- — the school for good and evilWelcome students, to the School for Good and Evil! As many of you know, this is where we train future fairy tale heroes and villains. The majority of our new students are the children of our past graduates, hailing from kingdoms run by the good (otherwise known as Evers) or the evil (otherwise known as Nevers). However, there are a select four students who are known as "readers". These readers come from a land with no magic, called Gavaldon, where they assume our lives are simple stories. Well, as you will soon see, that isn't exactly true.
According to the people in this village, our world is a legend. The legend says that every four years, on the eleventh night of the eleventh month, four children, two good, two evil, are kidnapped by the School Master. Those children, varying in age and gender, will never return home again. Following the disappearance of the children, the book store owner received mysterious shipments of storybooks from an unknown messenger. After copying them by hand, he distributed them to the children of Gavaldon, who noticed that the paintings of the storybook children were identical to the missing. One year, the bookstore owner saw a stamp from the SGE on the box, and from then on, the kidnapper was known as "The Schoolmaster."
Now, it is finally time for the school year to begin! Soon, our new students will be dropped (or for our evers, gracefully placed) on our campus, and we can meet! Of course, there are some rules and general information we must go over before we begin.
As you may have guessed, this rp is based on the School for Good and Evil book series and movie. However, you do not have to have knowledge about any of that to join! Of course, I have changed quite a few things from the original material and we will not be following the plot. We don't currently have a set "big bad" or anything of that sort, the rp will begin with everyone meeting and getting used to the school. Eventually, I will create a bigger plot, but we don't have to worry about that for the moment.
This rp does require discord for ooc, which is linked here. Additional lore and other links will be provided through the discord, but the actual rp will be on rpn.
coded by natasha.aboutlorespotsrules - a bit more in depthBASICS
As I said, Gavaldon (or as the evers and nevers call it, The Woods Beyond) is the place in which all readers come from. It is surrounded by a thick woods and no one inside knows what is out there. This village is governed by the Council of Elders, three old men. Most worldbuilding for this will be done by our reader characters. However, there are a few things that are known about this place. There is a town square which contains the markets and a crooked clock tower. People generally live in cottages and are considered lower class, though they do have electricity (so basic lights) and plumbing (cause I don't want to deal with that shit. Get it?). The villagers are generally very superstitious and afraid of change in general, though they fear the "curse" in particular. The curse meaning the legend around the school master & school, of course. The only way to come to or from Gavaldon is through the schoolmaster's creatures.
Aside from the readers, the remainder of our students come from the kingdoms which are inside the endless forest, connected by paths. There are great dangers in these woods, especially if you stray off the paths. These kingdoms are governed by fairy tale characters, whether their tales have finished or are coming in the future. The lore around these kingdoms will be created by their inhabitants. The endless forest also has an entrance to the School for Good and Evil, though only the School Master and faculty are able to go back and forth.
TRUE LOVE
Of course, this couldn't be a fairy tale without true love. Of course, Evers are more likely to experience it, but Nevers are able to as well. This is typically romantic in nature, but can occasionally be friendship related. It's very difficult to know if one is experiencing true love, unless it is needed to break a curse or something similar. However, most students are consistently making an attempt to find these matches. For this rp, I encourage you to plot romances outside of potential true love matches, for drama purposes.
SCHOOLMASTER AND STORIAN
The Storian is a quill and book which transcribes all of our stories. It has a will of its unknown and it can move freely in the air. It can create ink to write the stories and it can conjure books to hold the fairy tales. The Storian is omnipotent and can document all fairy tales as they occur. Then pen is capable of defending itself, if it has to they can hurt (even kill) anyone who tries to flip back a few pages while writing a story or execute those who try and claim it. Currently, the Storian is protected by the Schoolmaster and held in their tower.
The Schoolmaster is a being who presides over both schools. Most everything is unknown about them, save for their rules and that they protect the storian.
KINGDOMS
The kingdoms which the majority of our characters hail from are going to be entirely based upon those characters.
Currently, the established kingdoms are:
Oz (technically another realm)
Wonderland (also a different realm)
Neverland (Realm kid pt 3)
Ulstead (Sleeping Beauty's kingdom)
Beauty and the Beast's Kingdom
Rapunzel's Kingdom
Snow White's Kingdom
FAIRY TALES
Aside from the four reader characters, all of the students will be the children of previous students who went on to be in fairy tales. That being said their parents don't necessarily have to be leading characters in these fairy tales, they can be anyone who resides in the world of fairy tales. For example, a character could be the child of Cinderella, or the child of a random person who attended the ball in the story. Multiple characters can come from the same story, but you likely will have to work together.

-Realistic fcs, meaning people. Whether that's AI generated people, models, or actors depends on your comfort level. Please be sure that, if you are using a real person, that they have never said they don't feel comfortable being used as fcs. One of these that I know is used often for this genre is Adelaide Kane. If someone is using a fc that you know feels this way, please let me know privately and I will make sure that gets fixed.
-Also, try to make your fcs realistic age-wise. All our characters should be highschool age, so your fc shouldn't have a full beard. Ya know?
-Make the thread as dramatic as possible if you please, but make sure that your character always has adequate reasoning behind what they do.
-Feel free to have your character keep secrets from their classmates and other rpers! Just make sure that I am clued in. One example of this could be keeping elements of their history secret and not on their cs, but you would have to dm me before being accepted.
-No self inserts please. I understand that all characters have a bit of us in them, but no characters with your name, exact personality, etc. As this is a thread very specifically about character's flaws, their deepest desires, and how to face their fears, I think it could be difficult if you're character is based entirely on yourself.
-Be prepared to write at least two-three paragraphs per character. If you only make one paragraph regularly, just make sure your quality is good.
-As I said, the lore for kingdoms which the students are from will be built by their rpers. For any given kingdom, the ruler's kids will be able to make most final decisions.
-When the rp begins, none of the characters will have magical abilities unless given special permission. That being said, all of their fairy tale parents must be human.
-Try to keep genders even
