Senebau's Rebellion

In Caste Book: Dawn, the final entry in the book is about a Dawn Caste named Senebau who is currently fomenting a rebellion within the walls of the Realm.

It says that in the greenhouses, slaves train with mock-weapons awaiting the day they will rise up (probably Tiger Warrior training Technique)

But what happens then?

For that matter, when does it happen?  Does he wait for someone (Kaneko, maybe?) to start an external war with the realm?

Thoughts?

Networking.

Bull of the North. Tensions with Gem and the Paragon, and you lose firedust in the South, Deathlords hanging out in Thorns. Dragon Kings possibly about to wake up in Rathess.  Our boy needs to find himself some contacts outside of the Realm to coordinate efforts, so that the Realm can send out Legions to put down external threats, and then be rocked with slave revolts, as well as splits from within the Great Houses.

Before you start a revolution inside the Realm, you need to split their forces up a bit. Get a bunch of troops the heck out off the Isle, and into somebody else's sights. That way they can't disengage without exposing their forces further.

Solars shouldn't be waiting for events to go their way, but working like hell to MAKE things roll their way. That means networking with other Solars, with Lunars, very naughty Gods and Spirits, even taking advantage of deals that the Deathlords may want to cut.  And definitely work a few angles within the Great Houses as well. Cut them in for some swag, and some immunity.

It means becoming a politician, and a grand schemer, not just a bad ass with a pointy stick. All the slave forces trained up the wazoo aren't going to do anyone any good if they can't be aimed where they'll do the most good. Without some back up, and some kind of distraction to get them there, a slave revolt is doomed, but with some key assistance, and some averted eyes in the right quarters, a slave revolt is going to put a foot up the arse of the Realm, and strand forces that are outside of the Realm without reinforcements save those they can press--and that isn't going to win them many favors, which only makes the position of any allied Solars Lunars, or Abyssals all the sweeter.

I think if Senebau does more than just free himself and the slaves in the same location as him, they'll play it as smart as they can to free other slaves. Depending on how Senebau's built, it might be in him to rally the slaves to fight to win freedom for others and recruit them in some emancipational crusade.

Then again, they're in the heart of the Realm. Though, corruption and infighting is at an all time high. It just might be possible that some of the people in power at the Great Houses are big enough bitches to sit back and cite 'unfortunate delays' in their reinforcements arriving to relieve the forces of a rival house.

I really don't see Senebau doing much immediately but going on an exodus to get his people to somewhere they can set up a community and live freely.

I haven't read the book this is from, but is it ANOTHER fucking Bible ripoff?

Having read the chapter it seems more like he is going for the throne himself with all the stuff about "being close to where the *fun* will start".

My guess is canon wise they will leave that open ended for a while.

In my version of Exalted I would see some Solars failing at their plans, either heading off alone, or biting off more than they can chew.  From what you guys describe this canon character could be one such Solar.  They end up being catalsysts for other Solars to take advantage of.

I woudl imagine somethign a kin to Senebau attacking the Realm with his forces, being trounced, but giving Dace and his perfect circle the distraction they need to pull off some other great and enormous battle.  I could see Bull of the North also using the opportunity to do somehting great.  I don't see that Networking Necessarily has to happen since they all have Divine Guidance if the Unconquered Sun has a plan then things are going to happen for a reason at specific times if the canon npc's interepreet the signs correctly.

psychopath--Indeed. A slave rebellion alone is going to fail. The Realm is just too invested in it, and without some kind of distractions, and assistance, they aren't going to make much more than a dent--say, getting a few folks out, and then setting up some kind of underground.

It's going to take co-ordination. Not just within the Realm, but without.

Where are the slaves going to go? They need a safe haven to escape to.

Setting up an underground first is key. Finding those in the Realm that might either be sypathetic, or at least interested for their own profit or benefit is going to be neccessary. If you really want to be successful, and are a Solar, you are going to want to think bigger than just within one camp.  Getting a small group of slaves out of the Realm is going to require a bit of legwork. Making a rebellion work, that's going to take more than just training folks at night with wooden weapons.

If you're a Solar, you don't need to leave things to chance. You can send emissaries, you can send Spirits, you can go actively looking for help. You can coordinate and hit the Realm where you think it'll do the most good.  When it will do the most good as well.

If our boy is smart, he'll try to get some help. Not just from Solars in the Threshold, but with Lunars, with Barbarian tribes with a grudge against the Realm. In order to pull off a real rebellion, something that will free a lot of slaves, our boy is going to have to put down the pointy things, and get off his duff and start looking at it as a real leader, not just a single fight, but a campaign.

I doubt it would be like the Jews wandering around getting tormented by God. I just couldn't think of a better word for what I meant.
