Dagfinn
Maid Of Doom
So @Atom and I wrote this awhile back, and I've never written a lot of love stories. So I was wondering how people feel about this.
I haven't edited at all since it was first written up, so I'm sure I could probably fix some of the errors myself. However I want to know what people think in it's original form. Thanks ^~^
Liltha sat quietly in a empty frame of a window as she looked down over the star lighten city. The harsh wind blowing passed through her hair and she grinned softly as she thought to herself. That night she had yet again broken into the castle, her seventh time in a row. It, she quickly found, was not nearly as hard as most would assume. Though she hadn't taken anything before while going in, she just enjoyed the views that she got from so high up and the thrill of just being where she shouldn't. The only thing she did do there that was visible was leave a Lily in the window frame that she had left from. The night, as usual, seemed peaceful and silent, until the cold steel of a blade lightly poked the side of her neck, "Turn slowly..." A deep voice said.
Lilitha didn't turn to face him, for a moment it seemed that she did not notice him at all. Eventually she spoke up with a soft and calm tone, "lovely night, is it not?"
"Indeed...now turn." The voice demanded again, lightly poking her again.
"For such a serene and tranquil night..." Lilitha started gently, "the stars seem to be curiously boisterous in their cries for attention, no?"
"Indeed, now turn please..." he said.
Lilitha sat there in the window soaking in a moment in contemplation, as if she did not hear him. Still after a moment she did turned to face him. Her eyes looked to him softly, with a slight smile on the corners of her lips. Lilitha seemed to see him perfectly as though her eyes mirrored his heart and soul, most unlike the natural likeness of a door eyes seem to hold. She took a moment to look over him, to figure something.
"You're not actually listening," she commented softly.
"Am I not?" he asked, pulling the sword away.
"You do not think to answer, instead ungracefully spit up your words outright," she gave a slight pause in thought, then noted, "and you have not even looked out the window yet."
"You mis-assume, I have looked out the window, as for answering, my words are measured in order to hide my thoughts, and obviously, as you have displayed a knack for picking things up, it was a smart choice." He said.
"Oh, then I misjudged you, I didn't peg you for a man that would describe an impending storm as 'lovely' or 'serene'. Though I find the clamor and trembling of the skies fascinating, that is not quite how I would characterize it," she responded, turning back just a slight bit to look over the horizon. The impending storm though far off, would most likely reach the city before it died.
"Nature, no matter how violent, is beautiful, as well as the naturality of the storm, and the balance it creates is serene. And I for one find the lightning created within such storms a lovely sight." He said.
The women turn to face him again, a sly smile on her face this time. "I'm glad you agree with me."
"Mhm...so I am to assume you are the one who has been leaving the lily's?" He asked.
"Why would you assume such a thing?" She asked.
"You're where they are usually left...and here." He said.
Lilitha smiled softly, "I find them a fine sight to see amongst all the cold hard stone."
Lilitha reached into her pocket and pulled out a soft white lilly, handing it to him.
"For you, fine sir," she said.
The man looked at it a moment, and then up at her with an odd look on his face.
Lilitha gave him an odd two fingered wave, and then slipped out of the window ceil before he could stop her. The fall would kill almost anyone, but when he looked down he couldn't see her at all. She was like a dream, and all he was left with was a flower.
Lilitha came back to the window every and always let her solitary flower on the way out. Though Artemis had made a point to try to catch her to talk to her she always seemed to allude him. He only managed to catch her every seven days, at which she always seemed to be sitting there in the window waiting for him.
The chatted idly about many things, and just when he thought he had managed to figure her out she would throw a curve ball and him. Forcing him to reevaluate everything he ever thought. They chatted about almost everything under the sun except about her specifically. It wasn't until there seventh meet up that he finally weaseled a name out of her.
After there seventh meet up she let him catch her every three days rather than seven.
The two grew rather close to one another through their talks, despite Lilitha's secrets and endless frustrations that she often gave Artemis.
And after three months time she let him see her every night. Sometimes they talked for hours late into the night, and sometimes they could only talk for a few minutes. Though every time it ended with Lilitha getting the last word and leaving before he could stop her. This continued for a year and not matter what he did Artemis couldn't get anything about her history or even daily life, this made him both frustrated and curious over the time.
It had been exactly a year since they had first met and they were chatting like normal, though Artemis seemed distracted and a bit distant. Lilitha cut him off in the middle of his talking, "are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine." Artemis responded.
Lilitha looked over him, not believing him but letting the matter go.
The two talked for a little bit longer, then Lilitha gave her odd wave goodbye and started slipping out the window.
Artemis lunged forward, grabbing her arm, "Lilitha I love you." He blurted before his mind could convince him not to say it.
Lilitha looked up at him, and for the first time ever she had genuine surprise on her face. She pulled herself back up into the window and hesitated a moment.
"Wh... What?" she asked.
"I....I love you...." He repeated, his face breaking out in an apprehensive sweat.
Lilitha hesitated a moment in comprehension, then a soft unexpected smile crept onto her face.
"I love you too," she said gently.
"R-really?" He asked, surprised.
"Yes really," she answered calmly, leaning in slightly in compilation.
Artemis blinked a few times, a bit stunned that her feelings were the same as he found himself leaning towards her slightly.
"Do you know what today is?" she asked slyly.
"Uhm...no..." he said.
"Today is the anniversary of when we first met," she answered.
"Oh...it is...." he said, thinking back.
She leaned in a little bit, "and something else..."
"What..." he asked slowly.
Lilitha leaned in and softly kissed him on the cheek.
Artemis took a slow breath, looking at her.
Lilitha pulled back with a slight smile, gave him a wave and left before he could say anything else.
The two continued to meet nightly, their love growing with time, and even though Artemis never could figure her out he found his love for her even stronger. The day came when Artemis, after much contemplation, asked her to be his bride, and to his joy she accepted, and within the week the two were married.
After the two were married Lilitha started to open up to him about her past a little bit, but she still kept many secrets to keep him guessing. And though she did move into the castle, she seemed to come and go as she please completely undetected.
