Nothingness
Two Thousand Club
Haven, a city of demons, built off a fragile peace that has lasted for centuries between the demons and humans. Long ago, four powerful demons came to the human world in seek of refuge, rather than go into hiding and to torment mortals as many of their brethren have, these four demons took more of a diplomatic stance. Requesting audience with the many of the Worlds' Leaders, they asked to form their own territory far off from any other civilization so that any other demons seeking refuge could come and find it there. The four demons had stated that they would be sure to report all information to all the World's Leaders to prove their peaceful intentions, this would be the beginning of the city known as Haven. This would prove beneficial to the four demons as decades passed and eventually the city's construction was completed. The city was built into five sections, one being a Neutral Zone and the other four belonging individually to each of the four demons who were soon known amongst its occupants as the four Founders. As time passed and peace reigned amongst the city of the Haven and the outside world, eventually even humans began to come to sign up to live as citizens within the city of demons.
Unbeknownst to the Founders as well as the other demon citizens of Haven, although the World Leaders had accepted Haven and its demons as peaceful, it did not mean that everyone on Earth accepted this same conclusion. This was especially so for those that were devout, while it was not known to the public, a new organization had been in the works of being formed. This was eventually known to be The Ash Wolves, although it is believed that it once held a different name during its founding. This organization has been known as demon hunters or exterminators, their primary goal has been to supposedly cleanse the unpure and unholy from the land and to them no matter how peaceful demons say they are, they will always be evil spirits that must be purged in the holy name of God. While their ranks started small, they have expanded and grew in size as the years have gone by, attempting to recruit more followers that believe in their cause to one day take on the main city of Haven and destroy it for good.
At first, the founders were unaware of the presence of the Ash Wolves because of their actions of hunting down and killing demons outside of the city being as secretive and kept out of the public's knowledge as it was. However, as time progressed and their organization grew, the group had finally started to target even demons that worked professionally with humans outside of the city's walls. Once this was common knowledge, when the Founders had addressed this issue with World Leaders, they were informed that they would investigate and do what they could, but it could not be guaranteed that they could completely stop the killings as it was a similar issue even with human population with human crime groups who hunted and killed other innocent humans just the same. With no actual support from World Leaders, the founders had begun to take matters into their own hands, sending out bodyguards with all businessmen and women that were of demon race so that if they were to be attacked, then at least they would be protected.
With this new tactic, everything had gone by somewhat successful. It was to the point that centuries continued to pass and eventually the Founders deaths came from usual natural causes and a new generation has come to rise in their wake. With the new generation of demons running and ruling over Haven, many were skeptical whether or not these new faces would be able to live up to their predecessors. For the first century or so, they proved themselves time and time again and eventually the citizens of Haven came to accept them properly as their new leaders.
Everything seemed to have been going smoothly until a sudden unexpected day arrived. Black Rose, one of the four clans that ruled over Haven, had sent out a diplomat to attempt and make peace with the Ash Wolves. Although they were sent with a larger number of guards this time than with any other business meeting, nearly halfway to their destination, all contact was lost with the vessel they had taken, the last bit of communication that could be heard from the group was gunfire and screams before all communication was cutoff. The worse was believed, the four leaders deemed that it was the Ash Wolves deceiving them, drawing on their attempts of peace to eliminate a diplomat to try and incite violence from the demons.
Even with the agreement that this was an act of direct violence and attempts of the call for war from the Ash Wolves, the four leaders all seemed to have different views on the matter. Black Rose wanted to try and de-escalate the issue to avoid further unneeded bloodshed between both sides and that something else could be done. Bloody Moon wanted the violence, they wanted to attack and wanted the war to start. Ravinca began to hoard its resources, believing that if a war was starting or if the Ash Wolves were becoming so bold, they would need to keep supplies for the city's survival if they were to ever go into lockdown even if temporarily. Serpent's Kiss on the other hand tried to attempt and keep the citizens of Haven under control rather than pick any sides, it did not take long for the citizens to find out that one of their diplomats were killed and panic was getting to set in that someone of such importance was killed by the seemingly terrorist group.
The truth was however, the Ash Wolves had nothing to do with the slaughtering of the convey for the meeting but they were aware of it. Rather than give any answers or to explain themselves, they took advantage of the confusion amongst the demons and instead attempted to rally and tighten their grip onto other human communities while recruiting more people to their cause.
Just as war seemed to be right on the edge of occurring between Haven and the Ash Wolves, an unexpected yet important bit of information suddenly came up at the very last moment. Days after the slaughter, a lone survivor from the slaughter returned to Haven. He explained at the attack had happened so quickly but informed that the attack was not from that of humans nor demons. It was not the Ash Wolves that attacked them. Whatever attacked the convey was unlike anything they had ever seen, shadowy creatures, glowing eyes, whispers in the minds that corrupted peoples' minds causing them to attack one another.
With information about a new threat coming to light, the four leaders had cut their acts to start war short. This was a third party and one that was neither human nor demon. What was to be done now, did the Ash Wolves create some sort of new weapon, were they being betrayed by the World Leaders, so many questions, and no answers.
Would this be the end of Haven?
