Non-Player Souls

Why hello again, students!

Please allow me to take a moment to introduce you to some of our faculty and staff as they will be supervising and teaching most of your classes! I do hope you're able to get along...

In any case, many of these people have been fighting kishin souls for far longer than you have. They can offer you wisdom in your struggles and they've even been kind enough to provide information on some of our current...not friends. You should thank them for that.

Please tell me more about what brings you to our esteemed academy then... no slide
Villain Application
For the time being, we are not accepting a lot of, if any, villains to be player controlled. Those that we might consider would need to be controlled by players who have demonstrated dedication to this rp along with a high skill in roleplaying. If you feel you might be one of these people and would like to try to submit a villain, please send a PM to @Arkytior she will discuss the idea you are interested in pursuing with you.
Teacher Application
Similar to villains, we are not currently seeking many teachers to fill openings within our staff. However, if you feel you have a good idea that would contribute to the plot and you have also demonstrated a commitment to this rp, please contact @Arkytior and she will discuss whether or not your idea is possible at the present time.
Note: Please do not expect a quick reply on these requests or be surprised if you get denied.

Psychological Review:
Personality: Flooded with boredom and a severe lack of motivation, it is a wonder that Hiro has managed to last as long as he has at the DWMA, although in all reality he’s never had to do much work because he is a weapon. He lets his meister do most of the work.

Although his motivation is often lacking, there are a few things that will force him to act. He will not allow his meister, no matter who it might be, to get into a close quarters serious fight. On the surface, this seems to be him being a coward and having a sense of self-preservation. However, deep down he really does care about the safety of his meister and he knows that he is no use in close quarters. Hiro will also not stand for anyone being extremely hard on themselves. He personally has a lot of confidence and he’s not about to watch anyone go on without sharing that confidence. Lastly, if Hiro is given a job, he does it regardless of his laziness. He won’t do it fast and it may not be clean, but it will get done.

True to his lazy ass lifestyle, Hiro really is not a good teacher and he prefers to think of himself as a supervisor. He will give his students something to get done and then watch as they get it done. The only time he would ever intervene is when he saw a student struggling with confidence in which case he suddenly becomes adventurous and creative, suggesting outrageous things to give them their confidence back.

Biography: Hiro first enrolled at the DWMA at the age of 11. He did so because his parents had both attended the school - they were a weapon and meister pair themselves - and they believed it would be best for their son to follow in their footsteps. It quickly became apparent that the DWMA was not built for everyone. Hiro’s grades were terrible because he just didn’t want to put in the effort. His parents stuck to the belief that he would figure it out although he continued to fail. Eventually at the end of his first year, Hiro’s parents received a letter stating that their son was being kicked out of the school. It was very depressing news for them to receive.

However, they were about to be surprised. When Hiro came home from school, he didn’t seem at all like a person who had just flunked out of school. His parents asked him about it and he told them he had a meister now so they couldn’t kick him out anymore. Hiro himself was apathetic to the situation, but his parents were ecstatic.

Hiro continued to go through school and he somehow found the motivation to at least scrape by in his classes. He was always the first to get yelled at for laziness and slacking off, but he didn’t care in the least. Hiro was also the first to admit that he didn’t care about his meister. He always claimed he didn’t care that finding Miyako had saved him from expulsion and he sounded legitimately truthful about it. This, of course, did not foster a good relationship between the weapon and meister pair.

Their first mission was inevitable. It was a simple mission really. There was one kishin egg soul to collect and it didn’t appear as though it would be much of a challenge to anyone. Even with their poor teamwork, it was supposed to be easy for Miyako and Hiro. It didn’t take much for things to start going wrong. Miyako tried to charge at their opponent with her rifle – Hiro – in hand and Hiro instantly transformed out of his weapon form, stating that he wouldn’t fight up close. He said he wasn’t good enough for it. That only earned him a scolding from his meister and when he continued to refuse, Miyako charged in without him while Hiro shrugged it off. It wasn’t his life at risk anymore.

However, as Hiro watched Miyako fight and slowly begin to lose, the weapon realized something. He had lied. He knew he was good enough for close combat. He also knew that such a thing would put his meister at risk. Hiro realized that somewhere along the way he had come to care for his meister; the reason he wouldn’t go in close with her was because he knew it endangered her life. At that moment, Hiro pulled a partial transformation and fired a single round. It was a dangerous shot that could’ve very easily killed his meister. But it didn’t. Instead, it saved her life.

Having a working relationship with a meister made Hiro’s life progress much easier after that. They learned how to work together and how to put up with each other and Hiro continued to scrape by in his classes. Time at the school eventually earned him the rank of death scythe and it was shortly after that that Hiro was called to fulfill that duty. He served two years as Lord Death’s personal weapon although he was eventually replaced by an actual scythe. He is now once more partnered with Miyako and occasionally (rarely) takes on the role of teacher.

Likes: Sleep, Chairs with wheels (because then he doesn’t have to stand up), coffee, confidence, seeing students succeed, distance fighting, caffeine, warm weather

Dislikes: Mornings, Physical exertion, Students giving up, not knowing exactly what is expected of him, being a teacher (it is too much work), sugar, cold weather, paperwork

Opinion of the DWMA: “I suppose I’m some sort of important person here… I don’t know.”

Biography

Miyako was ten years old when she entered the DWMA. She doesn’t remember much of her life before joining the school, but she doesn’t mind. As a young child she was definitely smart, almost always at the top of her class. She just was a bit impulsive, and tended to not play well with others. So it wasn’t really a surprise that for a good few years, the Meister didn’t have a weapon. None so far could even resemble a good match to her wavelength, and with her temper, staff thought it best to wait and see.

Then in came Hiro Mitsaki, sometimes ( now affectionately) called the bane of Miyako’s existence. While the title is a bit extreme, the girl was young and was easily annoyed. Hiro was about to be dropped from the Academy because of his failing grades and lack of motivation until it was remembered that Miyako was without a partner. It was decided that there was nothing to lose, so they tested Hiro and Miyako’s wavelengths and found that they were a decent enough match. The Lazy and The Rash were now a weapon and meister pair.

In the beginning it was extremely difficult for the two. Miyako always tried to stay on top of things and Hiro was content to let things get backed up. There wasn’t really a good relationship. It took a while, but eventually they got their first mission. It was a disaster waiting to happen.

The job was supposed to be simple enough, just collect one kishin egg soul. Miyako, holding Hiro in his rifle state, made to close in and complete the job was halted by her partner’s refusal. She demanded to know why he refused to get closer, and he informed her that he would not fight in close quarters. That he wasn’t good enough. Enraged and a tad foolish, Miyako charged in anyway. As she began to fight, it was quickly apparent that she would lose.

Angered at herself for being so weak and at Hiro for practically abandoning her, the young girl was unprepared for the shot that rang out and the sudden dropping of her opponent. Startled, she froze, staring at the dead enemy until she felt Hiro touch her shoulder. She looked up at him and felt the anger that had blazed moments ago fade instantly. He had said he wasn’t good enough yet he had just saved her life.

She claims she was still in shock when thinking back to her next actions, having turned fully towards her partner and hugging him in thanks. Taking the soul, the two returned to the Academy successful, and things started to become easier. Their partnership, while definitely not perfect, was easier and the two seemed to work well together as the years passed, even getting Hiro to become a Death Scythe.

At her partner’s promotion, Miyako was on her own again, although it was only for two years. Having finished her schooling and taking part in the creation of a Death Scythe, Miyako spent the next two years working to become a teacher at the Academy, having enjoyed her time there and not wanting to leave it halls. By the time Lord Death had attained another Death Scythe and Hiro was returned to her, Miyako had already secured her position as a teacher for the EAT class. The two were again partnered with each other and now work together as teachers, although Miyako does most of the work, enjoying having an active roll her teaching her students discipline.

Personality?

Swift to dish out violence and forms of physical harm, Miyako does have an aggressive nature, but it’s hidden by her bright smile and bubbly greetings. When looking her over, she seems extremely complex but instead she’s fairly simple. She’s loud, bouncy, and overly excited about almost everything. She’s upbeat and will happily beat you with a smile on her face. Some may say she comes off as violent, and that’s true. She is, but she does it in a way meant to help, another way of teaching her students.

Miyako has no problem fighting, or sparring, with her students to either teach them a lesson, or to discipline them. Or even just because she’s bored and wants some entertainment. She does this because she finds that experience is the best teacher. So why not start right off the bat? If a student wants to talk, they need to be able to prove it. It’s how she helps her students, because she does love them and never wants to see them hurt because she failed to prepare them properly.

Identification

Given Name: Keziah

Surname: Swan

DWMA Nickname: Silent Knight

Age: unknown... registered as an 18 yr old

Gender: Female

Height: 5’7”

Hair Color: Black

Eye Color: Blue

Standing

Are you an EAT, NOT, or NEW student? EAT

Are you a weapon or a meister? Meister

If in the EAT class and a meister, what is your rank? 2 Star

If a meister, what is your preferred fighting style? Keziah prefers to outsmart her opponents by first studying their style of fighting and adopting a form of fighting best fit to counter them. It is this reason that she is only considered a two star meister by the DWMA’s standards; she usually doesn’t have the right weapon with her to adjust her fighting style accordingly.

Personal Profile

What would others say are your strengths?

Keziah is highly intelligent with a mind bred for strategy. She is very skilled at using her allies to her advantage, she never goes into a situation without being adequately prepared, she had a mind that is good at analyzing the situation on the go and she is unemotional. Keziah doesn’t get attached to people and she doesn’t have emotions that could cloud her judgement.

Despite her lack of emotion, Keziah is extremely easy to cooperate with because she does not argue with people. Arguing is a waste of time, in her mind, so she just doesn’t argue or insult people. If they are doing something stupid, she allows them to continue their stupidity to whatever end - usually something bad, although she is very good at keeping herself from being impacted by the harmful result.

What would others say are your flaws?

Due to her lack of emotions, Keziah doesn’t make friends and she doesn’t really protect the people who she may be working with at various times. She isn’t the most sociable because she doesn’t see the point of it beyond learning what skills other people have to offer to the situation so anything she says to other people will be minimal at best.

Keziah can sometimes be so calculating and busy applying her own knowledge that logic escapes her and she creates a plan far more complicated than the logical approach which would happen to be just as effective. In this case, she puts in a lot more work than actually needs to be done, sometimes causing people to become very annoyed with her.

Despite all this, Keziah can be stubborn and hard-headed when people decide not to listen to her plans. While she won’t yell at them for failing to follow the plan, her anger with them will fizzle and grow for long lengths of time and eventually, she will reveal her grudge to them in a way that tends to be painful. Keziah very clearly wasn’t raised on sunshine and rainbows.

Describe your personality in 2 paragraphs or more:

Keziah is not the kind of person who makes friends; however, she is not the kind of person who avoids people altogether either. Keziah understands the value of working on a team and she has a very strategic mind. Even more interesting, she has a photographic memory which makes her even more suitable for strategy and battle planning.

Keziah is a highly intellectual being. She plans everything out before acting although she may not be the best at informing everyone else what the plan is because she wasn’t raised to value social interactions. She expects everyone to follow the plans even when they don’t understand them and Keziah rarely, if ever, goes into more detail on her plans than is absolutely necessary.

Classification: EAT

Occupation: School Nurse

Rank: N/A

Years on Duty: 2 years

Personal Profile

Likes: Young children, babies, all of the colors of the rainbow, MUSIC, being a nurse, treating students like they are her children

Dislikes: boring colors (gray, brown, black, white), people hurting her children (i.e. any student at the DWMA), having to be quiet - it means she can’t sing, old people, wrinkles - kinda goes along with old people, witches

Personality: “Treble Clef” Nadia Volteran absolutely loves anything having to do with music, singing or creating melodious sounds. As such, she has a way with words. Actually, it is more that she has a way with speaking. She doesn’t really talk in the sense that a normal person would; rather, she sings. The only thing that will get her to stop singing is if something really really bad happens. If things are bad, you will know because Nadia’s singing completely stops.

Going along with the singing, Nadia is a highly optimistic and overly bubbly person. She will talk to just about anyone and is practically always smiling. She also has a very caring nature in her heart and is a mother hen to just about anyone. She will become protective about anyone who enrolls in the DWMA, she hates it when people threaten or hurt her children, and she also hates to see her children fight amongst each other. At the same time - and this is where she gets kind of weird - Nadia also tries to be friends with all the students at the DWMA. She is like that mom when you are a teenager who still wants to go hang out with you and all of your friends. A lot of people think that this comes from the fact that she is so close in age to a lot of the students.

History: Nadia came to the DWMA when she was 15 and enrolled as a student. There were several odd things about her application to enroll. First, her application was covered in music notes scribbled in the sidelines and filling in all the blank spaces. Second, in the spot that asked whether she was enrolling as a weapon or a meister, there was quite literally nothing. It was as though she had either completely ignored the question or had no idea what it meant. Come to find out, here was a young teenage girl who thought it was completely normal that she could make knives grow out of her body. It was an ability her father had possessed before her and her grandfather before that.

Brought into the DWMA, Nadia was enrolled as a weapon and the staff never thought any more would come of it. Turns out, this little oddball was determined to cause more trouble. She was repeatedly sent to the death room after “refusing” to transform for any partner they assigned to her and no one knew what else to do but let Lord Death deal with it.

It was Lord Death who made all of the staff feel like idiots. None of them had even considered the fact that maybe Nadia didn’t have a full transformation. And he was right. Nadia Voltaren was a girl with a weapon gene, yet lacking any fully transformed form. That finally being realized, Nadia was trained by multiple different professors in order to use her transformations to the best of her ability without a meister. Nadia excelled. She never quite became a death scythe by the official definition, but she was told she would always be welcomed back if she needed a place to go.

After graduation, Nadia entered the world on her own, curious to see what kind of world it was now as opposed to what it had been when she had originally entered the DWMA. That was where she met Peter. He was 10 years older than she was, but age means nothing in that sense. Having never been able to get close to another person before, Nadia’s relationship with him excelled rapidly. Peter was a meister himself and he didn’t object to working with someone who wouldn’t so much be a weapon for him as she would be a comrade in battle. Within a year, the two were engaged to be married.

They were wed and expecting their first child soon after that.

It was then that they got called out on a mission. The witch’s coven was moving; no one knew what had prompted them to be on the move, but it was something the DWMA could not allow to go on without some sort of investigation. Nadia and Peter had no objections to their mission as their seemed to be little cause for it to cause any harm. Their only orders were to observe and report back. Unfortunately things don’t always go according to plan.

The witches had mobilized because one from their own ranks had undergone experimentation that caused her to be consumed with madness, and in that madness, she had transformed herself into a weapon that slaughtered endlessly and uncontrollably. She stumbled upon the weapon and meister pair while they were observing and unaware of her presence. Peter’s death was instant. In her despair and rage, Nadia’s entire body transformed into a plethora of knives, piercing everything remotely close. It was her knife that ultimately killed Peter - she later learned - as prior to that he could have been saved. It was also her knife that ultimately gave her the soul of a witch and thus transformed her into a death scythe. It was something she had never wanted, certainly not even as a consolation prize.

Consumed by stress and grief, Nadia went into a phase where she wouldn’t even sing. It was only then that she learned that her baby was also lost. No one heard from her or saw her.

A year passed and Lord Death summoned her to the academy. He wanted her to come back because he couldn’t stand seeing her as depressed as she was. Instead, he offered her a position of her choosing on staff with the school. He told her all the students could be her children seeing as she had lost her own. Nadia reluctantly accepted but came to love her job quickly, remembering her former joyous self. However, she quickly decided she didn’t like teaching. Nadia has been learning from the current school nurse and taking online classes with the hopes of eventually soloing as a school nurse on her own.

  • ? | Race/Species (human, witch, kishin egg, kishin, werewolf... etc):

Witch; her animal theme are bats.

? | How do they fight:

Asa fights, much like other witches, primarily using her magical abilities. Asa seems to avoid physical combat at all cost, and given their anorexic frame, it's probable that Asa simply cannot do much in hands-on fighting. Her spells allow her to perform a variety of tasks though, like dodging or dishing out damage. Asa tends to be highly ineffective in fights, playing around with their opponents.

Her mantra is "Ropalo Ropalo Vesper"

Any magical abilities? (Please describe them.)

They can cast a few destructive, as well as deceptive skills, most of which possess a distinct visual effect. Asa can seemingly dissolve her body into misty bat-shadows, as well as hinder an opponent's sight by clouding them with a swarm of the illusionary creatures. Whether it's offensive, defensive or of deceptive nature, all of her spells appear pitch-black and posses a shape which resembles bats, either ink or smoke like in texture. Liquid or vaporized elements generally seem to be her forte, as the witch seeks out such locations as well.

Relative Class When Compared to Meisters:

Most likely NOT. given that, despite her theoretical power, she completely lacks any sense of independent prowess in battles. Additionally, her physical short comings would prevent her from being a truely successful fighter.

DWMA Interview

Q. How long have you been in attendance at the DWMA?

A. This is my second year at the DWMA. I spent half of last year in the NOT class until I proved I could hold my own without a weapon. They didn't officially make me a One-Star Meister until this year, though.

Q. How do you feel about the DWMA?

A. The DWMA is great as a student. I think it must be insanely difficult to fund, but it's easily worth it. Meisters and weapons trained by this place help the world all over, so you could say this place is the most important university you could get into. I know I was excited when I first got my acceptance letter for the NOT classes. The only real thing I don't like is that a lot of the classes are teamwork oriented and I don't get some of the classes I would normally. I love history, but history here isn't really world history. It's like... DWMA history. I want to know about the whole wide world.

Q. Why have you joined the DWMA? What motivates you?

A. At first, I wanted to join the military. I wanted to go fight war. You see, my parents were killed in terrorist bombings before I ever met them. I wanted to fight the guys that took them from me... but, I've seen there are a lot worse things than evil men in this world. Real evil is what the DWMA fights. I want to help them fight so that no one has to go from family to family or get stuck in some state home. I think my parents would be proud of what I'm doing.

Q. What are your goals while attending the DWMA?

A. I've seen autonomous weapons, but you never see a Meister without a weapon. I don't want to rely on anyone. I've made it this far on my own and I'll prove I don't need help from anyone. I want to become the top Meister. I want to become someone that even teams are afraid of.

Q. How do you fight?

A. On my own. I spent a lot of time in NOT because I didn't want a weapon. I didn't want to rely on someone. I didn't want to have to have a weapon multiple my power. I want my power to be enough on its own. I read all up on how the Soul works and developed the skills I could, like Soul Perception. After a while, I learned how to use my Wavelength in ways most other Meisters didn't even think of because they were too worried about their Resonance. I don't need resonance; my wavelength will scream and shout louder than anything a team can do.

Q. What would others say are your strengths?

A. Determination. I will start training at sun up and not stop 'til it drops. If I fail an exercise, I won't quit until I can do it twice in half the time. Once I get focused on something, I won't stop. I can't stop. A sound soul dwells within a sound mind and a sound body. So I hone my body and I sharpen my mind so that my soul can become the deadliest weapon it can be.

Q. What would others say are your flaws?

A. This one is easy. Teamwork. I can function in a team, but I don't like to be held back. I don't like to be challenge. I won't at all be insulted. Sure, maybe a few jerks can beat me now, but most of them are older and work in pairs. I can fight any Meister or Weapon alone and win, I bet. I don't like to be told what to do, period. Even teachers hound me about that. I want to do things my way. I want to prove it can be done. I got this far on my own and I don't think I need others. If I do, then it has to be something they couldn't do alone, either.

Q. What do you like?

A. I like a lot of things, really. I listen to alternative rock, maybe some metal. I like sports, though I prefer more fast paced ones. Basketball, mostly. I would love football, but apparently football is soccer and the DWMA is an international school, so I've given up trying to play American football. Aside from that, I like to train. I like to push my limits. To find new things. I love to push myself and my soul to its limits.

Q. What don't you like?

A. Actual violence. You'd think I'd love to fight, and I do. But, I do it for fun. I don't mean to hurt anyone. I absolutely hate anyone that would use force and violence to make a point or get there way. It's why I'm here; to stop it. I don't want to just be a shield. I want to be the sword that cuts off the hands of those holding the trigger to innocent people.

Character History

Paul was born in the Big Apple: New York City, New York. His father was a paralegal working for the same law firm as his mother. While there was a a fiasco with their relationship at first (his father left his first wife for his to-be mother after a long-term extramarital affair), they ultimately settled down to have a happy family. His mother returned to work immediately after maternity leave; her occupation made nearly twice that of their father, but his father took his own time off as well. It wasn't until Paul was right around two that tragedy struck. The last few years had been full of strife over recent terrorist attacks in the city, and his parents' law firm was one involved in many of the cases involving liabilities and pay-outs. Simply being involved was enough to make it a target, and one fateful evening at 12:03 PM, a bomber posing as a deliveryman for lunch bombed their office, resulting in the deaths of 43 employees, including both of his parents.

From then on, Paul was an orphan. His parents had both left their parents a long time ago, and unfortunately they were too old to truly care for him anyway. His father had only one brother and he was in prison. His mother, like him, was an only child. It likely attributed to her successful career. There was no one to really take Paul in, and so he was left to the state. Paul grew up in homes, normally jumping from temporary foster parents among groups of other kids around his age or older. While he generally had a good chance of being adopted, the hysteria in the following years of the city lowered adoption rates significantly and people were often more worried about their own families. Kids like Paul met friends, orphans like them or kids and school, but they realized quick that their friends - like their temporary guardians - never lasted long. Often reassigned to new homes or cycled through the system as he got older, Paul went through friends and enemies as a young kid. Ultimately, he began hating the war and violence that create his situation and he learned you got hurt a lot less sticking to yourself.

As Paul grew older, he found himself almost out for revenge. He wanted to join the military; to get back at those that hurt him. However, these ideas grew up just like he did. He realized, mostly from the bullies in the homes he was at, that violence only makes things worse. Getting back at someone hurting you doesn't solve anything. He saw it first hand. It just caused fights, lots of grief and got you a bad rep. He still wanted to join the military, but not really out of revenge. He wanted to serve and protect. A part of him always wanted to make sure what happened to him never happened to anyone else. Then, he stumbled upon the DWMA. In all reality, the first time he ever met someone with the Weapon Gene spurred on his research. He was twelve and she just hit puberty, so her manifestations started. Paul was utterly fascinated by this and began researching it himself.

After a year of figuring out what the DWMA was, he began writing letters to the DWMA recruitment officers. He wanted to get in and he knew most applicants got in around his age or a little older. After months of persistence, he was eventually answered by a recruiter and even a chance for an interview. There, he explained all about his life and why he wanted to join the DWMA. He was passionate about it, and that passion was enough to convince a recruiter to give him a chance. With the green light, he was accepted at fourteen. He spent a year in NOT classes, mostly because he didn't want a weapon, but ultimately, he developed a fighting style that put him nearly on par with actual duos. Placed in the EAT classes as a specialist, Paul effectively proved he didn't need a weapon to be a good Meister.

Character Traits

Personality

In a single word, Paul is determined. Driven, really. He has a clear goal, he has a strong motivation and he wants to make it happen. If anything, Paul is career oriented. He wants to make something out of his time at the DWMA that will somehow keep another kid from going through what he did. In his mind, which at his age truly hasn't developed yet, that is his idea of making the world a better place. At root, that's all Paul really wants to do. He wants the world to be a better place than it is and he knows firsthand how bad it can be.

In all reality, Paul is probably already cynical and slightly pessimistic. While his determination and will is strong, his extroverted side sees the world as a place full of violence and misfortune. Some people are just luckier than others. Paul has spent plenty of restless nights knowing that his parents combined made more money than most, and that if that one man never let his finger off that switch, he would likely be living in relative luxury right now. He would have never been beaten up by bullies or forced to say goodbye to friends. He would never understood the reality of having others chosen over you. Paul has spent so much time with all of these emotions that he barely processes, and honestly, he blames almost all of it on unneeded violence. Paul loves to spar, to test himself, but he hates using violence or threats to get what he wants. He is by far no diplomat, but he doesn't like to hurt anything unless he has to.

Likely above all of that, Paul has felt alone almost all of his life. He spent his younger years making friends with other orphans. Some were adopted, mostly girls, but most of them weren't. Most of his earliest friends, the people he developed his first attachments to, were sent off to other homes or adopted out. He never really emotionally anchored himself anywhere. By the time he was older than one could count on a hand, he had already grew to disliking making friends because in a few months or maybe a year or two they would just disappear again and he had no power over it. Sure, maybe it would have made the time easier, but it would have been a waste. No pay off. He would likely never meet them again. These emotions carried over into his time at the DWMA, and basically sculpted him into the Meister he is today.

Wavelength

Paul is considered a prodigy with personal Wavelength manipulation. He has developed several ways to alter his wavelength to create desired effects, mostly for utility, as well as learned to use a high-level Wavelength technique normally only seen used by Three-Star Meisters. Of course, Paul also cannot resonate whatsoever. In any exercise in which his teacher managed to convinced him to attempt matching his Wavelength with others, he has failed - to such a degree he found a method to utilize his failure offensively. He also cannot match himself with a weapon; on a subconscious level, he rejects them, making them useless pieces of wood or steel that he can't channel his wavelength through. Even if he wanted to wield one, he probably couldn't without years of therapy. This same barrier prevents him from Soul Synchronization, although that particular barrier might be one that can be developed with time. Synchronizing his soul with others to create a team dynamic might be something he is unable to do due to his lack of practice with regular Soul Resonance, but his recent attempts showed him as an absolute failure in regard to this technique, leaving him to develop his individual abilities.

Soul Force

? (canon) allows the user to channel their Wavelength and use it to strike their opponent. Paul uses this ability as the foundation for several others. Additionally, Paul can use Soul Force in multiple limbs simultaneously, and even manifest different variations of Soul Force.

Soul Menace

? (canon) is a more powerful version of Soul Force that allows the user to strike with an electrical attack capable of damaging a weapon even in its Weapon Form. The use of this ability is what convinced his teachers to place him in the EAT class despite not having a weapon and consider him prodigal. The use of this ability, however, prevents him from using any other Soul Force abilities in any of his limbs, making this ability his most powerful and most tactical ability.

Soul Perception

? (canon) grants the user the ability to see souls. Paul's Soul Perception is an average range, but is incredibly clear. So clear, in fact, that he has used his perception to study his wavelength to gain greater control over it.

Soul Force: Adhesion

? is a variation of Soul Force that allows the limb Paul is using to adhere to a surface (of any kind, including water). The exception to this is air and fast moving fluids, such as a rushing river. The use of this ability prevents the use of any other Soul Force ability except Projection, as the soles of the barrier around his feet can adhere to any normal surface. However, this adhesion is then exclusive to said portion of his barrier.

Soul Force: Projection

? is a variation of Soul Force that allows Paul to create a short, bodily barrier around wherever he focuses on. This barrier is stronger when it is larger, this meaning full-body barriers are the strongest, however, come at the cost of every other potential Soul Force ability with the notable exclusion of sole-based Adhesion. (see: Soul Force: Adhesion).

Soul Force: Disruption

? is a variation of Soul Force that, when used with his incredibly clear Soul Perception, allows him to disrupt the Wavelength of his target. This ability can throw off resonance and completely stop larger attacks if they are disrupted sufficiently. While regular Soul Force could theoretically do this, this ability is honed in to a single specific target to best disrupt their Wavelength(s). This ability is best used to disrupt Soul Resonance, however, Paul is presently working on a variation of this technique that will allow him to disrupt Magic.

Physical Prowess

Paul effectively lives by "a sound soul dwells within a sound mind and a sound body" - with plenty of emphasis on the body. He performs intense daily exercises that started far earlier in life due to his obsession with the military. His physical capabilities are often overshadowed by those he has made with this Wavelength manipulation. For each leap he has made with his mind, ie a new advancement with his Soul Force abilities, he has equally enhanced his body to withstand it. Paul believes it is both his sharp mind and honed body that allow him to use his abilities, so it is not to be believed that research and understanding alone have brought him to this point. Paul is physically stronger than many students his senior, physically faster than Meisters even a rank above him and his endurance makes him ruthless. The fact is, he has to be. Paul has to be strong enough to make up for his offensive lack of a weapon, agile enough to dodge or otherwise keep up with Meisters training to use their weapons and his body has to endure all of his harsh training. Unfortunately, Paul spends less time incorporating actual combat into his style than he does new techniques and the lack of a dedicated Martial Arts instructor at the DWMA puts him back slightly. While he would love to learn elements of Aikido, Krav Maga or even Jeet Kune Do, he has basically be limited to a few elements of Wing Chun for his combat style. He is no MMA master, but he's no stranger to the martial arts, either.

? DWMA Name? ?

"Let's not get into that... Fine, it's Mr. Darcy. Yes, like in Pride and Prejudice."

? Staff ID? ?

"27142"

? Age? ?

"31, yes, I know, I'm practically an old man."

? Gender? ?

"I mean, gender is one of social constructs we talk about in my Sociology class, so the question is an arbitrary one if you consider... ugh, never mind. I'm male."

? Height? ?

"I'm 6'1", so I guess I'm pretty tall."

? Hair Color? ?

"It's a blue.. grey.. white color??? A student once told me it was powder blue, so let's go with that."

? Eye Color? ?

"Those are blue, unless they've changed since the last time I looked in a mirror, haha"

? Opinion of DWMA? ?

"I like it here- Though I'm not always sure my students appreciate what I teach. As a Structure, the DWMA perpetuates the very violence and hatred it fights to correct, so I'm not entirely supportive of the system it embodies, but there's not many places a weapon can teach, and I want to fight the causes of this violence at its source, so here I am."

Biography

Kane was 15 when he entered the DWMA's EAT class as a student, and while he and his partner were rather successful, Kane never really enjoyed the fighting aspect of the DWMA lifestyle. He was always more of a bookworm, and fell in love with a wide variety of studies. In his third year, he finally acheived the point of 99 souls- all it would take is a witch soul to become a Death Scythe. Kane was adamant that he wasn't ready for this challenge, but his partner insisted. Eventually, they found the witch they were to target. She was younger than Kane, a small girl who used magic to protect and provide for her impoverished family, who lived not 100 miles from the DWMA. When it came to the moment of truth, Kane reverted to human form, refusing to kill the witch who would have made him a Death Scythe. He vowed in that moment that he would never kill good people that the world had turned into monsters. He would stop them from becoming monsters instead.

Unsurprisingly, no one was too pleased when he retired from active duty the moment he graduated, but Kane was determined to contribute to society in more scholarly ways than with his body. He was done being a weapon, done with violence, done with hate.

He actually attended a prestigious university in upstate New York, returning to the DWMA at age 25 with a teaching Degree in the Social Sciences. Since then, he's taught the NOT class a variety of subjects, included Psychology, Sociology, History, and Philosophy. His classes are only open to 2nd and 3rd year NOT students, and have a heavy focus on this history of Madness, and the various factors that cause Madness to spread. His main goal in teaching is not to end Kishin Eggs and Witches after they become a problem- rather, he hopes the knowledge he spreads will lead to reform, and prevent the circumstances that give rise to these evils.

He's gotten in a lot of trouble with the administration, given that he tends to rant about how his students should "pity kishin eggs who have been forced into evil by the very society we have created" and how "Witches are merely victims of religious prosecution, us hunting them down makes us no better than them!" but despite all of that, he's a favourite among students for his laid back attitude and eccentric teaching style.

Personality?

Parson-sensei is your stereotypical "cool professor." He'll show up to class in Pajama pants and a T-shirt, never really has a lesson plan, and has a really bad tendency to swear while lecturing. Still, his classes tend to be student led discussions, and focus on concepts like free thought and independence. He does everything on a pass/fail basis, and surprisingly, a lot of people fail.

He's kind of a crazy free thinking hippie, and while that scares away a lot of the more stuffy students, he's also a really good friend to students, and his office door is always open to anyone who wants to talk, whether they're in his class or not. When he's not teaching, he's volunteering somewhere, and he's always taking students on volunteer field trips to end inequality in some remote corner of the world.

A lot of students see his classes as a joke- an excuse to slack off and come out with an easy A. Those students will have an easy semester, for sure, but are always a little shocked when their report card comes back with an F. He's really serious about his subject behind his bright friendly smile, but he's always willing to help anyone in need.
