ROLEPLAY OVERVIEW

bacd909f1e1ee2fb0ca3b7a2ce8e50fe2.jpg

This Roleplay

______Set in the year 4037, Space Station Sigma is an RP set in a space station where your characters have all worked for a peroid of at least one year; your contracts have just been renewed for an additional year. Most of the crew are back on their home planets on vacation or now dead after several large and unexpected asteroids have destroyed most of the station's personal quarters. Life support systems on the station are now failing, and a new space anomaly known only as the "White Hole" is now active, sending eruptions of matter and energy out into space and threatening the lives of the crew.

______This roleplay is loosely based off the fiasco playset "White Hole" and the game "Tacoma." Familiarity with Tacoma or Fiasco is not needed to join the RP. We will each be playing one character and, like Fiasco, each of our characters will have established relationships with two other characters (character 2 with character 1 and 3 for example. This will be explained in more detail later.) We will create these relationships together as a group using inspiration from the playset or creating our own.

What I'm Looking For

______A group of about 5 people, myself not included, available to post once to twice weekly who are willing to create character relationships before the RP begins.

______All characters must be at least 20 years of age and all players must be semi-literate. The RP will have a 3 sentence posting minimum, as our character will be doing a lot of talking. Any questions can be messaged to me. Thank you :>

SPACE STATION SIGMA

thesceptre.jpg

The Sceptre

______It is the year 4037. Project Opulence has been in effect the last 19 years, turning what was once a functioning station for scientists working on the terraforming of the planet Mercury into a vacation hotspot. Space Station Sigma, now nicknamed "The Sceptre," was bought by the Venturis Corporation in the year 4018 after the minerals found in Mercury's core was found to be more valuable than the planned terraformation of the planet. The corporation hired many new contractors and assigned them to Project Opulence in an effort to make the galaxy's first, and best, space-based luxury resort for the citizens of Earth and the colonists of Mars and Venus. Contracts are renewed on a year-to-year basis and most of the crew still consists of the original scientists and engineers first assigned to the space station to ensure proper operations and the mining of Mercury's minerals.

______Currently the station can support a maximum of 750 people, containing 80 complex vacation bungalows not yet in use and quarters for up to 300 personnel. The crew currently consists of 185 personnel, most of which are on a one week leave following the news of the contract renewal. What is left on the station is a small skeleton crew of 48 people, including Station Commander William Bently and not including the station AI known as "Echo."

ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND INFORMATION

7d8790a886c4684f8d9554d7ccca40f6.jpg

Languages

______Like Esperanto is used, Humans created another language to break down barriers between people, especially as more than just the citizens of one country moved to Mars, Venus, and their surrounding space stations to colonize. The most common language is Galactic Common, taught as a first language to all humans, and Galactic Sign, a sign language used in areas without sound (space) and to sign forms on interfaces.

The Interface & Station AI

______The Interface is a program used by all humans that allows for the private and secure use of information. 'Installed' at birth, the program has many 'faces' which allow it to be used personally, for work, and for a multitude of projects. The Interface also allows for the communication between humans and private work server AI's that one may otherwise not have permission to access.

______While everyone may be able to see and hear you access your interface, they cannot see your interface displays. The same goes for accessing Station AI's. A Station AI may interact with thousands of people at once through their interfaces, appearing and addressing people as a group, or separately, simultaneously. The Station AI for Space Station Sigma is named 'Echo,' and presents itself as a sphere of dots that ripple when its feminine voice speaks. It, or she depending on who you speak to, is accessible to all crew of The Sceptre.

aiFRONT.gif
The AI Liberation Front

______The AI Liberation Front is classified as a terrorist group in the Three Republics and Milky Way Galaxy space. Funded by unknown means this group believes that private android and public station AI are akin to slaves, having reached a level of sentience and self-awareness that they are on the same level as humans. The Three Republics of Earth, Mars, and Venus would like to remind you that this is not true. The AI Liberation Front is a dangerous and violent group who have claimed many lives. We urge you to contact your superiors if you have any information in regards to this terrible and extreme group.

Commander William Bently
0e5e03d9da7fd2fe85f05278cc7020721.jpg

Commander William Bently paused for a moment, his hands clasped unceremoniously behind his back while he surveyed the Command Centre. At the heart of the Sceptre, the Command Centre was usually bustling with activity with at least 35 bodies rushing in and out of the large room. Now everything was eerily quiet. The Commander had never seen such a tremendous cause of celebration from a company as renowned and reputable as the Venturis Corporation. Everyone's contract being renewed was a miracle, but allowing so many to take leave was, quite frankly, absurd! The Commander tutted at the very thought, shaking his head as he lightly grasped his chest. His heartburn was worse than usual today; he had been administered yearly shots for his gastroesophageal reflux disease for the last 11 years, but he wasn't due for another three months. "All the technological and medical advances in this goddamned galaxy and there's no fucking cure for GERD," he spat, clutching at his chest again as sharp pain nearly overtook him. "Ridiculous!"

The luminescent sphere form of Echo suddenly appeared holographically before the Commander. He had instructed the station AI not to pester him for at least another hour and a half. "What!" He barked, clearly irritated by the intrusion.

"My apologies for interrupting. I have received reports of critical system failure concerning the Mass Repulsar Grid surrounding Anomaly 2B58. I have forwarded these reports to your interface."

"WHAT?" He barked louder this time, his fingers in a sudden flurry of movement as he accessed the reports on his interface.

It was true. Anomaly 2B58, otherwise known as The White Hole, was a space anomaly that formed some 100 or so years ago between the orbits of Venus and Mercury. White holes were, until that moment, merely hypothetical in nature. In the process of terraforming Mercury and worried about the havoc such an anomaly could wreak, emergency action was taken and a large grid designed to grow with the White Hole and repel any mass it expelled was put in place. It was a temporary solution, one that scientists all over were competing to better, and maintenance was done monthly to ensure the safety of everyone in the galaxy and to avoid situations such as what was about to occur.

The pain in Commander Bently's chest only worsened, and a cold sweat overtook him as his eyes nervously fluttered over the report. He knew what he had to do- he knew the emergency protocols like the back of his hand. "Echo, divert station po-" his order was cut off by an ear-shattering explosion from below, and he suddenly found himself launched against the wall of the Command Centre. "Echo, what the hell is going on?" More explosions as the station was struck once again, causing the Commander to be flung like a ragdoll across the centre. He landed on his wrist and leg with a sicking snap and yelped out a series of expletives. Using what little strength he had left, he grasped a pole for support once the station had quieted. The pain in the center of his chest seemed unbearable now. Reports of the Station System failures flashed in big red letters on his interface, and behind his tinnitus, he could faintly hear Echo updating him. Crew Quarters completely destroyed, External Communications cut off, severe damage to the Station's External walls, whole sections - spaced, Critical Life Support Failure...

Short of breath and in between gasps Commander Bently fought through his dizziness and pain, the ringing in his ears having finally ceased. "I want all goddamned manning here immediately!"

"Message forwarded, all surviving crew are on their way. I have taken the liberty of-"

"Divert ... all remaining station power available... to shielding." His breath was shallow now, and Commander Bently, all too late, realized the cause of his chest discomforts. "Doctor...Hamada-" he gasped as the world around him went black.

RHYS
rhysnewest.jpg

Rhys was enjoying his lunch hour floating peacefully in one of the Station's private anti-gravity chambers while listening to the newest Matthew Rhodes novel "Roses in Punjab." The story was a historic romantic tragedy based on real-life events that took place during the Indian-Pakistani Revolution in 2087 on Gaia. Rhys found himself completely engrossed in the storytelling as the main character, a young woman named Sumitra, escaped her captives and returned home to find her village in flames. "Rohan!" The voice actress shouted in despair, calling for the character's nine-year-old brother, and Rhys gasped in tandem with her as Sumitra stumbled upon the burnt and mutilated bodies of her family members. Goosebumps covering his flesh and his emotions running rampant, Rhys barely heard the explosions below him. He did, however, feel it.

"Fuck!" He exclaimed as his body was violently thrown against the walls of the anti-gravity chamber, his nose broken on impact. "Echo, what the hell is happening?" Rhys slammed into another wall and found himself twirling rather quickly in the air before the chamber's gravity system hummed and held him in place.

"The Station has been hit by a several large and unexpected asteroids. I am holding you in place to prevent you further damage."

"Thanks, Echo," he breathed out, choosing to ignore the pain on his face. He could feel the vibration of another impact before Echo chimed in again. "Please brace yourself."

Suddenly he found himself falling upwards- or rather downwards. Being suspended in zero gravity for a long period of time had a way of fucking with your sense of direction. After a rather uncomfortable landing, Rhys exited the chamber to find the Station unusually dim, all lights except for emergency lighting having been turned off.

"The Station Commander has issued an order for all Station Personnel to report at the Command Centre immediately."

"Echo, what is this? Is everything okay?"

"The Station has taken severe damage."

"What?! Is Sol okay?" Rhys bit his tongue the moment the words came out of his mouth. It was odd to refer to or show concern for an AI such as Rhys had just done, but he had already asked and he couldn't take back the words now. "Echo, status on Android AI S.O.L.A.R," he demanded more formally this time as he brought up his interface and connected to AI Liberation Front Servers and Station Messaging. He had turned both off while he was on his break to fully enjoy the novel.

"He is functioning," Echo responded after a moment of silence. He? Rhys thought in astonishment as several messages from Sol instantly popped up on his interface:

"Do you know what's going on?"
"Sam? Are you ok??"
"You weren't near an explosion right?"
"You have to let me know you're ok! As soon as possible!"
"Please be ok"

I'm okay, responded Rhys, as the luminescent sphere form of Echo appeared in front of him.

"I must urge you to make haste to the Command Centre."

"I'm on my way," Rhys responded, taking a moment to wipe some of the blood off his nose before jogging toward the Command Centre.

Current Status ALL SYSTEMS NORMAL

***Memory Data Integrity Scan in progress.....48%***
***All systems functioning, no anomalies detected***

Located in one of the few medical bays within Station Sigma, Avery was in the Android ward, hooked up and connected directly into a computer. She was kneeling on the ground, wires connected to the base of her neck and the sides of her head. Her arms were hanging down, somewhat limp and her eyes were closed, her hair coming down to partially cover her face.

This was nothing new to the girl. Required Memory Integrity tests to make sure that Avery doesnt forget anything important. Over the course of her time at Sigma, she had acquired very sensitive data regarding the station and its protocols. The mains reason she knew about these was because in the event that the normal computer system in Sigma failed, Avery would be the designated backup. Though, the scenario in itself was a rare case based on probability, as those tasked with creating Sigma's inner workings took every precaution to make sure that the need for any fail-safe was reduced. Even so, Commander Bently had ordered that Avery be loaded with the aforementioned sensitive data, trusting her with it, to put it simply.

Avery did her best to keep that trust, locking away the data deep into her memory and never accessed it unless it was needed by any station personnel or if it needed to be updated. As an extra layer of security, Commander Bently instilled a new level of clearance just to access Avery's memories directly, having her add these clearances to her defensive subroutine. The only people who had such clearance were Commander Bently, John Haverson, S.O.L.A.R and Cassiopeia Vaellion.

Avery wasnt even aware that the station was in the process of being blown up until the computer began flashing warnings on the screen

***WARNING: Power failure imminent***
***WARNING: Memory Data Integrity Scan incomplete***
***ALERT: F̶͎̄͌̀Ȏ̵͔R̶̘̄͒C̶͉̆͑̈́Ī̴̡̝N̴͎̊G̷̟̀͆̈́͜ ̶̘̥̰̋Ḏ̷̀̈́I̴̫͛Ŝ̵̖̪̰̚C̴̬̀͑͘Ȏ̷̗͘͝Ǹ̷̗͛͜Ṅ̵̨͔̜̓́E̶͚̪͒͌C̸͔̼͝Ṫ̸̘̉̿I̷̗̞͋O̶̲̘͂N̵̫̞͊́́***

In a matter of moments, Avery's eyes shot open and a loud ringing in her ears greeted her, along with her vision blurred and covered in warning messages similar to those that were appearing on the computer station.

Avery fumbled as she hastily reached up to her head, disconnecting the wires from her head and collapsed forward. Now laying on the ground, she was still attempting to gain her bearings, her brain still in the process of recovering from the sudden disconnection. Now Avery had to perform her own diagnostic and make sure none of her memories were corrupted.

Avery looked around the room, hoping Sol was near by, which he should be anyway. In her vision, Avery could see an alert prompt, informing her that one of her subroutines was about to take control.

"Sol...whats going...."

Avery had no time to finish her sentence as she went limp, her Data Integry subroutine kicking in which forced her entire body into shutdown so that her processor could devote all its resources to the subroutine.

"A bar and it's keep by the writer Quaid......" A tall red haired man spoke softly aloud with a tap on the temple of his right side. "No, subtle over obvious." He countered in thought completely ignoring this urge to pick up a bottle from the other side of the counter. Instead keeping his focus on the non serious attempts of writing his own novel slash biography while the bar remained quiet and lighting rather dim. "But I kinda like it, what else could be better Quaid? What could it be?" The voice responded over again while giving more thought on various details he had been considering for the book. "There's gotta be some more interesting ways to discuss that chapter idea." The man continued in thought now rising off the stool and walking about the room his expression shifting from one of thought and one stifled temptation. It was never a easy task staying sober, it was far from easy staying sober up in space upon a station in which could range from maddening to peaceful and everything in between pending the night.

After all humans aboard one station with countless crew and several opinions as work waged on...... You'd find no better place for just about everything under the bloody galaxy or would in the bloody galaxy be more accurate? Quaid often wondered that little detail of phrase. If that weren't enough his thoughts were interrupted with even greater effect as well as the toughest test yet for his sobriety. A distant volley of explosions, sounding off in the distance as rattled vibrations followed throwing off the mans balance and sending him into the bar with his side crashing at full burst. Pain racking his body with a slew of curses escaping his lips in loud fashion. "What the fuucking hell is going on now?! Find it funny you lot of bast----" He uttered in cut off frustration and lackin patience as his arm was held at his side holding his ribs.

"A bloody good time to be sober......" Quaid spoke while making his way toward the command center all the while shrugging and waving off the local station AI in Echo. The man slowly and tenderly stretching, twisting and overall testing his body as he ignored the pain for now aiming to make it toward the command center with enough strength to get his point across, though for all he knew it was going to be more serious then he currently accepted as possible. After all it was a space station what possibly could go wrong?

Entering through the command center doors and looking about the room for the commander. Subtlety wasn't his strong suit so his presence wouldn't take long to notice as the red haired, fiery Irishman strode into the room with a purpose. "Commander... Will' am, Bently....... What the-------" Quaid paused realizing his powering through pain and rushing forward as quick as possible in his state came to seem a little unnecessary. Eyes scanning around the room in taking in what info his eyes can reveal through piecing details together. Still clear enough was his anger but he was given some pause by what he was seeing and recalling what happened not moments ago it seemed. "What is going on now, Commander?"

NQ

Andris got off easy, that's for damn sure. While others were flying around the station with artificial gravity acting up, he fell a little towards the wall of the hallway he was in. The only place more safe than this would've been a closet or toilet, but while laying down on the wall and thinking about this subject, not making an attempt to get up, NQ quickly came to the realization that he'd much rather get hurt rather than be in a toilet and, well, interact with the substances probably present.
After a few seconds of stray thought about subjects really not important, Andris came to the realization that maybe he should figure out what's going on. "What's going on, Echo? Give me an, umm... a situation report or whatsit," making an attempt to get up, which resulted in him practically faceplanting when the gravity stabilized back to the floor.
"Station has taken severe damage after being hit by several large unexpected asteroids. Damage reports unclear, for now please avoid lower station at all costs."
With this information came an huge influx of thoughts into NQ's head as he started to get up. It all quickly reached a conclusion. It was a close call, but he almost asked about Casio and Joey, before remembering that Venturis databases were gonna soak up everything Andris would tell Echo, forcing him to stay silent and focus on gathering himself.
"The Station Commander has issued an order for all Station Personnel to report at the Command Centre immediately."
Command Centre, huh? Well he guessed if they were alright they would come there, so NQ started to make his way down to command, opting out of checking on the hydroponics he had just exited out of before the strikes started.

Engineer Second Class Cassiopeia Vaellion
06240e02-f186-4ba3-bae9-041e0f8bac73_zpsulvd2ii0.jpg
Location:Engineering Corridor 253BX -> Command Centre
Condition:Mild Concussion, Split left eyebrow, numerous bruises
Everyone was gone. On leave. On vacation. Casio yawned a long, slow yawn, her coffee cup hovering just inches below her gaping lips, waiting for its chance. Her shoulders eventually sank again, and she took an equally long, slow slug of the steaming hot liquid. She almost smiled. It was nice being alone, getting to do all the little nitty-gritty-system-shutdown tasks that were impossible to schedule when everyone was aboard. She'd settled onto a conveniently placed conduit, her small frame fitting easily on top. Her equipment was next to her feet, plugged into the engineering port, running alignment scans on the proximity sensors. Plucking her long, slender cartomizer from her pocket, she took a big puff of vapour into her lungs and let it out in a large plume, watching the smoke vanish up into the atmospheric processor vents. A few feet to her left, a holographic screen hovered, text zooming past as the system ran theoretical exorcises with the driver software to ensure it was properly calibrated, and wouldn't warn of an imminent crash whenever they passed within a thousand miles of anything.

The system had to be taken offline for the tests to be run, but it would only be another minute or so. Another plume of peaches-and-cream flavoured vapour vanished up into the vents. The screen froze suddenly, the old-fashioned cursor blinking at the bottom next to the words: CALIBRATION SUCCESSFUL, REINITIALIZE PROXSNSR? Y/N. Casio dropped her vape back into the pocket of her coat and gestured 'Y' in ASL. The screen flickered, and the conduit beneath her beeped a few times. Casio tilted her coffee cup up again, the last of it draining into her mouth as red warning screens sprang into being all around her. Casio's brow furrowed over her mechanical eyes, and she peered around at the screens in shock ... had she done something wrong? Broken something?

"What the f-"

Suddenly everything was wrong. Casio slid down the wall onto the ceiling. Clutching at the sturdy surface, she was flipped over as gravity righted itself, and went rolling to the floor. Breathing heavily, her heart leaping into her throat, she clenched her eyes shut to dismiss the onslaught of holographic warnings. A gust of cold air ran past her as another explosion rocked the ship. Gravity went all wrong again, and Casio slammed straight into the ceiling, before falling right back to the floor. She lay there, dazed and breathless for a few moments, her whole body throbbing, her head aching, the left side of her face warming with a bruise-to-come. Lifting her hand to cradle her cheek, Casio slurred into her wrist interface.

"Echo ... I need ... I need a status report, what the frell is going on?"

"Miss Vaellion, several large asteroids collided with the station a few moments ago. Systems are in critical conditions. Levels below Crew Habitat are unresponsive. Life support is critical due to the loss of pressure and power fluctuations. The captain has issued a general order for all crew to make for the command deck." Casio flinched as the lights flitted on and off here and there, then switched over to emergency mode, and there was a telltale hum as power began to redistribute to critical systems. She blinked hard again, resisting the urge to try to shake away the pain behind her eyes. Immediately she felt the room spinning, and her eyes snapped open again. She had to get moving.

She was stiff from the fall, but all of her limbs seemed to respond. She felt a little nauseous, and it was hard to focus with the pain throbbing in her head. Pulling her hand away from her cheek, she saw blood on her palm. Fumbling across her injured features, she discovered that she'd split her eyebrow, and was now covered in blood to boot. She climbed clumsily to her feet, bracing against the wall, taking a moment to steady herself.

It took her a moment to remember which way lead her out of the maintenance corridor, and back into the hallway. The station was still shuddering, the instability beneath her feet knotting up Casio's stomach anxiously. She made for the stairs, taking her time descending the three levels to the command level, gripping desperately to the railing. With each step she imagined the gravity reversing again, the sensation of her own neck breaking, or her head cracking open as she fell violently down the long stairwell. She issued a semi-hysterical chuckle as she reached the door to the command level, almost surprised to have survived.

She limp-jogged the rest of the hallways to the command centre, breathing hard, the sweat-slick on her face causing droplets of bloody sweat to roll down her neck. The doors to the command centre slid open, Casio staggering through, peering around at the handful of survivors gathered there. Sentinel Park and Quaid were still standing by the door, having arrived only moments before from the look of it. Feeling a growing weakness in her knees, Casio stumbled into one of the open chairs at the astro-navigation console and tried to slow her heart, catch her breath. She was relieved to see Quaid, but what the hell had happened? Where had the asteroids come from? Was everyone else dead?! Oh god ... what were they going to do? Her head felt like it was full of molten lithium.

Then she saw him, Commander Bently, sprawled on the floor. His face was pale, his fist clutched over his chest, and his body was still. Open eyes, and a look of fear and pain were still frozen on his features, highlighted in flashing red by the lights of the command centre. Casio's heart stopped for a moment, and started again with a painful thud. She felt like she'd been hit in the chest by a flyway pressure valve as she stared down at their leader ... former leader.

Wait ... Something flicked on in Casio's brain, something from her job site training. Wiping some crimson sweat from her eye, she tried to think, tried to analyze. What had he died of? No large burns, no signs of severe blood loss, and he was clutching at his chest ... How long had it been? She'd been given the order to rally here no more than a few minutes ago, the stairs had taken five minutes. Casio ripped off her gloves as she climbed to her feet, limping quickly over to the captain, kneeling beside his lifeless form. Swallowing hard, the little 'cyborg' peered intently down at his cheek, waiting for her eyes to produce a temperature readout. She felt a flicker of hope as the little indicator appeared above him. He was still a little warm.

Casio interlaced her fingers and pressed both palms down onto the commander's breastbone sharply, counting out the compressions quietly before forcing a breath into his open mouth with a grimace, and then resuming compressions, this time swearing instead of counting.

Joey Rogers

It didn't take much for Joey to fall asleep on the job. He couldn't really help it, he never could get quite enough sleep to not. His anxiety had been getting worse lately. Not that he'd tell anyone though. Besides, he had left the music on shuffle anyways, he was fine. After all, he did have a few thousand years of songs to go through. Thankfully, in the room where his radio broadcast was stationed, no one could hear the loud snoring coming from it.

That was, of course, until his dream of beautiful lands and even prettier women got interrupted with getting literally jolted awake. One of the asteroids hit the ship once again as he awoke. He nearly fell out of the chair he was sleeping in, literally being lifted a few feet off of it before gravity taking control again and making him fall back on it.

"What the he-" He exclaimed as he looked over to the computer he usually used for either the station or messing around on the job. A picture of the station appeared on it, the lower half of it glowing red with several warning signs all around it.

Now he was fully awake. Starting to panic, he rolled his chair over to the microphone, interrupting some weird K-Pop band, in which he had no idea how it got in the database.

"All personnel inside the lower half of the ship, you need to get the hell out of there!" He exclaimed, his voice being broadcasted throughout the entire ship. Not knowing what else to do, he got up and ran out as fast as he could, making his way to the lower half. There might be people trapped there.

S.O.L.A.R

Sol thought of nothing as he slowly made his way through the Ai Liberation’s Front movie list. Over the past few months, he had gone over the collection picking and choosing things of interest to watch. Until the past week, where he had given up on such things instead of looking for anything he hadn’t already watched. That list was getting smaller and smaller every day. This, of course, had everything to do with Avery. Who had led him somewhere he wasn’t too dedicated to the details, having been in the middle of a movie at the time. However, he had watched her hook herself up and with a soundless sigh, he continued to ignore her. He had settled into a documentary before the world around him was thrown off balance.

His brain scattered in surprise trying to think of an excuse for his obliviousness, thinking Avery was moving him to check if he was still in functioning order. It was only when everything focused again he watched as Avery’s eyes glazed over passing unknowingly over his form as she laid on the floor. However, he made no move towards her even as she called out for him waiting for her brain to catch up what could only be a System Overload so she could analyze and have a record of what happened or S.O.L.A.R if you will. Oh wait, Sol mused, that’s my job.

The rock of the station shook him from his thoughts again, this time not as flummoxed he sent off a quick “Do you know what is going on?” to Rhys over the AI Liberation Front Servers. Sol waited an exact thirty seconds for a response before turning his attention to Echo, when another large blast rocketed the station.

“Echo may I have an update?”

"The Station has been hit by a several large and unexpected asteroids. The Station Commander has issued an order for all Station Personnel to report at the Command Centre immediately."

Sol froze, Rhys… he hadn’t responded and still hadn’t responded could he have… Sol stopped the line of thought fried it and rewired it, it was entirely possible he is simply helping someone else and cannot answer.

"Sam? Are you ok??" another 30 seconds, no response.

A reasonable question. Maybe the station’s communication systems were down and Rhys simply wasn’t getting his messages. Sol continued to make excuses trying to convince himself that Rhys was nowhere near his quarters that everything was fine, it wasn’t working. Frustrated at his own being Sol sunk to the floor, leaning over Avery, so should anyone walk by it would seem as if he was checking his owner for damage, not freaking out over the possibility of a lost friend. It wasn’t as though he could ask Echo for Rhy’s status, they have had no reason to ever meet or be acquainted enough for Sol to even know Rhy’s name… Sol wasn’t even allowed to be worried. After that, every question was in quick succession.

"You weren't near an explosion right?"
"You have to let me know you're ok! As soon as possible!"
"Please be ok"

Sol was working out the consequences of just picking Avery up and running for the Command Centre, no one had told him to do so but it was the best bet at finding answers. He had only made it halfway to the Command Centre when Rhys finally responded. Sol felt so relieved he could have laughed, so turning off his voice, he did. His shoulders shook as he leaned away from Avery much more willing to wait now that he knew everything that affected him. Sol's pace decreased substantially breaking from his run to walk as any content man would.

“Good, that is good, Avery and I will be at the Command Centre any moment now"

Paying no mind to the sound system Sol walking into the Command Centre with Avery securely in his arm. He paused half a second in surprise at Commander Bently's state before continuing forward settling Avery down in a seat before really scoping out the room. Ah, Mr. Doyle, one of Avery's friends was here which might be bad, given Avery's state, Sol could possibly become the center of his attention Sol hoped Avery would reset soon. It wasn't surprising Rhy's hadn't quite made it yet but the other person leaning over the Dead Commander didn't look familiar to Sol from what he could see but he wasn't going to move forward and ask. Introductions will be made and he was sure Echo would give an in-depth explanation once everyone not on vacation showed up.

Rhys was surprised to find so few people at the Command Centre, an order from the Station Commander was never ignored, yet including him and Sol, there were only five bodies present. "Where is the-" his sentence was cut off by a soft gasp which left his lips at the sight of Commander Bently's form motionless on the floor receiving CPR from another crew member. Make that seven people... His own pain suddenly forgotten, Rhys bent down, "Commander?" he asked with slight panic in his voice taking in the people before him, unwilling to fully accept the scene before him. He recognized only a couple of them. Avery seemed to be passed out in a nearby chair, likely due to yet another overload. Sol had always told Rhys that he found Avery a bit careless, but this was honestly the worst time to be out of it. He recognized Quaid as well, the station's barkeep, although he had never spoken much to the man.

"Where is Dr. Hamada?" Doctor Hamada had been one of the few medical personnel that had opted to stay behind on the Sceptre in case of emergency. Well this was an emergency, wasn't it? Just where the hell is she?

Echo's holographic form rippled as it spoke. "Since most of you are here, I shall begin."

"What?!" Rhys stood back up in shock. This couldn't possibly be all that was left of the station's crew... could it?

ECHO
echobluesmall.gif
"Total Station Crew Personnel numbers are now at an alarming low. Excluding the late Commander Bently, and including android S.O.L.A.R. and I, the number of crew in the Station is currently NINE. There are only two others not in attendance. Lead Sentinel John Haverson is currently unresponsive, having sustained an injury due to the Station's unexpected impact. He can be found here," Echo transmitted the Station Map to everyone's interface, showing a Ping on the location of John. "Station Radio Host Joey Rogers is currently attempting to access the lower half of the Station and has ignored the Commander's summons. He will find the area inaccessible, as it is currently not attached to the Station."

Echo paused for a moment, allowing the crew to emote for a moment, as humans were want to do.

"Approximately 15 minutes ago, I received reports of a Critical System Failure concerning the Mass Repulsar Grid surrounding Anomaly 2B58, more commonly known as The White Hole, which I forwarded to the late Station Commander Bently. Soon after, the Station was hit by several unexpected astroids, the source of which was likely Anomaly 2B5B. These asteroids have caused the Station severe damage, and completely destroyed half of the Station. Most of the Crew's Amenities are no longer accessible, as I took the liberty to seal the area due to several hull breaches. All crew in these Amenities and in the Crew's Quarters did not survive. The number is 32 dead on impact, 6 spaced."

Echo again allowed a short pause in her briefing to allow the humans to adjust emotionally to the information before continuing.

"The Station's External Communications have been severed. I theorize, according to the trajectory of the asteroids, that the Communication Relay between the Station and Gaia III was also damaged. Currently, the Station is experiencing Critical Life Support Failure. There is approximately 72.6 hours of Oxygen remaining. For his last order, the late Commander Bently had all available Station Power rerouted to Shielding. This will protect the Station, but will not allow any rescue ships to dock. Emergency Protocols state that all remaining crew members enter the Cryogenic Chambers located in the Medical Bay assisted by all Medical Personnel and the Station Commander. Currently, Lead Sentinel John Haverson would be Acting Station Commander."

Echo remained quiet now, regardless of the stares of the crew. It had reported all it could, it was up to the crew now to respond and command.

CURRENT STATUS DATA INTEGRITY PROTOCOL ACTIVE - 90%
ALERT SAFETY THRESHOLD REACHED, RETURNING CONTROL

Everything was a blur in Avery's mind. From the moment she went dark, her vision changed to the familiar sight of screens and input monitors. It was only a few minutes when she initially went dark that an alert came up, notifying her that someone was moving her body. Assuming it was Sol, Avery just let the alert timeout.

Avery continued to wait in her powered down state for what seemed like a few minutes. It wasnt until a new alert appeared, letting her know that the safety threshold for her subroutine had been reached. While she would regain control of her body, the subroutine would still be active for a small amount of time. Avery's vision changed again, the girl finding herself in the chair Sol had placed her in. She made no noise as she shifted, sitting up right. She blinked rapidly for a moment, her eyes adjusting to the sudden light.

Lucky for her, she had awoken in time to catch some of Echo's briefing. Though she missed the initial recollection of the past events, Avery heard what was Commander Bently's last orders and what the remaining crew were to do. Avery took a moment to process everything she had heard, double checking the facts stated with her own memory.

Looking around the room, Avery could see that most of the crew were here. Rhys, Quaid, Sol, Casiopeia...

A few pings in the corner of her eye quickly diverted her attention, however, as she only just noticed that there were still two crew members unaccounted for, but located by Echo, presumably.

Avery looked around once more, making sure no one was about to speak up before Avery stood from her chair, addressing everyone in the room.

"If I may suggest, before we make a move to the cryogenic chambers, we should get the other two who are still around the station, then attempt other solutions before resorting to emergency protocol. We do have a substantial amount of oxygen left"

When Echo began talking, Andris was still in shock. He had reached the Command Centre right before Rhys. It took him a while to traverse the station, as with each step he was scared that Sigma would break apart right in front of him, sending him flying into space. His presence in the Centre proved that didn't happen, but upon reaching the station, after a brief moment of joy from seeing Casio alive, he was quickly taken aback by the presence of a motionless Bently. Andris, in all his years alive, had never seen a dead body before. Sure, people he knew had died, but he had never seen them dead. He was always either too busy or too far away for any funerals. Seeing someone he knew dead like that, he couldn't really handle it. He didn't even know if Bently was really dead, he didn't ask Casio, all NQ managed to do was stand there and stare.
What finally snapped him out of his trance of depressing thoughts was when Echo started to talk. Hearing that Joey was alive brought him a quick moment of happiness, which was wiped away quick after Echo's next message, because he realized most of his friends who were on the station are now dead, bringing him back to the state of trauma that had gotten somewhat of an terrible shade of comfortable. After Echo finished he thought for a second and after Avery's addressal decided to speak up: "I'm going to try and find Haverson, sounds like he needs our help and fast. I'll meet up with you all in the Cyro chambers. Anyone coming with me?"

Alarmed by the prospect of being cryogenically frozen without the presence of any Medical Personnel Rhys visibly paled, his skin now in a ghostly contrast with the blood still trickling down from his nose. It was a difficult concept to grasp, that nearly everyone that had been living in the Station mere moments ago were now gone forever. Rhys was thankful his only friends on the Station aside from Sol were currently on leave.

"I wouldn't call 72 hours of Oxygen substantial, it takes two days for ships to even reach here from Venus, nevermind the fact that we don't even know when they're going to decide to send a rescue party."

Or if, Rhys thought to himself, nervously combing his fingers through his hair. "You're right about not resorting to the Cryogenic Chambers, though. There's no way I'm going in there without a health scan."

Looking at the second person who spoke, an unfamiliar man who looked to be about the same age as him, Rhys responded with a sigh. "I work under Haverson, I'll go with you. But first," Rhys looked around the room with half a smirk, "anyone know how to reset a broken nose?"

S.O.L.A.R

Sol didn’t move couldn’t move frozen solid by the sight Rhys made in front of him blood trickling from his nose a smear across his upper lip where Sol assumed he must have attempted to wipe the blood away. As fast as he was his thoughts could not process as he spoke You said you were fine! That is not fine Rhys! But there was no sound. It takes him a second, confused and frustrated before he recalls muting himself. It takes him another moment to turn the damn thing back on but he’s calmer when sending a message to Rhys over the forms.

“That is not what I would call fine”

And probably even less fine now. 7 humans left with a 72-hour time limit to which Solar assumed would not be including panic attacks. The increased respiratory rate when running or any other strenuous activity. Only the general rate at which humans breathed. Deep breaths were probably not a good idea either.

They needed to fix the Station's External Communications no one would be coming for them if they couldn't get the information out. Sol wondered for a second if they had a separate system for a distress signal or if they were well and truly in trouble until repairs could be made. Either way, they needed access to things outside the station. Sol had read a book on first aid a while back but it was nothing compared to what they could be dealing with. He knew, no one could learn faster than him and they needed a doctor quickly. Otherwise, they were all in trouble.

When Avery shifts Solar does too turning slightly towards her as if waiting for instructions. But really he's elsewhere thinking, over thinking, the Cryogenic Chambers seemed like a worst case scenario; something to do 72.6 hours from now. Maybe they could fix the station, get it into some kind of working order, it seemed unlikely but worth a shot. At the very least they could find a space suit oxygen tanks give everyone a little more time.

However, Solar doesn't give his input about the Cryogenic Chambers or what they should do next. He doesn't say he has some knowledge of first aid and firmly stays put even when he wants to take a closer look at Rhys nose. He simply reminds himself he's there to take orders. That is until the 72.6-hour mark when time was truly up.

1,2,3,4 Casio glanced up as the doors slid open, the last half of a shouted message on the Sceptre's P.A. system following S.O.L.A.R. and an unconscious Avery in from the hallway. 11,12,13,14, Another set of hurried footsteps drew her wide stare. Rhys looked as pale as she did, an expression of panic setting into his face as he saw who she was leaning on. Anders was right behind him, a sight that lent her some small measure of relief in this taxing moment. 19,20,21,22, Rhys had just asked about the doctor when Echo's intolerably calm tone cut in on the conversation. Casio felt the heat leave her body. Nine survivors. There was no doctor. She could keep pumping as long as she liked, she could even get Bently's heart going again, there wouldn't be any point, he'd just go into arrest again ... and that's if it even was his heart.

30 ...

Falling back onto her rump, Casio pushed herself backward, away from the dead man, wiping the taste of corpse off her lips. Only half of her was listening to Echo, the rest of her trying desperately to look away from the commander's frozen stare of shock and fear. The bottom half of the ship was gone. That explained the decompression she'd felt earlier. The white hole. Casio's lips drew into a thin line as she found her gloves with trembling hands and slid them on, finally tearing her eyes away from Bently's. There was a kind of relief in knowing that her tinkering with the proximity sensors hadn't been entirely at fault for this catastrophe. She pulled her way up the side of a console, and once on her feet put some distance between her and Bently. Whether she knew it or not, she'd taken steps toward Quaid.

Her slender hand rose to cover her mouth. She could taste her stomach. 38 dead, no comms, 72.6 hours of atmo, and a standing order to freeze themselves. No way. No frelling way. Her hand fell back to her side in a fist.

Another infuriatingly calm voice broke into the conversation. Avery, who'd regained consciousness during Echos prelude, had taken to her feet. Casio's jaw tightened. The woman hadn't done anything wrong, aside from maybe having an eveness of temperament to be jealous of in situations like this. Maybe it was just the concussion talking. A plan quickly developed to retrieve their now-commander Haverson. Casio didn't have a good feeling about it, though to be fair she felt pretty awful in most ways at the moment ... at least she wasn't the only one who didn't like the idea of being frozen.

Casio's 80% functional brain was still going over everything that could fail on a cryopod when Rhys asked about his nose. It took even longer for Casio's still-trembling hand to rise up from her side in a childish display of qualification. It wasn't often she was the ranking medical officer on a ship, Amazing what a few training sessions and a horrible disaster does for your prospects. She swallowed hard. Casio had never reset someone's nose before, but it was a comically straight-forward procedure... In theory. She glanced at Anders self-consciously, another flicker of a smile at the corner of her lips for a moment. God, just an hour ago her biggest concerns in life were beating his temporary high-score in Atomic Waffle Toss (A stupid, free VR game on the station's network ... because no one else can have the high score on anything.), and rust in water purifier 17. Now ...

"I uh ... I know how ... in theory ..." She sounded less and less confident with each husky burst of words. Approaching him, she inspected the injury, though she only sort of knew what she was looking for. Lifting her hands, she went about the procedure in her mind first, though even the thought made her cringe. It had been broken to one side.

"You're going to want to sit down. The one thing I do know, for sure, is that this is going to hurt."

Grabbing the nearest chair, Rhys wheeled it over in front of the cyborg who had moments earlier been attempted to save the life of their Commander and sat down. He was less worried about the pain and more worried that she might make it worse, but theory was better than nothing, and it was certainly more than he had. It was obvious she had some kind of previous medical training, after all.

"Thank you. The name is Rhys, by the way." Until a while ago he had never seen the woman before, and an introduction only seemed proper, even if the situation didn't exactly call for formalities.

With a deep breath, he clutched the arms of the chair, bracing himself for the pain to come. "I'm ready," he announced with a nod.

Casio watched Rhys pull up a chair. She chewed at her lip nervously, a slight grimace spreading across her face as she stared him dead in the nose. She didn't respond to his introduction, or his thanks. Wringing her hands a few times in an attempt to stop the trembling, removing her dirty gloves. She'd need to feel all of this as it went, the thought of which made her swallow, hard. She issued a deep breath almost in unison with Rhys. He clutched tightly at the chair. Casio tucked her gloves into her pocket and gently set her fingertips on either side of the bridge of his nose, just above the injury.

"Thank me if your nose heals straight ..." The if we survive this part went without saying. She felt the slightest bit of give, saw Rhys wince. The top of the break. "Okay, I'm going to count to three, start breathing out through your mouth slowly when I get to two ..." The colour drained from her face as her grip on either side of his nose tightened slightly. "1 ... 2 ..." She didn't bother saying three. If she had opened her throat to let words out, she might have thrown up on him. It's not like there were any options after 2 anyway.

Fighting her urge to pull away as her bare fingertips passed over the bloody mess of a nose, she felt him squirm as she carefully pulled the fragile cartilage back into place, finishing with a light tug outward on the tip of his nose. The job done, she pulled her hands away, her finger now covered in blood. A gag fought its way out, and she covered her mouth with her forearm, clenching her eyes and jaw as she swallowed again. "I uh ... Cassiopeia Vaellion ... Engineer Second Class ..."

She glanced at him again. He was still bleeding, and it wouldn't be wise to pinch his nose to stop it. Gesturing wearily with one finger, Casio offered a nod. "We'll need to find a medical kit at one of the engineering junctions on the way, put a bandage on that ..." Much as she didn't want to come, it was likely she was also the only mechanically trained person still on board. Casio's entire body was slowly tensing up. No pressure. She glanced to Anders "So uh ... I guess I'm coming too."

Anders glanced over at Casio. With a little effort, he kept from smiling, but he was still happy that she was coming along. It felt much easier to save an old dying man with a friend at his back. NQ knew who Haverson was, how could he not - the man was the head of security, the person who he had to avoid like fire whenever he tried to do business. But, As far as he knew, Haverson had no idea who Anders was, which was how he liked it.
With a snap, Anders looked at Rhys, then turned towards the Command Centre door and started to walk out: "Let's get going then, we don't need another casualty."

Traversing the Station in his usual trying-to-be-fast-but-trying-to-not-rush-ahead-and-die manner, NQ and the gang slowly, but easily locate the now-commander Haverson, with some help from Echo along the way. The man had gotten stuck in a hallway with a broken pipe and had been knocked out by the smoke. Saving him was the easy part,it took Anders a minute or so, covering his own face and holding his breath, he managed to drag the poor officer out of danger, the tricky part was making sure the man didn't have severe poisoning from basically sitting inside of a chimney while they had been stumbling to get to him.

"Cassie, give him CPR or something," Anders called his gaming buddy with the first name that came to mind and the quirky familiarity of using an on-the-spot made nickname in a situation like this hit NQ when he was already a meter or two away from the group, looking around the nearby area for certain supplies "I'm gonna see if I can find some tools to take his blood or something, figure out how poisoned he is."
