Fandom Soul Eater: A New Beginning

As the rest of the students began to pour out of the room Atso placed the plaque back on the wall, and began walking down the hall. "I'm not saying you can't be a student, but if you can't meet the requirements, why bother?" He gave a slight wave to her as he walked away. Though he didn't know who this girl was, she intrigued him. 'That front she likes to put up is an interesting one, she's obviously gone through a lot in life.' "I'll see you around," he said knowing that she couldn't possibly hear it over the chatter of the other students. He decided to explore the school, he headed down a few flights of stairs which lead to the labyrinth of a basement. The rooms down there were few and far between, though one room caught his eye.

He moved the 'do not enter' tape out of his way and picked the doors lock. They opened with a loud creak, he checked his back to to make sure nothing was and no one was following him. He entered a large torn up room, there was only one decoration, the mark of the kishin.

Hunter peered around before following Dante. "I believe we might have to ask if we can sign up yet." shrugging he listened in as well, watching them speak along side his meister he peered to his music player tapping around it though not playing any music. "We have the location, and what we're looking for. Let's just throw our names over it and go. It'll make this much easier and I don't really want to let anyone else have that Witch soul." Smirking he put his player back into his pocket as he walked over to the mission board, claiming the 'Destroy Witch' mission, he pondered at the fact that they may make them take another team on the mission, which in that case if they did find and kill the Witch they would have to compromise, though he had a deal in mind that would be hard to refuse.

Dante would actually just continue to stare for a few more moments looking at the professor he didn't much think of it as eavesdropping. But more of information gathering, killing the thing of curiosity that lingered in the backs of his mind. He'd finally go to speak his cold analytically voice carrying a certain weight. "I would hope you'd remember my name Professor Wing." He would say this though it would be hard not to from what happened last year getting him expelled from DWMA. "I was only interested in the girl, and what you were saying." He'd draw back his hood revealing his caramel skin and gray eyes, hair crimson like blood. These features all complimenting each other.

"Of course, who else would be as interested as much." He watched as he drew his hood back, the gray eyes seeming as though they could look right through you. "Only some information on these two becoming partners, and them accompanying me on an observation mission. The group that takes on the witch will have quite the praise when I see it.". Calvin walked over to Dante, leaning on the wall and talking in a low hush, "Are you ready this year Dante?". Calvin's glasses were low enough to show off his eyes, the ones piercing at Dante. His eyes didn't show anger or concern, but curiosity. They were constant, staring, maybe at his soul, maybe just at his well being.

Hunter appeared through the door way quickly standing next to his partner. "Better get a party ready for us when we come back, because that Witches soul will be ours." Hunter had a smirk on his face one with great confidence as if he already knew that they would accomplish this mission with no hassle. Hunter turned his music on quietly, though just enough that he could hear it coming from his headphones which sat idly around his neck. "Are you giving us permission to go on this 'witch hunt' without another team with us. Even if you make another group come with us we'd find a way to ditch them and even you should realize this."

Dante would turn his gaze to Cross trying to evaluate her. His attention would be drawn to Wing as he approached uncrossing his arms as he came close to him standing upright showing his full height. looking to his professor for another year. "Well Professor Wing, I am taking on this witch mission." He'd say in a his normal tone, he'd then lean in again after he heard what Calvin had said. "I don't believe the school would of let me back in if I wasn't." He'd say returning the soul piercing look, it was much like two allies with an intense rivalry. Dante being the more chaotic of the two from his past, some referred to him as another Stein. But that was far overshooting it though the qualities were there.

"Tch... Now this s**t I can't wait to see..."

Cross chuckled leaning back against the wall. The demon weapon turned her shrewd gaze on the the boy who the professor had referred to as Dante. Her gaze was unflinchingly intense, her scarlet eye seeming for the moment brighter than its violet hued opposite. A familiar half smile curved her lips, as it always did when she was in one of her manic moods. Her hand, when it slipped out from the sleeve to brush her hair aside was fully wrapped in bandages. She was aware of the evaluation of her person that was occurring but had little to say on the matter. Instead she settled for evaluating the boy right back. After a moment she simply sighed obviously bored.

"Well, its good to have you back Dante." He then saw Hunter enter the door too, "And this must be your weapon Hunter.". He watched as the student was blaring music, but could obviously hear his partner because he chimed in too. "Well if you both insist on taking on the witch, then you shall need another team to accompany you." Before they could protest he began again, "I would rather you take another team, perhaps the one you are interested in Dante." He gave a nod towards Break and Cross. "And trust me Hunter you won't be able to ditch them, they might be more motivated then you are.". This was just to create a rivalry between the teams, but the rivalry would come out anyways. Dante had a friendly student-teacher competition already in the works, while Break was something of a teacher's pet, they were destined enemies. "I will we be there too, so don't try any funny business." He gave a smug look to Hunter, and then opened the door fully. "Might as well meet your other team now."

"Call me Break," he regarded her plainly, trying to get a handle on her before doing any paperwork. This weapon seemed to have absolutely no rhyme or reason to her. Arbitrary actions, unpredictable behavior; that was about standard, he figured, for a demon weapon. Still, it went right in the face of his ordered, proud soul. The student regarded his teacher, "I'll apply after a mission runs its course. I'm getting a bit tired of the partnership withdrawal paperwork."

At her mention of a nap, he was already scowling at the girl. He made no attempt to question the straight jacket when she could just unbuckle it herself. Rather, he simply stood by and watched the proceedings.

As things progressed and the other team entered, he augmented Professor Calvin's words with an explanation directed at the group, "Cross and I will be working alongside Professor Wing, you see. I'd be glad to have you two along on the mission, if you've had time to aquatint yourselves with what it means to be a weapon."

With the two actually ready to hand in a form, Break went into his usual aggressive preparation methods. These three would be included in his list of things to consider, of course, and they'd be working on his time whether they liked it or not. He motioned for the other student's attention and informed them, "We'll be taking the time to learn each other's abilities after this. Cross, we'll need to see who can benefit from being the Meister and who should be the Weapon. Dante and Hunter, right? I'd like you two to stick around so I can get an idea what you're capable of. I won't be slowed down because you panic when you have no idea what is going on."

"If I seem a bit forward, I apologize," Break continued, taking a second to look them all over. "Witch hunts are a very big deal, no matter how inexperienced the Witch."

Calvin was proud at his student, immediately becoming firm with his colleagues. He took after Calvin's stern side, while Dante was more relaxed, it just occurred to him what impact he had on his students. "Well I won't hold you hostage anymore Break and Cross, go and get acquainted with each other. Not to mention with Dante and Hunter. I expect you to wait til tomorrow to go after the witch, giving you ample time to prepare. When you leave for the mission in the morning I will follow at a distance." Calvin walked back to his desk and sat down. "I wish you all luck, and of course happy hunting.". He jotted down a quick note and handed it to Break.

"Great... Looks like I won't get to finish my nap after all..."

Cross made an irritable sound, rolling her eyes. She pushed away from the wall, standing with her arms crossed. She gave a slight flick of her arms, fingers moving in the sleeves as she manipulated the snapping buckles back together. Snugly wrapped in her straight jacket she seemed a bit more amiable. She could already tell that her and Break were destined to clash a bit. After all they seemed to be polar opposites. Of course she was constantly being told that she needed someone more level headed and firm to balance her out. For as long as she could remember that person had been her twin brother Jaxsyn. But he hadn't come to the DWMA with her so she was pretty much left to her own devices. She tilted her head back to let her hair shift back from her face and out of her eyes. When she lowered her head again her bang fell loosely back into her eyes.

"Well you heard the professor, lets get to work or whatever... If I don't get to sleep I might as well amuse myself until I can..."

Realm glanced in the direction the boy was walking and shook her head. She didn't reply to him, not to be rude, but because she had nothing left to say. He was an interesting one, though a bit cocky for her taste. She'd heard of him before though. Self-wielding weapons were always cause for gossip around the school, and so were trouble makers. Apparently, he was both.

With the crowd of students looking for missions beginning to flood in Realm slid her way out of the mass of bodies, fluidly stepping around others so as not to touch them. Once she was free of the crowd she let scanned her surroundings. Everyone was either with their partner, chatting eagerly about training or missions, or else wandering around with lost and hurt expressions, the students whose partners hadn't shown up. As the hallway filled Realm decided to make a break for the doors. She slipped outside into the courtyard. She saw three students chatting near the steps and quickly deducted that they hadn't noticed her.

She walked to the center of the courtyard, carefree as ever, and then spun on her heel. She let her head tilt back lazily so she could take in the sight of the school. It didn't look like any building she'd ever seen before. Her eyes darted around the base of the building, searching for something before she understood what she was looking for, but one her eyes settled on it she knew. She was looking for a way to climb up the building.

Force of habit.

Dante looked to Hunter with a lazy gaze nodding, Hunter was like his own subconscious saying some things he didn't feel like. As he found them pointless though it was interesting to hear outside his head. Dante would return his gaze to Cross however hearing 'Break' speak he let the words seep into his mind quickly making sense of it all. Dante remembered him he was always someone who liked to be on the professors good side, could be a teachers assistant even. Though his focus was still on Cross, he was fighting the urge to do something the school wouldn't like much at all. He focused for a moment seeing her soul which was large and had slight traces of madness while Break was very full of anti-madness wavelengths. The two being partners will result in pain for both of them, if they decide it or not. Unless Calvin was going to be used as a neutral link for them both knowing he could adapt well enough. Dante really wanted to experiment the on the girl referred to on Cross, seeing her wavelengths. He had an odd thing for souls and their wavelengths. He'd return his gaze to Break after he finally finished babbling on about the subject. "I'm sorry Mr. Break, but I believe it'll be you two that would end up slowing us down." He said in his usual daunting tone. "I don't believe you can see her as I can but you two will come across as a crutch." Dante said this coldly but otherwise he was completely right, he wasn't trying to be rude it was just how he was. He'd then look to Cross a final time before nodding to Break. "I suggest you two get started on trying to work together, you'll need it in the morning."

"All souls are adaptable Dante, I am sure they will be fine." Calvin gave a challenging smile towards him, then looked over at Cross and Break, "If I were you I would view it as a challenge." Calvin gave Break a reassuring look. His face turned serious as the taunting was growing awfully dull, "If there aren't any last minute questions," Calvin glanced around, "Go, train, I want to see a complete connection Cross and Break, as for Dante; maybe show me a something special, what can you do with Hunter. Now get out, I have the correct paperwork to fill out for this mission, you won't have to see the headmaster until the witch is dead.". At that Calvin went back to his clipboard of papers, oblivious to the students who should be leaving.

Atsoku stopped himself, he needed to analyze the situation. 'So this is where the kishin that once plagued the earth with madness was once held? It seems a little too homey for a kishin, I guess Lord Death hadn't given up entirely on his ex-friend.' He began walking down the extremely long corridor, looking at the battle worn walls. 'Now, why haven't they used this room for another purpose now that the kishin is gone?'

Atsoku reached the end of the hall, and now, in front of him were the chains that held the skin together. "A big bad kishin, and all Death did to keep him sealed in that bag were tie him up with a few chains," he laughed. "Though it looks like I won't be disturbed for a while, a nice opportunity to relax," at that he leaped atop the shrine, layed himself down, and turned up his music as loud as it could go. 'A lite nap might do me some good, all of those students really got to me today; but that girl, I'll need to keep tabs on her.'

After a while he dozed off.

It didn't take Realm long to climb to the top of the Academy. She sat on top of the center skull, her legs resting against the arch of what would be considered the frontal bone. Her arms were stretched behind her, and she leaned back on them for support. She assumed she had gone unnoticed, and used this vantage point to get a better look at the campus, as well as take in the view of Death City. She heard the distant shout of students practicing below her and glanced down every so often to watch a student swing their new weapon smoothly, or else fall on their face.

Her fingers itched to hold a weapon, and she as so very eager to start killing kishins. The beasts that took everything from her. She knew it wasn't good to keep her hate and resentment bottled inside of her, but it would have it's use. She was more than capable of controlling her inner fire, and when the time came she would wield her bitter flames against her enemies. Realm did not want to become recognized or well-known. She just wanted to avenge the only people in the world that had shown her any love and kindness.

Above her the smiling sun began to set, it's sinister face seeming to be free of any blood. Realm knew that was an appearance that would not be maintained. At long last Realm stood, not remotely afraid of losing her balance or falling. She tilted her head and studied the city, the commons, her peers. And there she stood, wondering, idly, what future this school would create for her.

After signing off on the mission, he walked with his partner to a courtyard. There he started to mentally prepare himself for the transformation. 'If she accepts me as a Star, perhaps she'll accept my weapon form. The least I can do is try.' "Alright Xen, before I show you my weapon form, I want you to promise me something. Don't rat me out about the Star Clan thing, okay?"

(So what mission did we decide on?)

"Sleepy this early?," Break observed, making his critical tone no secret from his new apparent partner. "Well why don't we see what a quick workout can do to make you feel tired? So long as we understand each other's wavelengths I can handle any fights we get into."

He motioned out the door, hoping to guide her to his favorite training spot out front. It'd keep the two of them from destroying any of the school if something went wrong. Surprisingly, that happened pretty often. As he was expected to do, he held the door opened and waited for others to pass. It was only the sign of a sound soul to be polite, after all. As he allowed her to move forward, he mentioned to the other pair that would be joining them, "Ah, then we'll see who bags the win, hmm? I'm willing to wager that Witch's soul that I could clear the mission before you even saw combat."

Glancing at the teacher's note, Break nodded in acceptance and tucked it away. He knew better than to ignore his mentor's words, especially when it was so clearly a solution he liked. He himself slipped at the door, mentioning, "Hey, Hunter and Dante. Let me know what your abilities are before we leave for the day. I would like to coordinate with everyone so we don't end up killing each other on accident. Of course, you're free to stay with Cross and I while we figure things out."

He left the room, trying to indicate that he knew where he was going to lead himself and Cross. He allowed himself some distance and began to address her personally, "So what do you know about Weapons and Meisters? I assume someone must have filled you in on what it means to be partners, but have you ever seen battle?"

"I sleep because it balances me out smarta**..."

Cross grinned her hair falling messily into her eyes. She was out the door the moment he opened it granting her a few moments of peaceful silence. She hadn't even been in the school for that long and already getting dragged into a witch hunt. She supposed it would be fine though, perhaps even a bit entertaining. The thought bought a wicked grin to her lips flashing fangs as she chuckled softly to herself. She buried her face in her collar once again breathing deeply. Tilting her head she slid her hair over her right eye, leaving the purple hued left one visible. She continued her silent self contemplation until Break caught up with her once again. As he spoke she could feel the familiar prickle of irritation in the back of her mind. She had to bite back the urge to bark a sharp retort at him and took another calming breath.

"Tch... Think before you speak... I'm a demon weapon and a experimentally created one at that... One of two might I add... I fought as both weapon and meister with the CSW: MarkI, my twin brother, for awhile before coming here... I'm not new to this so if you were planning to waste my time with pointless lectures don't... We'll do our talking as we train..."

She glanced over at him for a moment before continuing to walk. Her pace didn't change but her demeanor suggested that any further discussion before they reached where ever they were going to train was ill advised. She was still in a manic mood, so he was lucky to be getting as much cooperation as he was out of her. If he wanted them to work together he'd have to get used to her mood swings and learn how to work with or around them. She wasn't good with the pointless small talk or discussion. The only words worth saying could be said on the battlefield, or in this case the training grounds.

She looked at her partner with a reassuring look. "Don't worry about it, if you don't want others to know then I wont tell anybody about it. Just know that it's not something you can run away from Black*Star was star clan and he was one of the most successful people in the DWMA's history so it's not something to be ashamed of" She was curious what his weapon form was going to be she had a feeling it was going to be something different from the other weapons, whatever it was would do for her though. She had used many weapons before she just could never find one that she could connect with or one that didn't abandon her.

Yukina

The pink haired man had waited for his partner with no luck and was starting to worry if something had happened to her and that's why she wasn't there in time for Kid's opening speech. He had decided to wander around for a bit and noticed some people had been checking out the missions on the board. He waited for them and moved in to take a look himself... huh, there were some interesting ones here. That one with the weapons wielding each other and then the one about the Witch, it required two pairs... he was thinking about it and wondered if Ahri would be up for it. He wondered if there would be a fight for the witch's soul... of course he wanted to get the one witch soul out of the way but he didn't like the thought of making enemies over it, he'd just wait until he was a higher rank to take on the mission it was already taken anyways so he'd have to wait for the witch, He'd have to go to Ahri and discuss about the mission with the Weapons. It required stealth and they needed them alive so it would be more of a challenge that way.

Mac gave X a curious look. "I'd heard of another student from the Star Clan. But... it was Black*Star? Maybe I should go talk to him about it eventually. See if he can give me any tips. But... since you know him as Black*Star, he was never shunned from his family. I don't know if I could face him."

Shaking his head to clear his mind, Mac extended a hand. "But I gotta forget about that for now. It won't matter either way if I just suck." taking a deep breath, Mac admitted it was time to show his partner the weapon form, holding out hope that she wouldn't reject him, "Alright, r-ready for me to transform?"

"Hmmm," Break pondered, taking the time to figure out the implications of that. He wasn't going to dig deeper unless he had to, that whole Demon Weapon thing was still throwing him off. Could he really wield her and still keep in control? Break figured that none could possibly have his strong soul, so that was probably all the worrying he had to do.

Sadly, Break was awful with social cues in general. He knew what he wanted to do, and generally he did just that. So he simply chose to keep speaking as he wished to, "Action before talk then, right? Maybe we will get along after all."

He strode ahead, comfortable in the silence. Normally this moment was when his Meister wanted to learn more about him, to try to find the link that let them bridge the gap between their souls. Break would agree, of course, because true power came from that understanding. He was simply awful at it. Something about his personality just demanded to be in control, and Break was happiest when he could just direct a situation and be done with it.

Finally, they made it outside, and Break made his way to a central location free of obstacles. Without delay, he began, "Transform into your weapon form for me first, we'll see how our wavelengths interact."

(I have no idea if I'm responding twice, or if I didn't get alerts @Idyllia )

"Which mission should we do?"
He let go of her sleeve since she was following along willingly anyway. "Let's train something first, with our previous attempt I don't think we're quite ready. If we can mend our alignment slightly, you might be able to swing me around easier, and I suppose we could try and tackle a mission." Had he been on his own, he'd definitely tried getting a mission under his belt, but together.. They weren't optimized in the soul department, so neither were fighting at their best.

"Impatient I see.. Well it'll be on your head if you get hurt..."

Cross chuckled moving to the middle of the empty area. She unfastened her arms again but this time slipped the entire jacket off. Dressed in a black tanktop and a ripped raspberry shirt and shorts it was a bit more evident just how deep her eccentricity went. Her right arm was wrapped from fingertip to shoulder in bandages and her left from the hem of her shorts down to her knee high sock was bandaged as well. She unwound the bandages revealing her pale white apendages. Every joint of her body was practically ringed with stitches though the ones on her arm were less noticable because of the full sleeve tattoos that adorned either arm. She cracked her neck taking a breath before transforming. Her weapon form was the exact height as her human one, a 5'5" tall heavy weapon that in it's relaxed form simply appeared to be a massive black and wine purple metal cross.

She nodded. "Really, I don't know why you seem so nervous about it. There isn't any way that it could be that bad" she just wanted him to be able to get past this so he could gain the confidence to fight alongside her. He seemed like the smallest thing could upset him and she didn't want that.
