The nicotine certainly helped calm Cain down, though as he stood out there smoking, he realized he should have brought one of those expensive liquor bottles out with him. Thinking about the liquor bottles made him think about Kaya, though, and how homey she'd looked making drinks over there with fuckface mcgee. His anger boiled again, and he was halfway back to the door to go beat the fuckers face in before he realized what he was doing. Taking a deep drag off the cigarette, he backed away from the door, spinning around again and putting his back to it. He wasn't the type to back down from a fight, and more often than not, he initiated them. Whether he won or not, he always made sure to get some good hits in before going down himself.
How the hell was this supposed to work? How could he and Kaya win that money if they couldn't even make a relationship work? Groaning, he lifted his free arm to rest against one of the pillars, leaning his forehead on his arm. The cigarette burned slowly in his other hand, and he didn't move when he heard the door sliding open. "Nope." He responded to Kaya's question, pulling his head off his arm to inhale from the cigarette again. Afterwards, he tossed it to the side, letting it burn in the grass as he left the porch. The yard was huge, but it still wasn't big enough for him to run. After all, that's how he solved all his problems. Running. He ran from everything; it was something he and his little brother had in common. Abe had run from Olivia, and he'd run from Kaya.
But he couldn't leave this place, and that only infuriated him further. He headed for the pool, staring down into the water at his rippled reflection. He wasn't suicidal, but he'd be lying if he hadn't thought about jumping in and holding onto a cement block. Only for a second. Plopping down on the edge, he crossed his legs, resting his arms on his knees. He didn't even know if Kaya had followed him, or was going to, but he just knew he couldn't go back in there. Even though he didn't want to admit it, part of him was embarrassed. Not really at how he acted, because he'd certainly acted worse around people he actually gave a shit about. His embarrassment stemmed from the way that he couldn't control his feelings, mostly about the girl he still had feelings for. As much as he wanted to pretend he didn't, it was stupid of him to do so.
