"You're messing with the wrong puppy!" A man growled, his voice inhumanly deep.

The dark alleys of Mobville regularly ran red with blood and this one was no different. Business dealings, executions, and meetings between lovers regularly went wrong.

Two men in fine black suits with red shirts were standing at the entrance to an alley, blocking it from view. No one was interested in what was going on anyways. People knew how to keep their nose down and only their own business on their minds.

The third man dressed in casual clothes, standing deeper in the alley ripped his shirt off as black fur started growing out of his skin and he started expanding to several times his normal size. His face twisted into a wolf-like muzzle with large, sharp teeth. His animalistic roar was cut short by a gunshot and the beast fell flat on the ground as blood started pouring from under his head.

"The boss wants everyone to head back to the theater." A third man lowered his handgun, looking at the other two. "He's handing out assignments. A lot of them since he called everyone back." He explained.

"Shit..." One said, grimacing at the dead werewolf. "Last week I had to hunt around for fairies. At least there's never a shortage of donators on his meetings." He grinned, showing his pearl white fangs.

A dark door had opened up to reveal a dimly lit room, where Leah Fariss did most of her dealings. She was in the middle of the cold room, her legs hanging over the armrest of an expensive leather recliner. She was picking her teeth with a knife, a classic picture for a woman like her.

"Who is it?" She said lazily, barely tilting her face to see a shadowed figure. She could sense his shadow, and he seemed to be her newest client. The one sent to retrieve a nether crystal.

"I've got your package." The man said in a gruff voice, not stepping out of the shadows.

Leah didn't sense anything with him except a small handgun, and she sighed.

"You should know better than to scam me." she said in a sickly sweet voice.

She stood up and flicked her wrist, locking the man's hands in place. The shadows had done their job.

Her wavy hair bounced as she took slow steps to the man, twirling a knife between her fingers.

The man began uttering apologies mixed with strings of curse words.

"Your apologies mean nothing to me." She whispered, and she held the knife's handle firmly in her hand. She drew her arm back and threw. The knife twirled through the air and planted itself into the man's chest. His scream was silenced as shadows crept into his mouth. They pushed their way through his body, and pulled the knife from where it had landed in his heart. Leah smiled as the life drained form the man's eyes. Her pointed teeth flashed despite the fact that there was barely any light in the room. "Serves you right." She pulled the knife from the dead man's chest and walked outside, glancing up at the muggy sky. "I guess I'll have to find it myself"

The vast basement of the luxurious but rarely visited Mobville Theater served as the headquarters for the Praetorians - A well organized, if low on numbers, crime family slowly sinking their hands deeper into the bowels of the city.

The basement was decorated even better than the rest of the theater. With gold decorated walls, fancy chandeliers, fine furniture and expensive art all hung on the walls to the soundtrack of classical music and scenery of people dancing either in fine clothes or barely dressed at all. Some danced, some drank, some fed of food while others fed on the blood of many 'volunteers' which gladly served an ancient vampire. He, however, was deeper. In the office, past all the entertainment.

Leah assumed she should report back to her leader, who she didn't enjoy addressing as such. She flew over smoky buildings towards the meeting place of the gang that she had joined, which was run by an ancient vampire. She didn't look up to him, but was indebted to him because of reasons from the past. Leah arrived, fluttered down to the entrance, and demanded access.

With smirks at the fairy, the large vampire guards moved aside, letting her into the basement.

Victor was sitting in his dimly lit office with only his closest vampires inside - the ones he granted the gift himself. He, however, had another guest. His usual lover. A logical pick for a lover, yet unusual for someone of his status. A satyr girl with long, curly red hair. She was sitting on the fine, red padded leather sofa, playing games on her phone while keeping her goat legs crossed.

Victor was looking over some documents from a team recently sent to check up on some rumors. Things didn't look good. The artifacts he was looking for - he needed - were nowhere to be found.

Kiyoko walked on dimly light streets walking home from the bar. Nothing interesting happened today although there were several fights, it was a usual thing though. He kept his hair I. Front of his eyes as usual hiding them from the view of others. He avoided the Esppecially dark streets not wanting g any trouble tonight, it always seemed to follow hi wherever he went. 'Maybe it's because I'm a fallen angel or something like that.' He thought signing as he heard another screaming, this one sounded like a man, Kiyoko sense that he deserved it.

He looked towards the source of the scream and saw a woman standing outside. He looked at her for a few more moments before he continued walking again casually playing with his necklace as he walked.

He wasn't in any rush to get home, it was t like anyone was waiting for him. He often took detours and today was no exception. He walked by an alleyway and saw two people that appeared to be standing guard. He stopped walking for a moment to see what was going a werewolf was being killed. He sucked in air quickly and kept walking keeping his head low, he didn't want to be involved in whatever they were doing and he had no business in it.

He watched as the men disappeared not noticing him in the slightest. Curiosity got the best of him and he followed after them keeping to the shadows.

Leah entered and made her way into the ancient vampire's lair. She walked past gold adorned hallways and doors, ignoring screams and shouts from within the closed doors. This place always set her off the edge, and she normally wanted to get in and out as fast as she could. Today proved no exception.

Leah made her way into the innermost chamber. She barged in, making herself known.

The sun was setting as Baal was heading home, being done with the job. He was walking slowly thinking about the latest case and sighing "After thousands of years, people still don't know how to commit a murder properly." Baal said looking at the horizon "I always have to bail out the same imbeciles."

He suddenly stopped in front of the alley leading to the theater's back entrance. Baal grinned as Kiyoko was thrown against the wall and held there as he began making his way towards him. "What do we have here?" said Baal "A fallen angel. Your kind is miserable. I would do you a favor by ending your petty existence."

"Oh?" Victor looked up with a raised eyebrow. Everyone in the room flinched, reaching for their guns but quickly relaxed once identifying the newcomer. Kora didn't even flinch at the fairy barging in but remained focused on her phone. "My little fairy." Victor gave her a pleasant smirk. "How are you?" He leaned back and motioned his hand at one of the two chairs in front of his desk. "Please, take a seat. Relax."

Leah gave a glance to the chair, and decided to not accept this request. "I'm fine flying. And I'm not you-" she stopped herself mid sentence, not wanting to anger Victor. "The client I found to retrieve the nether crystal failed me, and instead tried to kill me. Foolish action, but we do not have the crystal." She said her report fast, wanting to get it over with.

@RomanticDaffodil

"That's disappointing." Victor nodded. "You should rela..." He stopped as Kora suddenly stood up.

"Oh wow..." She looked at Leah. "You look awesome. I love your wings." She smiled.

Victor simply watched her with a cold expression. "I have a more important task for you next, however." He said slowly, turning to face Leah again.

Leah gave a small smile, happy to get some amount of acknowledgement in this place. "Thank you. I'm glad someone noticed." She turned back to Victor. "Awesome. Just what I need. Just get me out of here." She replied coldly. Shivers ran down her spine, and she couldn't pinpoint where they came from.

"I've never really tried a fairy before..." Kora placed a finger on her lips while giving a teasing smile to Victor. She knew how to push his buttons and he recognized her attempts.

"Not the time, dear." He rolled his eyes and frowned at Leah. "There's a rumor going around. A friend of a friend heard that his uncle's cousin..." He exaggerated it for effect. "That there's new blood in the city. Someone who knows how to bring about the Horsemen." He cleared his throat. "You keep your eyes open for that." He said and raised a finger. "Your main task is to look for a philosopher's stone. One should be passing through the city within the next week. Someone managed to create a new one." He shrugged. "I had one a while ago but it faded over time." Victor explained.

"And for me?" Leah said, half expecting the answer that he would give. She gave a playful smile to Korra, and started tapping her foot. Victor knew that if she wasn't in his organization, she would be hunted down and killed for being competition to his "buyers". The only answer she expected from him was one telling of how she is protected by him and blah blah blah. It was beginning to get a bit boring for her.

"Spend the evening." He said watching Leah and getting a confused look from Kora. "With me. In peace." He said with a smirk creeping up on his face. "No strings attached. Just relax." He smiled, feeling the glare Kora was giving him.

Leah fluttered backwards, and started shaking her head. "Not very much of a reward if you ask me." She said in disgust, looking away from Victor. "I'll get the stone, and keep my ear open. I don't want to spend any more time with you than I have to." Leah had discarded her careful words and instead laced her sentences with venom.

Victor stood up, getting careful looks from his vampiric guards. "Now, now..." He slowly started walking around his desk. "What did I do to deserve such a treatment?" He placed one hand on the chair he offered to Leah. "I protect you. I give you a duty... And you insult me." He took a few steps towards her. "You wound me with your words." He clenched a fist yet spoke in a calm voice. "Am I not a kind host? Would you rather join one of the werewolf gangs? I hear they're not so bad after the fourth or fifth time they maul you to a bloody pulp." He stopped not too far from Leah. "If you feel so... Disgusted by my presence." He shrugged. "You are free to leave. I won't yank your chain."

Even the normally cheerful Kora was watching the two with a tense look on her face and subconsciously biting her lower lip.

Leah kept backing away, until she hit one of the many columns that surrounded the room. "Do you not know what I feel romantically? Your interests don't match mine, but I would like to stay." She thought out what she was going to say next. "If I agree, we would have to meet somewhere that is not here. Somewhere I would like to go. And you would have to promise not to make any... moves on me."

@RomanticDaffodil

Victor grinned, showing his fangs. Even a couple of his guards chuckled. "Do you know what two thousand years does to a person's wishes? I'm not interested in 'making a move' on you. I'm interested in opening up your mind and see what's inside. Figuratively." He said, stepping back and spreading his arms. "You do not feel comfortable here." He said matter-of-factly. "I hear that more and more. The older I get, the more distant I become from the newer generations." He frowned, heading back to his desk. "Find the stone, keep your ears open." He pointed at Leah. "If you fail..." He shrugged. "That's expected." He nodded, hoping reverse psychology would encourage her to work harder.

Kora shook her head and walked past Leah. "I don't want to listen to this. I'm gonna get a drink." She said and walked out of the office. With a single flick of the wrist, a pair of his guards followed her out.

Leah shook her head, and silently scolded herself for the response. She was realized how naive that comment was, but it was too late. The damage was done. She scowled at Victor and left the office without a word, leaving him behind. She would succeed. She hoped he knew that. She would prove that she was more than just a pawn that he could toy with.

@RomanticDaffodil

"Fairy." Kora whispered and motioned with her finger for Leah to come closer. She was standing by a vintage bar, holding a glass with brownish liquid inside. Kora had a serious expression on her face - an unusual sight for a satyr. Especially not one who was currently drinking strong liquor. Victor's vampiric guards weren't far away, keeping an eye on her.

Leah slowly approached Kora at the bar. She sat down next to the satyr, wondering what she could possibly say to Leah. She ordered a round of fine Scotch, and turned her attention to Kora.

"I love that mosquito in there, you know?" She sighed. "I also really like making him annoyed. It spices up his life as well." She smiled at Leah and turned into a whisper. "Forget the stone. He really needs to find out how to summon the Horsemen. He also didn't tell you that the rumors aren't false. Only one part of the summon is known by the target." She grinned. "You find that out and you'll have him by..." She paused. "The fangs."

Leah nodded, liking this idea. "I love a good game of manipulation." she sighed, racking her mind on clues of the information whereabouts. "Do you know where I can start? He doubts I can do this, but I'll prove him wrong. It'll show him not to doubt me." She gave a sly smile.
