Is there any real solution to stopping these annoying bot accounts? I've seen these types of posts about six times already.

The best solution is to report, report, report. We have several measures in place already against bots, but some are bound to slip through.

Bot accounts appear like normal accounts, but they are only there to post spam.

They place links to advertisements in their posts, and as the name suggests, sometimes they lead to scams.

We generally take them down before too many people see them, so...

They're in the pits of forum hell, of course.

Try showing up somewhere around 2:00 A.M. E.S.T. That's the time I've noticed these generally popping up.

I saw one quite recently. Those shitbags behind those false accounts need to be locked up. In Gitmo. They are sleazy no good people that deserve that fate for bringing down forums. I saw a few forums get shut down after being swarmed by these no life shits who run bots.

Like the other staff have said already, if you see one just report it.

It'll take us like 2 secs to flag the account and delete all their spammy threads. If people report the ones that we miss, there's no need to worry about our site dying or being taken over by spam bots or anything.

I'm assuming the notifications I got for threads in the Introduction and Question boards with links to something about weight burning (I think) was a bot?
