...
— their bond was their shield against the world, as vital to their survival as the air they breathed.
it didn't take long at all for them to grow attached. four beautiful, intelligent, lonely souls navigating university and finding love in the warmth of fraternity and the safety of loyalty.
— they strayed too close to one another. close enough to burn, rage, smolder should they catch a stray spark, until nothing save their ashes remain.
together, they learned to become comfortable in their own skin, to embrace the tumultuous road of adulthood with open arms, to rely on those around them in times of need. and so they made a promise: no matter what, they would reunite underneath the flowering pear tree by the river trail south of campus. regardless of where they ended up after all that time, who they aligned themselves with, or how proudly they carried themselves, the four of them resolved to meet again at the beginning of their senior year and re-forge that sacred bond yet again if it had been severed. they swore to one another with all the passion and dedication they felt at the time. surely, they were soulmates, blood running hot in their veins.
— and then they burned.
platonic love dared to turn romantic, and the festering nests of insecurities and jealousy reared their hideous mugs among the winter sleet. ear-splitting cries, bloodied lips, and indiscriminate vitriol became as natural as waking up to the morning haze, and the four soulmates had never felt so close, yet so distant. as fate would have it, one particularly heated argument on the journey back from an outing would become the last conversation they’d have with one another. while their eyes faced each other with the ferocity of their pain, hearts blazing and nostrils flaring, another driver rammed into the side of their drifting vehicle, putting all four of them in varying levels of injury from severe concussions to falling into a brief, horrifying coma.
— who was to blame in that situation?
the mother of four who, too, had been distracted on the other side of the intersection? the brutal weather beating down on them like helpless prey on the jungle floor? some of them may have felt so deflected all blame entirely as though the crash had been unavoidable, but the bond between those four had already been tarnished to the point that none of it mattered in the end. they could not save each other, not anymore than they could save themselves. and yet, as they trudged on in solitude and experienced a loneliness far more potent than ever before, that promise still lingered in the back of their troubled minds. the flowering pear tree that once teetered on the verge of death stood several feet taller now, ethereal white petals raining down on the uncut grass below as carelessly as ever, and they yearned to return once again.
— this is the tale of that reunion.
the reunion of soulmates, covered in white ash and flower petals alike, finding the courage to revitalize the dying branches of their souls stretched out in each other’s directions at last— for no less arduous a cause does fate dare to rewrite itself once more.
welcome to the official skeleton flower reboot :'D this is meant to be full of morally gray characters and tense situations, so feel free to suggest any and all ideas for the plot as your heart desires!!

role lore
these were the general dynamics prior to the events that drove them apart. the root causes and mentalities behind each of the following issues and sentiments is up to the players:
- iota and gamma were in an established relationship for a year prior to the crash. they had their own issues, right up to that moment.
- zeta could never support them, as he'd fallen in love with iota when they'd first met without even knowing it. he had changed for the worse, according to epsilon.
- epsilon hated seeing the bitterness of jealousy consume zeta. she wanted her best friend back.
- gamma and epsilon had a falling out the night of the crash, which never got resolved afterwards.
- while epsilon looked up to iota, who envied her vivaciousness in turn, one heinous misunderstanding tainted iota’s trust in her and gamma indefinitely.
- zeta and gamma were first year roommates and the first to become friends among the four of them. they learned more about each other than they realized.
general guidelines
• this is an 18+ rp based in modern times—please be realistic with your fcs.
• the gm (me!) has the final say.
• must have discord; all ooc + plotting will occur there.
post frequency
i ask that everyone post relatively frequently (once or twice a week) to keep the ball rolling, but i'm definitely lenient on this with proper communication. along with this, since this is an extremely relationship-based roleplay, i ask that you write with plenty of detail in each post—no need for an essay, but enough to portray character depth and realistic thought processes.
player discourse
no god-modding/group plotting without discussing it in ooc with all relevant players. drama and romance is strongly encouraged in-character, but keep it classy ooc. resolve any conflicts privately and involve the gm if needed. i reserve the right to kick anyone that continuously proves to be an issue.
