Easily Distracted
Hook/Intro: In a world governed by Gods and Magics, something is wrong with the world. Good is supposed to triumph over evil, and look bad-ass doing it, but in this world, the exact opposite has happened. The laws of the universe have been corrupted, but the universe fights back. Through the cracks of this shattered timeline, the true story leaks through, but neither the new story nor the old will be able to unfold without help.
Basic Plot: There was a time where the world was a classic storybook fairy-tale, and maybe even a little bit more perfect. The heroes did their thing, improving the world, stopping the bad guys, you know the deal. Which was great, until something went wrong. Even the Gods didn't foresee a mere mortal doing what he did. A sorcerer, one who controls their magic with emotion and talent, shattered the timeline. In this new timeline, nearly everything that could benefit "the baddies" did, and nearly everything that would ruin the heroes life does. Time doesn't like being altered however, and the true timeline starts to seep through the cracks in the form of memories and bursts of uncontrolled magic. The more distanced from the old timeline something is, the more likely it is to be affected. And our heroes are very, very much distanced from the old timeline. I'll write the beginning of the plot, as well as any "milestone" posts, but while there will be an end goal, anything and everything in the middle will be determined by us, and what we think it should be.
Setting: A high fantasy setting wouldn't be complete without violence, poverty, corruption, and the like, so be on the lookout for that. When I first had this idea, it was for a DnD 3.5e/Pathfinder campaign, so as it starts it will most likely take inspiration from those worlds and systems before we craft it into our own. Expect Castles, Villages, Wizards, and Knights, the whole shebang. Magic is relatively common, but heavily regulated. The conjuring of magic can lead to splits between realities forming, so most people relegate to using enchanted items or tools for the same tasks. A weaker form of magic, but much, much safer. There are many races (some that I've chosen, and I'll probably let you people add a few if I like them), with many different cultures, languages, and governments. They're spread out over the continent of Exchius, a continent about the size of North America, with dense forests, vast deserts, and snowy peaks.
Basic Characters: You'll have to write two versions of your characters, but one of them won't be that fleshed out. First you're going to Mary Sue it up, writing a character who's powerful, awesome, and great in every way. Unlike some Mary Sue's, don't give them a trying past, their past should be almost as awesome as they are! But then, of course, you need to rewrite them as a real character. Make a character with struggles, flaws, and weakness. You should be able to just change a few key things from your characters past that turn them into a genuine person. There should be a lot of contrasting, almost opposites between the two characters. For example, the Mary Sue that's so awesome because of their childhood friends is an outcast, or because of their upbringing, loses their guardians. It probably sounds way more intimidating than it is.
Looking for:
- Around 3 - 5 people.
- People who can post at least once a week.
- People who would like to help create a world and story rather than just be put into one.
- People who can write at least a decent paragraph. Posts don't have to be super long, but with a week in between posts, they should at least be quality.
- People who don't know how active they can be, but would still like to help out with world building or controlling NPC's.
- People who can use Discord. If you can't it's fine, there'll still be a OoC thread. But I am readily available on Discord, so having others that can use the platform would be a plus.
Other than that, if there's enough interest, by the end of the week after we have enough people I'll post the two page prologue I wrote when this was still a DnD plot for my friends (they didn't bite), start a discord server, start a lore page, and hopefully characters not too long after that.
