Secrets

Matreania

Expect the unexpected, it expects you
Jonathan got the news easily inn the morning. His uncle was on a fishing trip and didn't come home. They found his body a few days later, but they didn't release any further details. He traveled through the sticks to reach his uncle's cabin, in order to retrieve his uncle's things, before the funeral the next day. His aunt was taking the news well, oddly enough, so was everyone else, but his little sister. He sighed as he returned to town, to the family gathering with his uncle's truck filled with his uncle's things.

May, making her way through town. Another hunter had been killed. She was going to pay her respects. The supernatural was making war on everyone. The hunters standing in the between everyone. Through it looked to like they were being killed off. The Marks family losing a good hunter, just two days ago. May pulls up in her black mustang. Putting it in park, she gets out. Making her way into the gathering. She was wearing black leather pants, black tank top and knee high boots. Her dirty blonde hair hanging down, around her shoulders. Slipping her sun glasses into her hair. She heads inside. Looking around at the family, going to his wife. She sits down, her tone even, "Sorry for your lost, he was a good man." His wife nods her head.

Johnathan walked into the gathering and noted a few people he didn't know. Some were about his age and then his father stood by his aunt. It was odd, to think that his mother and sister would miss this, but he had been told that some things were more important ten funerals. He sighed, as he went to the bar counter and placed the keys in the ashtray that they were kept in. He made his way to talk to his aunt and father. David and Michael had been dealing with keeping everything moving. Which meant they were in charge of the outside guest.

As May watched the room, her face impassive. She watched as the nephew of the one killed, walked over. Not all knew about the life of a hunter. Some where still in training. Though she hasn' know many that didn't know from a young age. But each family was different. She stayed sitting down. Most would learn and fast, how she was. This was just a normal for all hunters. She nodded her head at him.

Johnathan felt uneasy how some people seem to take little notice of the death. It was like it was all for show, before he sighed, "I brought the truck." he told his father.

His aunt smiled at him, hugging him tight for a moment before turning to his father, "I'll leave it to you." she nearly whispered before leaving Johnathan with his father.

"She seems well." Johnathan stated, looking around again.

His father impassively sighed, before taking his arm, "We have to talk, com eon." his father said, before noticing May. He stopped and smiled, May's father had helped him a lot and when May was born, before they could even remember, she had been Johnathan's playmate when they were on hunts. His father stepped towards the table and smiled down at May, "Glad you could make it. Do you mind joining us, upstairs?" he asked her.

May, looking up at his Johathans father, she was hard but she knew respect, and how to give. "It is the lest I could do." She wonder if he was going to bring his son in the hunting now. Standing up, "Sure." God she hoped she didn't have to babysit. That could get her killed, if he didn't know anything. She smiles a little at his father and him. Making her way up stairs. She finds a corner and leans in it. This was going to be something to see. Waiting for them to get there, she looked around the small room. Her impassive mask in place. She would help this family, because of the bonds of their families. Going back as far as she could remember.

Johnathan followed his father after her and his father smiled, motioning down the hall, "This way." he stated, leading the way to a meeting room that was small enough it only had a long table and 10 chairs around it. "Please seat down." he instructed them. Johnathan sat near the door, as he watched his father and the woman with concern. He wasn't sure what she had to do with anything, but he was not sure what he had to do with anything either.

May, makes her way to the table and sits down. Looking Johnathan, she did remember him. It had been a long time, they were so young. Though it looked as he didn't know who in the world she was. That was fine by her. A lot of things happened since the last time they were together. Pulling out a long thin knife from the side of her leather pants. She looks to his father, "So, are going to tell him now?" She starts to pick at her nails. Her voice holding as much respect. For the man that hunted with her father.

Johnathan looked at her with unease as she played with her knife, before looking back at his father, keeping one eye on the girl with the knife. "May, Johnathan,." his father introduced them, "May used to play with you a lot, Johnathan."

"Really? I played with her." he questioned.

his after sighed, before reaching under the table and pulling out a file, "You were best friends at one point, before everything started." his father explained. A lot of hunters are gong targeted, mostly because of what I'm about to show you. I'm showing this to you, because May, you have a reputation for being resilient and hard to kill, while Johnathan, you are new to this."

"This, what is this?" Johnathan stated.

"Remember everything I taught you about monsters and demons and ghost and myths?"

"Yeah, you tested me like every week, along with Michael and David."

"Well, those tests were real. I've had your brothers on several hunts and now it's your turn. May why don't you explain while I get everything set."

May, nodded his father. Her hard eyes looking to Johnathan. "Our families are what you would call hunters. We go out and kill things that would harm just plan humans." Her eyes going down to her nails again. "We never hunt alone. Though it is different for me. That is mostly what I do. And as your father said I am hard to kill. This is a life you can never get out of. Things hunt you down, you have to always be on your gard."

She sighs, "Well deal with all kinds of supernatural beings. Just like your father has said. Some aren't hard to kill, others are." She hated talking about her family. But here she needed to. "I lost my mother and father at a young age. They were on a hunt. And got caught unguarded." Her voice turning cold, "I was raised by a well known hunter." Her eyes looking back up to Johnathan, they had turn hard. "This is what you were born to do. And if you fuck up. I may not be able to save you. But if your father is wanting me, which I assume he does. You will be hunting with me."

She hated the thought of having another with her. Just someone that was wet behind the ears. But she was one of the best to show him. Besides his own family. This sounded like it had to do with, both of their families. So she would honor that. Just for Johnathan's family.

Johnathan looked her like she was crazy for a moment, "Have to be kidding me."

His father sighed, "Nope. I've been training you since you could walk and you are a natural hunter."

"Deer. Natural at hunting deer, bear, things like that." Johnathan corrected.

"Well, consider it a very powerful bear then." his father said, before putting a paper in front of each of them. "This is a small model of Noah's Arch, or at least that is what everything thought. Story goes Noah used the Arch to transport animals and people through a flood. That is somewhat true, point is, after he did what he needed, the arch was shrunk and placed in a child's hands. It's been passed down from dependents of Noah since the day it was first built. It's been stolen. Not really the important part, since artifacts like that get stolen everyday, but if this arch is placed in the holy water where is shrunk, it will grown again and then it'll flood the world. So I need you two to find and bring it back. Before that happens."

May laughed, "I will get his feet wet real quick. And don't worry I will make sure he comes home to you." Looking over the paper. "Just remember these bears don't give up easy." She smiked at him. "We will leave as soon as we can. I have everything I need. Looking to Jonathan, " Make sure you have everything. And all of this is true. It won't be a walk in the park either." He would learn that quick. "A lot will be after this. But nothing will stand in the way of us getting it." She always got what she was after. No matter what. Standing up with the paper. Folding it and putting it in her back pocket. "You have until night fall. And you can ride with me or not up to you."

Nodding her head to his father, "We will be in touch to let you know our progess on the mission." Shaking his hand, giving even a little hug to him. She walks out of the room. It was time to hunt. She smirked as she she walked down the hall.

Johnathan sighed, "Bossy, huh?"

His father smiled, "Maybe just a little, most female hunters are, it's a female thing. Just try not to get killed. your uncle had some notes, but we couldn't understand them."

"You mean those papers? I thought it was just a story line for his next book."

Johnathan sighed, as he got to his feel, "Isn't that why you sent me, because I do code so well."

His father smirked, "Take to David about weapons, and Michael will get you something special for a little kick."
