Stranded in the Underworld

Hey guys,


I just have a question: Lets say your Solar Exalted ended up stranded in the underworld with no apparent way out. (IE. No nearby shadowland).


What would be some means for him/her to survive in your opinnion? IE. How would they go about regaining essence. I know ghosts and abyssals can take it from living beings when they're in creation, so what are some options for Solars in the underworld?

Perhaps attuning to an Underworld Manse?  I can't quite remember if that'd work...but Abyssals can use Creation Manses to restore their essence in Creation, just as they can use Underworld Manses to restore their essence in the Underworld.  So, barring any rules I can't remember offhand, that would be a decent route to take.


Or maybe figure out some system of procuring worship, like the ghosts do.

If they have any hearthstones from Creation, they would still get the motes. I'd personally allow Charms such as Essence Gathering Temper to remain functional. Stunts are also a possibility.

I thought that a creation heartstone would not work in the Underworld.  At least that is how it was ruled in my game since there was no ruling we could find.

In general, if something's not explicitly prohibited, then it's implicitly allowed.


The fact that the books go into great detail about the limitations of Underworld hearthstones, yet don't comment at all on Creation hearthstones pretty much makes the case for the latter to work everywhere.

Ok so essence is figuered out now how about food there is very little food in the underworld that a mortal can live on, living food has to imported into the underworld for mortals that vist exalts included

Exalted can go quite a long time without food, especially with the right Charms.

And if you have enough bearers and followers, you can probably work something* out.  Doesn't guarantee that all of your Donner Party is going to make it out, but you spins the wheel, you takes your chances...


*So long as you have an adequate supply of hot sauce. ANYTHING is considerably more edible with the proper application of hot sauce. Save perhaps okra, God's Slimiest of Vegetables...

Hmmm...I hadn't thought about it like this.  I'd assumed that Creation Manses wouldn't work in the Underworld as well, but since my PC will be entering the Underworld soon and has a hearthstone, I like this interpretation better.    Is it just the absence of mention that leads you to suspect this?

Well, it's somewhat of a general principle. If the rules don't say you CAN'T do something, then it's reasonable to assume that you CAN.


Is there a specifc rule stating wether or not Excellent Strike works against Fair Folk? No.


Is it reasonable to assume that it does? Yes, I think so.

Jack it is not that the food of the underworld is nasty to humans although it is it dosn't nurish them evan if they do eat it
