her illusions had passed enough for her to get by these last few years. "Bite me" she said, ignoring the other new person or what she assumed as the other new person, and gathering her power, she calmly and focusedly began to form a ball in her hand. Her hand did not go through it, nor did the ball even look as if it were an illusion. She threw it at the guy, satisfied at its solidness and the fact that it was, apart from the fact that it was a figment of her imagination, real.

"I don't waste my time or mind thinking of comebacks for dancing monkeys. So why would I bother with any for you?" She turned away,

Not wanting an answer, towards the girl.

"You know, It's rude to not give someone your name after they have given you theirs" she also ignored the person who seemed to be smoking. The only sane one seemed to be the girl.

Hayley's sharp eyes flashed away from Gemini, looking at Heloise. For a heartbeat, she was tempted to glare fiercely at the newbie for her stern words. Hayley had planned to properly introduce herself to the whole group, once they have all settled along with the leader. Once, you know, everything was sorted out and explained. Not here, and certainly not after being called rude.

Either way, she turned away from her fellow Killjoy, and faced the girl. She placed a hand on her hip, and gently flipped her hair out of her face.

"Pretty bold of a fledgling like you to speak up to me like that," she said, pressing back a smirk. "Better not act that way around the boss, he would probably command his snake to swallow you whole."

She chuckled, before sticking out her hand.

"I'm Misery Business, one of the head joy-killers 'round here. I like you."

"Being eaten whole by a snake Doesn't seem like such a bad way to go" Heloise said musingly, unphased by that. She took the woman's offered hand, "pleasure to meet you. I'll reframe from stating whether I like you or not until I've had more then a thirty second conversation with you" she said honestly, nodding her head to Gemini "what's up with the monkey that thinks he's all that?"

She let go of Miserys-surely that was an alias or something-hand, not wanting to seem like she was just simply holding the other girls hand. Heloise was dreadful in social situations. Most of the time

(I'm genuinely curious, is 'monkey' the best insult Heloise can come up with? What a brat xD If anyone's arrogant and rude, it's her. Also, two posts ago, you said she couldn't make solid illusions yet. It makes zero sense for her to succeed out of nowhere without any sort of preparation.)

Gemini furrowed his brow as well. He hadn't said it, but he had also been a little perturbed that there weren't as many recruits as Nicotine said they would need. He leaned in and whispered back, out of earshot of the recruits, "There will probably be more, we just have to give them time. And if not, then we'll make do with what we have. I gotta say, though, these recruits aren't making a very good first impression on me. A cornered rattler isn't as pissy as that bratty illusionist."

He leaned away, casually slapping the brat's mediocre ball out of the air with the back of his hand, and turned back to the male recruit. "Black flames? Interesting. At least one of the recruits here has powers that are actually useful."

Gemini stepped back towards Ashlin. "So, you wanna be a Killjoy? It's a rough life, but it can be loads of fun if you watch where you step. There'll be bandits, thugs, nuclear radiation, and natural disasters, not to mention the constant threat from the government soldiers. Think you're up to the challenge?"

Ashlin looked at Gemini. "Gemini why are you so mad?" She asked looking a bit worried. "You seem upset about something." She looked him up and down, then looked at Hayley. She walked straight up to her, "You are way too up tight right now Miss. Your body muscles are tensing, and if you not careful your gonna get a cramp." She felt extremely bad for saying this to a head Killjoy, but not wanting to see her hurt was important. She did not throw any attitude, but just looked at everybody with surprise. Completely forgetting that her eyes changed color when she read people. She looked down and said "Im so so sorry, especially to you Misses." She turned around and began walking towards the back of the group, silently shaming herself for what she had just done.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jynx walked out of his room and into the main meeting area (He guessed), where his father sat with that annoyingly large snake that he almost always had. He looked at his father, "When will everyone be here?" That way I know when to lock myself in my room." He looked his father up and down with a hint of disgust. He knew in his heart that his father was doing this to protect and train the other specials. He smiled a bit and sat down on the floor beside his fathers chair.

Zeke carefully watched the two Killjoys. It was clear from the glances and hushed whispers they shared that something was worrying them both. Wondering what it might be, he quickly looked around him for a moment. Now that he was truly looking, he realized that nothing was going on and that was the problem. For a recruiting day, it was awfully quiet.

"Don't matter if she's up to it or not, these days there ain't much of a choice. We have to deal with all that even if we're not Killjoys" Zeke pointed out after hearing his statement. It was true, he had personally faced all those things in the years he had spent alone. He had the many scars to prove it too.

Out of nowhere, Zeke noticed something. He was being almost...shy. Most days he'd be cussing and sending out sarcasm already. It was that girl, she made him weird and that was strange considering he wasn't exactly oblivious when it came to women.

"Not exactly," replied Gemini, "the gangs see large groups like us a threat, and they're more hostile towards us as a result. Traveling alone, you might get lucky and escape alive after they rob you blind, but if we get attacked by one of those bands of savages, chances are at least one of us is gonna be dead by the end of the day. Plus, every single one of us is a wanted fugitive of the law in Vegas. The bad guys won't shoot normal Specials, but they'll turn us into Swiss cheese if they so much as catch us sneezing on the outer wall of the city."

He rubbed his chin some more, contemplating this information and raising an eyebrow at Ashlin's comment.

"Emotion reader, eh? Don't think I've ever met one before. As for what's got me upset...well, there doesn't seem to be as many recruits as we anticipated would arrive. Are you guys the only ones? Did you hear of anyone else heading out here?"

Hayley nodded gently back at Gemini, shooting him an expression that read I completely agree. It was slightly more relieving knowing that her worries were being shared with the other Killjoys, but that didn't necessarily solve her problem. If there were any more Killjoys to come, they were terribly late. Or, which she prayed was unlikely, they've been ghosted out by Dracs on their journey here. She knew it was a good idea for the Killjoys at the Snakeshack to travel Zones to pick up the new recruits, instead of them finding their own way here. It was unnerving, honestly, and she probably won't be able to sleep tonight. Imagining a group of youngsters being killed by Draculoids, on their way to their new and hopeful, action-packed life, made her stomach flip.

Hayley was jolted from her thoughts once again, watching one of the recruits come up to her to speak. I mean, being called Miss was a bit uncomfortable - but she didn't seem to hold any snarkiness in her soft words. Hayley crossed her arms over her chest and rolled her shoulders, before responding.

"You could get that all from just glancin' at me?" She cocked her head to the side as she spoke, lightheartedly. The new Killjoy looked tedious and shy - which, to Hayley, made her flash a big smile of reassurance. She shook off the unneeded apology, not pressing on the topic of why she deserved a sorry. She should be the one saying sorry for tensing up so much.

She slightly ignored the fact that Gemini was still socializing with the newbies, Hayley bumped the back of her hand against the fellow Killjoy's arm, to get his attention for a heartbeat. She shot him a quick nod, before clapping her hands together to get everyone's attention.

"It seems as though this is everyone for today, which is perfectly fine. We'll work with what we got for now, right? No one has been ghosted out, so don't worry 'bout that nonsense. I think the boss will be itching to see you all, though! Get to know all your names, powers, probably describe what the hell is goin' on..."

Nicotine had became lost in this thoughts again, his eyes focused on the dull carpeted floor, his glasses slipped to near the end of his nose. Although, when Jynx entered, he snapped from his daydreams at once.

"Lock yourself in your room?" he said, lifting a hand to press his black glasses closer to his face. "But don't you want to see the new Killjoys? You never know - there could be someone your age." The snake draped around him had chosen to curiously slither its head down his arm as he lifted it, which made him hold back a small smirk at the animal. He delicately lifted up the snake, and readjusted it comfortably around his shoulders, before looking back at Jynx.

"These are very important people that I'm expecting, Jynx. I'm going to be training them, along with the other members, to do things that you'll have to know how to do when you're older. I'm not just giving them a bite to eat and a warm place to sleep tonight."

Jynx looked at his father, "You really think I care if there might be someone my age?!" He seemed a bit angry. He looked around the room. "There coming, get yourself ready mister all high and mighty." He said as he rolled his eyes in disgust about the fact that his father actually did not realize that Jynx was afraid of people. Jynx turned around and stormed into his room slamming the door.

Ashlin looked up, and walked up to Hayley. "I can see your feelings and The Colors. Sorta like what Gemini said. " She spoke pointing to Gemini, she smiled and her eyes changed colors again, "Did you know the sun is yellow not green?" She asked in a surprised voice, "I never thought to look up at it until now." She smirked

Heloise started to laugh. "It isn't fine, or you would have dtopped at just saying thats all of you fo today. You were expecting more people, and you were expecting people with more...advanced and I spiring powers. Well. I haven't exacltly had a lot of opportunity to train, being more concerned with food and water and clothes. And staying hidden, for the last....eight years of my life " she looked around at them all,and continued speaking, "I am heloise. I can create illusions. I can, with more training, create solid illusions."

She shrugged, "it might not be much, but looks like you are stuck with me" and then she fell silent. She looked at them all, but didn't offer any more words. Simply studied them.
