“You know, if you just wanted a look, I could have just told you about the place.”

“Mmmhmm, and you telling us about the place would accomplish what?”

Two cloaked figures overlooked a small hill. Below was a crater so chalked full of miasma and corrosive chakra that nothing should be able to exist there. Instead, a bustling city thrived inside. At the forefront, one of the figures wearing a slightly lighter blue cloak sighed, and tossed a handful of crystals to his compatriot.

“Again, not sure why all of you needed to come out here. Did you miss me? Is that it?”

“Or, possibly it could be we’re not the most trusting of a turncoat. Excuse us if we don’t welcome you with the most open of arms.”

    “Well, did I do good?”

His apparent supervisor eyed the crystal, turning it over in her palm. “Possibly… possibly. How many did you get?”

He shrugged. “A good ten. Hey! Don’t look at me that way, they’re under suuuuper tight guard. I may have had to ‘salvage’ about three of them. And the other seven I just happen to know where they were being processed. Takes a lot of work and…. You’re not listening. Great.”

“You give me a migraine at the best of times. But yes… I suppose you did good, Inaba. If it's the real thing. Any suggestions for how we could test it out?”

“There’s a graduation ceremony happening today. I have family in it, and I’m oh so proud of them.”

“Hmm. Let me mark an escape right here, and we’ll be on our way..”

“You know, if you really didn’t trust me, you wouldn’t tell me these things. I got it, you’re falling for me!”

A resounding ‘thwack’ echoed in the hills as the female in the darker cloak started her way down. The male rubbed a goose egg on his head and smiled. “Someone forgot to mark the area… Hmmm… nah.” He shrugged and followed along behind, both of them seemingly disappearing in a shower of bubbles.

Down below, a celebratory ceremony began with confetti raining down and an older ninja nodding his head at the group of genin below. He walked with a cane but had a gaze that could freeze fire. He walked up to the podium before slamming his cane down. Looking at each and every one of them until quietness had at least taken over the group.

“You’ve done well so far. Each and every one of you has done well to make this far. I expected no less from any. You have all met my expectations. I’m light on praise and high on expectations, but, well, suppose it wouldn’t hurt to say I’m proud of you. You’re a good batch. The village needs you, and I’m somewhat relieved that you’re the next generation. Hopefully, you can avoid the mistakes my generation has made.

From today forward, you’re genin. I am no longer Jikan Sensei to all of you. Simply Jikan will do if you ever wish perhaps to buy your old academy teacher lunch. Your senseis will new assigned as follows:

Kurio, Ajisai, Tsubaki, you are assigned under the Jonin known as Ichiro… Good luck.

Sachiko, Wakanake, Shioreta, you are assigned under the Jonin, Miho Shimamura.

Ryuuka, Aya, Shibata, you are assigned under the Jonin, Hayate Yamamoto.

Now, we have a surprise guest, the Tsumikage herself who wishes to speak to you.“

A woman in a flowing purple kimono stepped up from behind Jikan, surveying the assembled genin with soft eyes and a gentle smile. “I would offer you congratulations of my own, though I fear it may pale in comparison to earning the old man’s praise.” The Tsumikage chuckled, continuing with a playful lilt to her voice. “But as he said, you’ve all done well to come this far. You’ve all started on the difficult path of the shinobi, the challenges to come with dwarf what you met in the academy.

You won’t be alone in this. Learn to lean on your teammates, support each other and grow together. I hope to see each of you among my jounin council down the road from here. Until that day, learn from your sensei and the missions ahead of you. Jikan, if you would.”

Jikan stepped forward, and motioned to a collection of trees where three jonin seemingly just appeared out of nowhere.

“Now, to meet your new senseis! I present to you, Ichiro, Hayate, and Miho! Please meet with them, you’ll be beginning your journeys as genin tomorrow.”

Walking up to his three genin, a man without a shirt prowled, his eyes shifting among the various students there. He had a rather powerful build, and was covered in scars, but looked more like a wild animal than a man. It was how he got the title that their sensei Jikan had abstained from using “Ichiro, the Feral”.

“Kurio, Ajisai, Tsubaki, get your asses out here. I’m your sensei. Name’s Ichiro. Our first mission’s tomorrow morning. We’re doing something stupid. Yeah, I’m a terrible sensei, get used to it. Least ya’ll don’t have to worry looking bad. Mission’s stealing some seeds and grain and something or other. Meeting at the western Crater Edge tomorrow at 9:45. Here one of you responsible types take the scroll, I don’t want it.”

With that, he tossed the mission scroll at Ajisai, and crossed his arms.

“You each get one free question. Go on. Use it. Humor me. Oh, and introduce yourselves… I guess

Another jounin leaned back against one of the trees, his posture seemed far more relaxed than the other two were. “Ryuuka, Aya, Shibata, come over here.” Shibata would easily recognize Hayate, but he still called his name regardless. Dressed in black and teal robes decorated in gold trim, it was difficult to get a good idea of his build beneath the loose fabric.

“I’m Hayate Yamamoto, your sensei for the next…” He thought for a moment, rubbing the back of his neck, “well, awhile. We’ve got our first mission already, we’ll be meeting at the entrance to the mines at 0530. Need to get there before the miners do.” Hayate produced a thin scroll from one of his pouches. “I’ll be honest, probably one of the strangest missions I’ve ever been given. Chasing down a glowing spider in the mines. Hopefully the Kounna didn’t accidentally squish it already…

He cleared his throat, looking over the trio in front of him. “Now then, I’ve already read your files, but let’s make it official. Introduce yourselves.” In his excitement, or perhaps nervousness, Hayate had neglected to give much more than his own name.

    Oh well.

The final jonin was somewhat unprepossessing compared to her peers, being a slender, mousy haired woman in tan slacks and a baggy, blue sweater, although admittedly the many knives and pouches strapped over the top of her civilian clothes did add an element of flair to her appearance.

Miho Shimamura, the female jonin, pulled a cigarette from her pouch, put in in her mouth and lit it before tilting her head up to inhale a deep puff while she massaged her temples with her now free hands. Apparently those last few shots had been a mistake, or maybe it was just that she felt like shit every time she was up past ten p.m these days? Was she really getting that old?

“A’right. Fuck. You three.” Miho said, after exhaling a long plume of acrid smoke and singling out Sachiko Kounna, Wakanaka Tsube and Shioreta Koino with jabbing fingers. “You’re with me, cmon, introduce yourselves while we work, I wanna know what I’ve gotten myself into,”

    Arc 2 Start
  • The office of the Tsumikage was a sparsely decorated space. Function over form had been the motto of their kage since the village’s founding. And it showed in the office’s lack of luxuries. A simple stone floor made from leftovers in the quarry, plain plaster walls adorned with maps in lieu of artwork. The only thing that stood out was the desk. Made from fine ebony, it clashed with the simple chairs set around it. A gift from the Arashikage to the Second Tsumikage in celebration of the alliance between their villages.

Beyond the handful of reports scattered about her desk at any given moment, Ema was keen to keep her office spotless. Unlike her predecessor. She could remember stepping into this office as a jounin and finding the Third Tsumikage all but consumed in a mountain of papers. She set a file aside with a content hum, “The genin are all improving quickly this year.” At this rate, they might be able to send all three teams to the Chuunin Exams.

She reached for a cup of tea that sat on her desk, spiced chai thick with milk. It was a guilty pleasure of hers. Taking a slow sip, Ema cast a quick glance towards a darkened corner of her office, “Rin, welcome back, what do you have to report?”

A lithe man emerged from the shadows, his dark clothes and porcelain mask designating him a member of ANBU. Rin gave a slight bow, “Bishamonten’s members have not been seen interfering with any of the Five Great Villages in the last few weeks. However, a duo was sighted two nights ago fleeing Inochigakure. The same two responsible for the incident during the graduation ceremony.”

“Is that so?” A faint frown crossed Ema’s features. “Were you able to learn what their goal was?”

Rin nodded, though hesitated slightly. “They were able to steal Juuchi Fuyu.”

The Tsumikage straightened, “Nobuyuki Hanamoto’s sword?” The weapon was as infamous as the man that wielded it.

    “Yes, my lady.”

Silence crept into the office like an oppressive weight. It was several, long moments before Ema spoke again. “What… direction were they headed?”

“Towards the southeast, according to our sources.”

“Send warning to Kabegakure at once!” It was rare for the Tsumikage to raise her voice, eliciting a flinch from Rin. He opted not to say anything, merely giving a short nod before vanishing in a cloud of smoke. Ema leaned back and took a slow breath, focusing on the calming scent of smoldering incense. Kabegakure was considered impenetrable, but so was Tsumigakure.

“The man who would cut the world… what use do you have for the likes of him?”

  • THE CHUNNIN EXAMS! PT 1!

The Land of Lightning, Arashigakure, was aptly named. In the distance, flashes of light danced in the sky, and constant booms of thunder shook the earth. As the group would enter the valley the exams were to take place in, the pressure continued to drop, on the verge of rain, but never a drop fell. Hair stood on end, and goosebumps were a plenty.

The road lead down a chasm, with a large opening in the center. In the middle, what seemed to be a monk sat, waiting, motioning a hand to 'shut up' for everyone, his eyes constantly scanning. He wore the headband for Arashigakure, and a staff was held in one hand, and a clipboard in the other.

"Is this all for the chunnin exams? I am Rokuro Orochi, and I am not your proctor. But I will be taking you to her shortly. Gather round, gather round. This is the part I tell you to steel yourself. The exams are tough. You will face failures. You will face obstacles. You are probably not ready... but what we do when we are unprepared is what makes us ninja. And a good ninja will persevere. A bad one will die. Those of you who do not feel adequately steeled may leave. Those that are, step around. Now, if you are leaving back to your own lands, remember, lightning is concentrated closest to our village. Wander away from it to see the sun to get your bearings."

All around the group, they would see ninja from Hanegakure, Inoichigakure, and a few from Arashigakure itself. The Inoichi nin looked smugly at the Tsumi nin, flashing threats every so often.

As a circle gathered around Rokuro, he toughed his staff to the ground, a scroll began to spiral out of the center, wrapping around each and every one of them as ink began to glow from it... and a moment later, they would feel like they were in an elevator moving quickly. The scenery around them blurred, before the elevator stopped suddenly, the ground around them different. Rokuro was no longer in their midst.

Now, now they were atop a large mountain, mist hovering around the area, and only allowing the tips of other mountains in view.

"There are our future chunnin! Sweet, looks like we got lots of fresh meat! I'm you're proctor! Aito Ukita. Hope ya'll are ready!"

Walking up from a long winding road, which extended to the base of the mountain, a kunoichi could be seen, almost hovering with each step, 5 blades floating behind her like a set of wings. Behind her, Arashigakure's lightning blitzed heavily.

"The exams is simple. First 32 ninja to make it back to Arashigakure with the scroll's we're about to pass out, are able to participate in the fighting section. The rest... lose. Now, I don't expect 32 to make it in the time limit. Oh, yeah, there's a time limit. We're starting the next section in 3 days. You must arrive there as a team. Now, before people start accusing us of being unfair, this right here is the ANBU training grounds, none of our genin are ever out here, or know where 'here' is. Now, as for why this the ANBU training grounds..."

Aito kept walking forward, motioning to a very sudden chasm, a sheer drop off. However, large rock outcroppings could be seen within distance of the cliff, spirals of stone that were level with the side of the mountain that continued on into the distance. A pathway of stone.

"Those rock pillars are famed for repelling chakra... Chiyome, a demonstration if you wouldn't mind."

An Arashigakure genin pointed to herself as if to say 'who me?', while looking confused.

"Yup, let her rip, hit that stone column with anything!"

She shrugged, before pulling out a shakujō. Aiming at the pillar, she shot a beast of lightning at it... only for the lightning to be dispelled.

"This includes tree climbing jutsu, so you can see why ANBU use it to train. Though, Hane nin, don't think you have it easy, this iiiis a lightning area. I wouldn't climb any higher than these rock pillars to be safe. Course, you think you're tougher than mother nature, feel free to test it out. "

Scrolls started to float out the air, landing next to each of the teams.

"Now, these scrolls are what you can use to get into the next part of the exam. You cannot proceed without them. So, one way to ensure other teams don't take your spot is..." She smiled mischievously. "Also, each additional scroll you get, you can use as a bye in the upcoming tournament. You guys got any questions, go ahead an ask, but, well, first 32, and... time's ticking."

A few teams instantly took off across the rocky pillars.

  • A Deadly Finale
Despite the lightning having all but vanished over the course of the finals, a sudden, deafening boom of thunder shook the arena. Waves of purple plasma cut through the clouds, covering everything in an eerie glow for several long seconds. Left in its wake was a perfectly clear blue sky.

Confused and panicked murmurs quickly began to fill the still air.

“Mommy, mommy, look at the sky!” A young girl shook her mother’s shoulder, pointing at the sky. “It’s so bright! Is that the sun?”

“Is this your doing, Minamoto!?” One of the noblemen turned to another, pointing his fan at him.

“How dare you!” Roared the accused.

“I thought you were joking when you said you could undo Lord Jin’s jutsu!” A panicked chuunin cried.

    “I was!!” Squeaked another.

The sounds of confusion only grew as a gentle shower of feathers began to fall from the clear sky. The illusion quickly pulled civilians, most genin, and a handful of chuunin into a deep slumber.

    Temple of Nirvana

The feathers began converging at the center of the arena, swirling together before scattering, revealing a lone cloaked figure. The hood of his dark blue cloak obscured his face. An elaborate design of gold embroidery covered the cloak’s back, magatama decorating the hem.

“Seems we’re about to get a lot more than just the corner pieces, Kamiya,” Hayate murmured to the jounin beside him as he crossed his arms.

    Kamiya nodded.

The cloaked figure gave a grand, sweeping bow, “my most esteemed kage.”

A dozen nin leapt from the stands, weapons drawn as they dove for him.

“Oh, dear.” The man sighed, “Mizuki, if you would be so kind.”

A pop could be heard as a cloaked figure apparated in the air, a bubble forming and popping around her.

"Still not a combat specialist!" She complained as a dozen bubbles formed in front of the charging nin. A few disappeared into the bubbles. A few weapons and jutsu thrown in reappeared, redirected at the attackers.

She had her cloak drawn tight, though Ema could still feel her chakra.

The first shrugged, “Perhaps not. But-- Hm?” The hood of his cloak twitched slightly. More nin had entered the arena. He sighed, “Were your comrades not example enough?” He held his clawed hands in front of him, lightning crackling from his fingers. The sparks and arcs remained suspended in the air, spreading into elaborate patterns.

    OQyoOHx.png

Chains shot out of the centers of the circles and into bubbles that had appeared in front of him. Another pair of bubbles formed by nin in the middle of handsigns. The chains coiled around them, dragging the panicked nin into the sealing patterns in the air.

In the stands, Kamiya crossed her arms. “Any ideas on those bubbles, ponytail?”

Hayate huffed at the nickname, though didn’t take his eyes off the arena. “My guess is they’re linked with some kind of space-time jutsu. Each one probably has to be linked to a second.”

“Like that weird mirror crap of yours?”

“That saved your ass from that akuma?” He muttered with a frown, “yes.”

“Now,” the cloaked man looked around at the remaining nin, “would anyone else care to play hero?”

As if in response, a bolt of lightning struck the arena, all four kage now standing before him. The remaining nin fell back with a wave of the Arashikage’s hand.

Ema studied the pair with a frown, “So Bishamonten finally shows itself.”

He chuckled, “Indeed. Here to declare war on the Originators that threaten the very fabric of our reality.”

As he spoke, a pop sounded. The cloaked woman that had been floating in the air vanishing from sight once more.

Ochada, the Hanekage, scoffed. “A lunatic claiming to be a god… Who are you really?” He rubbed his tired eyes before clapping his hands together. A massive gale of wind tore through the arena, effortlessly knocking away the hood of the man’s cloak.

A pale face framed by equally pale hair. Large ears sat atop his head like a fox, alert and pivoting at new sounds. Dark crimson markings etched their way across his face and the backs of his hands. Despite not having a single wrinkle, his golden eyes seemed old and world-weary.

“Katsuhito Okabe,” Jin’s voice was quiet, even in the field of battle.

“That the feared Raiju knows my name,” Katsuhito chuckled and bowed slightly. “I should feel honored.”

Ochada scoffed, forming a handsign before slamming his palm on the ground. A massive hawk appeared beneath him in a cloud of smoke. “You’ve caused more than enough trouble with the incident in Kabegakure. I have little desire to stand around and talk with a mongrel.” With a beat of its massive wings, the hawk was airborne. A salvo of sharp feathers rained down on Katsuhito.

“A mongrel am I?” Katsuhito sighed, the markings on his face and hands glowing green as his cloak billowed. No longer hidden by the dark fabric, six tails could be seen. Each covered in soft, snow white fur. A blue flame glowed at the tip of one.

The earth rumbled, shaking the entire arena as a tree burst from the ground to intercept the incoming feathers. Several more trees and roots followed, rapidly twisting around and growing through the entire stadium and shattering the barrier meant for the exams. The earthbound kage were forced to evade the entangling roots. The Hanekage found his mobility hampered by the sudden canopy.

Wood Release: Nativity of a World of Trees

“I had intended to merely speak peacefully,” Katsuhito’s golden eyes narrowed up at Ochada as he spoke. “Even going so far as to ensure your precious nobility wouldn’t overhear and cause a fuss. But if this is what you desire,” he formed a handsign and three clones emerged from his body. They shared the same number of tails as the original, but his elaborate cloak was noticeably missing. Another handsign and a thick mist flooded the arena, obscuring everything from view.

Jin’s dragon head continued to bob as he looked around, trying in vain to see through the heavy fog. A soft hum emanated from his body as caltrops emerged from his sleeves and began floating around him. His fingers twitched as the mist began to lighten.

Katsuhito and his clones surrounded him. Three of them flying through different hand seals.

The caltrops flew out at them. With a single handsign, Jin rained bolts of lightning down on the rogue and his clones. Blinding light and deafening thunder filled the forested arena.

When the smoke cleared, the cloaked Katsuhito and a clone lay crumpled and twitching off to one side. To his other side, a third had collapsed. His clothes smoldered as lichtenberg scars covered his body. The fourth had been brought to his knees, though a massive ogre-like figure stood over him looking like it had taken the brunt of the attack.

The clones had to have been powerful to be able to withstand such an assault without dissipating.

The kneeling clone had his palm pressed to the smoldering tree he knelt on. He summoned a large weasel wreathed in wind. A kamaitachi.

Lightning beasts leapt from Jin’s shadow and raced up the tree towards it.

The kamaitachi shot away, leading most of the pack away as it ran. Wind trailed after it as it sprinted the perimeter of the arena, clearing the mist from view.

Jin blinked. His head whipped around as he looked at what had been Katsuhito and the clones just seconds ago.

The other three kage were now in their place.

    Demonic Illusion: Fog of War

“Damn kitsune,” Yukari, the Inochikage, spat as she stood. She supported her weight against her staff, still recovering from Jin’s attack. “How the hell did he get Wood Release though?” The Kekkei Genkai had been thought to solely belong to Inochigakure’s shinobi.

“Sango,” came the Arashikage’s quiet reply. The village was infamous for its theft of techniques and kekkei genkai were no exception.

She clucked her tongue in response.

Ema had managed to stand as well. Dark eyes now carmine as seething chakra hissed around her form.

“Ho, your title of Raiju is well earned indeed,” Katsuhito smirked at Jin. His markings now glowed bright orange as a large globe of lava floated between his hands. A flame smoldered on a different tail now. As the lava cooled, a stream of purple and black butterflies began to fly around him.

The moment the last of the lava cooled, the butterflies shot towards the kage in a deadly black wave. The razor sharp obsidian effortlessly sliced through any tree in its path.

    Lava Release: Obsidian Butterflies

“Multiple Kekkei Genkai?” A ninja having multiple, even one from Sangogakure, was unheard of. Ema leapt forward as her cloak condensed around her arms and hands. She swung at the incoming cloud, large hands of chakra smashing the butterflies and scattering shards of obsidian along the ground. What ones she had missed left rivulets of crimson running down her arms.

Lightning beasts crashed into the few that made it to Jin, shattering them.

Yukari remained motionless, even as the butterflies cut into her. The Inochikage’s wounds began knitting themselves closed.

    Sage’s Balm

“Tch,” Katsuhito scowled as the kage began to regroup. He had hoped tricking them into attacking one another would have slowed them down more. He let out a slow breath, the markings changed to an icy blue as the temperature around him plummeted. Frost began spreading out beneath his feet.

Wounds mended, Yukari’s chakra flared as she took off on all fours towards Katsuhito. A forked tail formed and wisps of chakra trailed off her body. The Inochikage stuck to the trees as she moved to avoid the shards of obsidian on the ground.

Sage Transformation: Form of the Nekomata

Ema finished a series of handsigns and drew a deep breath. A large ball of flame flew at the rogue, taking on the shape of a dragon’s head. Several more followed after.

    Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire

An explosion of steam erupted as the first dragon struck near where Katsuhito had been standing. He continued to leap away from the barrage.

Sharp claws tore into his back as Yukari slammed into him. She hissed as frostbite turned her hands red but pressed the assault. Claws enhanced with sage chakra easily carved through the ice spreading along Katsuhito’s body. He coughed with a grimace, thick smoke was making it hard to breathe.

Katsuhito tried to jump away but Yukari proved faster, closing the gap every time. Taijutsu was far from his strong suit.

Another dragon slammed into a nearby tree, cutting off his escape route once more. Thunder rumbled overhead as the sky darkened once more.

Hearing the thunder and feeling the familiar drop in pressure, Jin raised a hand skyward and fired a burst of lightning.

Katsuhito’s eyes widened, his skin beginning to turn to stone near the wounds left by the Inochikage. A short series of handsigns. The tree they stood on began to grow once more, coiling around Yukari and binding her in place.

    Demonic Illusion: Tree Binding Death

Frost rapidly spread out from beneath Katsuhito, snow forming in the air around him. A cracking sound could be heard as he opened his hand to grab Yukari. The sheer cold swiftly caused flesh to blister and darken beneath his touch.

Golden eyes flickered towards the Arashikage as sky-bound lightning left his palm. “Tch.” Whatever jutsu Jin was planning, he couldn’t afford to let him finish it. His markings faded from blue back to red as the temperature around him stabilized. Lightning wreathed his own body as he shot towards the Arashikage in a blur.

Lightning began forming in front of one of his hands as he charged, arcs spreading out into another circle.

    9rHJ58U.png

The dragon hat stopped bobbing and faced Katsuhito at the sudden charge. A beam of plasma erupted from it and shot at the rogue. The sealing circle glowed, expelling the pair of shinobi from before in the path of the attack.

Screams briefly resounded from the Arashi nin before they fell to the ground, charred.

“That was a bit closer than I like.” Now in front of the Arashikage, Katsuhito struck at him with glowing claws. Two of his tails had vanished.

Jin winced and leapt back, his hat now slumped over and motionless. Seals began spreading across his body from the wound. A lightning beast leapt from his shadow and slammed into Katsuhito, sending him tumbling away.

Jin formed another handsign, blinking as nothing happened.

“Can’t have you calling down any more lightning.” Katsuhito coughed, getting back to his feet.

An arm of seething chakra slammed into him, sending the kitsune flying back into the obsidian covered ground. A seal hidden beneath the debris erupted in a dome of lightning. A trap left earlier by Jin.

    Lightning Release: Faraday Shield

Katsuhito twitched, fighting to regain control of spasming muscles as he forced himself to stand. His body was nearing its limit it seemed. The markings on his body glowed bright orange once again as Ema and Yukari dove for him.

Lava erupted from the ground, massive waves forcing them back. Unable to call on his chakra, Jin struggled to retreat. His flesh burned as Ema seized him with the arm of her chakra cloak and yanked him back. He nodded his thanks. Burns from akuma chakra were preferable to the certain death the lava would have been.

Katsuhito violently coughed as the glow faded, blood splattering on the ground at his feet. “I will . . . stop the akuma.” He held out his hands, black and white chakra gathering in each palm. He grimaced as taxed chakra points began to erupt. “Even if I have to level every village to do it.”

Bleary golden eyes looked up as a roar shook the trees. A massive white dragon dove for him. The infamous akuma Kiyohime.

His knees buckled as the akuma bombs flew from his hands. Though instead of striking the obsidian covered earth, a bubble awaited him. Kastuhito vanished as his jutsu detonated in a devastating explosion.

While the chuunin exams had been completed, the event quickly became the furthest thing from everyone’s mind in the wake of Bishamonten’s attack. Kaminari, the ancient akuma of lightning, had rampaged as the kage battled the group’s leader Katsuhito. Almost the entirety of Arashigakure had been leveled in its fury at millennia of imprisonment.

One of the few places left standing had been the arena where the finals took place. Ema had barely managed to contain Katsuhito’s final attack, though the effort left her gravely wounded. It’s a week before she’s taken back to Tsumigakure and another still before she awakens.

While Jin had been the least injured in the battle, the destruction of his village and his own sound defeat weighed heavily on the Raiju.

It’s a month and a half before the Tsumi genin learn that they’re genin no more. All of them had been promoted to chuunin.

The road ahead is uncertain as Bishamonten grows unnervingly silent. Only time will tell what challenges await the freshly minted chuunin. It would be wise to use the lull in the storm to prepare in whatever ways they can.
