Slippery Scales of Decipet

He looked away, "It's not that." He murmmered, but he coudlnt' tell her the real reason. Not if he wanted to live. Not if he wanted to stay alive.

"Then what is it?" Emma asked. Whether or not he was willing to tell her, she wanted to know. Her trust in this man was quickly diminishing the longer he avoided the issue.

He looked down and eventually, after a long while, he gave into it, "I odn't want to kill anything! I barely could even care about killing a snake in the entirety! I was probably going ot feel guilty! And to think I have ot kill a slime is... is..." He whimpered.

Emma let him get what he needed out of his system, and waited for several moments afterwards to see if there was anything else before speaking again "I see. But what about your father? You know, the one who sent you to kill a monster in the first place?"

"I know!" He curled up on the bed, worried she'd kill him. If he wasn't going to... Then she had no reason to keep him alive. He groaned, "I... I don't know. I had no clue what I was going to do! I-I... I don't know... I'd chicken out the moment when I was about to kill it!"

Emma couldn't help but laugh a little bit "You're a lot softer than I originally thought. Perhaps trying to teach you to fight is meaningless, if you can't use it." She said, thinking about the situation "And you can't go home or your father will probably kill you for being such a coward. At least, I assume, you know your father better than I do."

"Yeah... my father might... he might not even want me to be there. he'll either banish me or kill me... I don't know what he'll really do..." He hid his face in his hands, "I'm sorry emma... if you're going to eat and kill me... just go ahead..."

"I'll think about it." Emma replied, patting her hand on her stomach "Remember, I just ate yesterday. I'm not going to be hungry again for at least another day or two. And overfilling is not a feeling I want to have for the next several days."

He looked into her stomach and he looked down to the bed, hiding underneath the bed, hoping that wasn't going to make her go faster. He sighed, "Okay, okay i'm sorry, I'll just stay here."

"What's with you? Just a few moments ago, you weren't this afraid of me. Now look at you, cowering under the bed like that." Emma said, shaking her head "Nothing's really changed, after all. You're just not going to do your test, and we'll probably stop the whole training thing as well since it's practically useless."

He looked up from the bed nad he looked down, "Because I'll get killed by you now! You said you'd eat me if I failed! And now that there is not test I shoudln't even be alive!" He shivered and refused to get out.

"And in your fearful state, you seem to have overlooked something. I'll let you try and figure out what it is, but I get the feeling I'm going to have to spell it out for you..." Emma replied, sighing.

He blinked and pulled himself out from under the bed, leaning against the bed nad raising an eyebrow, "What... what is this? I don't... I don't get what you're saying."

"And there it is. Think for a moment. Specifically, to earlier in this very conversation. I really hope you'll be able to see it, otherwise I'm pretty sure you're a coward and thick." Emma said, leaning back against the wall while she waited for him to either figure it out or ask her to tell him.

He still wasn't sure what to do at the moment. He thought for a long while, looking ot her, "I... I don't ge tit. What am I missing here?" He laid down on the bed.

"Alright, let me help you along, then. You told me that, if I was going to eat and kill you, that I should just go ahead." Emma explained, gesturing with both hands to Aaron "Do you remember what I said in response to that?"

"You said that I overlooked something important in this equation." He looked to her agian, cocking his head, "I don't understand, you're going ot have to spell this out for me or I'm going to look like a complete idiot."

Emma sighed "I said I'd think about whether or not I'd eat you. See, your fear of me is coming from you having convinced yourself that I'm going to eat you. When the truth is, I don't even know, myself, if I'm going to do so." She explained to him "So, technically, your complete fear is unfounded."

"What is making you actually think about it?" He blinked, "I mean, tell me, what's seperating me from the other humans you've... obviously eaten before?"

"I'm not entirely sure, that's why I need time to think about it." Emma told him "My best guess would be your personality compared to theirs, but I'm not 100% on that. All you really need to know is for all intents and purposes, at least for right now, you're in the safe zone."

He nodded, "Well... thank you for that?" He want's ure if that was the right reaction, but he was still, for the most part, worried for his saftey. he hoped that, in some way, he could help save his life and looked down.

Emma nodded back "Now, go ahead and eat up. Since I'm not training you anymore, we have that much more time out of the day to do... What is it that Humans like to do in their free time, anyway?" She asked, realizing that she'd never actually thought about this before.

He looked at her, "Some men train, some read, some try to build stuff, other... do things with the ones who they love." he blushed, "I was goign to help you set up the rest of your cave... and maybe go back over to the village."

"Alright, well, let me know when you're ready, and we'll set the rest of this stuff up." Emma told him, heading over to the table and tossing him another fruit.

"Let's just start right now, it'll be nice and useful." He walked over to the cart and pulled out some of the other articles. He set up the chair in the corner.
