Abilities,Weapons and Equipment

Thunder
Shortcut's beloved and above all deadly sniper rifle, which has a high level of penetration and precision. However, it has only a one-shot magazine and is quite loud. The weapon was once a normal geth sniperrifle (Javelin), which was modified with turian elements in the laboratory, where he found it.

Cybernetic Enhancements
Since the accident, which Shortcut almost cost his life, his body has been equipped with many cybernetics, which guarantee him more physical strength, more stamina, faster reflexes and better perception. However, this also has its disadvantages.

The abilities of the Xenn
Xenn can naturally make themselves invisible to the naked eye for a long time and have sharp claws. These skills were taken over and improved by the cybernetics and the implants. This way, Shortcut can remain invisible for much longer and his claws are now extendable blades at the tips of his fingers and toes.

Assault-Rifle & more
Also in his arsenal is a normal Assault Rifle and other utensils, such as two smoke grenades and a portable LED light. And of course enough additional ammunition.

Sol'Maru's story

"When destiny chooses you, who are you to deny it?"

Sol´Maru had a fairly normal life on Relvan until his teenage years. Every day he got up on time in the morning, getting ready to either work in the spice fields that belonged to his father or to stroll through the city with his friends. He was quite popular among his friends, especially since his father was one of the city's best-known traders. Sol´Maru hardly saw him however, because he was often out and about to make a living for the family. Sol'Maru's mother was a very kind Xenn. Even though it was quite stressful at times, she always kept a cool head. That being said, her kiis - crispy biscuits based on the Xenn recipe - were always the best that Sol'Maru had ever eaten. He wanted to be able to bake them himself one day. But there was one thing the young Xenn had always dreamed of: Traveling through the vast galaxy.

And then his dream should finally come true at the age of 25. He was able to accompany his father on a trip to space for the first time on his birthday, even if Sol'Maru's mother was very worried. And not without reason, because it was said that many bandits, slavers and gangs are currently on the loose. But that was a risk you always had to take if you wanted to do good profits and Sol'Maru's father knew that. So he insisted on doing this trip. And of course, Sol´Maru - as adventurous as he was - didn't let anything or anyone stop him from accompanying his father. He was also not defenseless in case something should happen. After all he was a Xenn. And in addition, he had trained himself a little in close combat with his claws every day. So the Xenn said goodbye to his mother and began his first journey into space on the said day. However, he would never have thought that this would be the last time his mother would see him for a long time, if not forever.

The transport ship was of medium size and the cargo hold for the spice ready for sale took up two thirds of the ship. The crew was therefore rather sparse: the captain, the pilot, the co-pilot and the four guards. Then there were two of the father's workers, himself and of course Sol'Maru. However, not all were Xenn on this ship, because the transporter was not from Relvan. This was actually nothing out of the ordinary, as that was the case at most trader hotspots.

The first two days just went as planned. They reached the first three ports and delivered some goods from the ship to said ports, while they took some other wares onto their ship. Sol´Maru also had the time of his life. He just loved everything about the trip and from that moment on he vowed to himself, that he one day will explore the whole galaxy himself, go on adventures and make a lot of money.

However, the beautiful voyage took a sudden turn when it turned out that the last containers that were brought on board were full of slavers, who were just waiting for the one moment the ship left the port. One didn't exactly know how the crooks had smuggled themselves into the crates, but in the end that didn't really matter, because after a short moment silence on the ship, the bandits burst out of their hiding place. Since the criminals had the surprise advantage, it didn't take long for them to have the ship under their control. The two guards positioned in the cargobay had been killed without hesitation. Even if the rest of the crew were now alarmed, the situation was almost hopeless. Because what also nobody knew: The co-pilot was one of the culprits. Since he was alone with the pilot in the cockpit, he had no problem Killing him and preventing him from sending an SOS call. The two remaining guards and the captain were also overwhelmed and killed by the slavers. The pirates took some losses in this attack, but were still outnumbering the other.

So now only the four Xenns were still in danger. While the treacherous co-pilot, who turned out to be the leader of the squad, was already headed for the slavers' main hiding place, the rest of his team took care of the four remaining passengers. They had orders to capture and enslave each one of the Xenns. Xenn were namely a rare and therefore valuable commodity on the slave market. "If the bums fight back and cause problems, kill them all except the young one. The goods on the ship already bring us enough money on the black market, guys! So make sure, that not all of you die!" mentioned the voice of the squad leader through the coms of the ship.

The four Xenn were entrenched in one of the few quarters and were ready to give their all. Even if it meant that they had to give their lives. Sol´Maru’s father had given a short speech of encouragement earlier. When the slavers stormed into the room, they saw nothing at first. That was obvious, because the Xenn had made themselves invisible. However, the slavers were not stupid. They knew the skills of the Xenn. In spite of everything, this little moment of doubt was enough for a surprise attack for the four Xenns. However, since they had no firearms, unlike their opponents, they had to use their melee skills. So they managed to slaughter some of the Slavers in a bloody way. Even Sol'Maru managed to kill two of them, even if he was still very agitated by his adrenaline rush. However, their luck didn't last forever and the tide of the battle turned quickly. When the first Xenn fell to the ground due to too many gunshot wounds, it started to look bad for the trader and his son. In the end it sadly came to the point, where Sol´Maru noticed just how his father was kicked and shot by three slavers. Then came the blow to the back of the neck that knocked him out.

The next time Sol'Maru woke up, he found himself on a secluded campsite of a forested planet. He had been chained up and put in a cell with some other slaves. His feelings overturned. The hatred of the Slavers, the grief over his father's death, the confusion of everything happening, the will not to give up and the fear of losing everything. Before Sol'Maru was able for sale on the market with the other slaves, he was hidden for two weeks in the camp, so that the slavers could rule out that someone was looking for them. In these two weeks of agony, dirty tasks and humiliations, Sol´Maru's mental state deteriorated a lot. It went to the point where he gradually didn't care about anything. The name of the group that kidnapped him was the "Zuvo-Gang". This was a name that burned into Sol'Maru's memory. The only good thing that didn't fade in his head was his dream, which he had cherished since the beginning of the trip. And the food the slaves got was surprisingly pretty good too. So there were two things that didn't make the young Xenn lose heart.

Towards the end of the second week, his motivation to change his current situation had grown to the point, that the Xenn secretly made escape plans in his head and tried to make friends among his fellow slaves to help them escape. So he quickly became acquainted with some of the slaves and even made friends with some: A female human Xena Alxa and a male krogan named Flugar Nakk. The multi-cultural trio then did not hesitate and started their somewhat bumpy coordinated escape plan on an evening, where most gang members were outside the hiding place. First Xena, with her admittedly pretty human body, caused a distraction for the guards. She even got them so far, that they briefly opened the cell door hail-wide. At that moment, the krogan shattered his already broken handcuffs with brute force and attacked the distracted guards. He literally threw himself at the two unsuspecting Batarians with a roar. Then Sol'Maru sneaked out of the cell -invisible of course- and grabbed the keys that hung from a wall a little further away from the cell, just like in one of those cheap action movies. It was a small, acrobatic feat to get those keys off the wall with those damn handcuffs. But when the Xenn freed himself, chaos had begun to spread through the whole camp already. Logically, a slave revolt started against their kidnappers. Many of the slaves were killed, but some escaped the Zuvo gang. Including the three new friends. However, the Xenn never even thought about going home again. He wanted to take revenge on the Zuvo Gang. For his father and for what was done to all the slaves, including himself. Flugar and Xena happily decided to help him.

However, they had no equipment or other means to use against the Zuvo gang. So a plan had to be forged again. The bottom line was that they decided to carry out a somewhat protracted plan. The trio first sought refuge, which they then found in an abandoned building. Then they would use some illegal or bizarre activities, such as theft, prostitution and murder, to get some money to get the missing equipment, in addition to what they had already acquired through these criminal acts. Even if all of this sometimes didn't go as smoothly as it should, the three managed to equip themselves enough to counterattack the head of the Zuvo gang. The location of the target person was also not difficult to determine, since Sol`Maru had previously sneaked back into the slave camp to spy on the the gang's future plans. At the side of the leader of the Zuvos was also the former co-pilot and squad leader of the Slavers, who had once attacked Sol'Maru's father. Just one more reason for the Xenn and his two accomplices to launch an attack on the Zuvo-Gang.

The leader had planned a meeting in a bar in the capital city of the planet. Why? The trio didn't care. Revenge was the only thing in their young minds. In any case, they made sure that they were in the bar before the Zuvos arrived and sat at a table. The three knew that it could well be that they could fail in their attack and that everyone would die. But since none of them had anything to lose, they had festively decided with a last drink that they would put everything on one card this evening. Then the moment came when the Zuvos entered the bar. The Xenn got up, cracked his neck and released the safety of his firearm. Before they approached the gang, Sol'Maru could swear, that he could hear somebody yelling outside. But he did not mind, since he had already taken aim with his gun and fired the first plasmarounds at the first unsuspecting slaver. The rest is history.

Shortcut's Life, since then

Shortcut doesn't really know much, or better said, nothing of his life before the accident. And even the accident itself does not really ring a bell. The only thing he knows, is what he was able to find was the obvious and any memory, that he could have related to any personal object. That means he knows that he was and still is a Xenn who has not been in his home world Relvan for a long time. He also appears to have followed many criminal activities and to have earned his living that way. At least that's what some pale memories tell him. Family, relatives and friends are also things that do not seem to occur to him. At least he has no pictures or other material memories of people, who were important to him in his previous life. So he was a loner, who wasn't too bad for getting his hands dirty here and there to get what was needed. Shortcut was of course not his real name. This is more of a nickname that some people had chosen for him, after he became a professional bountyhunter and which he had ultimately adopted. The Xenn is in conflict with himself, whether he wants to find out more about his past and his origin or whether he should just leave things as they are. But becoming a bountyhunter was certainly one of his smarter decisions in life. With his very unique skillset, he quickly made a name for himself.

Though the first moment that Shortcut can clearly remember was when he woke up, from what felt like an eternal sleep, in a laboratory. Well, it felt more like a blatant hangover. But after a few seconds, he realized that things were a little different. Not just something. Everything was different. His body felt so unfamiliar. However, at the same time he couldn't really remember, how it should feel. Shortcut still had a severe headache from the operation and his vision was still a little vague. Suddenly a doctor burst into the room and asked the Xenn to lie down again. Shortcut, however, only insisted that he be told what was happening to him here. He looked a little aroundin the laboratory, only to see blood stains, cybernetics, prostheses and other tools scattered throughout the room. This worried the Xenn and made him invisible out of instinctive reflex. Everything was so new and sudden for Shortcut.

He didn't give himself time to wonder about his body though, because he felt threatened. Meanwhile, the doctor panicked and shouted, that a lockdown should be initiated. That probably meant that Shortcut had to get out of there as quickly as possible. But not without getting at least a piece of information. So as he was still invisibly wandering through the large laboratory, which had many rooms and employed several workers, it seemed like he was in one of those labs, that were used to conduct illegal and immoral experiments on living victims. But weapons also seemed to be made there, or at least the Xenn found a room in which experimental-looking weapons were stored. Each of these weapons seemed unique. So Shortcut grabbed a sniper, which immediately caught his eye for an inexplicable reason.

Shortcut had long lost sight of the doctor who seemed to be treating him. He didn't care, however. He sneaked into an office, rendered the crew there harmless and rummaged through all the computers, folders and data in order to learn something about himself. But in vain, because before something could be found, the lockdown began. All the lights went out, alarm lights went on and a roaring horn sounded rhythmically through the corridors. All doors and windows also started to block with a metal wall. So shortcut had to get out of there as quickly as possible, otherwise he would probably be killed.. or worse. When the alarm went off, Shortcut was startled because he was concentrating on a PC screen. At that moment, long, sharp claws suddenly sprang from the tips of his fingers and toes. The Xenn paused, astonished. Still not full realizing, that his body was truned into a living weapon, he rushed towards the closing exit to leave the facility. He just barely managed to escape the building after killing some more workers and overwriting the lockdown with a self-destruct code before it blew up.

Many years had passed since then and Shortcut, as it is now known, is now a notorious bounty hunter with a high success rate. He usually receives his orders from only one source. He carries them out with the highest precision and thus earns his living. Does he enjoy this lifestyle? You bet.

The Xenn
a fandom race I added to the Mass Effect universe

The Xenn are by nature a very peaceful race and are home to the rocky planet Relvan. In general, the Xenn are known for their trade routes and good influence on the economy. So there are very few or none of the Xenns who are purely military or strategic.

There are exceptions here and there, of course, especially since the breed has a body that is very well developed for combat. Pointed, sharp and above all long claws on the tips of fingers and toes, reptile-like, robust skin, long limbs and quick reflexes. They can also use their active camouflage to hide from dangers or such.

Their culture is also very important to them. It is based on tolerance towards those who think differently and follows the motto "You can only judge something if you know it". That is why the Xenn are very open to strangers and also very curious. However, that is why they have been used by other breeds or classified as weak and naive. But despite all these negative factors, the residents of Relvan remain peaceful as much as possible. However, if you attack what is important to them, they fight against it with unbound strength and determined will.

Facts

System:
carpax fog, terminus system

Homeworld:
Relvan

Age ranges:
1 - 8 children
9 - 20 teenagers
21 - 35 Young adult
36 - 54 adults
55 - 110 Old iron

Optical:
Exoskeleton-like body, long limbs, dark, reptile-like skin (brown - red), tail, long claws one their feet
and hands, black slit eyes, varying number of horns on the head with a variable appearance.

Shortcut0.jpg

Culture:
All of the towns on Relvan have been built into the far-reaching, high cliffs of the planet. It's an underground system, that connects the entire cities
with almost innumerable tunnels. Since the Xenn are a very curious and goodhearted race, they travel often and maintain a lot of contact with others
races. However, since the Xenn only have their home on Relvan and are not strongly represented anywhere else, it is very rare
that one of them can be found outside the home planet and the usual trade routes.

The Xenn do not think much of politics in the galaxy, as they are open to all non-radical species.
That is why they are also one of the few races that do not yet have an embassy on the Citadel.
So the Xenn are only bound by their own laws, which only exist in Relvan.
However, there are certain ranks and hierarchies in their society.

Any opinions and/or questions are very welcome!
Also, if you read through it all: You are awesome. <3
And yes, this is a character mainly created for Mass Effect Roleplays, but I'm sure I can squish him into any sci-fi RP.
