I would be interested in this RP but I only watched the anime so I don't know anything about the manga series...

The Manga is pretty much the same, kind of

Buuuuut, I'll make a description of the Manga, to those of you who haven't seen it. Also don't worry too much about the difference, we're going to be combining the two soon.

The Manga, in my eyes anyways, dwells deeper into the lore of the Soul Eater Universe, with a more interesting plot and a better Ashura Antagonist. The anime is fairly the same, the same interaction between blackstar and Death the Kid in the beginning, the same overall narrative of ones Soul, so really you won't be confused, not too much. There's nothing the anime shows that the manga doesn't, or anything we need rather, other than the whole hybrid weapon meister scenario. I'll list a few major differences between both of them bellow -
  • Kishin Egg: In the manga, one must collect nintey-nine Evil Human Souls and one Witch Soul. Those Souls are on a list made by Death and specify who is allowed to be hunted in DWMA. However, the anime introduces the Kishin Egg, leaving it up to the student's ability in Soul Perception to find Kishin Souls and hunt them down. A Kishin, if you do not know, is an aspect of both worlds and is a being that has consumed much too many pure human souls than the opposite would do with Kishin Souls, and is capable of destroying the world as we know it. They are able to willingly manipulate Madness Wavelength, and achieve devastating results because of it. The only known full Kishin we have, is Ashura, who in both cases was someone apart of the Shinigmi Legions that held fear, so he fed his weapon pure human souls, and absorbed the weapon, becoming a Kishin. While the overall concept is the same, both go different routes with this. The anime shows Ashura to be a rather strange fellow, one who held connections with witches such as Aracne before his sealment within his own skin. Little is known of his backstory, but he absorbed the witch Aracnes soul and became even more powerful, fighting off the Trio of BlackStar, Death the Kid, and Maka. You know the rest, they fought, Soul fell, death the kid connected some Lines of Sanzu, blackstar pushed him back, big blast, and now here! The Manga however goes into a bit of a deeper aspect, with Asura being shown to be a Shinigami, and the first child of Death. As in the manga the Shinigami are fragments of Deaths soul, he became the fragment of Deaths Fear, in an attempt on Death ridding himself of Fear and becoming absolute order. It then follows the same as the manga, eating the weapon, becoming the first kishin, and being sealed within his own skin. After escaping, he fled to the moon, which followed into something I'l go into more detail later. Also, In the Manga, Crona also is classified as a Kishin, as he absorbed the Kishin Asura. I'll get into that later on as well.
  • Soul consumption: In the anime, it's slightly inconsistent as Death stated that only weapons could consume souls, but it's seen practically anything can consume souls. Only in the anime have non demon weapons seen consuming souls, except for Asura, but he is a Kishin. In the manga, WhiteStar, Jack the Ripper, etc etc, they never ate souls but are charged for crimes. It's the opposite in the anime.
  • In the Manga, Marie is pregnant with Steins Child, and the two are fairly close. In the anime while she does like him, she isn't pregnant.
  • Joe Buttataki, remember Maries ex? His roles were different. In the anime it was to build a device for Brew, but in the manga it was to search for spies.
  • The Black Needle wavelength utilized by Death the Kid is only in the anime.
  • Also, probably the biggest difference here, spoiler btw ig, in the Manga, Death dies. In the anime, in his battle with the Kishin Asura he is badly wounded as you know, but in the manga, he doesn't have that battle. Instead, when Death the Kid alligned the Lines of Sanzu and became a complete mature Shinigami, that meant he was the last one, and his father died, as there can not be two mature shinigamis alive at once. Mind you that Asura does not count, as he is technically not a "Mature shinigami", his lines of sanzu were always connected. It's not the same case for his brother. Anyways, he connects the two and Death Dies, with Excalibur promising to watch over Death the kid in the upcoming years of his Godhood. This, as you can see, will pretty much drastically change the course of the rp, on which who stays as the Shinigami. Following the anime and keeping Death as the SHinigami, or the manga, with Death the Kid becoming the new SHinigami.
  • Also another large lore point, in the anime, the truce between witches and DWMA never happens. In the Manga, the witches help in the final battle between the Kishin Asura and the Shinigamis forces, and the pact is made. That, however, doesn't happen in the anime.
  • Justin Law, remember him? In the Manga, he betrays DWMA, and joins the Kishin Asura because . . . reasons. I honestly thought it was just bad author writing. Anyways, he is killed on the moon by Stein and Marie. But, in the anime that doesn't happen, and he stays loyal.
  • Aracne: Remember her? See as stated, in the anime she's killed and her soul is consumed by the Kishin Asura, but, in the Manga, she is killed and consumed by Mak ALbarn and her weapon SOul, with Soul become a Death Scythe because of this. In the anime, he doesn't.
  • On a lesser note, remember the body that Medusa took over? Yeah, in the manga she leaves her willingly, but in the anime she was forced out by Makas Genie Hunter Technique, which actually killed her. On that note, in the Manga she actually died by Crona killing her.
  • Mosquito was not defeated by the trio of meisters and their weapons during the battle on Lost Island in the manga. In the anime, Maka uses the Genie Hunter to reduce him to a head and he escapes with "BREW".
  • In the Manga, Mifune is killed by BlackStar in their final battle. But in the anime he is spared, and becomes a teacher at DWMA. One of the changes in the anime I'd actually favor really. Post his death, Angela is taken in by DWMA. But in the anime, she stays with him.
  • A rather small diffrencia, the "paths" shown in both series. In the Manga, BlackStar, between following the Path of a Warrior or a Demon, chooses the path of a Warrior and strives to be a warrior god. But in the Anime, he chooses a path of his own.
  • Another small difference, in the manga Kim is seen to be a witch, and in the anime she isn't. I mean, this is kinda, eh, doesn't really matter much, only for character interaction.
  • Crona: Ooooh, here's one of the big ones. In the Anime, Crona is shown as an antagonist for a small amount of time, being as good as to even try to fight of their mother, but they are harmed in the process, before being sent back to DWMA. Now in the manga, if you can't tell, that is NOT the case. In the Manga, Crona is a villain, straight up. They seem to want to stay with Maka, but Medusas influence is much too grand, and they end up following her orders, before eventually killing her. She goes on into her decent into madness, absorbing the Kishin Asura and temporarily become a Kishin, before Asura takes over their body. Still deep in Asura and his Madnes, Crona sacrifices themselves to help Maka, and kill Asura.
That is all the main differences. Now I'll go into some specific points in the lore more in debt
