Nimbus
Nimbus is a winged humanoid species. Their wings are almost corporeal, and when seen appear misty. The wings take various shapes and sizes, but commonly appear to be like those of a butterfly. The Nimbus species characteristically have pale skin and light blue/grey eyes, and naturally pale hair. Few Nimbus have freckles due to having sensitive skin. These few Nimbus are known to be more earthly than the others, spending large periods of time on the earth learning from other nature creatures that reside there.
Nimbus have some magic, using the air and any moisture in the air to their advantage. Their magic is elemental, and, if taught by other elemental sorcerers/magic users, can use more than their "chosen" element. However, they are only able to master one element. Other elements they can utilize only through spells and enchantments, whereas their mastered element can be controlled with no words. This mastered element is one a Nimbus has a natural affinity for. Despite being a light reliant, airborne being, there have been cases of Nimbus' being born with a natural affinity for earth or shadows. An affinity for shadows is very rare in Nimbus as they spend nearly all of their lives in the light. The magic of a Nimbus can be very powerful, but their "chosen" element comes with certain strengths and weaknesses.
Earth Nimbus' are a strong-headed, caring people. They are very skilled in healing and communication. They're also considered brighter than other Nimbus'. They're generally characterized, later in life, by a green shimmer in their wings. The edges of the wings also tend to have an intricate pattern, and are more visible than those of an Air or Water Nimbus. Earth Nimbus' tend to share certain personality traits. Two of these traits, which are found in all Earth Nimbus', are unconditional kindness and a far higher intellect than can be found in humans. Their intellect rivals that of the elves.
Water Nimbus' are a creative, free-moving people. They are more agile than other Nimbus', and are more skilled in long distance combat. They're also a very persuasive people. Water Nimbus' have a sea blue shine to their wings, as well as being slightly more visible than those of the Air Nimbus. Their wings also tend to have water droplets on them, these being permanent and a part of them, and have a design that imitates the crashing waves or ripples on a pond. Water Nimbus' share certain personality traits with each other, some traits only being found in a smaller number and others in large numbers. There are two traits that all Water Nimbus' share. These are unrelenting bravery and being able to think rationally, even under intense pressure, or in extreme circumstances.
Fire Nimbus' are hot-headed, and often react without thinking. They are very skilled in melee/hand-to-hand combat, and have a stronger will than the other Nimbus'. They're also a loyal people. Fire Nimbus' have various shades of orange and red in their wings, and have the most visible wings of all the Nimbus'. Their wings have no specific design, but consist of multiple shades of orange and red to give the appearance of a raging fire. The Fire Nimbus' share traits, much like the other Nimbus' do. All Fire Nimbus' have the traits of being very emotionally driven, as well as not trusting very easily.
Air Nimbus' are the most light-hearted of the Nimbus'. They're very skilled in magic, more so than the other Nimbus', and are also faster with a higher stamina than the other Nimbus'. They're also a highly fair type of people. Their wings are almost invisible, consisting of a silvery white sheen. Additionally, the pattern to their wings is simple, mostly just reflecting the veins of a butterflies’ wings. Air Nimbus' all share the traits of unbiased, fair judgement, and of being optimistic until given a reason as to not be.
Shadow Nimbus' are the rarest of them all. These Nimbus' tend to become "evil", so to speak. They're skilled in all-round combat, and are stealthier than any of the other Nimbus'. They're also talented at spinning tales. A lie from them would be hard to discern until it's too late. Like the Air Nimbus', Shadow Nimbus' have near invisible wings. Their wings do, however, appear more visible than those of the Air Nimbus. The wings of a Shadow Nimbus are black or dark grey, and tend to resemble smoke. Shadow Nimbus' are all very quick of the mind, being able to improvise a response in an instant, as well as all being very secretive.
