In the Kingdom of Kawlii is the human capital of Dunwel, home to Kawlii academy which is responsible for training magic knights. Seven factions of spellswords, the best men and women of Kawlii in service to humanity and the king...
The Golden Winds, The Blue Dragons, The Black fangs, the Red Rocs, The Crystal snakes, The Starlight swords and of course, The phantom blades.

King Leot was holding a meeting with each captain and a few other important figures from about the Kingdom. The topic being The blood Witch and her invasion of Funanna...
The discussion lasted for three hours with most in the room unable to disagree with the king.
"we must ready Kawlii for war, she aims to rule all life"
"If we surrender she will take lives regardless..."
" we must find some way to defend our lands"

With the king assured he had the majority behind him, Leot asked for his magic knights to invade Fuanna. Destroy the blood witch.

A outrageous demand even from the king, essentially telling his spellswords to march off towards certain death. None spoke except for one man, captain of the phantom blades Waboe Shrouda let his voice pierce the silence.
20210923_162335.jpg
"Keep the army here and protect kawlii. I shall lead the blades into Fuanna with any spellswords and swordbreakers brave enough to join... we shall stop the blood witch or die trying"
A brave statement, almost a foolish one. Though the room considered it as the best option going forward...
Throughout human history and the legends that originate from stories long past, it is a swordbreaker who is always in the centre. "Swordbreakers defy fate"

Each captain went back to their bases and gathered their forces. Announcing the future plan and the strike team being led by the phantom blades. Any with the rank of spellsword or Swordbreaker is invited to join, but none are ordered to.
For none can deny a magic knight would gladly die protecting their homeland but to venture into foriegn land to face death itself is a much more daunting task for a knight.
Unfortunately the amount of brave souls willing to join this quest was fairly low.
The team was a mixture of fifteen spellswords and Swordbreakers.
Apart from the Phantoms which number eleven including captain Waboe there was...
The kings assassin 'Voidwalker' Shiki Naza,
A swordbreaker from the Golden winds and two spellswords from the blue dragons...
After a week of waiting for the voidwalker they are transported to Firmalt, a town close to the border between Fuanna and Grudga.
3b0a66ebac1b9c92c3dc51aa45b76e5e.jpg
Waboe knew many crossed the border during the bloody year of Fuanna that was the Witch's invasion, Firmalt being the first sign of civilization meant most past through or rest in this walled town for safety. Knowing his vice captain had made his home there Waboe sent word to Yahno with the order to gather any from Fuanna willing to join or help their dangerous cause.
It only took three days but Yahno had three potential candidates...
The first one was the horned beastkin child he had taken in off the street. A young girl named Martha, blessed with earth mana and tougher then most humans older and larger then her.
The second was a light elf by the name of Finnius Stormchild, a well travelled sort with talents for the blade and commanding the spirits.
The third was a hobbit named Samihank, besides his bow the most notable thing about this one was a suave confidence that may or may not be a tremendous act for potential gold.

When the team arrived stepping out of a dark portal, Shiki took a moment to catch his breath while Waboe went to find his vice captain.
Yahno was found entering the town dragging the latest monster to threaten Firmalt behind two horses. Martha, Stormchild and Samihank had joined to help out or spectate the quest to slay a mighty gorgon.
The exoskeleton of a poisonous bull is much like steel and the noxious gases they breathe is strong enough to cause paralysis in a minotaur, but it was brought down like a common wolf if you believe the bragging of Samihank whose arrows did nothing but distract the Monster.

Upon seeing his captain Yahno abandoned his catch and rushed to embrace the man with a laugh.
"Yes it's been months Naza, but Kawlii is in danger. I aim to leave sooner than later so tell me you have received my orders and completed them and that you haven't been playing hunter out here..."
Yahno laughed giving the man a shove before pointing out the three from Fuanna by the dead gorgon.
The captain and vice captain of the phantom blades approached and yahno made the introductions pointing to each as he said their names...
"Marthie, Finni, Sami this is captain Shrouda of the phantom blades. We just call him Wabo"
Waboe offered each his hand to shake in turn but looked a tad confused at the candidates.
"Forgive me if I'm wrong but aren't you two children?"
"beastkin girl probably is but Samihut is a hobbit and he shaves, besides Marthie there is stronger then most humans I fought as a recruit. Only thing stopping her from being a magic knight is the horns, probably some other rules as well..."

Yahno muttered with a smirk and Waboe pressed on "i trust this tosser of a vice captain explained the dangers of this task? I assure compensation if you survive but I will not press anyone into service for what is not only dangerous but seemingly impossible... all I can do is ask you will help us"
Indeed the tosser had explained what the task was, though it was done so in shorthand abbreviated a fair bit but still hitting the key points.
Off to go stop that bloody Witch in Fuanna...
Yea I'm looking for a guide who knows the lands, towns, more of a scout like job if I'm honest...

Obviously payment will happen you don't get something for nothing, not like ima force you back over the border...
Waboe stood stoically awaiting a confirmation as Yahno stood behind with hand gestures motioning for those from Fuanna to agree.

mysteryxio mysteryxio Vaz is the newest recruit of the golden winds, as a swordbreaker he was pressured by captain Duvall Breeze into joining as "Swordbreakers change fate" but in honesty captain breeze is jealous of the recruits potential and sent Vaz to die. You arrive in Firmalt with the group.
Y'all can interact with each other or Yahno and Waboe,

For everyone to know during these opening posts there is a few npcs here who will die or spilt from the group as I'm not writing for ten real characters each post aha
feel free to name or use one in a small way for your post but know they are not sticking about once the team enters Fuanna proper.

Fenris Fenris Spoiled Bread Spoiled Bread
Your characters start with Yahno in Firmalt, having watched or participated in taking down a gorgon outside the walls of Firmalt.
Gorgon.png
Samihank is a hobbit with a bone bow and the sort of accuracy that makes robin hood jealous. If he stays around depends on each players actions aha

Post order is 1 2 than you as in let two people post before you go again. At a minimum I'm hoping for two posts a week but if I need to set a maximum to keep people from getting ahead or left behind I'll work something out.
If you have questions please ask in a PM or on the OOC I'm making, apart from that have fun follow RPNs rules and don't be a tosser.
For anyone else wanting to join hit up the check or OOC to see if we have spots.

Martha dragged her bare feet as she followed Yahno and the others back to the town with a broken bull horn on her right hand and her boots on her left hand. Although she was unscatched, she didn't seems to enjoy their last hunt too much. Her hair was in a mess and there's dark stinky miasma emanates from her body. The only thing that was untouched by it was the boots, which Martha took off before the battle began.

Long story short, she tried to ride the bull and then got shot by toxic gas at zero range. While normally such thing would make anyone drop down from the bull and get free stomping, Martha succeeded in creating a layer of steel on her hands and hooked both her hands into the bull's eye sockets before she got paralyzed, preventing herself from falling off. She practically rodeoing the bull and gouging its eyes at the same time in a half-conscious state. That broken horn was from the time the bull got so furious it smashed through boulders in an attempt to get her down.

Anyway, Martha's bad mood immediately changed when she realized the person Yahno was talking to was the leader of the team that would be sent to Fuanna. She hastily wore her boots and pocketed the horn so she could pay attention to the conversation. She also made sure to rub her hands as clean as possible before eagerly shook Waboe's hand.

"Yes, sir. I'm ready. Sir!" She performed an awkward left-handed salute, her eyes showed a glimpse of fiery determination. She had been waiting for months for this chance and she wouldn't let it slip.

Finnean Stormchild - Light Elf
A thin smile crossed Finn's features when the sword-breaker rushed from their cart to meet with the leader of the heavily armed group. The heartfelt reunion wasn't what he'd expected from the fabled Phantom blades but then again the day had been filled with surprises. Who'd could have known that the petite looking beastkin was tough as nails and more ferocious than a dire-badger? She and Yahto had certainly earned a measure of respect for engaging the massive Gorgon in striking distance. It's violent thrashing had shaken the ground even at a distance and Finnean had been glad to hang back with Sumihut, landing the occasional potshot.

Abandoning his post by the wagon the elf approached and dipped his head in a curt greeting. “A pleasure to make your acquaintance.” his eyes roaming from face to face picking out details. From Wabo's casual manner of exuding authority to the, keen gaze of an archer or a face shrouded partially by an exquisite mask each of the assembled gave off an air of competence. “Yahno was most forward about the perils of the journey; but the odds of meeting the witch and surviving seem far better in your esteemed company.”

When there was no immediate reaction he quickly added, “I've managed to gather a few maps of the area.” formal grace giving way to flustered gestures. “admittedly some where outdated even before the crimson queens ascent but there's more to being a guide than maps and I've always found my way... spirits willing I might even keep you out of the next downpour.” the last bit spoken with a glance at Liv's hair that didn't appear entirely dry.

Yahno couldnt help but chuckle at Martha's enthusiasm and gave a thumbs up to her and Finnean. Samihut shook Waboe's hand and spoke after the elf talked of maps and spirits.
"He mentioned you want info an help in a task that's basically impossible, but I hear you magic knights get paid handsome for tasks an quests so I figure why not get revenge with some tough sorts and get paid at the end"
Samihut nodded towards the gorgon carcass explaining
"I wanna harvest that best I can and get armoured proper before heading out... but if you join me I'm happy to fill you in on all the blood and shit I saw in the United lands"

Waboe cant help but let a tiny grin show at the Fuannans so ready to help. Nodding in agreement to follow the hobbit towards the blacksmith. "Yahno, take our new acquaintances to meet the others and get them ready for travel. I'll decide the plan going forward after hearing from this one and reading those maps"
Yahno gave a half hearted salute that seemed more sarcastic then neccesary but did as he was told. Waving Martha and Stormchild towards the magic knights...

Walking towards the phantom blades and the three strangers Yahno exclaims "ayo who came for the trip?"
A closer inspection was enough for Yahno to start pointing out the squad to his new friends
"In no order at all as I'm sure they'll introduce themselves...
that attractive young girl with sky blue hair is Liv,
the tall masked man next to her is Gusti,
this mountain of a man is Salvie,
The beautiful red haired lady is Nessi,
That tosser beside her is Nessi's fool, hes called Tosser..."

It was immediately clear that these were just nick names Yahno used as tosser interuppted pointing a axe made of fire towards the man "My name is Tobin Kusser and if you call me tosser once more we shall duel again Naza!"
"ah right,"
Yahno put his fist into his open palm as if remembering
"the fireaxe tosser is named tosser."
Gregusti, Salvatok, Nessipher, Fieful, Jasper, Marylan, Assoka and Oberlink had seen this happen many times over, Tobin and Yahno have competed ever since meeting... The only victory Tobin was able to claim over Yahno was that Nessipher chose him when both attempted to court her.

The group made noises that ranged from giggles, groans, and Tobin's wife talking him down and a few jibes reminding him that he never beats Yahno in combat. Yahno waved off the duel and called them to attention "my house is open to all y'all so you can get ready there, same rules as any other time which i will state every time so we never have a problem again...
Don't eat or drink anything of mine in storage, don't go into my quarters."

With introductions out of the way, in his mind anyway Yahno walked towards the unfamiliar faces.
"so who are you three?"
The blue dragon spellswords introduced themselves as Ray and Dollot, Ray with transparent mana and Dollot with toxic mana.
The third looked like a member of the golden winds but Yahno waited for a answer before taking a drink from his bottle.
============================
Waboe is leaving with Samihut but if you really want to split the group up you can follow lol

Yahno's interacted at everyone in some form to break the ice in a shit way,
once everyone has posted once or twice a brief timeskip will happen landing to the beginning of the journey with everyone ready to quest.

Olivia enjoyed every moment of venturing to Firmalt. Or rather, she was taking in every step as if it were the last time she'd take this walk. The situation itself still overwhelmed her. She was the newest of the Phantom Blades. In fact, Liv could make a case that she was the Phantom of the Blades. Shy, reserved, soft-spoken, and kind-hearted, it was easy to forget that she was even there at times. A part of her was still scared of the decision she made to join such a dangerous mission. She lacked the confidence that most Spellswords and Sword-breakers possessed. However, she had been convinced by some of the other Phantom Blades that she would be useful in this quest. If nothing else, she would do whatever she could to keep others safe, even if it meant putting herself in harm's way.

When she comes across Yahno and the trio he managed to recruit, she was impressed by what looked like a slain gorgon with them. Also, the way that the beastkin saluted a little awkwardly was adorable to Liv and put a smile on her face. On the other hand, she did notice that she was carrying a horn at first, prompting her to believe that she was definitely not one to be taken likely. The same went for everyone there. Though they weren't an army, they all seemed to have the hearts of one. That made Liv feel a bit safer on the inside.

Olivia was doing a great job blending in with the crowd...or so she thought. Suddenly, she heard Finnean make a comment about avoiding a downpour before she caught him looking at her hair. Her eyebrows raise in surprise. "Well um...I-" she started to speak softly, but she was inadvertently interrupted by Yahno and Waboe's conversation about the group's next move. When Yahno introduced her first and complemented her, she found her face turning red. The only thing that saved her from the spotlight was the back and forth between Yahno and Tobin that caused her to giggle. When Yahno finished speaking, she took the opportunity to both explain herself to Finnean and introduce herself. Her voice was still soft when she spoke, but they could hear her clearly this time.

"Forgive me for speaking out of turn, but I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Olivia Bannetto, but everyone calls me Liv. It's a pleasure to meet you all, and I'm honored to be able to work with you." She glances at Finnean and then she lowers her head and looks at the ground. "As for my hair.....it's incapable of fully drying. My skills are based off of water, so my hair is always wet no matter where I am. I apologize if it's inconvenient for anyone."

Martha followed Yahno to meet the rest of the group. She just marvelling at the fact that all these elite people had been gathered from all across the kingdom to hunt down the witch, the same goal as hers! Great! She tried to pay attention to the introduction but at the end the only names she could remember was Tosser and Liv. The former she remembered because, well, he's an axe tosser, easy, the later because the girl did her own introduction and she had wet hair.

"Don't worry, Liv. I like your hair. Looks very glossy!" Martha interjected herself in. She did likes how clean it looks, especially compared to her currently smoky wild hair after the gorgon hunt.

"Also my name is Martha. Marthie sounds like the name of a cheap booze." She exclaimed, while briefly sticking her tongue out at Yahno's direction.

Vaz had been mostly silent. It's not that he was shy but he still was unable to get what he'd heard out of his head. At first he was excited over being chosen. After all he'd only just joined up with the golden winds and already he was being sent on a very important mission. He smiled as he heard how his captain had faith in him. Then the day he left he overheard a conversation between him and his second in command, how he only did this to get Vaz away from him, how he basically sent him to die, listing off reasons that he was unable to hear from the shock of it all. The knowledge that he was essentially sent not for his power but because the captain wanted to be rid of him. He ran off before either saw him.

From then on Vaz rarely spoke. Often hiding behind a scarf and hood he wore. Normally he'd be curious over the creature that was just brought in. Trying to talk to the others in the party. Instead all he said was "Vaz...Wind magic". His tone was soft and he let out a depressed sigh at the end. He took a seat in one of the open chairs, his eyes had a thousand yard stare to them. As if he wasn't really aware of what happens around him.

Yahno blinked a few times in confusion as Vaz introduced himself than sucked away to sit down.
"what the hell was that about?" Yahno looked towards Ray and Dollot who offered no answer but a shrug each. Yahno's gaze turns back to Vaz saying loud enough to be heard...
"You shouldn't be here if your afraid... hell I was almost impressed. I thought everyone in the Golden shits was a coward. Imagine my surprise seeing someone wearing that gold out here near the border...I thought that Breeze tosser only picked spineless sorts like himself."
A smirk was growing larger on his face as Yahno walked infront of the boy an continued.
"You know most of Grudga call Golden winds the Gold piss stains, exclusively dealing with crime in the city cause they to afraid to venture outside past the walls of Dunwel...
so again, my surprise seeing you out here was good, but you sound dead inside and it bothers me... is that just nerves? Or do you regret this already an wish to flee home to the walls of Dunwel..."

Yahno raised his voice hoping to shock the kid into giving a answer
"are you the gold exception among cowards!? Or just another piss stain who worked hard enough to wear gold."

A few of the phantom blades made their way to Yahno's house, Nessipher and Tobin left together in a different direction. Gregusti adjusted his mask and went to stand in earshot of Vaz and Yahno. Gregusti always assumed he would make a better vice captain, so the rare occasion he can hear Yahno attempt to be something of a inspiring leader was a tickle. Especially if he can do better right after.

Finnean Stormchild - Light Elf

One by one the warriors went round introducing themselves. Some spirited and lively not only matching Yanoh's enthusiasms but going so far as to challenge the man to a duel, others gave their name with more reserved grace or in the case of Vaz, barely spoke at all. The man had a haunted look about him that Finn had observed once before on destitute survivors when a fire had claimed their farmstead and livelihood. He gave him a cheerful smile, unsure if it even registered and noted, “To have companions of both wind and water affinities along for the journey is certainly a blessing; and with sir tosser's assistance we shan't struggle to light a campfire even in the dampest of woods.”

Then turned his attention Olivia, expression softening apologetically, “I agree with Martha” making sure to pronounce it as the beastkin had sounded it out, “and regret having made any earlier implications. To be honest my experiences with spirits of water have been... complicated. Witnessing someone of your caliber wield the element might prove to be enlightening, even to one less familiar with the blade.” He patted the short swords hanging by his hips in demonstration.

Meanwhile he'd caught a glimpse of Yahno approaching the quiet Vaz from the corner of his eye, not paying the interaction much heed until the Phantom Blades second in command raised his voice. “Yahno certainly doesn't mince words, or perhaps its a Kawlii custom to be direct in ones intent?” the words slipping his lips before he could help himself; as a spark of nervous energy arced between his fingertips. How would the silent sword breaker respond?

Vaz let out a sigh at Yahno's words. He stood and removed the scarf from his mouth so that he could speak freely. He met Yahno's eyes, though they held no anger or disgust. His were almost like those of one who couldn't feel anymore. As if you were to stab him he'd not even realize it or care. He grabbed an open chair and pulled it towards the party. "I ain't scared of dyin'. The way I was raised, ya get pretty friendly wit him. Won't deny or try to convince ya otherwise 'bout what ya say either. Seen plenty o' those types ya talk of." He remembered one instance where he saw a man eat for free after saying he was a member of the Golden Breeze. How rude and obstinate he was. He had later gone back to pay for him.

"Ya ever meet someone who inspired ya? Who, when he talks to ya, makes ya feel like yer capable of doin anythin? Who, makes ya actually believe there's better in the world then welcomes wit open arms? Then ya find out he hates that you're you. That he didn't even want ya from the start. That he sent ya off to die cause it was the easiest way to get rid of ya." Vaz stopped before he said anymore. "Sorry... didn't mean to bring the mood down like that." He put his head down to avoid eye contact, sure that he'd made a horrible first impression.

Yahno finished his bottle and slid it back into a pocket as Vaz finished speaking. If he was to warrant a guess on the situation he had heard... Duval Breeze was probably the 'inspiring fellow' that destroyed the young man's naive view of a hero.
"I won't lie Vazzie, the first part sounds like you fell in love but the second part sounds like you were forced here without making a choice...
I could say you're an idiot for feeling that way, but let's say your smarter for learning there's plenty of charming tossers who tell lies and treat people like tools.
You want some advice though?"

Yahno paused for effect but didn't wait for a answer before giving out said advice.

"Forget inspiration from others, push forward with your own drive.
you wanna do anything? Try hard and often.
If you wanna believe in a better world? then work towards making that better happen...
Tossers are afraid of challenges, this inspiration of yours sent you here to die and you think it's because of hatred? To pessimistic,
You got sent here because of fear...
Wet down the leg fear, big golden puddle sort of fear"

Yahno smirked smugly
"I won't ask if your the piss or the exception again, you'll prove either or to me during this trip I bet."

Yahno gave Vaz a pat on the shoulder before leaving to pass Gregusti.
"Isn't that what Waboe told you?"
The masked man asked with a hushed tone and a snicker.
"just the part about tossers hating challenges..."
Yahno murmured a tad embarrassed. To ignore the fact others may have been listening yahno made his way towards home to ready himself for the quest but more importantly, to make sure none ventured into his quarters or ate his good cheese.

Timeskip will happen soon so id appreciate if the next posts don't lock anyone into needing to immediately answer.
Getting ready in a vague way or non important conversation with another character is a ok as my next post will skip us to leaving Firmalt

Olivia raised her head as the compliments continued to trickle in. This time, it was Martha who mentioned her hair before introducing herself to the group. Liv flashed a modest smile and couldn't help but laugh at her sticking her tongue out at Yahno. "Thank you. I like your name. It's nice."

Her attention then turns back to Finnean. It was sweet of him to apologize, but she felt bad. Not because of what he said, but because he felt that he had to apologize. "No need to apologize. You didn't know, and I wasn't offended. I was just caught off-guard by all of the attention. I like your swords by the way. They're cool." She points at Martha's horns. "Just like her horns. They're cool too. I um...I'm gonna go make sure I'm fully prepared. Not to say that I'm not, but one can't be too careful, right? I'll stop talking now." She turns to see Yahno talking to the Golden Winds recruit. "I hope he's okay..." she whispers to herself as she walks off.

"Right? They're cool, right?! Even the roughest taurans would envy my horns." Liv's praise seemed to really stroke Martha's ego as she proudly rubbed her horns. Sometimes the horns felts too heavy for her head and it definitely prevented her to sleep sideways but she couldn't deny that it simply looks good, also the horns kept reminding her that she just didn't plopped into existence out of thin air, but there's a couple out there who thought it was a good idea to make a baby and then drop it in front of an orphanage. One day she would search for the damn couple and give them a good smack on the head. Heh.

After that, Martha cleaned herself and prepare for the upcoming journey. She could be seen sitting in front of a blacksmithing store with a large backpack on her back, in her hands was a sack filled with scrap metals which she gleefully munch as if it was honey candy.
