Fantasy Slayers: Modern Maniacs

(Again sorry guys :c Being away this weekend is setiing me back on the RP, I'm pretty sure I got the gist of whats going on now.)

Takao stood by Terra as the whole event happened. Upon arriving inside the pit he was a bit worried that something happened to Mr. Grey. Hwen he heard his voice he was a bit relieved. Takao listened to what he had to say and didn't respond with much. He was still a bit upset after coming home to his father. He did have an amazing time with Terra. Would they eventually go on another date? "Werewolves aye..? hmm.."

"Heaven forbid I leave you for the werewolves Conner." He gives him a glare, but turns back to Grey, "You say it won't be like Jane's, what do you mean?". Luke was very concerned, for Jane seemed to gain very honed acrobatics and speed, what would it Be like for Luke. Either way he was very surprised with the support from Jane, but he didn't break his calm self, "I'm the fearless leader remember, I always find a way to shine.".

"I simply meant that even though your abilities are similar, every Slayer is different." Mr. Grey commented. He then closed his large book, revealing that it's title was 'Tome of Fantastic Creatures'. Jane shot a glance at Luke. "More likely you'll shining in sweat from the fear to be felt when we meet the werewolves." Jane said jokingly, an obvious tone of friendly jokes in her voice, she grinned.

"Ah, in that case I can't wait to see." He rolled his neck, popping the bones and ending with looking at Jane. "Oh, just admit I'll have to protect you like always." He gave a half smile, his voice mimicking hers. He quickly looked back up, not wanting to give Jane anymore reason to reject him. This is the thing he hated with her, one moment he was enjoying the time with here, the next one of them throws down an emotional statement that ruins their time. There was no reason to deal with her, she was just another enforcer of stereotypes.

Amelia walked out of the little craft shop feeling fifteen dollars lighter, but in possession of a prism that looked just like the one in the book. It was funny in that store. They kept trying to get her to buy various different colored stones of different sizes and shapes. There was a whole spiritual thing to do with all of the stones or something. A bunch of nonsense, Amelia thought to herself. How could possession of a stone change one's luck or... fate? It was a gimmick, she decided. A gimmick that she would not finance.

So she left the store with the one little clear quartz crystal, much to the dismay of the shopkeeper. If it could actually help was still a mystery that Amelia was very curious to solve, but she needed to play her part in this charade to keep Mr. Grey off her back. If the others all showed up at the pit without her, how would that make her look?

The light changed once more and Amelia stepped lightly through the woods, not liking the fact that she was all alone. It made her uneasy for some reason. The woods seemed devoid of life at this time, as if a predator in the area had silenced all the animals around. She paused for a moment to look around. She stopped breathing. Listened.

Nothing.

It was quiet. The hairs on the back of her neck were standing on end. A stillness had settled over the boughs like it was going to rain, but the smell of rain wasn't there. Amelia began walking briskly to the entrance to the Pit, highly aware that there was some unfriendly presence in the wood with her.

"Ya, leave me with my shotgun and silver buckshot." Conner said almost to quiet to hear. Really, Luke should have known this, it was his enemy monster as it was. "So when we do find them, or when they find us, what are we going to do? Running in and hitting or shooting whatever moves will only work for so many things.

"How about some bait?" Luke thought that each of these monsters have been drawn to their presence, especially those who were facing their own monster. "They seemed drawn to us, why not let me go sit out there and wait for em." He turned to face Conner, letting his side brush Jane, hoping for no retaliation.

Jane smirked. "Right, protect me." She replied, not noticing Luke brushed against her. "Well, now that we know what's goin' on, and nothing needs killing as of yet...I'll be training." She said and began walking to the weapons wall. "Bait is not an option, and as I said, I don't know where they even are yet. I will answer questions later, for now, I must study up on the beasts." Mr. Grey said. Jane walked to the wall where Luke had his angry sparring session with. She sighed and began punching the wall, doing some basic reps of physical training. Once Amelia entered, she didn't even look in her direction.

"If you want to be the bait, just remember you said it not me." Conner said jokingly. "But we could just set up somewhere and wait for them to come to us. It would work the same way but we would be a bit more prepared." he continued to say as Jane walked away to practice.

"M-Mr. Grey!" Amelia exclaimed upon seeing her teacher. She was rather surprised to find him in the Pit. "You're alright! I - well, we - were worried about you!" she said cheerily, feigning happiness when all she wanted was to have access to the library in the Pit without having to worry about him hovering about. "I heard you say something about studying beasts?" she asked. "How can I help?"

Mr. Grey ignored her obvious lie of being happy to see him. "Yes...in the library there's a book on werebeasts, would you fetch for me, please?" He asked her, his nose buried in a book. "It's on a top shelf, you may have to get someone to help you." He said. Jane continued training on the wall, her fists striking it in an orderly fashion, her gloves protected her skin from cuts or bruises.

"I'll go with you. I can reach just about anything." he said, puffing his chest out a bit at his boast. Turning back around, Conner tells Luke, "Remember what I said about setting up. It's a good plan, I just know it." Turning back to Amelia, he motions for her to lead the way. He may have been able to find the shooting range, but he felt like that would be the limit of him finding other rooms in the Pit.

Luke stepped over to the weapons wall, taking two staffs with him. He came behind Jane, tapping her lightly with one, "Want to head outside, get some real training in.". This was his monster, and he was prepared to be at his best, so practicing with his staff was very important to him. He looked onto Conner, "I like the idea Conner, but you might want to grab something besides the shotgun. If they catch you while you are reloading then I just might have to save you." He gave a slight smile to the boy before returning to Jane.

Jane punched the wall once more before turning around. "Huh? Oh, sure." She replied and gracefully took a staff from him. "Lead the way." She said, gesturing for him to....well lead the way.

"Sure," Amelia said both to Mr. Grey and Conner. She led Conner to the library, she had been there the day before. She felt like she knew exactly where the book was that Mr. Grey wanted. As she walked down the hallway, she turned to look at Conner. "This isn't the first time we've worked together, unlike the others," she said to him, referring to the fact that they were both on Academic Team together. Even so, Amelia didn't really know anything about him. She had always been professional with him, never asking about his life, his family, or his past. Sure, she had seen him around outside of academics as well, but they never spoke.

Amelia found it difficult to read Conner. He was a brainy kid. Smart. Organized. But he seemed like he kept everything to himself. Perhaps it was because of this that she never really got to know him. He played with his cards too close for anyone to sneak a glance.

Luke took the order and began walking the way they came, taking off his shirt as they went. He hung it on a tree right beside his stopping place, letting his hands smooth down the staff. "Let's go slow for a bit, feel each other out." He twirled the staff, letting it swirl around his body.

"Got it." Jane replied, twirling her staff around as well. The staff whooshes past her face, fanning her with a gentle breeze of air. "Whenever you're ready, Luke." She said, readying herself.

"Find me a silver club then." Conner shouted after Luke before following Amelia to the library were she stopped and turned saying that they had worked together before. "Of course not, we're in acidemics. Why?"

Amelia was caught off guard by the bluntness of his reply. "I just... feel like that gives us a little more of a connection than the others, you know?" she asked, stopping to talk to him. "I feel like I've got the others figured out, like they're acting out for some reason," she said, sounding like there was some conspiracy floating about. "Like they're living out loud... to cover up something."

She laughed to herself and shook her head. "I'm sorry, this all sounds crazy. I don't know what I'm saying," she apologized. This whole Slayer business was still a lot to take in. Monsters and magic and all didn't make sense. She was hoping that Conner, the other clever one in the group, would be able to offer his opinion or help her talk through it all, but she couldn't even make sentences anymore.

"Actually, Luke...before we start...I wanted to talk to you about something, if you don't mind." Jane said, lowering her staff and looking at Luke.

"No problem, I'm not understanding what you are saying either." Conner said feeling awkward. "Now where might that book be?" he continued, changing the conversation. Walking over to the nearest book shelf, he begins to look at the titles. "What was it called again?"

"He didn't say, actually..." Amelia said, her mind still elsewhere. Just yesterday, Mr. Grey was cross with her for reading the books, saying they were dangerous or something. But now he was letting the two of them - the bookish sorts - wander the library unsupervised with all of these books lying about to look for a book he didn't give them a name for. What was he playing at?

"What do you think of Mr. Grey?" Amelia asked suddenly, turning her attention back to Conner. Why was he so mysterious? Why didn't he like to tell them anything?

Luke stabbed the staff into the ground, letting it stick out for him to lean on. "Um, sure, what's on your mind." His voice was relaxed, for when he was fighting he was his true self. Caring and calm, which his voice emulated.

"About our last talk in the Pit..." She said, genuine care in her voice. "I wanted to apologize."

Jumping a little at the sudden question, Conner quickly acts like nothing happened and continued to look fo the book. "I'll just grab everything that might have something to to with werebeasts then." he said and began to grab likely sounding books. "I'm not sure about Grey." he said after a brief pause. "Sometimes he seems like he wants to help us. Other times he doesn't tell us things we should probably know. Perhaps he just figured we should know about it already though. It happens when you been doing something for a really long time. Thats what I read somewhere anyway."
