Social Butterfly...

Did someone say...Mega-mantis!?
Behold:

1. Find praying mantis.

2. Use Spirit-Tied Pet on mantis.

3. Use Bestial Traits Technique on mantis.

4. Use Soul-Enlightening Beneficence on mantis.

5. Teach mantis First Pulse Style.

6. Watch as Mega-mantis hops out of your pocket and, in one swift motion, breaks an ambushing ninja's spine
!
so, ripping this Idea off and running with it, I introduce ... SOCIAL BUTTERFLY!

Behold:

1. Find Butterfly.

2. Use Spirit-Tied Pet on Butterfly.

3. Use Bestial Traits Technique on Butterfly.

4. Use Soul-Enlightening Beneficence on Butterfly.

5. Teach Butterfly Five-fold Shadow Hand Style.

6. Watch as Social Butterfly, detatches from the butterfly pattern on your clothes, force-feeds that imperial assassin his own lungs and transforms into an exact replica of you as you flee to safety!

the most horribly stupid thing is the one flaw in this plan is that Butterflies don't have fingers!

How would you do this?

ps, if you don't get the title, Educate yourself!

6. Watch as your butterfly attacks and due to using the style it is using finds that any half-way competent characters sees straight through most of their techniques, and is quickly rendered into goo. Also, lacking hands, is incapable of using a single technique from the style, and so dies.

Perhaps a little Wyld mutation can get your butterfly hands, and so get around the hand limitation, but it won't get around the limitations directly in the charms of the style. Also, your Butterfly still needs to actually gain the XP to learn all those charms, and if it is able to pay such, also needs to pay off the XP debt from your training charms, further delaying mastery. Frankly, less useful than teaching your Wyld mutated Ape who is mysteriously named Donkey Kong either Terrestrial Hero Style, Terrible Ascent Driven Beast Style or Jade Mountain Style...but still even that suffers many of the penalties training the butterfly suffers.

And, really, either way, you're better off just using Imbue Amalgam on your pets. Note that as written, nothing prevents you from granting Amalgams Celestial Martial Arts.

I did mention the hand/finger thing :)

and yes, as a terrestrial style five fold hand style is fairly weak but I founf the coat rack thing amusing.

didn't know that if you use charms to buff up your pet it needs to pay experience though, should have, didn't.

to be honest the reason I picked a butterfly was because it seemed to suit the character, plus my character's going to be tiger training/enlightening lots of mortals anyway as her goal is to help the red piss legion actually BEAT jurgen kaneko, the giant ponce, so I thought the Mega-Mantis recipe would be fun to try out with a few tweaks. Imbue Amalgam is fun and easy, provided you can learn the spell and don't mind your new servant looking obviously mechanical (although a butterfly hair clip would work just as well, plus built in flamethrowers)

If i can get the spell I might do that to make the butterfly into a bodyguard, I could imagine a butterfly pulling off Dreaming Pearl Courtesan style well (fluttering alluringly, telekinetic prop manipulation, mind control, teleportation and then suddenly turning into a Giant Space Giraffe)

besides, my character's going to be training a lot before this (hopefully cinematic timing will occur and I won't arrive with backup just in time to see Kaneko executing the Roseblack)

besides, it's not just apes that can learn jade mountain style (has horrible images of the results of the form charm as activated by a small insect)

Edit:

oh awesome, Imbue amalgam can give Charms you don't know to your creation. unfortunately it's a second circle spell.

hmm, does that follow the same restrictions as eclipse castes in what spells can be emulated? could an amalgam be imbued with Lunar shifting knacks?

I think it's from scroll of the monk (if not that charm works too), it allows you to give a mortal their own essence rating

Knacks are not Charms and as such cannot be taught. It'z da rulz.

Though I believe that SMAs are still available. Spider Amalgam with Charcoal March of Spiders.

..............

Though any Charms or Abilities you do not possess must be known by someone present at the casting, even if they are incapacitated, mind-fucked or unwilling.

oh, ok (took me a while to realise what you were goin on about lol)

I'm dabbling with forgetting the martial arts and teaching my butterfly terrestrial circle sorcery instead (though passing the stations might be tricky, what can a butterfly sacrifice?), I personally find the idea of an actual butterfly casting storm of obsidian butterflies (or whatever it's called)

enemy1: hey, uh, what's that butterfly doing?

enemy2: doing? what doing? itt's a butter-OH SHIT!, SHAPE SORCERY ACTION! *dives for cover*
