stardom ☆
a melodramatic popstar roleplay.
introduction.
Stardom is one of the most popular record labels in the world, with the corporations main office situated in Los Angeles, California. The record label has produced and managed some of the world's top artists including but not limited to: Zendaya Coleman, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, the Weeknd, Pretty Much, and more. The label competes with the likes of Sony Media, Atlantic Records, and Republic Records as one of the strongest, and most accomplished labels both power-wise, and talent-wise.
It was founded by Castille Evans and Damon Starr who is commonly known by his stage name, Stardom, in 1963. The two R&B soul singers were at the top of the world when they formed the record label. Fresh off of Grammy's and Billboard nominations. Combining their talent, and assets, the two best friends put together efforts and started their label. What started out as friends, and smaller artists eventually grew into Stardom Record Label™, and made the two men some of the wealthiest in America. Due to the death of Castille Evans in the early 2000's, majority shares of the company have gone to his associate, Damon Starr.

With the growth of the younger generation and new artists, Stardom scouts have gone worldwide to assemble a new selection of artists and talent for the future of Stardom and the music history as a whole.
The artists selected range from C-listers to B-listers from ages 22-28. Message of their consideration is emailed to them/their managers by a Stardom secretary voicing the record label's interest in said artists. Those who accept Stardom's lucrative offer to manage, and publicize them are then flown in to Calabasas, California where they'll reside at the 'Stardom hotel', one put together through collaboration of the label and Marigold hotels.
The story will follow the 8-12 new members of Stardom's music industry and their journey towards world-wide fame. It will delve into the relationships of Stardom's hottest new artists, their music, endorsements, drugs, sex, violence, and the notoriety behind the scenes of the music industry.
Think you're ready?
rules.
RULE ONE. Literacy is key. You must be able to put quality sentences together. While quality is key, I expect 2+ paragraphs per post minimum.
RULE TWO. Re-iterating above, no one-liners.
RULE THREE. Do not express interest if you're unable to post a couple times a week. Around 3-4 times a week would be appreciated.
RULE FOUR. Be polite to everybody. If you're unable to be kind with those you're rping you'll be kicked out in hopes that you deal with your personal issues elsewhere. Beef in-character does not need to bleed out into ooc.
RULE FIVE. This is not first come, first serve. I hope to see what everybody has to offer, what sort of characters compliment one another, and which ones can move a story forward. No hard feelings if you aren't accepted, this can always be opened up in future.
RULE SIX. Romance isn't a must but it is encouraged as it makes things fun, and adds to the drama. Don't break RPN's rules though, fade to black if needed.
RULE SEVEN. If you have an issue with someone, you can always address me or the person. Don't address me, then go behind my back to talk off the person. It's happened before, and its made me lose my respect for rpers in the past.
RULE EIGHT. There will be a Discord for this rp where our ooc, and some more information will be.
RULE NINE. This rp will focus on more than one person. Don't make it all about yourself.
RULE TEN. In due time there will be a Lore section to explain the characters' residence, along with an NPC section.
RULE ELEVEN. This is a realistic rp, and so realistic fc's will only be accepted. Some sort of image has to be present on the cs sheet.
RULE TWELVE. For music claims, refrain from selecting music "goats" like Beyonce, Kanye West, etc. The likes of Justin Bieber, Travis Scott, and more are all on the table. While one can make a music claim, you have to display every single your character has (so while it's a music claim that serves as an umbrella, your fc won't have published all your artists' songs when the rp starts for obvious reasons. you'll have to list every individual song you're claiming to start the rp, and claim more as your character releases more music). Hope that wasn't a headache to read.
RULE THIRTEEN. Questions are encouraged!
key words.
—ARTISTS. The roleplay's focus is on Stardom's new wave of artists. Singers, and rappers fit this description, and can bring a variety of genres to the table. The artists range from C-List to B-List, and while none of them are superstars yet there is a reason they've been on Stardom's radar. They either have some sort of popularity, talent, useful accolades, or can in some way aid the other artists on the roster.
—MANAGERS. Most of the artists have managers that follow them and aid in publicizing them and dealing with paperwork. Those who don't will be managed 100% by Stardom. Managers, along with other forms of supporting casts are not the fore-focus of the rp, but could pass for NPC's.
—GETTING SIGNED. Once an artist has signed, the record label will support them by financing and undertaking the production, distribution and marketing of their music, in return for ownership and the right to profit from the finished product. Stardom artists receive a well paid 20%-30% of total earnings depending on class, popularity, and money generated.
—STARDOM HOTEL. The main living-space of Stardom's younger/up and coming/newer artists, Stardom Hotel is a state of the art abode located in the heart of Calabasas, California. Each artist and their manager are assigned separate rooms in the hotel, and as long as the artist is signed to the hotel, lodging is free. A-list, and elite celebrities stay at Stardom Hotel from time to time, and book out its catering and various hosting halls.
More information in the Lore.
—STARDOM RECORDS RECORDING STUDIO. Commonly dubbed 'Double S, Double R,' Stardom Records Recording Studio is a private recording studio owned by Stardom and Damon Starr. The recording studio offers countless floors of recording studios to be booked, and is free to all Stardom employees. Due to its advanced systems and technologies, the studios are often used by off-label artists looking for a place to record in California.
