Fandom Skyrim/Civil War Interest Check

AlbaGuBrath

"Scotland Forever"
Hey there, I'm Never! I'm still very new to this site, so please bear with me and any silly mistakes I may make...

What I was wanting to ask about was a Skyrim Civil War roleplay, but with actual, thinking people rather than pre-programmed NPCs. I wouldn't really want to spend too much time on combat (though that would inevitably appear) but instead focus more on the politics, strategy, and personal convictions of the characters. I'd also like to try to work in a system to where battles (physical or diplomatic) are won based on the skill and talent of the characters, so nobody knows going in who/which side is going to be victorious.

Is this something anyone would be interested in? Does anyone have suggestions or feedback to make it better?

By the way, I am going to be leaving for the weekend in a little while. I'll be checking in occasionally, but I won't be on a whole lot until Monday afternoon.

Um...I don't think so. Just a few questions. With characters like Tullius and Ulfric, basically the more important NPCs, would you be playing them as they were interacted with, or would this roleplay be entirely OCs? I don't care either way, Skyrim roleplays are always fun!

That was actually something I was thinking about myself... I was thinking that they would be avalible for roleplay, but most characters would be ocs.

That sounds good! How many characters would we be allowed at most?

As far as on each side, I imagine about as many as wanted to join. I would assume that there would only be a handful in a particular group of roleplayers, but there could be more than one group just in different places. More people would be more realistic, but also harder to manage.

Well, I figure we could go a couple ways... If both of our characters are on the same side, we could just go through from that point of view, and if they're on opposite sides, then we could try to figure out a situation where they're forced to be in the same place and go from there. We could each double and have a character on each side, but I should mention that the only developed character I have is a Stormcloak. I have a character that could be sorta with the Imperials (as a spy or something), but she's nowhere near as developed as my main.

Typically when doing 1x1 I can go up to 4 characters, but only when I have lots of time (which I no longer do, sadly). I'm fine with putting them on the same side if you'd like. My character(s) might not be as developed as yours though, just saying, but I'll try.

I'm sure it will be fine. (:

I'm home for the weekend right now and just using my phone, so I'll have to wait until I have my computer again to be able to do any serious posting... If you like, I can put my character's info up Monday and then you can decide if you would rather be on the same side or not. Either way would be fine. On the one hand, could follow the two characters as they share the same difficulties and strive for a common goal (though probably for different reasons and ideals, which could explore), while on the other could have two sworn enemies having to deal with each other (maybe both trapped somewhere, or one captures the other, or something) and the conflict and/or bonding there.

Yeah, all I have is my phone. On Fridays, and a while for Saturdays, I have a tablet and/or laptop. I like what you said about them striving for a common goal though. Perhaps both the Stormcloaks and Empire found documents or something indicating a Dwarven artifact in an old ruin, and our characters both went after it. I don't know, just spewing ideas.

Yeah, that could be interesting. They would be competing against each other, but then might would have to work together to survive in the ruin.

Yeah, that's what I thought! My character would be, most likely, part of the Empire. Since you aren't able to do much posting though, we don't have to worry about characters until Monday.

I might be interested... don't put me down for a hard yes because I'm new and trying to start a RP too. But I'm amped about writing atm so I think I could juggle two games. So you're looking for people to play their original characters? Are all NPCs off limits than? I have an OC I adore, but its for for me to play with Cicero alongside him.

Hello, both of you! (:

NPCs aren't completely off-limits, but I think it will be limited to one major NPC per person, to keep it fair, and in a pinch NPCs can be used as a play-all.

Will it take place before the end of the civil war or after? Alduin? He could be a fun boss to gang up on, but Paarthunax's Way of the Voice cult sounds fun too.

Before the end of the war. My plan was actually to make the war the main focus of the plot. Not so much the fighting, but the political intrigue, military strategy, and personal convictions of the characters. Why do they fight? What are their goals? How will nobles/generals/common soldiers achieve their goals? How do they react to others and their actions? Etc.
