It was a blazing sunny day on Cornaria, the birds flew by as did the clouds, a row of R-Wing fighters gleaming in the light. The new cadets awaited orders outside of the Great Fox. Fox McCloud great spaceship/flagship.
His steel boots clanged on the metal of the ramp leading to the ship as he walked down slowly. Sun glasses dawning his face with arms behind his back.
"Cadets! Good morning. I expected all of you to have a good nights rest. I hope each and one of you are ready and willing to train today. I only take the best, this is why I hired the best. Now show me what you can do.." as he lifted his sun glasses, showing his green swampy eye.
"Heh... I was born ready.." The yellow avian smirked as he spoke to himself, reporting to his Arwing when told to, sitting in comfortably. "I'll have to trick this baby out once I'm accepted. It's to... Stock" He seemed to be cocky, which was already one of his negatives. Despite this, he was an amazing pilot. Usually excelling above the other cadets when it came to learning advanced combat moves. He was especially eager for today, since he had heard that today would be a mock battle.
Fox Mccloud entered his R-wing, ready and willing. Looking over to his right he saw the yellow avain who seemed to have a smug look about his face. Fox liked that. It was much to his own personality that he was cocky, maybe a little too full of pride. "Hey, what's your name? Excited you get to tear though the sky with the Star fox team?" the fox nodded with a smile.
"Chip Canary is my name, and of course. I left the academy 'cause they kept holding me back. I was too good for them." He smirked at Fox. "So what is today? I'm getting bored of all this easy training"
"Chip? I like "that name, nice ring to it." he lifted his furry head to laugh, letting his ears hang back. "You too? So, guess me and Falco aren't the only ones who dropped out. I'm not saying it's a good thing, but they couldn't teach us what we really needed to know. Hey, i'm glad your on board. Nice jacket. What's that racing badge doing on your arm?" fox asked.
"As for training. Are you really ready? I'm going to separate the pups from the dogs today, i'm looking for another wing man. That's right, you heard me" he glared.
"Heh, well I got the badge before I started in the academy. I was racing planes before I joined. And you better be on the lookout for me, cause I'm gonna beat all the others"
"Well just have to see about that, wont we Chip?" Fox smirked and kept his cool, giving him a nod. "Now everyone! Today is a special day! We will no longer be flying around, doing barrel rolls and flying through training rings. Today is the day you've all been waiting for, to test those guns! All of you have designated targets downloaded to your data visors. I expect kills, no mistakes. You leave the enemy no time to think. No worries, these are all Mig bots, they have AI comprehensible to a real fighter, so it will be a challenge. If any one of your R-Wings takes too much damage, eject or fly near me. I will escort you back, is there any questions before we begin?" fox demanded.
"Hmph, this will be a piece of cake" Chip said to himself as he jumped into his Arwing, starting it up. He got up into the air, and would wait for the training to begin, being eager to finally be able to shoot the guns.
A loud siren went off, indicating the training had begone. Fox observed the other cadets, watching as they blasted away and doing aerial tricks. Fox himself ignored any of the migs, he saw no reason to intervene as his skill was beyond anything the galaxy had ever seen. Next to Falco of course. Shooting any of them down would be a complete waste of time.
Flying by a few other fighters he watched them intently, making mental notes of any mistakes. Or anything that impressed him.
Foxes face showed up on Chip's intercom, "You have some sweet moves cadet! But, try not to be too cocky. I already have a bird with a hot head" as another voice interrupted him.
"Hey! I heard that Fox!" as Fox McCloud smirked on the video stream and pressed the, "End conversation" button.
He laughed as he continued to take down the bots, that was until one of the cadets was hit, going down in an explosion. "Huh? What the hell? I thought the bots weren't supposed to kill anyone!?"
"What? Impossible! We need a med bot on that fighter now! I'm not going to loss anyone today!" Fox yelled through the intercom. "All cadets! This is not a drill, report back to your hangers immediately! You are not fit for any of this action!" he said again. "Wait..it can't be. They wouldn't attack here...not now?"
"Hmph... Andross..." He said as he saw fighters come in the area. "That is cruel... And I won't take any of that..." Chip didn't follow what Fox said, instead going head first into battle, getting behind the fighter that shot down the cadet and opened fire, taking it down. "Who's next!?"
"What are you doing Chip! Get back to your station at once! This isn't a game!" the fox ordered through Chips video feed. "Never mind, if you want to fight, then fight!" fox shredded through some clouds, taking down four fighters with only a few shots.
"I'm not allowing this to happen. I'm going to put a stop to this" Chip responded to Fox, and continued to fire at enemy fighters, taking them down one by one.
"If your going to do this...your on me." Fox nodded though the intercom screen and whipped one the side Chip's R-wing, giving him a thumbs up and blasting forward, blowing up a mig in front of Chip.
"Bombs, where going to need bombs. But it's just you and me. Chip, we need to hit it at the right spot. Look for weaknesses!" McCloud yelled, flying all around it avoiding laser fire as he looked for any point of interest. "I got nothing on my end, how about you Chip!"
"I got nothing... Oh shit I'm hit!!" Chip yelled as the bar under his face lowered a bit. On his end, he had taken a hit to his wing, nothing major. "I'm fine, it's just the wing... Took care of the enemy"
