This roleplay will focus on a group of characters as they journey to eastern Ryke to answer the call for aid in dealing with a threat to a small village. Please include links to characters in first posts.
Setting:
Locations: Sootspire Village, Thorne Barony
Time of Day: 10:00 AM
Interactions/Mentions: AbenSur Lulidew Nero Kunivas
Thorne Barony, a quaint territory nestled in the southeast of Ryke where they make their money from the mountains and hills which provide them with ore to sell to the rest of the nation and its neighbors. As determined by the rulers of Ryke, the Thorne Barony is now part of the County of Sol which is headed by, Count Linneus Light. As such , the call for help was sent up the chain to the Count who has spared no expense and wasted no time in coming to the rescue of his people. Accompanied by his own group of soldiers, equipped with acceptable weapons and armor, Linneus had also employed several sell swords. Men and women who despite his reputation with mercenaries and adventurers, were willing to put coin over grudges.
The village of Sootspire was a small hamlet, but its infrastructure and architecture was more aligned with its mining focus, and as Linneus strode through the town atop his white stead, he examined the people and the place that he had come to save.
The people who called Sootspire home, were not by any means meager or meek. They were noticeably stocky, muscular, and many of them were taller than the average man or woman. The place they called home was once a symbol of Ryken country life and industrialism, but right now it seemed as though it were a battlefield and a cemetery.
Small corpses were scattered about, strewn through the streets and even a few properties, but none of them were humans. Goblins, and there were plenty of them making a bloody mess of the once beautiful village. Some of the bodies were riddled with stab wounds while others were crushed, missing limbs, and beaten in a way that was impossible for the average human to do.
The mayor of the village had called for help for this very reason and to accommodate his party, Linneus had rented out the rooms at one of the largest inns. He and his soldiers, along with a new member of his party arrived just a few days ago and have been trying to make sense of the situation. Now they were having their final meeting to form their battle plan and make any last minute preparations.
"The villagers describe the goblin attacks as uncoordinated and random, which means they probably lack a leader at the moment." The Count stood at the head of the table where his soldiers and the hired swords sat. They had gathered a bit of information from the civilians and were taking time to go over what they knew. "The residents also say that some goblins arrive to the village half dead, which means that they're likely fighting amongst themselves for leadership and control. All of this means that the enemy will be easy targets and this should be a fairly simple task."
The Count then gestured to a rack of weapons and armor (F Grade) that sat on the wall opposite their meeting. "If anyone is without weapons of armor, please help yourself to the gear that I have provided. Our enemy might be small and disoriented, but we should not go in unprepared. At the moment our battle plan is to move through the nearby hills as a unit, tackling threats as they appear. I want to make it clear that heroics are not necessary, the only glory to be gained here is the gratitude of the people." Linneus looked around and stared into the eyes of everyone present, even that of his own soldiers. "Are there any questions or any concerns?" He asked.
