Age: 16

Race: Human

Sexual Orientation: Hetero.

Occupation: Average Stalker/Yandere Girl

  • Sina has always been cold-hearted and insane. She always likes getting what she wants, especially as a child. It all really started when he parents went broke and couldn't get her things she wanted. She hated how she had to reuse things. However, her next door neighbor had some pretty cool things and she wanted to try and take things from him. Well, once his parents didn't really want her to be there just for his items, she wasn't allowed to go there anymore. This made her angry and want to take out her anger on the boy. So, she killed him and it got blamed on by another neighbor and she got off free luckily. Later on in life, she met another boy and she secretly had a crush on him and just wanted to have him for herself, not caring about the anything else but him. If any girls would have interest in them, she'd have to kill them too. She would kill him if she'd have to, but she loves teasing him around and wanting him to notice her.

Hnnnng where to start. I have a feeling this is a character made for a very specific type of role play which is part of a culture I have very little understanding of. But it is late here and I'm still in this weird reviewing frenzy so let's knock this one out too.

Crazy is defined as mentally deranged, especially as manifested in a wild or aggressive way so in a broad sense, yes the character fits the bill but what does it truly achieve?

Are characters supposed to be so one note? Capable of playing out the same tired roles over and over again in the same fashion but wearing a different skin? If one wants crazy, look at what this character represents. Playing a certain type so much over and over that it has developed a single word to describe all that is important in the character. Yandere. She's nothing more than that. A one note symbol for what amounts to a literary sight gag.

If you want to go for crazy or creepy, you can't announce it in a way so boring, it makes white rice and crackers look like an exotic boquet of fruits. Branch out from the set self imposed character roles and develop a unique sub type to call your own and make an impression on the readers.

Focus not on the fact that she just kills off nameless npcs for the ability to say she kills but focus on how it got to that point and how she pulled it off. Show the mental break that occurred to live such a harmful abnormal lifestyle, show the efforts needed to be shown.

In essence, this character is just that. A flat one sided symbol used to designate a sound in a sentence that is an astounding 'meh'

What I reccomend is branching out of assigned character roles and pushing this crazy into new situations without eastern limits and seeing how she fares. Worry less about romance and crushes and more on making a believable character te reader can relate to in a way that scares them~

@Teh Frixz

I would say this character would be apart of the horror/action/fantasy/futuristic/romantic types of role-plays.

I planned for the character to be known as a "Yandere". I understand she is very one-noted, I wanted to start out the character as that and if I ever used this character she'd develop into something more. To not stay as the bore this character sheet makes her to be.

I think the description of killing off npc's would be more appropriate in a role-play. I could write out the very first death of a npc however.

I understand what you mean on your last paragraph but I believe is for this character to experience the situations in a role-play instead of writing so much unnecessary words for nothing. Only for 100/1000 people to view the character? Why not use the character?

-writing so much unnecessary words for nothing-

While I think the point you are trying to make has some validity to it, I don't think writing to develop a character is in any way unnecessary.

I think what it boils down to is the type of roleplays I see and use characters for versus your intended use. My games thrive on character driven interaction and player world creation. This type of character is more so a tool than a theme. A way to reach a certain point in an overplayed arc quickly and then to receive the satisfaction of reaching that point.

While I understand what you were attemting, it remains a fundamental difference in what we as writers are looking to accomplish in a character. Exploration of the human condition through personification of themes and traits versus a tool to achieve a certain degree of real life enjoyment.

My personal opinion is to continue to break away from the Yandere, Tsundere and all that manga style crap. It's the junk food of writing and while it may not be seen like that to you right now, it's the kind of thing that embarrasses you later on. Trust me, I used to be the same way before getting some much harsher feedback. I just had to take the pill they offered and suddenly the real world slapped me in the face.

Trying to make a character a type of dere to me automatically disqualifies them from ever becoming something other than a throwaway cut out paper doll. Something that has no real lasting weight. Unless you can pull off some awesome writing and character development, it'll be difficult leaving that mindset. It's the whole youth writer versus adult writer thing. It's like making an alphabet learning book dark and serious and edgy, it needs to evolve as an overall goal before a concept can be pushed.

I see, honestly.. Not all writers are the same.

It's not really manga crap. It's a style of reading, not many people enjoy it but it's something I enjoy. Just like it is my character.

I do understand your point and it is your opinion but I honestly don't agree with it. You may not like my character because the character is one-noted or is apart of the junk food of writing.

I think that it is okay to make your character however you want. The youth writer and the adult writer doesn't have to be involved in this conversation. It's just a character sheet.
