This RP takes place in a fantasy world, created by myself, called Shigerumi. The world is based off asian architecture and styles, and it's a beautiful world. Plant-life and vegetation is all around, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere for the people that inhabit the world of Shigerumi. It doesn't stay like this though. The peace and beauty will be destroyed by a race of monsters known as the Akuryo - demons from a mysterious dimension. With the power of their magic - called Baiji - they created a rift to travel to another dimension. The Akuryo had to escape their dying world - Hakaizou - fearing that a time would come when their world would cease to exist. What they didn't understand was that they were the catalyst for their dying world, so wherever they went, destruction would surely find it's way there. The Akuryo began an immediate take over of the humans' world, quickly destroying most of the world's beauty. The samurai - the human protectors of their world - faced off against the Akuryo, trying their best to drive them back. Over the years, they've been unsuccessful, losing countless men, women, and children to the Akuryo. The undisputed leader, and tyrant, of the Akuryo, Osamu, left no human alive that stood before his band of monsters.
Now, 50 years after the appearance of the Akuryo, the humans have lost half of the continent to these demons. The whole western half, called Makomi, is under Akuryo control; although there are several small civilizations of human life that have hidden away in the far corners of Makomi. The eastern half, named Komako, is the half still in control by the humans, just by a thread. Osamu sends forces at random to Komako, trying a full-scale take-over of Komako; but he's been unsuccessful thus far. The samurai got strong enough to keep the Akuryo somewhat under control, learning to harness the power of these demons. With the help of a traitorous Akuryo - who aren't all bad as is with every civilization - the samurai learned how to steal Baiji, or magical power, from the Akuryo; however, not everyone is compatible. Due to the fact that only a small amount of the humans can actually use the stolen Baiji, they haven't been able to take back their lands to the west. Are you going to fight for Shigerumi and help return it to it's former beauty and peace; or are you out to take over the once peaceful world with the destructive Akuryo? You decide.
This is basically really quick summary about my RP. If you have ANY questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Keep reading, though, I'll be listing more information below, and will update this thread periodically with new or changed information.
RACES
Akuryo: All Akuryo obviously aren't the same, but they all possess the ability to use Baiji. There are distinctive things in an Akuryo's appearance, as well, such as the presence of horns on their head, and a demonic tail. More powerful Akuryo have wings, and their horns appear much larger in size. Every Akuryo also has the unique ability to use minor transformation abilities, such as hiding their demonic appearance (eyes, tail, wings, horns, etc.). A transformed Akuryo will revert to their original appearance if they start using their Baiji, as it's something that channels their true power. Akuryo have a life-span that far exceeds that of the humans, the average being about five centuries.
Humans: Self-explanatory, I would hope? They do NOT have Baiji; however, due to research, and with the help of an Akuryo named Rugetsu, they learned how to steal Baiji from the Akuryo. It's something that allows them to rip one ability from the Akuryo, killing the demon instantly. Humans aren't able to use Baiji nearly as well as the Akuryo, though; after continued uses of it, they become tired very quickly, making it a not-so-wise tactic to use in battle. (Note: Humans can NOT steal the ability to transform from the Akuryo. It is impossible for humans to use such an ability.) ***More info on Baiji down below***
Uryoman: The VERY rare mix between a human and an Akuryo. A half-breed, in the truest sense. Uryoman are only born between a male Akuryo and female human, impossible for it to happen the other way around. Uryoman appear almost exactly like humans, with the exception of tattoos that cover their body and demon-like eyes. The tattoos stand as symbols of the Uryoman's demon-father, altered in ways unknowing depending on the Uryoman's mother. Uryoman can NOT transform; however, they are born with the ability to use Baiji like the akuryo. Uryoman, over time, can grow to become more demonic through the ingesting of akuryo blood, a sin by any standard. Their appearance becomes altered and distorted, but their power and ability to use Baiji more efficiently increases exponentially. Uryoman have a life-span that's longer than a humans', but shorter than that of an akuryo. The average is around two and a half centuries.
BAIJI
These are magical powers Akuryo and Uryoman are born with, things that can range anywhere from manipulation of elements; or enhanced strength, reflexes, stamina, etc. Akuryo have an ability of Baiji that's unique to them only, and that's the ability to perform minor transformations on their appearance. As powerful as Baiji is, it cannot be spammed, it has a limit. If you over-exert yourself, you'll collapse and be unable to continue in combat. A long period of rest is needed in order to return back to form. Akuryo can use Baiji more often than Uryoman and Humans, taking them longer to become exhausted. Humans have the least amount of stamina when it comes to using Baiji, making it risky for them to use it often. Now I'm going to list two things that will be on the sign up, and explain how humans can use Baiji.
Inherent Baiji: This is Baiji that your character is born with, meaning it's limited to only Akuryo and Uryoman.
Acquired Baiji: This is Baiji that your character has taken from an Akuryo. Acquired Baiji can be used by all races, but the process to acquire it affects humans only. Rugetsu, a traitorous Akuryo, created an enormous multi-colored cube - made from most of Rugestu's Baiji power. The cube, called Takuetsu Shita, was stored deep underground in the small city of Daiko, unknowingly to most. The cube has special powers that absorbs the Baiji from others through a process called Baiji Death Shredder. With a special dagger - created by Rugetsu and stored in the underground chamber with the Takuetsu Shita - you cut off a tiny piece of the cube, which reforms into an oval shape after you cut it off. After you cut it off, you need to use the dagger to slice open the piece so that power starts leaking out of it; however, this is power that can be set off in a horrible explosion if Baiji is used on it, thus killing you. In order for the small piece of the Takuetsu Shita to absorb the power from an Akuryo it must come in contact with the blood of the demon while it's power is being leaked. Once they make contact, all of the Akuryo's blood is drawn right out of there body, into the cube - this kills the Akuryo instantly. After the blood is drawn into the piece of Takuetsu Shita, you ingest it, then you die. Most people don't make it to the next stage, rebirth, where you awaken after a few days; however, if you do make it, the Takuetsu Shita plus the blood of the Akuryo mixes with your own blood, and this grants you the ability to use two of their Baiji that are randomly bestowed upon you. The process is grueling and can leave you left for dead, giving only a 50% chance of success, which is why most people tend not to steal Baiji.
If you have ANY questions about Baiji, don't hesitate to ask. This section MAY face changes during the course of the RP.
***NOTE: I'm going to be lenient when it comes to the Baiji techniques you guys make. Just don't go too over-the-top, no god-modding, no one-shot-kill techniques. I hold the right to reject ideas as the RP creator. Be creative!***
Towns/Cities
Makomi: Western half of Shigerumi, country of the Akuryo.
~Gankyoumi: This is the capital of Makomi, the area where the Akuryo carry out most of their operations and where it's leaders reside.
-Sorami: Small town in Makomi, this is where the Akuryo forge most of their weapons. A large and blackened crater is smack in the middle of the town, with a storm of fire laying inside of it.
-Kentami: Larger town than Sorami in Makomi, but much more chaotic. This is the new home to most of the Akuryo, creating an insane atmosphere, and an appearance of destruction wherever you go within the town's borders.
Komako: Eastern half of Shigerumi, country of the Samurai
~Naoko: Capital of Komako - the city where the humans carry out their own operations and where the Senators (the leaders, and strongest of the Samurai) live. Naoko has retained it's beauty, being untouched from Akuryo blood-stained hands thus far.
-Hiroko: A small, peaceful town in Komako that has retained it's beauty even after the Akuryo invaded Shigerumi. It's the area best suited for growing crops and doing trade, so despite the fact that the town is small, it's always busy.
-Daiko: A large town in Komako, home of the Takuetsu Shita. Also home of Rugetsu - who's secretly been hiding from humans because a lot of them still don't trust him. Daiko also has retained much of it's beauty as well as Hiroko and Naoko. Serves as a weapons crafting town.
