Kitsune of the North
As like any normal day, the Earth orbited the sun as humanity bustled all over it's surface; whether it was waking up for work or stumbling around their cities in a drunken haze. That was well over 12,700 years ago...
The day of the apocalypse was during the year 11020, a full 9000 years after the world nearly fell apart at the seems. During that massive span of time humanity had witnessed multiple catastrophes that nearly ended civilization, from meteors wiping out large portions of ocean life to the Yellowstone Super Volcano erupting; even enduring a massive Ice-Age that consumed the entire planet for nearly a millennia. It was also during this time that multiple multi-billion corporations were established, building and testing new methods to protect humanity in the future should more disasters occur. One of these corporations was known as Whiteout Industries, conceived and organized before and during the Ice-Age and responsible for establishing bunkers spanning miles underground; and the corporation that introduced the first functional bio-domes to house wildlife that had nearly gone extinct. With the help from a few other organizations constructed satellites to orbit the Earth, redirecting more sunlight to the surface to raise the temperature and reverse the Ice-Age's effects. Humanity once again took control of the surface. They rebuilt their cities and re-established their networks for transportation and communication, though this time with better technology and more concern for the environment. They had even reached a point that new loop-holes in the laws of physics were discovered and allowed them to create a source of infinite energy.
As humanity went about their day to day life, gravitational reading in labs and stations around the world started to give more and more abnormal outputs; with multiple observatories finding that Pluto and it's moons were approaching the inner Solar System. As scientists scrambled to find out what was going on, the weeks that followed saw the other planets being thrown off of their usual orbits as well. Pluto ended up being flung into the sun, with it's moon punching a hole in Saturn's rings before colliding into Venus. By the time Halloween rolled around Earth was the next victim, slowly spiraling away from the sun as scientists now knew what had happened: A rogue Black Hole entered their Solar System. By the time Earth had reached where Jupiter had orbited, the sun was fairly quickly devoured by the Black Hole; with all of humanity bearing witness as one of their satellites observing the sun caught the footage before it too got destroyed. The surface was cooling very rapidly by this point and humanity fled into the bunkers, with the Earth and Moon slowly approaching Jupiter. Both planets had been ejected from the former Solar System, with those who didn't either getting sucked in as well or colliding with one another in violent spectacles. Jupiter and Earth were now in an eternal dance in the cosmos, with the moon having been stripped and destroyed by the intense gravity that Jupiter gave off.
Although the surface of the Earth was now almost completely stripped of life, the remnants of human civilization now lived deep underground. The bunkers Whiteout Industries had built and maintained was now their permanent home, and as time flew by most people had forgotten the horrors that had happened; along with what the surface looked like and how life once thrived above the bunkers. It didn't stop them from exploring though. They had found that some forms of complex lifeforms survived, such as the pine trees of old that had adapted to the harsh cold and lack of sunlight. Deer and Moose also survived, though wolves and mountain lions also survived; thanks in part due to volcanic activity keeping some parts of the surface warm and hospitable. Expeditions to the ruined cities and old observatories still occur, though with heavily armed groups of four to twelve people to fend off any predators. With the next expedition coming up, a new chapter of humanity can begin.

Welcome to the Thread, one and all! To those who are wondering what to expect of this thread, I'll go over some things to expect if you choose to Roleplay with us. This thread will be a mix of slice-of-life and adventure, all with a futuristic post-apocalypse setting and a side of mystery; with quests and events happening every so often as to spice things up as we go. This thread will be slower in pace, so don't worry about not being able to post multiple times a day. Everyone will be in separate groups most of the RP, but each group can interact with each other unless otherwise stated. As for what to expect for characters and their roles, both are listed down below.
Security Guard - Rank X:
-Well known for maintaining the peace within the bunker, they're experts when it comes to combat and are heavily protected and armed. Their armor can take a full magazine of bullets from most pistols and a few shots from multiple rifles, though most of their protection is focused on their torso. All security guards carry their weapons on them both inside and outside, and are one of the four bunker roles allowed to venture to the surface for expeditions. Are highly respected for the most part, with some guards being universally hated.
-Weapons include:
Medic - Rank X:
-The primary people that deal with a large variety of ailments and injuries, any medic worth their salt are those who have spare time for tutoring the new recruits. Equipped with a Medi-gun and enough bandages for multiple casts, most medics are usually in their offices in the medical wing of the bunker; with a few medics roaming to the other sectors to check on the elderly and respond to emergencies. They're also one of four roles allowed to venture to the surface, though what they lack in combat they more than make up for with healing.
-Weapons include:
Scientist - Rank X:
-Another one of the four roles allowed on the surface, the scientists are one of the most respected roles in the bunker. Alongside of running experiments and coming up with better technology, they're the only role that know how to manually operate the observatories on the surface; though they typically focus on better anti-biotics and vaccines for diseases. Their role also has them making more potent explosives for pipe bombs and better bullets and batteries for guns and drones, and as such they have a slew of chemicals with them during expeditions.
-Weapons include:
Explorer - Rank X:
-The fastest and most knowledgeable of the surface, the explorer is the definition of an expert in parkour and treasure hunter. They know the surface better than most, especially the ruins of old cities and towns that have been long since frozen. Their speed and agility allow them to get around obstacles the others couldn't normally traverse, which is why they're the only role allowed into any building in the ruins.
-Weapons include:
President - Rank S:
-As the head of their respective bunker, they always have the final say in major decisions such as expeditions or massive changes to schedules within the bunker. Though their subordinates running the Security and Medical divisions overview the day-to-day law enforcement and outbreak prevention, the primary reason they lead everyone is to provide stability. Without them, the bunker would become much harder to maintain, along with power struggles becoming much more dangerous.
Security Division Head - Rank S:
-The primary officer keeping everyone in line, they're the ones who enforce the law and send out Security Guards to snuff out conflicts. Though they usually don't engage in the process themselves, they'll show up personally if things get dire; as they're usually much more experienced and intimidating. Recruits should be weary, as most who train under them tend to become either insensitive; with the worst causing trouble instead of resolving it. It's safe to say that only the great officers are remembered in a positive light. One of the two ranks that can activate the emergency doors, as to trap and corner whoever they're pursuing.
Medical Division Head - Rank S:
-Holding a much better reputation than the head of security, these fine fellows have one of the hardest roles in the bunker aside from those on expeditions. Between organizing schedules for staff and deciding which patients get priority over others, they tend to be swamped in work on busy days while having only a moderate amount normally. They're also the ones who have to keep an eye and ear out for outbreaks or accidents, even going so far as to have separate hallways for medical staff to use in emergencies. They're one of the two that can activate the emergency bunker doors during an outbreak, separating the bunker into sections to contain whatever incident occurs.
Farmer - Rank A:
-Tasked with growing the bunkers food, they tend to spend most of their work with crops. Their jobs range from picking apples and bananas to plucking off tomatoes and blueberries, but they also grow herbs and spices. Most are also well versed with cleaning and preparing the food for consumption, and often run trips to and from the farms to deliver the food to the shops and restaurants.
Gardener - Rank A:
-They know how to grow every kind of plant and algae, though that includes the plants dangerous to humans. They spend most of their time outside of the biodomes checking on the plants casually growing around the bunker, but the time they spend inside of the biodomes is what they specialize in. With the primary task being to preserve all plant life within the biodomes, their check-ups on all of the domes are frequent and thorough; often armed to some small degree due to hostile animals living within the domes as well.
Caretaker - Rank A:
-These fine members of the bunker oversee the care and nurture of the animals within the bunkers biodomes, as they're the last bastions of life from before the apocalypse. With each biodome specifically made to recreate the look and feel of each biome on Earth, each one is also filled with wildlife that the caretakers attend to; more specifically the injured or stuck animals. They know almost every trick in the book with these creatures, and are equipped with sleeping darts should they be ambushed by a particularly hostile predator. They sometimes get the help from a Medic if the animal is too aggressive to treat normally.
Engineer - Rank A:
-As the primary workers who maintain the bunker, they tend to be scattered around and doing maintenance work. They're also the role responsible for building and expanding the bunker as needed, filling their work schedule even more. Though they don't design new parts of the bunker like the architect or fix machines like the mechanic, they can fill in either role as needed for extra pay.
Electrician - Rank A:
-The brains behind the wiring of the entire bunker, they focus on fixing electrical issues such as power outages or shorted circuits. Their primary tasks are to prevent primary systems from failing and fix major issues as quickly as possible, as to avoid the animals within any of the biodomes from escaping; and to ensure the cold temperatures from above don't affect the people of the bunker.
Architect - Rank A:
-With the skills and imagination to design and oversee any construction project going down, they tend to be very well respected when what they design goes to plan. They have every schematic for every part of the bunker, so as such they are kept under lock and key to avoid criminals from getting a hold to essential blue-prints of the bunker. Some of their projects aren't very well received, but who can complain when the bunkers aren't designed solely for survival. Boosting morale is a key part of their job, though sometimes it's a bit hit or miss.
Mechanic - Rank B:
-When there's something strange with your phone or alarm clock, who you gonna call? Hopefully the mechanic. Their jobs focus on fixing your everyday appliances, from faulty coffee makers to the faucet to your sink; often visiting peoples homes as needed to fix more of the mundane issues. They also fix-up the gear for anyone going on expeditions for free, so be sure to check in with them just in case your gun breaks the next time you try to use it.
Teacher - Rank B:
-They focus on helping children learn the essentials of being a functioning member of society, along with preserving history to the best of their ability. Although they don't directly help maintain the bunker like everyone else, their jobs are more geared for raising individuals that will one day lead humanity into the stars for a new home. They also help give children a stable place they can be themselves, along with a fun learning environment with less chances of distraction.
Janitor - Rank B:
-For all the neat freaks in the bunker there are, there's a janitor at the ready to clean up the messes within the bunker. As one should expect, they clean the bunker's many hallways and rooms that make up the bunker, from mopping and sweeping to collecting trash bags to dispose of. They are scattered throughout the bunker and begin more thorough cleaning at night, so please respect the work they do while you still live in the bunker.
Miner - Rank B:
-If you're looking for valuable ores or just want to contribute to the expansion of the bunker, one of those reasons is currently a job. The miners within the bunker primarily help expand the bunker further and further into the stone surrounding the bunker walls, sorry to all you treasure hunters out there. Though they do occasionally find rarer metals or gemstones while expanding, the primary way the bunker gets new resources is by the atom converter.
Chef - Rank B:
-One of the most loved and respected roles, being a chef is not easy. They are extremely gifted at their craft, and boost the morale of the individual by a lot. Their skills range from making pizza by hand to sautéing multiple ingredients for an extravagant meal, and with it there are now multiple restaurants and fast food places that people go to for delicious food. As their job is cooking, you can expect to have them cook for you should you live with them.
Civilian - Rank C:
-The average person who doesn't have a specific role at any given moment, they're on basic universal income as to avoid them from being homeless and starving. Most civilians are either dating or married, with the majority of the couples having started a family already. As everyone within the bunker starts and ends as a civilian, it's more of a secondary role that's overshadowed by their primary role. Conditions that make one a civilian are as follows:
Other - Rank C:
-This role includes any jobs that are not listed specifically, which includes artists and content creators.
-Well known for maintaining the peace within the bunker, they're experts when it comes to combat and are heavily protected and armed.
