Fandom Soul Eater: Infectious Insanity

1. I actually do not have a way in mind that allowed PCs to survive the explosion. If you have ideas, I’m open to them, otherwise it probably won’t be something that’s explicitly stated.
2. I do not have any established guidelines for making clans because it wasn’t something I anticipated a lot of people would be interested in doing. For now, just run ideas by me before getting too set on pursuing them please.
3. It is possible that people who aren’t PCs survived the explosion although I didn’t explicitly have any NPCs in mind for that. I would be suspicious if every player suddenly said their character had family that survived it though.
4. 1-Star student does not necessarily mean new. Maka was a 1-Star student and from her abilities, I wouldn’t guess she was new by any definition of things. NOT students are not necessarily new, either. NOT students specifically are just students who choose not to pursue the knowledge of combat abilities. They’re still learning how to control their abilities so that they can safely blend in with humanity, though and learning that could take time.
5. On how many students could have possibly survived, it’s hard to say. Quite a few students were successfully evacuated before the explosion even happened so those ones are all still alive. I don’t think it will be likely that anyone’s second character is also a character who was in the DWMA when it exploded and survived the explosion, though.
6. I wouldn’t say it was an all out attack by the witches. It was more a strategic strike timed appropriately for there being few defenses to prevent it.
7. There are death scythes in this universe but none of them are canon characters.
8. OOC will probably be in a thread. I’ve tried using discord before and aside from the first time I used it for OOC, it hasn’t really been effective because there’s always one or two people who don’t join or who don’t check in often enough.
9. Magic - no. Soul abilities that make sense for a meister to have and seem like they belong in the soul eater universe - sure. They’ll have to be approved ahead of time though.
10. Species List: Earth Shaman, Monster Cat, Witch, Shinigami, Werewolf, Bloodsucker, Sorcerer, Clown
    Of these, I would prefer players not be shinigami, bloodsuckers or sorcerers. If you can make an interesting character of it that I’m willing to accept, though, I might be willing to accept it. If you’re going to play a witch who was a student, then they have to be a tanuki witch (like Kim from canon).

Im interested I don't know what type of character I am going to make yet, though I have in mind a weapon based around a guitar. I originally had the idea of a witch but Comet's list above cleared up my questions regarding that so I am probably just going to build a concept around a weapon. Maybe a Monster Cat, I have an idea for one of those as well. The agony of choice.

The species narrowing also helped so thanks again. Now here is where I pitch and see if anything lands but I might ask a question in between.

C- is for chara pitch, q- is for question.

Q1. So since Excalibur, Arachne, and eibon don't exist in this; and Excalibur was the main reason the concept of demon weapons existed at all andn was practiced, who or what party canonly made the demon weapon species in this au?

Was it some party of sorcerers, was it a witch or group of witches (who probably got gaslighted by other witches on top of Lord Death hunting them down), was it some weirdo who found a spellbook at school and was like heck yeah " time to play god" or? Im just generally curious as to what party made them and how i could use that for ideas if i made a weapon to balance roster.

Q2. So Maba doesn't exist in this, its sort of interesting to think about cuz while witches in the show are seen to be autonomous and free to do whatever- they still had a semblance of social structure and mores. They answered to Maba and her council when the chips are down, even medusa for all her insubordination did her experiments with the blessing of the witch queen. But they dont have one, so are witches just split into groups that do their own thing here and are disconnected or are they all governed by their own council and split accordingly?

These arent all my chara concepts. The four listed in here are the ones i feel need the most looking at. So here they are.

C1. Since earth shaman are on the table I'll pitch this:

Gaius is a meister and a member of a earth shaman clan that generally has connection to a tribe of other earth shaman. His have been working with dwma in the most recent century, they however don't like to be called Earth shaman and even more don't like outsiders knowing they are even are. The only ones i imagine that knew this was Lord death and the death scythes that control the organizarions. Clan members that have joined dwma before him have never been publicly known as being earth shaman or have faked being soul perceptionists to hide this but that's fluff you'll learn more about if this gets a green light.

The only connection you can make to his clan is the unique style of 'marks' or tattoos every single person in the clan bears since childhood, usually associating to symbolism of nature or animals tattooes. Its considered a stylistic choice to the outside viewer done due to culture but the tattoo actually is a vague hint to what a person can do with their abilities. And like every single clan member before him that has joined dwma, he's tight lipped about being an earth shaman but doesn't actually fake being a soul perceptionist, since he is one. If anything he just combines it with his earth shaman abilities.

C2. Hyun-jun is from the korean clan called Bulkkoch (flame/fire/heat). He and three of his clan cousins, the Bul clan and Beongae clan are the descendants of siblings; a witch and sorcerers.

Theres two directions im looking at for him since he can't be augmented magically.

A) he himself is a sorcerer in training.

B) he has taken the notes of his family in the use of how to expand on the capabilities of the soul wavelength, and has tapped into spiritual elemental manifestation or energy conversion and has learned how to convert his spirit energy/wavelength into actual fire. Though thr capabilities will be limited.

C3. A demon weapon that can adjust his weapon form. His tribe were an experiment conducted by a group hired by witches, to turn demon weapons against dwma lr create more powerful demon weapons that worked to make a witch more powerful. The concept fell out, cuz what they wanted wasn't what they got and that's where the Eccentras comes in.

Kev is a Eccentra. His original form is a pistol. Something like a shotgun if you need a vague and somewhat close image. He can adapt his form into a hybridized form, which alters his original form into a dual pistol, that trades off less power for more range and fire.

C4. Caitt is a demon weapon that calls herself a child of Bastet. Bastet, was a monster cat. And no she's not part of a cult and being a 'child of bastet' isn't a religion, anymore. Bastet according to artists of the past was a two tailed monster cat believed to have been a goddess that appeared multiples in different ruling periods of egypt's ancient era. Every time she appeared, bad situations shifted to prosperity.

Caitt, takes that statement very seriously. She says its because of lord death her family even exist but its because of bwzastet she is immune to the infection. In truth, that last part isn't entirely a lie. Bastet is actually her ancestor, its just whatever biological yahoo keeps her from being infected isn't because of her ancestor. She got something else from Bastet entirely, much like most of the non-humans in her family.

I'm kinda up for being whatever, weapon, meister, chiropractor, lemon salseman, rabbit puncher, kung fu master, living stone monkey, etc etc.

Weapon comes with the requiredknowledge of a suitable meister, and likewise for meister character.

And yeah you are right Orikanyo but for our first charas we are supposed to have dwma students who had partners and can have partners that aren't with us any more, they don't necessarily have to be a part of the cast. Unless i misread that last line, kinda to you were hinting at a question or something.

I'm down for being flexible tho, but in general most of my first characters wont be seeing their partners again at all for a variety of reasons. Most of them iv already decided they either bailed or got pulled out when things hit the fan and as far as I'm planning iv got no intentions of bringing them back out unless its necessary.
