Still Friends

Humor

The Fool
What it is, is that a bunch of childhood friends made a promise they would be friends forever and if they needed on another they would always be there to help.

Well we all know how those work...

The 4 friends split up throughout the years and now don't really associate with one another.

This is the last and final year of their senior year. The main character who is stuck in her own imagination decides to collect on these promises with her old friends, with needing their help to take over the world.

A young girl who thought she had the 4 best friends in the world would play everyday with them. From the time they were in elementary school class, to when the sun finally vanished from the sky the 4 were always together. They lived on a cul-de-sac (a dead end street where houses line both sides. Usually is a tight knit community.) Some of their parents where like second mothers and or fathers to the children. It was a case of inseparable bonds that each of them would be friends forever.

Forever is an amount of time that seems relatively easy for a small child to say. Time is a cruel thing.

Parents of one of the 4 lost their jobs and their mortgage was to heavy to balance along with the bills. Having to sell the house the 4 friends would end up shattered and broken. So at the end of summer would when their dream lives come to an end. The last day of the Summer Fair was the first sever of the bonds. On the grass hill under the sparks of the farewell fireworks. The young girl gave them the prize she worked hard to get. The Prize was a quad colored circle that broke apart into fourths. The young girl tied each individual piece to a string bracelet and handed one to each of their friends and under the colors of red and green from the fireworks they promised that no matter what happened or wherever they went they would always be best friends.

Words only last so long. The group that was left began to drift apart whether from moving away or finding their own lives and growing up. The 2 friends left scarce remembered the times of old imagining that they were heroes with lazer swords fighting evil or their bicycles were there trusty steed as they were knights searching for a princess. The young imaginative girl was sad watching them care for girls/boys or getting a job and worrying about college. they all parted ways.

She just never grew up. Wanting to relive the past where things were easier the now growing girl stayed stuck in her mind all throughout high school watching her friends evolve into things the didn't want to or couldn't understand. That was freshman year when the lost fourth returned. The boy who had moved away returned, but was way different from before. It seemed like the promise was forever broken.

Using her imaginative whit throughout the years of being bullied for being weird or different from the school populous the young girl painstakingly created a plan to bring them all back together. Getting up the courage to act in a final gambit to get them all back together. The young girl wrote out a note to each and stuffed it into her 3 ex friends lockers a crudely drawn and colored with crayon 4th of a circle on it. The color matched each persons piece and the message said.

I need you, please help.

Meet me at the hill on our last meeting I will explain there.

Chapter 1: Pieces

of a

Puzzle

______________________________________________________

The note crinkled from the pressing of Rolands thumb. The other hand slowly raised to the back of his head scratching his scalp under his beanie. His lips uttered the words with no audible sound coming from his mouth.

"huh...?" Rol sighed taking the note in hand and folding it into a tiny rectangle and placing it in his back pocket. His head arched back, looking up towards the sky his mind raced with what this note meant. Someone was asking him personally for help and it felt important but he just couldn't remember what it was. Rol slammed his locker shut from which the note was stuffed in.

"Rol! We got work today stop being lazy lets go!" The ASB president called to him over the mob of children buzzing about in the hall.

"Alright, alright, im coming." Rol responded walking into the large mess of bodies and disappearing with the female president a slight smile left on his face.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

The sound of the gears moving on the bicycle clicked and whipped with Rol flying down the sidewalk. The sun was retreating over the sky, the giant orb like some master painter flowed over the once blue sky with a faded orange the clouds a fading purple. Rol's arm flexed as he flew from the curb and onto the empty road the bike hit the pavement with a sudden jar the front wheel kicked left and right.

"AHH!" Rol screamed as he flew from the side of the bike. His body slammed onto the ground taking a violent Rol the momentum finally disappeared as the ting of his bikes frame hit the ground in tandem.

"Ugh, come on..." Rol took to his feet the pain of the new crash hitting him slightly holding a light limp he made his way back to the bike picking it up he swung his leg back over top the neck and took off again feet pushing the pedals to the max.

Rol could see a hill in the distance with a figure outlined by the dusk held sky. He wasn't to late. The face that was once filled with urgency was replaced with a smile as the bike cut through the wind the cold coming night air stinging his face around his goggles.

"WAHOOO!" He yelled as he ollie'd back onto the curb as a coming car wanted to drive past.

A few more minutes and he was finally at the base of the hill. A street light was the only sign of immediate civilization as it painted the darkening land with a hue of yellow, white moths flickered and flew around the bright bulb. An empty bus stop was a couple minutes down the road. The streets were empty from drivers now as the outskirts of the city were devoid of most life.

The tire wheels slid to a stop from the brake as Rol hopped off and continued to walk up the moist grass hill the chain chiming in with a click every few feet of being wheeled. Taking his left hand Rol moved the goggles from his eyes and back up to their resting place on top of his cap. Rol's head swiveled taking a look behind him the sub urban city lights lit up as the final signs of night appeared. Behind him down the road he could make out two figures walking in the same direction he had just come with his bike. The large hill climb came to an end with his next step he reached the crest, a small girl underneath a large tree perched at the top stepped out a lantern light on the grass lit up. The warm light and glow made it seem like a light house signaling all those around of the importance. Rol looked to much at the light as he winced not enjoying the bright glow as much as the tiny summer bugs around it. His vision came back the girl small girl stepped out to great him. The girl was from his class the brown hair, the charm bracelet, the small stature Madison Paige. Before she could open her mouth to greet him Rol took the initiative.

"Hey Madison!" Rol called out as he jogged slightly over to where she stood.

This girl was notoriously a loner. Not because she wasn't attractive just her personality made her a peculiar one. In high school Rol learned the less you stood out the safer you were. She was the target of female snide remarks on what not to be like, and guys made bets on having to ask her out as punishment for losing. If she needed his help he would try his best.<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_07/57a8bfaaafe04_bossuneats.png.1a1fae99b4596b5419f7b1f4a7f37d9d.png" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="22943" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_07/57a8bfaaafe04_bossuneats.png.1a1fae99b4596b5419f7b1f4a7f37d9d.png" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

The combination of anxiousness and excitement had created a strange, heavy, feeling in Mads' stomach. She squirmed, attempting to quell the foreign feeling with movement, but it seemed that even subconsciously her body knew the outcome of this meeting could determine so much to come.

Sighing, she shifted slightly backwards against the tall tree behind her, scratching Ferdinand's head as it plopped into her lap. Slowly, she lifted her head to the sky, closing her eyes and letting the images flood through, blurring and distorting the night sky above her until fireworks burst and shimmered through the bleak.

"Rol, you should let me use'at sparkler, we c'n trade, n' take turns!" Madison yelled, waving her sparkler high above her head in a desperate attempt to imitate the fireworks that exploded above her. Unfortunately for her, Rol's longer legs had carried him away, much faster than she could ever hope to run, to Nicole.

She laughed, despite herself, stumbling to a halt and putting the sparkler in between her teeth so that she could tighten the ribbon that Daddy had put in her hair. Tapping a sandal into the wet grass beneath her, she looked up at the lit sky and twirled, each flare becoming a star as the sod around her grew hard and weathered, growing looming craters and dusty rocks. She twisted right, throwing her hands out as Rol and Nicole now took bounds across the lunar terrain, their sparklers expanding and contorting until they took on their true shapes, space pistols, used to blast the ex-terrestrial nasties back into their homes.

"Get'em, guys!" she shrieked, pulling her own pistol back into her grip and rushing towards a nasty, green, scaled beast, with a few clicks of her tongue, her pistol was firing rapidly, and the scaled thing was getting what it was asking for, but it only took a brief glance up for her to notice the huge rocket sprouting out from the rugged terrain. Her eyes traveled up, and up, and up, and up, as soon she found herself flat on her back, thrown off her feet by the view.

The gray, rocky ground melted away, and her eyes focused in on Ed, high up in the big tree that rested on top of the hill, cheek smushed against the trunk as his glasses reflected the fireworks he was staring at so keenly. Madison scrambled to her feet, narrowly avoiding Rol's clumsy stop, that ended up resulting in Nicole smashing into the two of them, and all three of them were sent tumbling into the grass. The whimpers and groans eventually turned into giggles, and Madison eventually found her head resting on Rol's stomach, and her legs tangled amongst Nicole's.

A red firework burst forth, sending blue, gold, and pink sparks shimmering outward. Madison tilted her head... it almost looked like a smile.

Footsteps shook Madison free from her daydream, and she blinked, twisting over quickly to see a broad shouldered, lanky, figure approaching. Excitement bubbling forth, she fumbled to turn on the lantern, leaping to her feet and quickly walking down the hill to meet the figure half way, but his long legs were already upon her before she could take a step.

"Hey Madison!"

"Rol! Wow, you came! I mean, I'm not surprised you came, but it-" she paused, lifting her cap slightly and looking upward to stare at his goggles rather than his eyes, "You think those are the others?" she said quickly, biting her lip and looking over her shoulder as Ferdinand bounded over to Rol to give him a sloppy greeting.

"I need you, please help.

Meet me at the hill on our last meeting I will explain there."

The message was followed by a blood red quarter circle just underneath the scribble.

"But I wanted the blue one." Nicole scowled as the ruby piece was pressed into her palm. Before the others could say anything however, she closed her fingers around the piece, grinning a toothy grin. "I suppose it doesn't matter. Whatever colour it is doesn't change our friendship. We'll be together to the very end. Ain't that right?"

Nicole bit her lower lip, tightening her features into a scowl. Deep within the cold depths of her still heart, something pulsed. A far-off memory came to her mind, almost like a dream. Whatever colour it is doesn't change our friendship. What a foolish thought. It was a stupid thought that only stupid kids thought of. Friends to the end? As if. The world was cruel and harsh, and the way ahead was frought with jagged rocks and thorny brushes, and everyone will end up going their own way, some time or another. She slammed her locker shut, spinning the dial of the lock, and slinked off, placing the piece of paper on the top of a disposal bin as she went. She didn't have the time to worry about the past.

-------

An evening under the dark skies, on the hill that the four used to frequent. The odd four: the tomboy, the dreamer, the brute and the leader, always together. Their most memorable of their last days was spent upon the hill, where their innocent eyes, eyes that still had life, dreams and so much ahead of them were lit up by the fire flowers that lit up the night sky, punctuated only by the winking stars. Under the same sky, they had promised to be together, never to be seperated in heart, even if they were in person. Ed was leaving, and everyone mourned, but one of them- she forgot who. Perhaps it was her, maybe it was Madison, maybe it was Ed himself- claimed that they would always be the best of friends.

Nicole wanted to believe that. She wanted to believe in that so much, but life took its toll. Everything began to fall apart. Ed never came back, and when he did, he had changed, like all of them. Roland became obsessed with himself, and drifted further from Madison, and Nicole herself found solace in solitude. Away from people, hated the humans, hated the noise. Hate and spite.

Inside that cold, cold heart, however, only one thing remained unfrozen. Something that kept her remotely human. It was the fervent wish that the four were reunited, that they could be together again, and this time to the very end.

A foolish thought. A fool's foolish tomfoolery that fooled around in a foolish fool's foolish head. Nevertheless, an unkillable thought. Nicole exited her classes, as disgruntled as before. The note had wormed its way into her mind, and stayed there, unwilling to budge. She stood in front of her locker, the light of sunset casting through the windows behind her. She opened the locker and jammed her books inside, before slamming it shut. She turned to leave, but halted.

The light was cast upon the unassuming bin, illuminating its sickening green shade. Atop of the bin's lid, however, lay a piece of folded paper. Nicole cast a furtive look around the hall, where the rest of the remaining students were either caught up in their own conversations or rushing to head home. She took in a deep breath, righted her glasses and moved towards the bin, picking up the note.

"I hate all of you," she muttered under her breath as she tucked the note into her jacket's pocket. The odd thing was, her tone was light, without the scathing spite it usually carried when she said those words.

--------

The minivan trundled up to the base of the hill. Her manager had given her the vehicle when he had gotten a car of his own, for both outside her job and for it. It facilitated quick travel between her school and her work place, or from her home to her work place, and vice versa. It was convenient for her, to say the least, and it wasn't a rolling hunk of junk. She exited the minivan, shutting the door behind her, and looked up towards the tree. The same tree she had reclined under with three other children years ago. A far off memory, like a dream. Nostalgia choked her, and her tear ducts seemed ready to exude their load, long inactive. Nicole gritted her teeth, putting on that mask of a scowl again, and wiped her eyes with her jacket's sleeve before they even moistened, and strode up the hill, two figures already there before her.

Madison and Roland. The dreamer and the leader, and here she was, the tomboy. She wanted to reach out to them, shout their names, embrace them both, but she couldn't. To smile again, to laugh with them, to look at the flowers in the sky again seemed so impossible for them now. So much had changed. So little remained. Instead, she brushed her skirt down and shoved her hands into her pockets, and made her slow ascent up the hill, to the tree where everything began and everything ended.

Something or other about a hill, not enough time to remember. Need to get home, need to eat, need to check messages, need to sleep, need to get to level 10, need to download new expansion, need to send hellos out. Too much, too much, too much. The letter was not priority, no way could he rearrange his schedule around a hill, not enough time in the day. He could very easily spend that time sleeping, or gaming! It really didn't matter much, he was headed home no matter what. His phone died, and if he did not at least tell his mom that he was headed out, then he was sure he'd start hearing sirens. It wouldn't take too long, he only lived a few blocks away. He had to walk home sure, but stepping through this path tediously enough forced him to speed through.

When he arrived, his mom was still had work, and he assumed that her boyfriend was too. So this was a pointless endeavor after all. At the least, he hooked his phone up to the charge and went to his fridge, hunting some foods. There was some good stuff, plenty of left overs, but laziness pushed him to grab two slices of bread, some belloni in the middle, and suffice with several sandwiches of the make. He spent about an hour on his laptop, snaking and browsing, checking his messages. Momentarily, he'd stick his head up, listening for the garage door or the front door, waiting for some type of indication for his mother's arrival, but reminded himself that his two little annoyances would warn him with yips. After his internet wandering, Ed checked his phone for texts, social sites, and what not. At that point, he was feeling tired, and felt it was prime time for a nap. Shower first. After the shower, drying off, and picking out some clothes to sleep in, ring ring ring went the door. Ed rushed to get his clothes on and crashed into the door, expecting something he wasn't really sure, but when he opened it, he was only slightly disappointed.

"Hey, Marky-bud." He just walked away from the door, leaving it open knowing that Mark was familiar enough to walk in and go to where they usually hung out in his out. While Mark made himself comfortable, Ed went back to his room to fix his clothes up properly. He checked his phone and saw the time once more, that stupid note reverberating in his brain, it was headache inducing.

Ed began his usual routine before an outing, cologne and all, and then pushed Mark over to his car and had him drive Ed over to the meeting spot. It was a silent drive, and Ed really felt no need to explain anything. He mostly just kept his eyes keen on his phone.

As they arrived on the hill, Ed could figure out that he was clearly the last one to arrive. Two people were on the hill already, and Nicole's car was sitting there. What did Nicole even do anymore, Ed only ever sees her smoking now and days. Being as she has a car, he felt it was safe enough to assume she had some type of income, so a job or generous parents. Ed needed a job. There's Roland, meh.

And there's Madison. Ed's eyes went down to his knees, his glasses hanging on by his ears. As Mark pulled into a parking spot, Ed looked outward from the hill with his hand pressing against his neck. The air felt heavier than usual.

"I don't think we'll take long. If you have to go, I can walk home. Thanks for the ride, bud." Ed stepped out of the car with a grunt, straightened out his clothes, checked the time on his phone, and began towards hill. His eyes darted to the three, Nicole, Roland, Madd- Ed popped his phone out, remembering to send a text to his mom, telling her he was out to the hill. By the time he was actually in a casual talking distance, Ed was slipping his phone back into his pocket, only to quickly check the time on it before taking his hand away from his phone.

Ed searched around for something to say, but wasn't sure if there was something to be said.

"Well, I'm here. What's up?" he pressed his glasses up.

Others? What others?

Rol stood there puzzled and then on queue the sound of smushed grass came from behind. Rol took his foot and pressed it against the kick stand popping it with a click he tried to put his bike down. The metal kick stand slid on the surface of a rock sending chills down Rol's spine from the painful grinding noise. Rol bent down and retrieved the tiny flat headed pebble holding the cold surface in his palm his fingers closed around it. His thumb began to press against the smooth surface and began to press and move his thumb along it.

Rol slowly turned round as the footsteps got louder and a head appeared up the crest. A girl whose face seemed to be frozen in a peculiar attitude. whitened face with dirty blonde hair that was splayed with a slight dishevelment and a holier than thou look upon her.

The skin of his thumb grey dark red as he rubbed the pebble harder. Rol had seen her before but couldn't remember where, of course she went to his school, but was this one of Madisons friends? Wait... Madison doesn't have any friends. The only reason Rol recognized Madison is because everyone knows who the weird kid that just doesn't fit in anywhere is, but this wall flower never even made a spec on his radar.

The sound of rocks snapping under tires was uncanny as the faded yellow streaks of low beams clicked off from down below. Another person surfaced this time a man with glasses and lots of hair.... that was pretty much it his only defining features. The lackadaisical movement as he breached the birth of the hill the slight body disposition. Great... an Elitist asshole. Rol sighed as he slipped his phone out in his other hand clicked the light on which slightly blinded him to take a look at the time 9:12. Rol began to shift uncomfortably from foot to foot tucking his phone away, he stroked the pebble faster.

"rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr............."

Rol's tummy roared with ferocious intent almost eating itself alive. Closing one eye he winced in embarrassment of the loud sound.

"hehe..." He forced out in a light chuckle. Slipping his backpack off and resting it on top of his bikes seat he unzipped the top pouch and rummaged through it. Random papers a half empty water bottle and a notebook shuffled around as he looked for his....

Rol remembered he ate his emergency chip bag earlier today when he was working with the council president. His stomach rumbled again

"rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr." zipping back up the pouch and balancing the backpack on the seat he turned back to face to group.

Why can't people ever meet at restaurants or snack places... its always meet in a mysterious alley way or behind school or some far off hill overlooking a large field. I mean its after dinner time and I'm hungry, these people don't seem friendly and I'm hungry... I could go for some soup... or chips or maybe a nice sandwich. But really in all honesty does no one think these meetings through. Plus if you want peoples help you should feed them I would be more inclined to agree if I had a tasty burger in front of me. Shit.... I would do anything for a donut right now. People need to learn how to plan better.

A slight breeze rolled over the hill tickling Rols nostrils a hint of cologne coming from bush head over there. What is he planning on getting la-... really what the hell am I here for. I'm so hungry.... If it comes down to it. Rol scanned the three around him. If the world became an apocolypse right now, I could probably eat Madison first since she is the smallest and she has the highest decay rate. The other guy seems like trouble but the tall skinny girl probably has a knife so she is dangerous. I'd prolly be able to take out the guy then the girl... maybe make a survival pact. I wonder what people tastes like? Chicken? but then everything always tastes like chicken. But humans are closer to pigs so we taste like pigs right? I mean we do the dialysis with pigs or use their skin for skin grafts. So people taste like pigs. and pigs have bacon and I love bacon. I should ask Dad and Nathan if they wanna go to Denny's tomorrow for some eggs over my hammy. Wait... Nathan has band practice in the morning maybe later. Yeah later... I wonder.

"rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"

Rol looked down at his stomach then with a slight jostle moved the rock into a cradle on his finger tips.

"Okay if these are the other people you needed? Then whats the plan Madison?" Rol said this as he leaned back slightly and cocked his arm back like the hammer of a pistol. With a quick release the threw the rock over the crest of the hill.

The pebble soared out of the glow of the lantern light sailing down and down towards the street below.

it collided with the frame of a car with a violent thud striking the plastic fender. The sound was barely audible to those on the hill but to the person in the car it sounded like a snap of thunder.

Madison's lips curved into a small smile as Rol's stomach announced it's discontent, and vibrant, graphic novel monster FMXs burst from his belly, through her mind's eye.

She flinched, shaking her head before she could laugh, turning to give Ed and Nicole small waves as she noticed them. She swallowed, the combination of anxiousness and excitement threatening to pulse through her esophagus and spill out onto the grass in front of her for all to see. They were here... they were all here...this could really work, her plan could really work. She had been stood up enough to know that if someone didn't want to come, they weren't going to come, and if they came... did that mean they wanted to see her too? Were they watching her like she watched them? Maybe they had felt the same burning sense of nostalgia in the back of their minds when they saw her, too, maybe they...maybe they...

She cleared her throat, fiddling with her charm bracelet as she looked to all the others, "Hello Ed... Nicole, you're probably wondering why I called you here, well, I have something very important to ask of the three of you, you're the only ones I can trust, really. Do you remember this?" she asked, untangling one of the bracelets from the many others she wore on her wrist until she could finally free it from the others. She clasped it in her palm for a brief second before opening her hand and holding it out to the three in front of her.

It was a small plastic charm, it seemed, shaped like a slice of pie, glossy and pink,
"Years ago, during the Summer Fair, I played that game where you toss the ring? And you have to get all three onto the peg? It was rigged, I'm pretty sure it was rigged, but I played it until I finally got it! And man, he seemed so disgruntled when I got to pick a prize off that top shelf," she said, grinning at the ground, her voice losing it's initial waver as her hands made their way to her hips and she looked up so she could maintain eye contact with the others.

"And I picked out a weird circular trinket, but it broke into four parts... and we sat under this tree, and we used strings to fashion these little necklaces. S'kinda cool, actually," she murmured, hastily shoving the bracelet back onto her wrist, "When we took the necklace, we made a promise... we would be best friends forever, no matter what happened, or where we went... and if one of us was in need, we'd help them..."

She blinked at the ground, her hand finding a resting place on Ferdinand's head, now that he was done thoroughly sniffing the other three new arrivals he was now firmly against her side, licking against her fingers, "And then, you know, summer ended, and then I guess everyone got a little busy, but, a promise is a promise, right? I was really nervous, at first, and I didn't want to do this. I was scared you all would get mad at me, or hit me, or lock me in a bathroom, but then it hit me! I was sitting on my bed, putting Ferdie in his new, and very handsome, bow tie, and this thing right here, this little promise bracelet, it hit me, flew off my top shelf above my head and fell flat on my nose... but it didn't hurt, because it was a sign!" she said, shooting the group a wide grin as she threw her hands into the air for emphasis, sending Ferdinand into a bouncing flurry, as he waited for treats to fall from her grip.

"It didn't matter if you were busy, and you guys never forgot me! We're still best friends, because we all made that promise! All we needed was someone to reach out, so I did the reaching! And you guys actually showed up!" she said, her voice rising in tone and pitch due to the sheer excitement that was now being expressed through rapid hand moving and the slight bouncing from foot to foot.

Suddenly, she grew quiet, her hand reached up and flicked her baseball cap backwards, and her feet slid out a shoulder-length's width apart,
"What's the thing I need help with, you say? That's easy. This world has gone to sh-hrm, nnnn, crap. Things fall through the cracks too easily, and people are getting worse and worse, and all the things they talk about on the news proves it. And, you know, it wouldn't be a problem if the world was under new leadership, not a problem for a team like us, we'd definitely be able to handle it!" she said, laughing boisterously and pointing to the group before crossing her arms firmly across her chest and nodding.

"First step? We take over the world,"

"God? I'm not ready to die yet!"

The sound of thunder jerked him awake as well as the delayed car alarm. His forehead connected with the ceiling of the car as he jumped out of his seat, his ears felt like they could easily become deaf with all the noise. Mark quickly stepped out of the car and went around to find the fender of the family sedan to be dented. The culprit, a rock, was found at the crime scene. He had to quickly get to the bottom of this and shave off the intensity of his own parents' punishment for him going out and getting the car dented. He was always a careful driver and his parents knew it but that did not stop them from being blind to it and going off lecturing him. They were good people, just that they were somewhat short-sighted at times.

Judging from the angle at which the rock hit the fender, the projectile must have started from the top of the hill and gained more momentum as it fell downward along its trajectory. It would be near impossible for Mark to explain this to his parents in such a way that they would buy it. At the very least, he took it upon himself to travel up the hill to find the source of the rock. He shut the alarm of the car and started scaling the hill. It wasn't steep but Mark found himself face first on the dirt anyway. Some of the grass was still wet and the dirt was softly packed, no doubt a public gardener just tended to this hill.

He got up and found his favorite green shirt to be stained with mud as well as the lenses of his glasses. Though at this point it didn't bother him so much. This was just another tally on the bad luck spree that miss fortune thrust onto him today. First was that he was severely lacking sleep because Ed had thought it was a good idea to keep him up all night gaming online. Then class came along but then that was a normal every day inconvenience, what made it suck was that he was shot down by a close friend when he decided to come clean with his feelings for her. On top of that he had failed their English quiz mainly because he did not realize there was a back page to the answer sheet and questionnaire. After class, his manager laid him off as they were overstaffed with an influx of full-time workers, hence finishing his career as a coffee shop barista. He'd have to find a new part-time job soon to bolster his meager allowance. Then Ed comes calling him to his place because there was an emergency or something, he couldn't even plop down on the couch before he had to ask for the keys to the sedan from his dad. He drove as fast as he could to Ed's place and found the guy looking so spaced out.

"Hey Marky-bud" he said.

Where the fuck is this emergency?!

Mark was able to bite that back though and just filed into Ed's house. He was at least grateful for the chance to rest his feet before Ed told him he needed a ride to a certain place. Mark obliged him and drove his friend to the hill he was supposed to meet a bunch of old friends at. Even as Ed left the car, the signature scent of a vigilant Hugo Boss consumer lingered. The car smelled like rich man to be honest. Mark found it best to sneak a nap in. Which brings us back to his current problem.

"You know what? I don't even give a shit anymore."

Mark grumbled on his way to the top of the hill and surveyed the area to find Ed and his friends as the only people there. Apparently this was some super secret evil villain meeting to take over the world but it wasn't that important, he wasn't some super hero. Still, No the kid responsible for the rock must have run the moment it thudded with the car. His shoulders slumped in defeat. In fact he was the very image of defeat, slumped shoulders, bowed head, covered in mud.

"HAHAH!" Rol spat out his hands crossing over his stomach and holding his sides as he laughed. He was being over dramatic but it was still hilarious just the same. The laugh continued loud as each gasp of air added more laughter.

"Friends?! With you guys?! HAHAHA!" Rol laughed harder as one of his hands raised up and pointed towards Madison. The hand then moved up to his face and wiped away the tears that formed in his eye.

"wooh. wooooh. hehe" Rol calmed himself with a light wail and final chuckle the laughter still very apparent in his speech.

"No wonder why everyone thinks you are weird. I mean unless that's a joke right? But it can't be you said that with such PASSION! and Power. You gotta be kidding... I always wondered why you were alone but wonder no more. Listen I didn't come here to be your friend or friends with any of you in fact I barely know any of you. From cousin IT over there (points to Ed.) he looks like a mess. And I'm angry at everything and act out at the world because it never gave me anything girl over here (looks at Nicole.)."

Rol stood back up straight and threw his backpack on his back.

"I thought you were in trouble and its my duty as a council member to help out a student, but take over the world you can not be serious." Rol began to clap slowly while shaking his head "Mad Madison. You take the cake. The leader of these losers to take over the world HAH."

Rol stopped the mocking hand clap and placed his right hand on his hip while the left scratched the back of his neck.

"I don't know any of you, and the only reason why I knew to come here is because my brother informed me. I only remember important people so obviously the impact you think you had or the ties you had with me end here... I don't want to be seen at school gallivanting around with kids who hasn't even grown up. You are a senior ACT your age and stop being a freak maybe then you would get some friends. Even these losers have friends! heh..."

Rol's body began to shake slightly uncomfortably.

"Stick to drawing in your stupid art book because this concocted fantasy isn't going to happen." Rol stepped back to his bike and kicked up the kick stand, while placing his hands firmly on the handle bars.

Rol shook his head while he looked over to the kid who had just freshly stomped his way up the hill. The boy was covered in mud from shirt to face. grass stains on his knees slightly illuminated from the glow of the lantern.

"This is just keeps getting better and better. I wonder who else you could add to build the roster of the Kids who got picked last in everything Team."

Rol laughed some more his stomach felt like it was being lifted up in his throat and his lower half was numb. Each step sent a tingle of lightning up from his toe to his calf. Rol could only feel the tight grip of his hands on his bike as his anchor to this planet as he held the bike.

"As if things could go back to what they were. Like a god damn puzzle that you just left out and want to pick up were you left off. People change, things happen."

Rol began to leave the top of the hill lowering his face bike clicking with each rotation of the tires as he moved. Walking though the square that they had all instinctively made forming up to talk as a group.

I cant remember any of you.
ARMED THIEF'S POST

Nicole scoffed, placing her hands on her hips, her face set in one of ludicrous disbelief. "Holy shit. I don't know about you guys, but I'm sure as the nine hells not follow any of this." She took one arm of her hip to push her glasses up the bridge of her nose, having slipped down as she shook her head in bemusement, before returning it back to her hip. "Look, mate, I'm honoring the past by coming all the way here, and skipping off a few hours of work, which equates to about a few handfuls of dosh, and you're playing me up for some kid's game?" The memories flickered in her mind, and in her eyes, shadows cast upon the fields of them playing, but she shoved that away.

She let Roland have his piece. For the most part, she agreed with him. They were past the stage of play-acting, of times long past. No such things existed in the real world. Only the fantasy that existed in the minds of the children. It pained Nicole to see the unchanging face of Madison as Roland whipped his words at her face, but he was damned right. She, like Nicole, remembered the past, but she, unlike the other girl, stayed in it, while the others moved on. Nicole only steeled her nerves, clenched her fists, straightened up and started to break away from the group.

A fire, however, burned at her gut as Roland's goddamn fucking pompous-looking face, the face of an entitled wankstain appeared in her vision. She admitted that she hated the world because the world hated her. That was fine. But he had taken this thing a tad too far by insulting Ed. Madison was being crazy, she needed to be brought to the ground, but Ed only just arrived. This was a ball right out of the court. Nicole's right hook was as vicious as ever, never losing the power behind it from days before, as she brought her fist around to Rol's face.

"Shut the fuck up, Rol. You're no better, you blithering ponce. Not all of us are lucky pieces of spoiled shit like you, having been spoon-fed with a fucking golden saucer." Nicole snarled, her glasses slipping slightly. "Oh, wow, why don't you run back to your all-great student council and brown nose your captain a little more, huh? Maybe get down on your knees and gag on his manhood, asking to be treated like a good boy that you are." She spat on the ground next to her.

"People change, fucking yes, I know that. Gone were the days I used to bloody put up with people and made friends. Gone were the days I used to enjoy the times we had together, but I don't think it's a good time for a goddamn Councillor to put down innocent bystanders, even if it's true." She indicated the poor bastard at the side of the hill, who, in all honesty, looked like shit. "You were a better man back then than you are now. One that we would recognize as an actual person that could boss us around."

She sighed, shook her head again, and ruffled her own blonde mess in frustration. She stamped her foot and gave another exasperated sigh, paced a circle, then looked at Roland once more, before turning to Madison. "By the gods, I'll listen to your damned fiction, if only just to humor you, Mads. Just in case you do something stupid. I don't want to be blamed for that."

Humor's Post

The fist collided with his jaw as Rol was sent in a drunken stagger trying to keep his balance. His hands left go of the bike as the force collided with him causing him to go off balance. The loud thump of the bikes frame plomped into the grass. Rol staggered a few steps hunched over slightly. Taking his left hands thumb he wiped the blood from his lip then gave a little spit the red stained saliva like a bullet crashed to the ground. The left side of his head began to ring in pain.

"OW-OW-OW-OW-OW! THAT HURT!" Rol screamed out as he stomped his foot in defiance. Rol's head slowly cranked up to glare at Nicole his beany slightly skewed from the hit.

"That's your one." He grinded out through his teeth in anger. His body began to straighten out as the sweet salty flavor of blood filled the lower gutter in his mouth. His hands moved to the corners of each side of the beanie and straightened it out.

"Spoiled HA! You don't even know the half of it!" Rol huffed. "Now listen here you piss poor excuse for a human being. I was anointed not appointed, they wanted me. Understand?! I know it might be complex, as no one has ever found worth for you in your life to be WANTED... It's because i'm actually useful and i'll get somewhere in my life, while you'll just be-... You know what! Screw this im out."

Rol walked over to his bike and lifted it up.

"This was a waste of time."

Rol began to wheel his bike again.

while he mockingly muttered to himself aloud

"Go meet 'em lil bro~ it'll be fun!~..." sod off Nathan.

He could remember all that, yeah, but hey, it wasn't hard to forget. But childhood promises really never had much strength later in people's lives, not like many promises held any strength. Ed kept quiet while she went on about her dog and something landing on her face, but chuckled some when she finally confessed her reasoning for bringing them here. He wasn't that earnest to keep a straight face, even as he really wasn't too interested in being here, but once Rol opened his mouth, Ed kept a heavy demeanor. Of course, Rol had to take everything to the extreme, immediately he began berating her, then included everyone there. Was there any need to explain Ed's meh thought at the guy. As far as Ed could remember, he wasn't always this bad of a guy.

Ed looked over himself, was he really that much of a mess? He took showers everyday, he wore clean clothes everyday, he put deodorant and cologne on not just for formal occasions but for any normal outing. He didn't really brush or style his hair, and he definitely didn't dress to impress. He didn't realize that was a sign for "a mess". Was it cause he declined the any offers to join any councils or clubs? When did it become required for people to join organizations? If Ed could recall, the only person who was apart of anything out of the four was Rol, everyone else sort of just did their own thing. Was that supposed to be the way to become known and popular around school? Join committees? What did it matter anyhow, they were seniors. Why was he so concerned about his involvement in anything? Really the only thing Ed concerned himself with was scholarships and college applications.

By the time, Ed realized what was going on, Rol was on the floor while Nicole yelled at him. Admittedly, she was kind of scary. But she shut Rol up and sent him running.

Ed patted Madison's shoulder finally finding something to say, "You're gonna need some kind of base, like a lair or something, and probably more henchmen than just us three, uh, two. I bet Marky would be happy to join in. But really, work on that base thing, cause I can't be standing around outside this late at night, mosquitoes are a bother. If you want to get a hold of me, I do have a phone. If your mom remembers my mom's old number, then just get it from her, cause it's my number now. Text me if you really want to hang out, no need for this secretive and illusive meeting."

He then changed his attention to Nicole, "Thanks for taking charge, it's always nice to remind ourselves that he's all talk. Let him go back to the student council or whatever, not like they care. We're seniors, like he said himself, no one is gonna care if he got his ass knocked out by you. He can run and cry all he wants, we'll just have our own fun, huh."

Once more, Ed checked the time before looking back, to search for Mark's car, but only to find the guy climbing up the hill himself. "Good, timing, we were actually about to get a move on out of here." He made a gesture towards the others. "I'm sure he'll come around, I doubt he has anything else better to do, council doesn't care what happens to him, just another thing to put on an application."

"It's not an art book...."

Madison slowly began to remove the satchel from her shoulder, shuffling through it as she watched Rol's footsteps take him farther away, "An art book is full of published works...you know, like a mini series... all a sketchbook is is a place for doodles..." she said softly.

She removed a small first aid kit from her bag, it's glosy white case covered in drawings done in permanent marker, and opened it, sifting through it's contents until she found a makeshift cloth gauze strip material.

She was about to walk after Rol, attempting to keep the familiar wetness behind her eyes from spilling, but Nicole's comment stopped her completely. A smile slipped onto her face, only further enhanced when Ed clapped a hand onto her shoulder, his words resonating within her mind. A lair! A headquarters! Of course! That was, like, the basis of every action movie. G.I. Joe had the pit, the Teen Titans had their tower, and their base was going to need a pretty big closet for all her costumes.

"Of course you can have my phone number!" she said, excitedly squeezing him in something that resembled a hug before spinning being her to grab her lantern and begin moving forward in a skip-hop fashion.

"I didn't think about the mosquitoes OR the lair! I forgot how smart you were, you'd be the one to remember that sort of stuff! And Marky can join too! Wow, a six person group, I can't believe it, can you, Ferd?" she said, leaning down to kiss the top of her dog's head before continuing to bound forward, taking a moment to push the gauze towards Rol, thrusting it directly into his chest, "Here, use this to stop the bleeding, if it keeps bleeding after five or ten minutes go see a doctor, and don't forget to gargle with salt water to keep away infection! Oh, and I'm sorry about you being all talk!"

Her pace increased as she began in the direction of Mark, squinting in her attempt to make out his face in the bleak night.

"You said we're going somewhere? Where are we going? I guess we could find a makeshift lair in the meantime, my basement could work, but I'd rather it be a burger joint or something, because that's unique, right?" she said, fishing around for Ferdinand's leash, "And Ferdy likes burgers, too~"

Mark felt like he wasn't supposed to be here. He wasn't supposed to even be playing spectator to this spectacular spectacle sort of drama that was playing right before his eyes. He did not know these people, Ed did and Mark knew well enough not to get entangle in someone else's past save. It was always messy and an outsider would just make things worse.

And yet he stayed to witness one of Ed's old friends start going off on another one about how stupid this all was. He had no idea what was going on and before he knew it, another one Ed's friends, a scary looking blonde, smacked the loud mouth like he was her bitch. The guy was just about to leave too.

It must have felt awkward for them. It surely felt awkward for him. He wasn't supposed to be here, he was just supposed to be Ed's driver.

A supporting character as usual who stumbled in on a scene that was supposed to be exclusive to the main actors only. Not that he never had those moments before, he was part of the theater club. It was never in his nature to assume the main role, he'd always ask for supporting ones and then just stand out way more than the lead characters most of the time.

In any case, they were having their little drama and he was just a spectator to this less than normal cast of characters. The ones that have Lead Role written on top of them.

Ed soon took notice of him and then said that they were leaving. Mark was just about finished wiping the mud off himself so it doesn't stain the car interior.

"I suppose I'm dropping you back at your home, Ed? Alright then."

Then the short, eternally optimistic brunette seemed to be heading his way possibly because Ed decided for him that he might just be part of all this. The short girl, who seemed to be taking the brunt of quite the vocal prosecution a few seconds ago, was headed toward him after handing a bandage to the guy who just smacked like a little bitch. He tensed up as the wall between actor and spectator was broken, not that this was a play or anything of the sort.

He didn't know if she was speaking to him or to Ed or to the dog. Though it was most likely directed to Ed, but he probably has to drive him around town a little bit more. Which meant that he'd have to chime in with his parents about the extension, they weren't people who said no as long as they had some vague idea where he was going and it wasn't out of town.

Madison's pace increased as all the possibilities of what was to come filled her mind, her friend... most of them, had finally grouped together, and she knew that there was a good chance that she'd be able to accomplish her goal. Ed had the smarts, Nicole had the muscle, and she had the... the leadership skills, and they were going to take over the world, whether they were ready for it, or not.

Chapter 2: Chapter 2

The usual atmosphere of neckbeard sweat and parental disapproval filled the air of the Magic: The Gathering section of the comic store, which Reyson stood in the center of, trying not to breathe through his nose, rearranging the booster packs on the shelves for the umpteenth time that day. The tiny little foil packets and the lopsided positions they were placed back in by the aforementioned curious neckbeards were the only thing standing between an irritated Reyson and his sweet sweet paycheck which he'd get as soon as the clock hit six o' clock.

He glanced over at Roland, his co-worker with an ego large enough to cause genuine concern about his ability to fit through doors. The clown had been saddled with the infinitely more tolerable job of shutting the blinds and wiping down the windows, and never did he seem to be sent into neckbeard counrty, the smiling ponce.

As he finished up stacking the rest of the cards and resumed nasal breathing, he walked back into the employees only area and threw himself uonto the lounge sofa before Roland could reach it, spreading his legs as far as possible onto the other seats in retribution for the unfairness of their roles. Roland shot him a dirty glance, while Reyson just turned away from him, making smug preening noises as he sank further into the squishy couch, taking his own sweet time to pack up his things. As Roland scowled and aggressively headed towards the bathrooms, he gave himself the pleasure of a small chuckle as he sat back up properly before he could be caught by the boss.

As the clock hit six the pair collected their paychecks and began to lock up the shop, much to Reyson's relief, he wondered vaguely how the rest of his Saturday night would go after this. Tt probably wouldn't deviate much from his loser routine, dinner, computer and bed, the usual. As the pair left the building, however, it seemed like that Saturday night would be taking a turn from anything remotely "routine."

The crisp tear of a paper towel being pulled from its roll filled Rol's ears with a happy noise. Window duty was his again as Reyson would have to meander the stores layout and fix up the shop stacking the comics in place fixing figures or other boxed merchandise. Roland only had to worry about the front which was cleaning the windows the counters and clearing the registers. Ah what its like to deal with the people that walk through these doors. Cave dwelling beasts that have never heard of deodorant or people wearing hats so others cant see them, or the all to proud nerds who boast their knowledge. Take your pick from the 3 and they all suck.

Today particularly a regular forced his gut through the front door a fanny pack belt holding his cargo pants from revealing an avalanche of cottage cheese rolled legs. Tubby or Todd would wheeze and half cough with every breath as he explained the intricate similarities of magical girl animes compared to my little pony. A torturous hour of being sprayed by foreign spit from Tubby Todd, while being bombarded with his musk that smelled like a used band aid and Taco Bell. The thought of closing and getting the easier job was the universes way of telling Rol he did a good job and earned it.

The blue liquid cleaner splayed onto the glass window as Rol wiped it clean high pitched rub sounding off. Each swipe brought satisfaction of a clean surface and one step closer to leaving. Oh no... A man walked towards the front door the sign clearly flipped saying closed along with the neon light devoid of life. The man child banged on the glass door the bell slightly tousling with a low hum.

"Hey are you guys closed?" The manbaby tried the door.

Rol with rigid robotic movements turned towards the man the wet paper towel and squirt bottle in hand. With one quick nod he answered the man with a yes.

Why ask an obvious question as the doors locked and in bright red letters it says closed on the sign right in front of your eyes? Prolly because you are an invalid and if natural selection was around you would have been filtered out by the world right now. Man I miss Velociraptors.

"Hey Hey! Come on let me in I know what I want I'll be really fast." manchild moaned.

"Sorry we are closed I can't let you in. The registers are being counted."

Even if i was allowed to I wouldn't. I want to get home and enjoy my life and stop serving people for the night. How many times has someone proclaimed they knew what they wanted and then spent 30 minutes browsing just because they could. Rol fell for this ploy once and paid the bitter revenge of kindness as he spent an 45 minutes waiting for them to leave as they flipped through comics and mangas. BASTARD!

"I have cash I can pay come on!" The manboy cried.

Unless you have exact change and can do math in your head for the tax which i know you cant because all people that come in here are idiots. Then no you don't have the cash for this. And since you gave me an inkling into your thought pattern of not knowing a locked door and a sign saying we are closed. You are a twat.

"Sorry I have to get back to closing. We open on Monday at 10:30 See you then!" Rol smiled as he turned back to the window and began scrubbing.

"THANKS FOR WASTING MY TIME!" manfetus raged

"You're welcome." Rol whispered smiling happily watching the man trudge off.

Rol continued to whisper happily finishing his front duties. With a quick hop over the counter like in buddy cop movies over the front of the car Rol made his way to the employee back office. Brushing past a stand up cut out of a super hero it began to topple over Rol caught it and tried to set it straight for about 30 seconds he would set it let go and it would continue to happen. The frustration began to rise as he finally got it to stand back up straight. Huffing Rol opened the door of the office and found Reyson plopped on the couch spreading himself all over it like a conceited douchebag. Rol rolled his eyes annoyed and headed to go take a leak. Today was pay day.

Reyson and Rol's relationship was a strange one at work they got along joked and made fund of people. Complaining about troubled customers was a loving past time. At work they were close buddies but outside they have never hung out as their lives only came intertwined at the door of Comic's N Stuff. Outside of texting one another to cover shifts or to complain to one another about the manager there was a relationship devoid of outside contact.

Rol took the sliver of paper that gave his torment purpose and tucked it in his back pocket. Reyson and Rol stood outside for a moment the night air thick with a wandering heat. The two of them walked silently side by side as Rol looked up towards the sky to find any star visible in the glow of city lights.

Something pink in his peripherals flashed by and Rol stopped in his tracks suddenly.

"What the hell?"

There Madison stood in a pink cowboy hat, boots to match and revolvers tucked into a bandoleer. Her and the other losers he ran into stood behind her saying something to her as her big mouth opened and closed.

The 4 Madison, Mark, Ed, Nicole stood at the edge of the sidewalk near a kids park that was overlooked by the comic store. A group of punks inhabited the park, Rol and Reyson stayed out of their way and the delinquents stayed away from them. Inhabitants of the same area code of honor or some shit.

Rol lightly tapped Reyson's shoulder

"Hey dude check it out. Someones screwing with Craig and the boys."

Then nodding towards the group below them at the park

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Craig and his park goonies 3 others in total laid against the jungle gym smoking cigarettes and talking about the bitches they slept with or will sleep with or hot girls and ratings. It was a slow Saturday night as they puffed away on the sticks in their mouth smoke pouring out of their nose and speaking orifice. A flash of silver and pink made its way into Craigs view.

"What the fuck is that?"

"Ehh?" The other boys looked up to see a group of losers standing in front of them. A small troll like one dressed like a cowgirl. A bushy haired guy who seemed pretty thick, a loser with glasses who looks like a usual person they beat up. and some 7.3 girl who was unusually tall.

"Dibs on the tall one."

"Aw man i call a turn then after."

"Hey hey Fred look man its Mark."

"Oh fuck it is! Whats that little shit stain doing out here?"

"HEY MARKY BOY! Come to say hello? Aw shucks you're gonna make me blush!"

The 4 boys took to their feet hands in pockets as one spit into the ground the rest throwing their cigarettes in the playgrounds sand.

It was a long day and it only got longer when Fred and his gang just had to wildly show up like an unwanted pregnancy. In fact, Mark wouldn't have any trouble believing all four of them were unwanted and unloved accidents.

It was as if the day just wouldn't stop after he got into contact with Ed's old friends. The short one especially, she couldn't exactly keep still for a few seconds and dragged them around everywhere. She believed she was some justice dispensing machine of the Old West or something. She was called Madison or something other. It was clear enough from the first time he saw that she was a handful and probably because of it that the universe seemed to indirectly scream "PROTAGONIST ALERT" whenever she was around. The other one seemed a little bit bearable but seemed like she could never turn off her bitch face switch. He couldn't exactly choose which of the two was more bearable. At least he had the advantage of being acclimatized to Ed, so there wasn't any problem there. In any case, The Madison girl brought them every which way and utilized Mark's car when she felt like it. Mark couldn't exactly say no when a close friend again, tricked him into coming along.

Thankfully the dent on the car was invisible so he didn't have to explain anything to his parents when he was finally let go that night. It would have been a nightmare if the dent made itself very apparent. He wouldn't be here in the first place, not that he would complain about not leaving the house. He did lead a very uninteresting weekend life after all. If he wasn't working on some manuscript idea he had or practicing his nonexistent drawing technique. Still it seemed that maybe it was better that he was grounded for the weekend, he cringed when he heard Fred's voice call out to him. It was a long day that did not go according to his plan, not that it should since he was just a supporting character in all this or so he saw himself, but still God must really hate him to come across Fred and the gang in the park.

"Motherfuckingshit"

Mark cursed under his breath before acknowledging the presence of Fred and his gang of delinquents.

"What?! I can't hear you! You're blushing? Oooh you lost your dick!"

Mark really had no patience for this routine at all. The day already dragged out longer than he thought it would. He knew how this would end and would rather they cut to the chase and get this shit over with. It wasn't like it'd be any different than what they'd do to him at school after all.

The fear Madison felt while approaching the group of delinquents pulsed through her body like ice water, but she couldn't afford to be scared right now, if she wanted the world for herself, she was going to need all the courage she could muster.

Mad Mads didn't put up with any varmints, and if these guys didn't listen to her requests, they were headed straight to the calaboose, along with the rest of them Johns and Backdoor Trots. She surveyed the boys in front of her, they weren't likely to be too much of an issue, as long as they stopped pickin' on her buds. Of course, if it did boil down to a knock galley west, she reckoned a few hits from her and Nicole would set them right.

She took a few steps ahead of the group, clearing her throat loudly and tipping her hat to the chaps, "Now, now, Saddle Buddy, there's no need to go airin' your lungs, but I hope you fellas know you need to let up on them close-fisted remarks, or it ain't gonna end well for none of ya! The Sherrif knows..." she said, nodding to Mark and quirking her lips into a grin. Ferdinand bounded around the corner, tongue lolling out his mouth as he displayed his sheriff's badge proudly on collar. He took a moment to walk a few laps around Nicole before taking his normal position and Madison's side.

She gave them a hard look, a real hard one, and then set her jaw,
"Now listen here, I got a proposition for the likes of you all. I want your territory, and you're gonna give it to me, now if you act a fool, and treat me like the bad hoss you boys are makin' yourselves out to be, I'll have a little somethin' for you," she said, pulling her two revolvers from her bandoleer and taking a shot into the sand of the playground with both of them, the water creating two dark patches that should get her message across. She blew on both of them, tucking the weapons back into her bandoleer and putting her hands on her hips, waiting for their eyes to flash with fear, like a mouse finally realizing the cat has it trapped. It sent tingles from the tip of her head, down to her toes, she had them.

"S'up to you, b'hoys. This can be an easy process, or Mad Mads can get angry,"

She wasn't serious was she. Is this the type of stuff that she had been getting into since they all separated. Was it really a wonder why she was so lonely if when went around doing such crazed things. These guys seemed pretty serious, and so did Maddie. Mark seemed to be recognized by them too, not at all in a friendly manner. Ed couldn't quite place them, but he didn't think that mattered much, the assumptions could be made and it didn't take much to back them up. Maddie seemed quite content on treating this like a Mexican standoff and that seemed pretty nuts to Ed.

As they began to confront the opposing group, Ed found himself meandering to the back of the group and taking his phone to his face. Once again checking the time, but this time beginning to push some numbers. One number once and another twice. He held it on that dile while watching everyone ahead of him. He especially didn't think Maddie to be taking this any seriously, but maybe she had a weird relationship with the other group, like they would humor her or something.

Unlikely. Ed held his finger over the call button.
