Now, I might be about to sound strange because I'm not sure if they were widespread... But does anyone recall the Rainbow Magic Fairies books?
In short, they were middle-grade chapter books about two girls who rescued magic items from Goblins, run by Jack Frost, so that they could return them to the fairies, who they had befriended.
