Shadowflight13 & Narumi

Narumi

Five Thousand Club
Eighteen year old Luna was currently out of high school. She had moved homes, and was currently living with her roomate, Melissa. She had been living there for a few months now, and was not looking for a job as she was currently studying wildlife. Melissa found wildlife boring, and often reminded her that she could be doing better things with her good looks, like modelling, dating or raising a family. She just laughs, and always brushes off the fact that she was beautiful in any way. She wasn't ugly, but she was just ordinary. Nothing special in her eyes.

Since they were running low on groceries, she headed outside.

Dirk was walking on the other side of the street with his head down, a hood pulled up over his head to hide his face. His eyes were down, but that didn't prevent him from noticing her when she appeared. He could smell Luna from where he was, a sweet mixture of blood and something green. Her heartbeat, too, was enticing, a steady drum vibrating through the ground to where he stood. He raised his head to take a look, shaggy black hair falling in front of his face to hide startling red eyes. Without really thinking about it, he decided to follow her-- discreetly, of course. For now, he continued walking, able to tell exactly where she was by sound and scent.

Luna wanders into the shop, picking out some of the supplies they needed. She pays for them, taking them in some bags as she left the store, she sat on a bench for a few minutes, feeding a few pigeons. Shortly, a group of some young men approached her, she looks away, trying to focus on the pigeons.

"She's a cute one" One of them said.

"Yes, what are you doing all alone sweetie?" Another asked, sitting beside her and taking the bird seeds from her hands.

Dirk, who'd followed at a distance all the way to the shop, and then hung around outside, was now casually leaning against a tree a short distance away. He stiffened at the site of the men, standing up straighter. His hands clenched into fists in the pockets of his hoodie, but he waited. Perhaps they would leave, perhaps she knew them. It wouldn't do to make a scene without proper reason, he told himself sternly. He struggled with himself for a moment, no longer giving any pretenses about looking at them.

Luna gasps as one of the men grabs hold of her hand, "Our car is just over there, we are going to be throwing a party and we need a girl there, there will just be a few drinks, you can come and stay" One of the men says, pulling her upwards and dragging her towards a car.

Dirk could feel her accelerated heartbeat through the ground. Time to step in. Carefully controlling his speed to a mortal level, he took a few quick strides to block the men's path. "Let her go. I don't think she wants any part in your party." His voice was cold. With his hoodie on, it wasn't clear just how strong he was. He wasn't any taller than the tallest of the men, either. But looks could be deceiving.

Luna watches, the men argue between themselves and then realise that she wasn't worth going to the party.

"Who cares, she's nothing special. You can have her, lover boy" One of the guys joke and shove her towards him. He leads the men back to his car and drives off.

Dirk moved without thinking, yanking his hands out of his pocket to catch her. He quickly set her upright and let go, moving back a step. Her scent was on his skin and in his nose and it was incredibly luring. Surprisingly, he felt no urge to bite her. Those men, however... But no, if he was still in this town by the time he needed to feed, he could almost certainly find someone worse to kill. "Are you all right?" Dirk asked her without meeting her eyes, shaking his hair down in front of his face to cover it again.

Luna nods slightly and then quickly moved to pick up her shopping bags. She looks to him and smiles lightly. "Thank you. The world deserves more men like you" She says softly, blushing and then began to wander in the direction of where she lived.

Dirk didn't smile back, and scowled instead. Men like him... If only she knew, she wouldn't say that. He wasn't even a man, not really. 'Monster' might be more accurate. "You're welcome." He grunted under his breath, as she walked away. It would be harder to follow her now that she'd recognize him, but for some odd reason he still wanted to. Her scent was so enchanting... And she wasn't too hard on the eyes, either. He began to walk quickly in the opposite direction, but when he turned the corner he took another street, so he ended up in an alley near her house. Then he waited.

Luna wanders inside and was greeted by Melissa at the doorstep.

"Where were you? Thought you left the planet! Took you forever, just to get a few groceries'" Melissa jokes and hugs her gently.

Luna just shook her head and smiles. "Long que" She says, giggling.

Dirk waited until she was inside the house before moving a little closer, skulking out of view of any of the windows. He could feel her heartbeat still, and someone else's. He felt himself growing irrationally angry at the thought of another male inside the house, but he forced himself to use his senses-- She lived with another girl, not a man. Of course, that wasn't saying much today, but if she wasn't interested in guys he had no hope whatsoever and he wasn't going to think about that.

Luna began to put the groceries away and looks out of the window. She smiles to herself. She couldn't help but think about the guy in the street. He looked mysterious, but seemed decent. She would've liked to know more about him but she shook her head. He probably already has a girlfriend.

She had never been in a relationship, not even in highschool. But she liked the idea of having a future husband and a family.

Dirk stayed hidden outside for awhile, then left to find a place to sleep for the night. He'd go back in the morning. Maybe, if she left the house again, he could casually meet her on the street or something... That's a bad idea. He thought. What if you lost control? This will never work, god dammit! He told himself sternly. But that didn't stop the fantasies now forming in his head.

Luna began heading outside. She noticed that the guy from earlier was outside and she smiles, waving at him. She didn't seem suspicious, or minded. She was heading out into the forests to draw some wildlife.

"Hey, you live around here?" She asks, softly.

Dirk kept his eyes down and hurried stuffed his hands into his pockets. He didn't want to scare her away. "Sort of. I mean, I do right now. But I wander around a lot." It was difficult to explain without explicitly saying "I can't stay in one place for too long because I kill and eat people." He hurriedly changed the subject. "What's your name?"

Luna smiles warmly at him. "Awesome. I'm Luna. Nice meeting you" She says and shakes his hand. "Wanna go for a walk with me?" She asks him, gently.

"Oh, uh, sure." Dirk said, one hand jumping up to brush his bangs in front of his eyes again. "I'm Dirk." He quickly put his hand back into his pocket, a ring flashing in the sunlight. The band was gold, with a blood colored stone set in the middle. He had an earring to match, too, but it was often hidden by hair. Both had been passed down to him by the one who turned him, as reminders, both of the past and what he was now.
