Fantasy Strangers in a Strange Land CS

Rusty of Shackleford

Ten Thousand Club
Hi! This is the CS for the D&D cartoon inspired RP I'm doing. The idea is that several players of a weekly D&D session are sucked into the world of their campaign after using a magical book that updates to suit the edition the players use. They become their characters, and they decide what they do, but what the characters say cannot break from their personalities, so they will say and do things in ways that fit their character. Anyway, here's the CS! Rules are no overpowered characters, and remember that this is D&D, so try to stick to the feeling of it. But most of all, have fun!

Character Background:

Name:
Rosaline Winchester, Alurora Duskwalker

Title:
The Woman of Shadows

Age:
19, 24

Race:
Half-elf

Alignment:
Chaotic Neutral

Class:
Rogue

Appearance:
tefhexe_d.jpg

Rosaline is young woman whose most distinguishing feature is her crimson red hair that she has been dyeing since she was 15 years old. She is neither lean nor wide and has fairly tanned skin.
Alurora is a half-elf with fair skin and an off-white hair color. She’s somewhat lean with a sturdy build and is on the taller side for a human but not too tall compared to elves.

Player Personality:

Although Rosaline would like to believe she is a lot more like the tough, impassive character she had created for the game, she is mostly the complete opposite. Having been raised with her several siblings, she learned what it’s like to be extremely compassionate and kind. She attempts to keep the cool rebel façade she made up for herself but once you get to know her more you’ll begin to see her nerdy, worrisome self. Once she considers someone her friend she’ll make sure to stick with them through thick and thin, giving her undivided attention to them when she thinks they need it most. While she can become quite the boisterous talker, she is still a reserved person who doesn’t think anyone’s going to listen whenever she talks. She tries to be very patient with people, especially those she doesn’t really know, but it isn’t her strongest suit because she believes she could be doing something more interesting or useful.

Character Personality:
Alurora is not the most expressive person unless she finds something ridiculously stupid or distasteful. Her impatience with people causes her to have a quick temper which makes her look unfriendly and unsociable to those on the outside, although she does occasionally enjoy the company of those she’s stuck traveling with. She always seems to be trying to act like she’s above everyone else even if she doesn’t believe it, it’s a matter of putting on an air of fake self confidence. Her survival instincts will kick in every so often, causing her to become more distrustful of the people around her and furthering her determination to live. Although she would gladly take up arms against someone who is of a similar age or build as her, her reluctance grows when faced with a creature or a child whom she does not see as an equal contender.

Player Background:

Rosaline grew up in a decently big family consisting of her two older brothers and her twin little sisters who all cared for each other very much. Not that she hated being a part of her large family, but being the middle child always made her feel like the more neglected one. Her older brothers would always be praised for being the first at doing everything such as graduating, getting a drivers license, etc. while her sisters were the two perfect little angels of the family. At first through her middle school years this caused her to be a much quieter person who enjoyed hobbies such as video games and reading, but as she grew older she became a much more rebellious person. While at heart she was still that kind, reserved, and geeky kid, on the outside she showed her more antagonistic feelings which caused her to act like a different person to the people who knew her. Through a lot of high school she spent her time doing things she wasn’t supposed to since she felt that it wouldn’t matter to her parents anyways, after all they barely paid attention to their middle child. After she finished high school she made it priority get in to a school a decent distance away from home and to move out of her parents house. Finally feeling freed from her cramped life back home, some of her more rebellious nature washed away revealing her truer, more softer self.

Character Background:
Alurora was was born an only child to her elven father and human mother. For as long as she could remember she was born into poverty in a small town in the outskirts of the bigger city. Throughout her childhood she began to notice how her parents struggled to keep enough food for the three of them on the table. Confident enough on her ability to be quick and quiet, she began thievery all by herself at a young age. Her parents tried to discourage her new little hobby, but alas it fell on deaf ears once she noticed how it was helping support her family. One fateful day, Alurora unknowingly almost pickpocket a member of a thieves guild who fortunately was very forgiving and saw some sort of potential in the scrawny girl. Taking her under their wing, they taught her their roguish skills and thieves cant as a way of communicating with others who could potentially help her. For a few years after, Alurora made a job out of her theiving skill. With a now more steady income, she made enough money to move her parents to a more peaceful village where they could make a living as farmers. As much as she cared for her family, she found life around the village to be boring and left to begin adventuring.

Name: Arthur Lewis/ Ander Brightwall

Title: "Bahamut's Claw"

Age: 21/23

Race: Lightborn (Homebrew race)

Alignment: Neutral Good w/lawful good tendencies

Class: Paladin, Oath of Devotion

Appearance:
5b2057e1e85d457ee2e38ba6fa8be2ba.jpg
Arthur is a tall, thin young man, worth short, messy black hair and stormy grey eyes. His skin a bit pale from his tendency to lose himself in video games. His character is identical, though Ander's hair is longer, and he has a beard and a small scar down his left eyebrow.

Player Personality: Arthur is one of the players who's played D&D extensively, and it shows at times. He plays with a mixture of mechanical understand and a ridiculous amount of fun. He loves D&D, and sometimes he forgets that he's not his character at times. He sees himself as the tank of the party, the one who carried their burdens, and this can take it's toll on him.

Character Personality: Ander is your typical Neutral Good Paladin. Honorable, duty-driven, compassionate. Unlike the annoying paladins that berate and straight up attack the party for doing less than moral. Instead, he respects his party's choices as long as they don't do something too evil. He'll let them steal from someone who deserves it, but he will not let them kill innocents without a good reason. He's a bright guy, and he loves making jokes and telling stories with his comrades.

Player Background: Arthur and his brother were abandoned at a young age by their parents. This feeling of abandonment burrowed deep into Arthur's psyche, giving him a fear of being abandoned. He was a shy kid, and didn't have many friends. That was until his uncle introduced him to D&D Third Edition. That day, his life changed forever. D&D was unlike anything he'd ever played before, and he loved it. The first class he played was the paladin, mand it stuck ever since, though he did make a homebrew that he could be Neutral Good. He helped set up the weekly sessions along with his brother, the DM.

Character Background: Like his player counterpart, Ander was abandoned, this time at the doorstep of a temple dedicated to Bahamut. He was of course trained to be a paladin, and when his time came, he was sent out to meek out justice and oppose the forces of Tiamat.

Name:
Player- Takane Parker
Character- Shinji Sett

Title: The Boy Who Sells Miracles

Age:
Takane- 20
Shinji- 1,573

Race: Elf

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Class: Merchant

Appearance: Takane-
latest
Shinji- Shinji is a rather small male, topping off at 5'4 and weighing around 109 lbs. He has an incredibly young looking appearance, with messy blonde hair that frames his face, going as long as his chin. His eyes are a crystal blue, with his skin being a light white. His ears, like all elves, are pointed. He wears long and usually over sized cloaks, and a large witches hat with a smiley face sewn on. He can always be found carrying a large backpack, that despite his slim and lithe frame he seems able to carry with ease. (I'll draw him in his traditional attire later for reference)

Player Personality: Takane is a girl with a hidden heart of gold, kept secret under her many layers of shyness. She's incredibly scared of showing others the real her and to keep them from doing so she's created a barrier between herself and the outside world, in which D&D is the only time she'd show off her true colors. And let me tell you of those colors. Takane is an extremely creative girl, extremely creative with her torture methods that is. As she's truly a closeted sadist, loving to see people who aren't close to her in pain. She's the one who always suggest going on murder rampages throughout the town, then adds 'if it's not too much trouble' afterwords. Her heart of gold, apparently, only applies to people close to her. Even if her sadistic tendencies get in the way of her logical thinking, she can be extremely logical when brought back to reality and tends to come up with things quickly.

Character Personality: Shinji was originally going to be a Chaotic Evil character, it is important to note this because he's kept quite a bit of the 'evil' parts of his character, including his love of pure unadulterated chaos and his love of others in pain. Though he's been forced into the 'neutral' role, as he may enjoy chaos, he doesn't actively cause it (often...) and his sadism only extends to childish pranks and the like. He can always be seen smiling or laughing, having a kind of optimistic streak that's almost unable to be broken. Almost. Though his childish demeanor, he takes life incredibly seriously, distrusting most people and taking great caution in most activities. He tends to be incredibly curious, though whenever he explores he does so incredibly cautiously and takes great pains in ensuring any and all accidents are avoided. He's really clever when you get down to it, and he knows this. Now the question is whether he'll let you in on the secret or not, to which the answer is a resounding no. Leaving only vague breadcrumbs and the like as he leaves you to piece together whatever puzzle.

Player Background: Takane lives with her older sister, due to an accident when she was younger that killed off both of their parents. She grew up isolated, due to her sibling never being home having to work multiple jobs just to keep a roof over their heads, and instead of dealing with the isolation by seeking others out at school. She sunk into it, sinking more and more into her studies and creative arts until that's everything she focused on. Eventually her sister noticed this and told her she needed to find some friends and do something and so she did. That was the first time she played D&D and she's been playing ever since, it being the only solace to let out her less then humane desires.

Character Background: Shinji was born under miraculous circumstances, having both his parents told that he'd end up killing his mother and himself in the process. Both parties ended up surviving, and his birth was deemed a miracle. That stuck with him throughout his life, no matter how much he acted out everyone still treated him as though he was 'better' some how. It didn't help that his luck was through the roof, and tended to save him more often then not. He decided to run away from his home, stealing everything of value from the village and setting off on his way, his lucky streak continuing to follow him throughout life and in the items he sold granting him the title of 'The Boy Who Sells Miracles', to this day he continues to travel in search of chaos and people stupid enough to buy his junk searching for the so-called 'Miracle'.

Name:
Player - Penelope Flora
Character - Alita

Title: Red Death

Age:
Player - 17
Character - 23

Race: Tiefling

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Class: Rogue

Appearance: female_tielfing_by_volambrys-d7ooof3.png

Player Personality: Penelope is a very reserved young woman. Her whole life has been about planning for her future, so while she is very smart, Penelope lacks any real social skills. She started playing D&D as a way to make some friends and to try and live vicariously through her Tiefling. On her day to day life, she is very polite and almost invisible to others, but when she is Alita, she spreads mischievous and chaos wherever she goes.

Character Personality: Alita is a rebel through and through. She does what she wants when she wants to, doing just enough good to justify the bits of chaos she likes to sew. Being a Tiefling, Alita finds it easier to work solo, mostly because most groups refuse to work with anyone from her race. That being said, she has worked in quite a few groups and always does the job she's hired to do, even if she doesn't always use the most orthodox methods.

Player Background: Penelope is the youngest daughter in a family full of high achievers. Everyone in her family either holds a position of high esteem or are at the top of their class and transitioning into coveted positions. Penelope is no different, she is in the top of her class at the academy she attends, already being fought over by prestigious universities around the world. The path of success she is following has already been written for her.

Despite her seemingly enchanted life, Penelope is extremely unhappy. She has no friends or social skills to speak of, every waking moment of her life is spent on her self-improvement, and she is constantly in the shadow of her siblings. When she accidentally stumbled on an advertisement for a game she had never heard of, she jumped at the chance to try something fun for a change. She soon discovered her love for Dungeons and Dragons, making up classes and tutoring sessions every week to make up an excuse to attend a D&D session.

Character Background: Alita does not remember much of her childhood. She was a street urchin that was taken off the street at a time when a lot of "undesirable" children were being abducted. She was raised and conditioned to be a thief with no identity for a shadow group nobody had ever heard of. During a high profile job, a mistake was made and she was forced to kill several people to escape. The group took notice, and from that day Red Death Alita was born.

She was trained to be an assassin, and for many years she was one of their best. She was one of their best, that is until she unknowingly assassinated one of the group's leaders during a "restructuring" of leadership. Since then, she has been on the run from the group's assassin's, using the skills she learned to keep herself hidden and survive.

Truly free for the first time in her life, Alita now lives the life of an exciting adventurer. She helps those she feels like helping and screws over those that cross her. Despite the constant prejudice of her Tiefling heritage, the influence of the people she's helped and met have turned her into a somewhat good person, so long as she isn't crossed.

Character Name:Julius Petros
Player Name: Peter

Title: "The Liberator"

Character Age: 29
Player Age: 19

Race: Human

Alignment: Neutral Good

Class: Fighter

Appearance:
aeb395cf169ad5dfb90ba317396a15f1--warrior-concept-art-fantasy-warrior.jpg

Player Personality:
Peter is known to be a history nerd, whenever he hears or spots something that seems relatable to the real worlds history he goes on rambling non stop. He loves being involved in games that have large scale battles, politics, crafting, and controlling AI units. Being with other players is not a problem with him as he tends to joke around a lot and gives off friendly vibes. He doesn't like tensions or division amongst players and tries to be the middle man that takes no side. He strives to be the leader and frequently ask others inputs to help determine the best course of action. Sometimes he acts like the soldier following orders as well unless it is something he's not willing to do for moral reasons. A major flaw that Peter himself has openly expressed is that he can sometimes get a bit to cocky and emotional, especially on his goals in a game which is of course to expand, grow, and conquer which is stuff you would find in any strategy game. Sometimes his actions are on a whim rather then thinking about it first. Nonetheless he is willing to cooperate and assist whomever he can, and always strive to better himself in game and in real life.

Character Personality:
Julius Petros is what you would describe as a true warrior. A soldier who is willing to throw himself into the heat of battle without second thought if it meant protecting those that values and knowing that there is a slight chance for victory. A man who fears nothing but the gods and deities who he worships. He is known to show no remorse to those who would harm the innocent and commit atrocities, however he has his fathers teachings to remind him that not everything has to be solved with violence. He tends to keep to himself and only talk when necessary, but acts like a energetic jolly man when near children, villagers, and giants. Julius is also known to be an ambitious man who wishes to create a kingdom of his image. A kingdom that once resembled the one that he once lived in. This ambition however lingers with vengeance, as it riles him up on how his homeland was destroyed. Mentions or pursue of the knowledge of his past tends to end the conversation with a loud sound of his spear hitting the ground. He helps those who need it, and fights for an idea and future that he hopes will be achieved one day.

Player Background:
Peter was born in Fort Polk Louisiana, with his mom, dad, and two other siblings. His dad served as an officer in the military and his mom tended to stay at home taking care of peter and his brothers. They tended to move around a lot and Peter usually ended up not talking to past friends and moved on to new ones. Eventually his father retired after serving his time and settled his family down in Georgia, this allowed his father to Peter to share the old classic roleplaying games that he enjoyed during his early youth. Peter immediately got hooked into roleplaying games where he would always have his characters be warriors or soldiers that have big ambitions. This has also gotten him to go out more and rp with a bunch of other people in which he so far has enjoyed doing as a hobby.
Character Background:
Julius originally lived on an island named Tyuboria, a location where humans and giants coexisted in peace. All went well until a small fleet of pirates arrived and ransacked several port towns, and captured as many people and giants as they could. Julius was amongst those who were captured and he was 12 during that time. He was brutally beaten, ridiculed, and scarred for 4 years. He was eventually sold off to a plantation but broke out when the opportunity raised, killing 11 guards and freeing a few dozen slaves. He went on a large liberation spree, where he would gather as many slaves who could hold a weapon and fight, and attack nearby plantations, and other work sites that had slaves. This would be known to some as the "Shining Uprising", which went on for one month before the lord of the region had finally assembled an army and quenched the slave uprising. Julius and the remaining surviving slaves managed to escape the region and found themselves refugee to a nearby kingdom. The now freed slaves thanked Julius for his brave actions, and nicknamed him "The Liberator". Since then Julius has gone across the continent and liberated many slaves from there shackles and slay countless foes that apposed him. He is feared by many, and few dare to challenge him in a one on one combat.

Player Personality:
Jo is not a nerd. She is a jock, a soccer star, an academic princess, not a nerd. Her hobbies include running, drinking way too much, and journaling, she is all about self-improvement. She is highly competitive and always wants to win, unfortunately in D&D there isn’t a real win condition. Her desire to win every fight, loot every room, exhaust every dialogue might be a burden on the team. Not only that but despite her intelligent character she naturally knows nothing about the game, how it works, and the world it takes place in.

Character Personality:
“It is not often that Cindra will come out of her workshop (a small cottage on the outskirts of her hometown), but when she does, it is often because someone has asked for her services. She is picky about who she deems worthy of interrupting her research, but at the end of the day the talented wizard has a kind heart, and is the begrudging anchor her town is built on.”

-Written by Daniel

Based off Daniel’s description, Jo interpreted Cindra as a stand-offish character, not quick to trusting others. It would take a lot for Cindra to leave her home, and even more to convince her to help her new friends. Her gnomish qualities make her extremely intelligent though, capable of fantastic magic. With transmutation as her school Cindra specializes in manipulating the world around her. She likes to use it to fix things, not destruction

Player Background:
Joanna was raised to be perfect in a very strict Christian household. A straight A student and captain of the soccer team she was never exposed to nerdier hobbies. When she reached college she relaxed her perfectionism and eventually fell for a nerd. A friend of a friend invited her to a random house party and she hit it off with this ex-soccer captain nerd. That night, and many other nights, she really enjoyed getting drunk and playing complex board games. But she never considered herself a “nerd”. Sure, she watched game of thrones but that was basically mainstream.

Jo was convinced to join this Dungeons and Dragons group by that boyfriend. He loved diving into this strange fantasy, but she’s never quite grasped it. She was jealous, he spent more time at the comic book store than with her so she decided to give it a try. He wrote her character sheet, min-maxed per her request but had his own fun with the background and spells. Unfortunately for her, his group was deep into a pathfinder, level 8, Hell’s Vengeance run, way too complicated for a beginner. When they arrived at the comic book store she was abandoned at this random table with these losers.

Character Background:
Cindra is the local wizard for her town, if Jo was playing anything other than 5th edition Cindra would probably be a witch. Daniel didn’t really flesh out this bit so Jo jumbled something together. Apparently, Cindra went to one of the most prestigious non-gnome magic academies in the world so she felt like she never fit in. When she graduated she didn’t have an apprenticeship lined up anywhere, so a half-orc named Shrek took her in as an apprentice blacksmith since she’s a rock-gnome. She couldn’t do any of the heavy lifting so se used magic to help and transformed many a rock into precious metals for her new friend. When he passed she remained in the swamp but calmed the fires of his forge. Soon, people from the nearby village discovered her and she became a great help to those around her.

Name:
Anna Pierce
Serafelle “Fell” of DawnSun

Title: The Falling Dawn

Age:
Twenty
Twenty-five

Race: Human

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Class: Paladin serving a god of debauchery

Appearance:

668e4532bd1824a3b88b25c115a77d69.jpg

Fell is everything Anna is not. Not only in personality but in looks, too. Where Anna only reaches the height of 5’3 (with her platform boots on), Fell is an entire foot taller. Where Anna is average, maybe even a little chubby, in build, Fell is absolutely ripped with that perfect hourglass figure. Where Anna is darker in skin tone and hair color, Fell is pale with long golden hair. Where Anna’s hair(beneath her weave) is wavy and short, Fell’s hair falls straight down past her wide hips. Where Anna’s face is sprinkled with freckles, Fell has no blemish upon her soft skin. Where Anna dresses modestly, Fell wears the magical armor given to her by her patron god. Fell is everything Anna wants to be (though admittedly a lot more).

Player Personality:
Anna carries a stereotype of a menacing, witchy goth. It problems doesn’t help that she has Resting Boss Face Syndrome , and has a penchant for wearing black almost exclusively, dying her hair, and covering her face with dark, heavy makeup. The reality of her personality is that she is a social awkward, quiet, reserved girl that always tries to do the right thing. However, that social awkwardness makes her come off as stiff and rude. That quietness makes her seem brooding and unfriendly. That shyness makes her seem standoffish and unapproachable. That desire to always do the right thing gets misconstrued and misunderstood. Despite the negative reputation she carries, Anna is a sweet, polite girl with a love of cute things. She longs to be outgoing with many friends, which is why she harbors a strong crush for Peter. That being said, she has never acted upon this crush, happy to watch him from afar (which to others seems a little unnerving and creepy).

Character Personality:
Fell is everything that Anna wants to be: outgoing, flirty, beautiful, strong, smart, and good. However, Fell is an extreme version of this desire. She has absolutely no filter. She says whatever is on her mind, no matter how rude or blunt. Still, her Charisma is extremely high, though that could be due more to her body than her personality. She flirts with absolutely everyone, regardless of race or gender, and has a reputation for sleeping around constantly. She doesn’t stick with one person too long, always looking to spread the gospel of her god to someone new. That being said, there is one person she particularly lusts after, a fighter by the name of Julius, though he seems oblivious to her charms. If she can’t get what she wants with seduction, she is not above using force. Her holy magic seems to channel through the dual weapons, a battle axe and morningstar, she carries. Though she is slow to anger, she is extremely protective of anybody she deems her friend, and can go into a berserker rage, smashing down everyone and everything in sight, regardless of collateral damage. Above all her debauchery, Fell is extremely intelligent. The downside to this is that she possesses no common sense. Everyone thinks of her as an idiot, too trusting and naïve. There is a lot of Chaos in Fell’s Chaotic Good. Though she does everything with the best intentions, she always leaves a path of destruction, and just generally a mess, behind her.

Player Background:
Anna was raised by a single mother, who, though she loved and supported her daughter very much, did not understand her in the least. Anna was used to being alone with her imaginary friends as company. As she grew older, she transferred her imaginary friends to paper, creating worlds and stories for them. Sure, she had a few friends, other alternative kids that looked past her quiet nature, but what she really wanted was to be part of the popular crowd. She thought that to be popular, she would have to be the opposite of herself: outgoing, blonde, and white. So, she created a character with those traits, though admittedly, it seemed the character grew further than what Anna had originally wanted. She enjoyed this character that was so different from her, and wanted to see her in action. After a long time of gathering up courage, she finally joined a campaign, which just so happened to feature her crush.

Character Background:
Not a whole lot is known about Fell’s past except that she hails from the land of DawnSun and at some point her life came across Seviin, god of debauchery. He bestowed upon her his holy gifts, strengthened only by the company she keeps in her bed and the alcohol she drinks. Her strength and magic is stronger the drunker she is. That being said, she is still impaired by the alcohol and usually does more damage than good. Somewhere along her way of being chosen as the paladin of Seviin, she earned her title “The Falling Dawn”, an insult really. It acts as a play on her name and as an oxymoron, showcasing her contrasting nature. She wears this title proudly, though, not realizing its more mean definition.
She has no family to speak of and instead draws unsuspecting people into her makeshift family, claiming nearly everyone as a friend. The group she is currently with just so happens to be her most recent additions.

Name:
Player - Penelope Flora
Character - Alita

Title: Red Death

Age:
Player - 17
Character - 23

Race: Tiefling

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Class: Rogue

Appearance: View attachment 385380
