Stay With Me...

The Foreign Prince comes from a less rich kingdom called Craryn Dynasty, ruling over mostly farmers, lumberjacks, etc. Of course it does have its military army to protect them from intruders, possible danger, and they are putting their whole hearts into it. The kingdom is known to be peaceful and is also left alone for most of the time, holding contact with those who wanted to befriend them as much as possible.

The Wealthy Prince comes from Ephalista Empire, ruling over mostly important people such as doctors, consulars, lawyers, etc. Their military army is strong and has a wellknown reputation of coming out as the victor in a heated "discussion". However they have the ambition to make their kingdom bigger and that can lead to a bit too much greed.

The Foreign Prince and the Wealthy Prince had gotten to know each other because the two kings were friends with each other, mainly for political reasons. They got along rather well, gave advice to each other and the wives often went for a walk in the fields of Craryn Dynasty. Time went by and the boys had established a strong relationship between them. Stronger than a normal friendship. The king from Ephalista Empire however wanted for his son to marry the princess of another wealthy kingdom, however he got the disapproval from the king of Craryn Dynasty. This was the moment that the relationship between the kings started to become bad as they found more and more subjects they did not get along with. Eventually, they stopped seeing each other regularly.

However the Foreign Prince had fallen ill and only Ephalista Empire had the material and personnel to make him better. Therefore the kings let the conflict aside them as the health of the Foreign Prince was more important than that.

It’s frustrating. Being the crown prince of a large Empire such as his own. It was even more frustrating when your father, the king, invited both your ex and your future wife to court, and expected you to play host to the both of them. Alexander was not an unkind person, au contraire he was quite the charming, devilish bastard when it suited him, but the begging, pleading, and eventually arguing that he did to try and get out of these particular duties in the weeks before their arrival was set, was not princely. His father was more than happy to tell him that.

The princess arrived first, a fortnight before Shaheed was due, and the days following went much like expected. Alex dined with her, walked in the gardens with her, sat and listened like a dutiful suitor as she shown herself off like a prized animal, with her skill at the harp and her poor attempts at sewing. Naturally they never had a moment alone, constantly chaperoned by her ladies in waiting, so getting to know each other on a personal level was unlikely. That would be saved until after marriage, because who needed to know the person they were due to spend their life with?

It was Shaheed’s arrival that made the prince most nervous. He wasn’t prepared to see how prevalent the sickness was on his friend (if he could call him that, now). If he had not already felt like he had betrayed him, all those years spent apart, it was impossible to excuse himself of that now. His mouth was set in a grim line as he stood at the doors of the palace, beside his younger brother and the court physician, watching as the foreign prince arrived outside the gates.
