Realistic or Modern Soldier Coming Home

In the midst of watching a few war movies I’ve become obsessed with what it must feel like to come home from war, not just participate in it. Knowing that, I have an outline for an RP where a soldier shares dispatch with his lover just before he comes home and she expresses concern for his mental state when he comes home. I need a female counterpart to play the “lady at home” yet I think there is a lot of room for originality in playing out what happens when the soldier comes home.
