Lyra
Genre: Rock
Name: Stolma Starkovna
Age: 325
Gender: Female
Species: Vampire
Appearance: Stolma Has long, dark brown hair which desaturates to her already deathly flesh. Her skin isn't the only thing corpse-like as vampires in this world look as undead as they are with milk-clouded eyes and icy lips. She stands at 5'6 , but healthily so. Her main attire consists of clothing from the Victorian era. When she roams the streets, she looks tired of living. A picture is attached.
Personality: Stolma is independent, but also insecure about her moral success. She feels morally obligated to do God's work and protect his children, but always feels like a failure because she can't do it all. When she does save people, she is brutal in her justice. She is nearly a militant Atheist due to her life and experiences in the world.
Backstory: Before I begin, I apologize if the Russian dialogue isn't exactly correct for anyone who can speak it. I used an online translator.
Stolma was born in the worst place a woman like her could live; 27th century Russia. Not only was she resilient against the idea of restraint, but she was also enamored with a girl her parents thought to be her best friend. Anna was a polar opposite, but it seemed to work. She fallowed social codes of misogyny, while Stolma tried to guide her away. The only rule she broke was out of her control. The two were forced to end their secret life when their fathers forced them to marry. Stolma lived generously for the time, rarely being forced upon and being allowed to go on outings in public. Her lover, on the other hand, was not so lucky. She was constantly being beaten, berated, and used. Her husband was sadistic and power-hungry. She was not the only target as many servants had experienced terror with every footstep.
One fateful night, Stolma was taking a stroll with her spouse when something attacked. She struggled to pull the humanoid off of the body until she was next. The vampire decided against finishing her off and turned her. Sunbeams scorched her in the morning, so she stuck to the shadows until night fell again. When this happened, she hurried to take Anna from her husband and Russia altogether. After explaining her condition, she began her demands.
"Мы-вы должны пойти. Бежать, прежде чем вы убили."---We- you must go. Flee before you get killed.
"Столма, я не могу. Мой муж-" ---Stolma, I can't. My husband-
Before she could begin pleading, the husband was screaming at her about how much of a slut she was and to leave his woman alone. He went on to declare me a witch and monster, then turned to punish Anna for fraternizing with such a filthy creature. Just the same, she took his whip before he could even try to begin the abuse. Her voice bled vengeance:
"Для каждого ресниц вы оставили на мой милый!"---For every lash you left on MY DARLING!
Once again, she urged. This time, Anna was terrified and faked compliance. Stolma would soon be on the run from men condemning her to death for both witchcraft and murder.
This betrayal lead her into a life of solitude as far as social interactions. She aimed to protect everyone with her curse, causing her self-hatred. This poor woman was burdened with a monster life, good heart, and being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Her past would never leave her memory.
Inspiration:
*Interstate Love Song
A lie from her only love made her long for escape more than ever. ("Leavin' on a southern train. Only yesterday you lied") She swore to save her and still can't let go, only to be under the treat of a painful death because of her. ("Breathing is the hardest thing to do with all I've said and all that's dead for you") It almost seems as though Anna enjoys the subjugation. In her worst moments, she looks back to their days before marriage. ("Promises of what I seemed to be. Only watched the time go by. All of these things you said to me")
*Sound of Silence
She must now shade a part of her life for the second time. This time, theirs a different kind of darkness mixed in. ("Hello darkness, my old friend. I've come to talk with you again.") A sadness of losing all that is normal and knowing Anna would surely die in a convet. ("Because a vision softly creeping. Left its seeds while I was sleeping") She can't help but wander what would have happened, had she left Anna. At least she would have been able to love her children and live. ("And the vision that was planted in my brain still remains within the sound of silence") With the experience, she now abhors mortal interactions. ("In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'neath the halo of a street lamp. I turned my collar to the cold and damp") Few cared to investigate the injustices. ("People talking without speaking, people hearing without listening") The worst that could happen is a man's property being damaged. Eventually, she began leaving more prominent and foreboding symbolism in her kills. ("And the sign said, 'The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls and tenement halls.' And whispered in the sound of silence")
*He Is
This song literally speaks of the god of the underworld, but I took a different perspective where it is cursing God himself. Stolma can't help but wander how such a perfect being would allow so many to suffer. Her only conclusion is, he isn't even close. He is like the husband of all, controlling every move. ("Nostro dis pater, nostr' alma mater." Roughly translated to "Our unholy father, our master") He judges all, but ignores his own sins. He is responsible for all the suffering she has witnessed and her damnation to Hell. ("He is- He's the shining and the light without whom I cannot see. And he is Insurrection, he is spite, he's the force that made me be.") Still, no one dares to question his word and follows it in hopes of paradise. ("We're hiding here inside a dream and all our doubts are now destroyed. The guidance of the morning stars will lead the way into the void.") Lucifer seems more appealing than their so-called God, who forbade the love she needed. ("We're standing here by the abyss and the world is in flames. Two star-crossed lovers reaching out to the beast with many names.")
