Fantasy School of Angels

Johnny R McAvery

Magic still exist for those willing to see.
Up towards Maine there is a rather large building, an old church as it was. It had been abandoned for over fifty years until a year ago a group of people began remodeling it. The Church retained much of its original architect but it looked more like a school that a church. And in fact a sign had been erected stating that is was a private high school, for students in need of a different form of education, it made it sound like was either for gifted children or children with needs, but what the sign actually was trying to say was that the school was trying a new way of learning. This was explained in the pamphlets that were released when the schools had been let out for summer. The pamphlets could easily be found around the town but they extended much farther in places as far away as California, and even in Canada, and down to Mexico. This was a unique school in more ways than one as some of the students would find out. This was a school of angels. This was a school of hope. This was a school for the future of mankind.

So yeah please post your two characters in the character place. Also remember this is a high school, so no little kids.

Daniel was freezing. The gentle fingers of ice slowly moving, caressing down his arm and shooting quickly, timidly almost, back down his spine. He gripped the edges of his peacoat's collar and brought them up with his shoulders as he shivered and let out a visible breath. Why does the school start its season in February? He thought. The small group of kids who had also gathered in front of the church seemed to admire his extensive baggage. His trumpet, tenor sax, xylophone, and most importantly his violin. This was the one that paid for the rest. He had street preformed, won contests, scrounged quarters and dimes until he bought all of his others. He shrugged back to normal, looking around he couldn't help but to feel as if he were nude. The peering eyes, which were almost all focused on which skirts to chase and fan clubs to start, felt as if they burned into him. He reached down and grabbed the handle of the upright tenor case. He turned it gingerly on its side and undid the two latches. He quickly assembled the beautiful horn and began to play . he drew in a cold breath, extending his otherwise concave stomach to a flat angle. The breath he drew soon turned into his own rendition of a marvelously transcribed Bach cello prelude No. 1. Eyes turned then, but it was no matter. He wasn't nude anymore.

(Great post. Just waiting on the others to post their characters)

Vayne got off of his moped, despite the fact that there was snow everywhere. He had an apartment a few blocks from here so he didn't mind the cold. Taking his helmet off he could hear the sound of some kid playing an instrument. It was a relaxing sound, but it was cold. So he trudged up the clean steps up to the school and tugged on the door. It opened and the warmth from within was welcoming. In fact he was a bit surprised that it was able to keep so warm.

In the conference room Dr. Maxwell sat at a large table, drinking a cup of coffee. The teachers were to have a quick meeting before classes, and as he waited for someone to open the topic he read through a science today article he had printed off. Perhaps it would give him an idea that needed.

Aella sits in the library as her father, Barachiel, greets a few parents dropping off their children. Aella reads a book about herbs and their medical properties. Her long dirty blonde hair is pulled up in a messy bun and she wears her reading glasses. She has her notebook out as she takes notes about each one. Barachiel waves goodbye to the parents he was talking to as Vayne walked up the stairs.

After packing up his instrument Daniel walked into the now open school. H he meandered hallway of the renovated church until he stumbled upon the smell of coffee and murmurings coming from the library. He walked in and saw the congregation. The only notable ones were the one with the nametag Dr. Maxwell and the stunningly beautiful blonde at a table to herself. She made Daniel feel uneasy, as all pretty women did. He quickly shrugged it off and approached Dr. Maxwell. After awkwardly setting down his baggage he spoke to him " Hey, Dr. Maxwell is it? Where are the dorms? I'm going to be a permanant resident for the season. "

"Ah hello. The dorms. Well this is move in day. You lot will have a minor class. For now you can leave your belongings here. We will get them to your rooms during orientation. It won't take long. Then we will give you a quick tour, followed by lunch, then we'll guide you to the dorms were you can spend the rest of the day at leisure." Said Dr. Maxwell as he rested the paper on the table and pulled another sheet of paper within his coat and handed it to the boy. "Here is the activities sheet for today. the orientation begins in one hour in the gym. Go down this hall and take the third door on the right."

Vayne heard all of that and nodded, not saying much and headed to the gym. He'd move his stuff slowly to the dorm's. The moped could only take so much at a time.

Barachiel walked back inside and found his way to Dr. Maxwell. "How are we doing so far?" he asked. He ruffled his hair a bit before rubbing his hands together from the cold. Aella looks over her shoulder to see her father. She gets up and walks over to him and Dr. Maxwell. "Aella," Barachiel smiles. "Hello Father," she greets with a small smile. "Hello Dr. Maxwell," she also greets politely.

He looked at the schedule. He had an hour, so he sat at a table to himself. He brought out a recent composition project of his, and began to write. Every now and again he shot uneasy glances at those in the room. He eventually stopped as he began to work. "So the transcription for..." His dribble faded into the afternoon chaotic buzz of the library.

"Hello Aella. Would you be nice enough to watch the others and hand out the pamphlets of today's schedule to new arrivals?" Asked Dr. Maxwell politely. He needed to talk to Barachiel alone.

Before Vayne the gym Vayne looked at Daniel "Nice playing out there. Don't know the tone but it was nice."

Aella nodded and took the pamphlet's from Dr. Maxwell. She then walked off to pass them out. "No talking to boys!" Barachiel said quickly as she walked away, almost missing her. She waved her hand in a way that said 'I am not listening to what you're saying.' He sighed and then turned to Maxwell.

Aella went into the gym and walked around. Aella saw a few boys and walked over to them. "Do you all have the schedule for today?" she asks looking bored and uninterested in what she's doing. She pushes a lock of her bangs behind her ear as she watches them with her bright blue eyes.

Daniel looked up from his work, which he was enthralled in. He saw the darker haired kid and quickly moved his hand behind his head and looked down gratefully at the praise. "Thanks. It is an older work by Bach. One of my favorites actually."

"Cool. Care to tell me more as we make it to the gym. I think the teachers are about to have a meeting. Probably need to do it without students." Said Vayne. He was a kind person, having dealt with several bullies himself in his past school. He also truly wanted to know more about what other music this kid liked. Vayne liked most forms of Rock music, but it really didn't extend out of it. He didn't hate classical, he simply didn't know much about it.

Aella handed them the pamphlets and moved on. She stood at the door to the gym and handed them out to the students who hadn't stopped by Dr. Maxwell. She looked forward and saw two boys coming her way.

Quickly packing his work back up, Daniel was gracious for the act of friendship. "Its an introdution to a suite." He said. Lifting his folder to his side. seeing the girl that made him an easy before as they made their way to the gym he quickly stopped his speech and looked down, being dreadfully insecure.he looked over at the boy and said,"I never got your name"

"Sorry. I don't think either one of us said. I am Vayne. I have been living her for about 3 months. Moved from California to here." He said offering his hand to the boy. Before the boy had a chance to drop some of his papers he took them and helped him carry them.

"Hey, sorry to interrupt, but do both of you have the schedule?" Aella asked when the two boys were in front of her. She held up the pamphlet so they knew what she was talking about. She was calm and reserved as she spoke.

He took Vaynes hand in a strength filled handshake and finally acknowledged the girl speaking to them" I have one , I don't know about him though"

Vayne took one from the girl and thanked her. "Hey I thought your dad, well I think he is your dad, said not to talk to boys." He was joking around, trying to get himself to feel more at ease with everyone. It had been a while since he had the feeling of fitting in.

Aella laughs once with a small smile, "Obviously I have to talk to the boys or else I'd be missing half of the students. He's just a little overprotective." She shrugs.

Daniel laughed at the sarcasm. And actually poked fun himself, " I know I look like a girl but come on!" He hoped making himself the butt of a joke would tone his slightly elitist side down, maybe to the extent they wouldn't see it. Besides, he had just met these people and already felt equal with them. Unlike others. He didn't know where he acquired it, but he always had this strange tendency to feel superior. For once, it wasnt the case.

"At least you know he loves you." Said Vayne who had always wished his parents had shown something like that towards him. "We can stand here with you. Make three of us. We can make sure others get it more easily. Besides it'd suck if you had be out here alone."

Dr. Maxwell looked at his fellow Co-worker. "I am ready for the others to get here. I expect we'll have some complications today, but it is our first times teaching such a young crowd."

"Thanks," she smiled gently. "My name's Aella by the way," she introduced. Maybe her dad was right to bring her here. It was weird, but she felt like for once she could actually open up to someone. All the other kids she's met before all felt different. Almost untrustworthy in a way. She just felt something click when she was here.

Daniel set his belongings on a table closs to the door and grabbed a stack of pamphlets. " So where are you guys from? You said something about California, " gesturing Vayne. "I'm from an orphanage down in southern Maine."

Vayne nodded. "Yep. California. Sucks on the orphan thing though."

(Dr. maxwell is talking to your angel Arabella. I can't spell his name right.))

"I'm from here. My father and I have lived her my entire life." Aella leaned against the door frame as she lazily flipped through the schedule, memorizing it. She put the pamphlet down and took out her messy bun, ruffling her long hair to help brush it out of tangles. She then left the hair tie on her wrist and let her long dirty blonde hair fall onto her shoulders.

oops missed it :P ) Barachiel nodded his head, "Yes. It should be interesting." Barachiel looked towards the door that lead to his daughter. "I'll have to keep a close eye on Aella..." he said quietly to himself. He could not stop worrying about his daughter. He then turned back to Maxwell, "Have the other teachers all arrived?"
