Fantasy [Still Looking - 18/12] Shake Your Chains [Always Open. Just Started]

A Awakening AKIRA I'm considering creating a goblin mercenary clan based out of Sunset Canyon. I'll likely keep them out of most of the central plots and just mix things up with other outlaws in the canyon.

Sounds absolutely fantastic - I was really hoping someone would be interested in the conflicts around Sunset Canyon (Can you tell I'm a Mad Max fan. It'll be a #struggle to not throw in roadhogs and motorbikes. But I am strong) so honestly that sounds fantastic. I'd really like to see how you develop/design them and what you come up with! For the most part, they can stay out of the central plot entirely. Only if this RP gets particularly far may they find it ah- unavoidable, shall we say?

It'll likely take a few days for me to research, read all the lore, and then put everything together. Hopefully you'll let me know what you think once they're posted. I appreciate GM feedback.

Honestly, you'd be lucky to not get feedback, in that I am prone to geeking about about these things and will likely ramble about it to the point where you wish the internet could be used for murder. I look forward to seeing what you come up with! And RE Lore, it's all very flexible and there's no set monolith.

I'm ready now mayne.
apologies Mirlin, I think I'm going to wait a bit for exams to be over for the fair NA, and also so I can finish my coursework and plotting out some of the overarching plot for this RP. I hope you'll stay with us despite the wait :3 Like you said, we need our dragon prophet of doom :P

Updates To Come Shortly

head = a dead bean today, so I'm off to fight an epic battle with some pathogens. ASAP tomorrow, here is what shall be being added:

The History of Solus
A 'quick and easy' / tl;dr version of all the Lore for easy browsing and reference
Polishing off the Lore section to have the basics officially finished
A guide as to what plot threads and happenings will be the 'starting point' of the roleplay

Hope everyone's well and as always, any questions you are more than welcome to PM me!

Oh my gosh I am interested. I'll be going over every scrap of this RP over tonight, and I'll start brainstorming a character tomorrow.

elextrified elextrified

I've got my eye on the Winter Ruler role right now. I'm thinking a demon queen might be interesting to play.

There's a start for a character sheet. I took a lot of liberties with the lore, like calling the ruler and emperor and having it tradition that they're named after the god of the religion (since they're supposedly deified). Also took liberties with war and fighting between summer and winter, which I read was happening at some point, but have little clue about the details and time periods.

If I messed anything up, definitely let me know and I'll edit as necessary.

Sorry. I had my eye on that position too. My guy's a bachelor, though. Maybe your demon queen can marry him somewhere down the line and become ruler that way.

Otherwise, there's lots of other possibilities for winter royalty positions. Sorry again.

MagicPenguin MagicPenguin Whoops, sorry! I didn't think to check the rest of the interest thread. I can alter my character idea easily enough. Maybe someone in an advisory role for your character? Or a bodyguard. Hm. I will think and wait for your character's profile. c:

the lore is really loose, atm so i'm sure it won't be an issue. gm is sleeping rn but i'll go take a peek!

yess let the arranged marriages begin!

MagicPenguin MagicPenguin Just finished reading it! Looks awesome.

elextrified elextrified I think I'm gonna grab a winter council role instead. I think I can pretty easily adapt my character idea to an advisor for the court.

honestly, every liberty you took was FANTASTIC and I'm so glad you did, the Lore is entirely flexible to people modding it and making it how they want it to be so I'm glad you took those liberties. I especially loved the idea about changing the name to Varakos.

I'm going to say that there has technically been 'no war in bah sing sae' between Winter-Summer for 300 years, but in reality there's been a shit ton of little spats here and there, as well as the systematic take of of the midlands, with numerous wars between Winter and local cultures, as well as summers who dared stray to far from their territory. I hope this will still work?

Welcome to the club! I am so glad you're interested and liking things so far. Especially since a demon councillor will be involved - I am always, always weak to a good demon feeding people advice :P I look forward to meeting them when you post them up!

Hey winter royalty - I'm thinking of creating a character whose official role is to serve as protector/bodyguard to Rudolf's bastard prince son (if he is kept in the castle. If not, they'll likely serve a either the king's bodyguard or maybe for Dover Dover 's demon) who in reality functions s assassin for the emperor.

If we go down the angle of Dover Dover 's demon bodyguard, it might be interesting in that there'd be the potential for conflicts of interest and the question of loyalty - especially since who knows if Dover Dover is loyal to the disowned Empress's children....

What are you kids thinking, especially elextrified elextrified and your prince?

Thanks! So glad you approve.

As far as the war stuff goes, if you're okay with what I've written--if nothing in his backstory contradicts what you intended for this world--then so am I. Is there anything in the CS you think that I should remove or add or edit in light of the fact that there hasn't been an official war between these two kingdoms for three centuries?

I reread everything to check that'd fit that lore and yeah it all works :) I'm going to make my character assigned originally as Rudfolf's protector/squire when he first inherited the throne, whether they're then reassigned to someone else can come up either in the RP or pre-RP depending on what elextrified elextrified and Dover Dover fancy. Either way, they're rudolf's lackey =w=

sorry it took me a min to reply,

umm, i’m down for either! it really just depends on MagicPenguin MagicPenguin and if rudolf would realistically give a bodyguard to his kid while he was there or if he’d keep it for himself/give it to his advisor ^^’

It depends on the situation. If the bastard prince is already at a point where he's more or less accepted into the court as a whole, then I think it would be reasonable for Rudolf to assign him a bodyguard or a squire or a personal servant of some kind. If he's only just arriving for the first time, like "hey dad, I'm your son, gimme a title," he may not; after all, Rudolf has a lot of bastards and he can't (or rather won't) give out bodyguards to every single one who comes knocking at his door. He provides for all his children (the ones he knows about, anyway), but doesn't necessarily let them into the palace or give them men to watch over them.

You also have to take into account the bastard's parentage. He's going to treat his bastard with a random washerwoman a lot differently than he'd treat a bastard he had with the daughter of a noble house. The latter is a lot more likely to be taken in by the castle than the former, I would think.

As for how a bastard son would get to the point that he'd be accepted into Rudolf's court, well he'd likely have known the Emperor for some time and/or distinguished himself in some way. Perhaps he came to the castle as a child, started as a lowly stablehand or something, and worked his way into Rudolf's good graces through hard work or exceptional talent. Maybe he was already full grown, made a name for himself on the field of battle and was accepted relatively quickly because of it. Maybe he's a particularly skilled political schemer and somehow wormed his way into the court with some subtle maneuvering of some type.

As for the bodyguard, I like the idea of him being Rudolf's squire when he first takes the crown. That would mean, 22 years later, the present, the bodyguard would probably now be a full knight in his own right, and probably a very well trusted one because Rudolf has known him from a young age and has likely taught him a lot of what he knows about knighthood, values, nobility, fighting, magic, etc.

This would be the perfect person to confide in for dirty work like assassinations or spying or backroom deals without attracting the attention of others. It would make sense, in this light, if Rudolf assigned the bodyguard to a bastard son whom he had come to accept into his household; he wouldn't be close enough to Rudolf himself on a regular basis that anyone should think he's doing the Emperor's dirty work behind the scenes, but he'd be at hand and easy to contact covertly for said dirty work if necessary. A person like this would be the bastard prince's guard mostly in appearance, but more like like Rudolf's knife in the shadows in reality. It would be an interesting subterfuge for Rudolf, because it would put up the appearance that he cares about his bastard son when in reality he's only using the bastard son as a way to disguise this bodyguard's true purpose.

I'm 100% going for the 'knife in the shadows' angle for my character (Grel, for ease of referral) - as far as can be perceived, they're totally loyal to Rudolf, unquestioning, literally like a shadow hand.

I agree with all of the rest as well - it depends on how elextrified elextrified would like to play their prince. If they go for the distanced son who is not yet accepted, one way to link them all up together could be having Grel assigned to investigate them and gather information for Rudolf, in the event that the prince is either trying to get in with the castle, or up to something else deemed worth keeping an eye on. Again, it'll depend on what the prince is going for! I'll edit those details into their sheet once we have a better idea of the prince and the winter court!

Yeah, whatever you guys come up with we can find some way to make it work. We'll have an Emperor, a prince, and a bodyguard in some kind of arrangement that we can adjust to fit our needs, of that I feel confident. The details can be ironed out as our various characters are created and developed.

For now, though, I leave you, as I need to sleep. G'night, ladies and gents.
