SHANGRI-LA
The Beginning
an artsy, hole-in-the-wall bar where all walks of life convene at the end of a long day to loosen up with old friends or drink away the evening's sorrows. though there is no sign in the alley where the establishment resides, the bar's word-of-mouth form of marketing attracts the perfect sort of patrons to match the rather elaborate interior.
it was here at the bar's long tables that six young patrons spent four long summers and winters by each others' sides after class, only to find themselves falling out and apart as they grew in their own ways and school became a distant memory.
it's here, in this eclectic collection of hanging plants, neon lights and lime wedges, that our morally ambiguous characters began their journey together. and it's here, after an invitation is sent out from the bar's elderly owner, that it will inevitably come to its tipping point.
Roles
The Chef: after a lifetime of being told she was too timid to make a name for herself, the chef decided to battle her fear of people and pursue her true passion: cooking. with only a few years of expertise under her belt, however, she was able to score no more than a line cook gig at the local chinese restaurant. despite constantly getting stepped all over, she has worked diligently to show her potential, aiming to fill the role of sous chef by the end of the year and prove to those that supported her that she can hold her own.
The Big Shot: the director of partnerships and son of the ceo at a tech company, the big-shot is an arrogant man who doesn't really care for his job. the only reason he competed so hard to get to his position was to prove that he wasn't letting his dad hand him the title for free. now, in his mid-twenties with nothing left to prove, he desperately wants to reconnect with the friends heβd lost contact with as a way to cure the loneliness plaguing his soul.
The Fashion Designer: deeply scarred from her years in the industry, the fashion designer is a ride or die for the causes she believes in, often using sex and flirtation to worm her way into the interests of anyone that could be of use to her. after moving to the states directly out of school and establishing the renowned clothing brand FFATE, she has dominated the world of fashion and left a trail of broken hearts, scarred minds, and burnt bridges in her path.
The Teacher: an embodiment of wholesomeness, the teacher took the kind and caring nature everyone knew him for as a teenager and put it towards pursuing a degree in education. now three years out of university, heβs begun teaching elementary school students, and to no one's surprise, has become everyoneβs favorite teacher. seeing his students with their friends everyday makes him miss his own and he longs for a chance to reunite with them.
The Idol: a whirlwind of talent who has been singing, dancing and performing since she could walk, the idol found herself thrown into fame after being scouted by AVA while in high school and debuting with MYST.eria a few years later. with a recently completed world tour in the books, she canβt wait for a few months of down time to take a trip down memory lane and reunite with old friends.
The Athlete: the definition of a born athlete, heβs been on the move since birth. signed up for all sorts of recreational sports when he was of age, he soon became the star of each team. after discovering his true sport passion, he began practicing at every moment (when not in school), yet still found the time to go to shangri-la and see his friends. though now a professional athlete, he still makes the time to contact those close to him and revisit the place where it all began.
