Starfleet Captain, USS Rainier (NCC-92604)
A piece of art kinda gave me a small little story idea. Picturing a ship that's wrecked at sea, with no survivors, except for a baby boy, who is only alive, because a mermaid finds him, and saves his life, becoming a foster mother, taking him into the deep (mer-magic lets the boy survive underwater) to raise him as her own.
The boy grows up with the merfolk in the deep, but is looked upon by others as an outcast, is often bullied by other merkids, has difficulty fitting in, and just often gets the short end of the stick. I can picture others trying to lure him back to the surface as a cruel prank, as his ability to survive underwater wears off if he ever surfaces, and he'd need help surviving again, I can picture him often being sad that he's often bullied, and his mother often needing to be the to provide motherly support as he tries his best just to be accepted.
Don't know if this is something I'll bother writing, since no matter how I try and plan such a story, it always kinda feels like a strange mix of The Little Mermaid and Tarzan, but I just thought I'd at least share this little premise that came to me.
