2014. Helendale Prepatory Middle School, popularly nicknamed 'Hell Prep', was a school in East Los Angeles known to take in troubled youth as a disciplinary action. Over time, it's become more of a playground for these kids and rather than reforming them--the kids have mostly reformed the school and staff to put up with their behavior. Most of these people are kids who are homeless, have troubled home lives, drug addictions, or terrible academic history and more. Some are just there to get through middle school in one piece and had no choice, but to go to the school they were zoned to attend.
Following the lives of these 14-year old kids, in school and out of school. Los Angeles is a notorious place for trouble and fun. Navigating through middle school isn't easy already, but bad influences and hectic environments could prove to be make-it-or-break it moments in these kids futures as well as LOTS of memories to be made.

welcome! this sort of a spin-off of my 'growing up in seattle roleplay' except just a more emo/punky middle school version. **LGBTQ+ & Disability/Disorder friendly, almost encouraged actually as I fit under all of those qualities lol and it makes it more realistic** basically this will all just be character development of kids growing up with crazy lifestyles around them or crazy life styles they themselves have that influence others. this is an interest check for now and if enough people want to join then ill make an ooc / character sheet / main thread. if you've seen skins, euphoria or specifically movies like 'thirteen' then you'll know what sort of direction im going with this rp.
very nostalgic about the 'growing up' trope, hopefully others will feel similarly and we'll all get some good plots out of this
i will say if you're not into thorough character development, high/low emotions, complex characters and plots then this might not be for you.

ex: doesn't give a fuck about what anyone thinks, but more in a way that she's just trying to keep the peace and spread good energy. a bit of a hippie. totally positive and a good friend to have. similar to the thrill-seeker in a way that she's always trying new experiences or does things on impulse for the hell of it. naturally smart and creative.

ex: more of a good kid in sorts if you compare him with the others. does well in school. romantic. wants a better life for himself. in relationships or close friendships, is overprotective or easily jealous. kind of like an all-American kid trope. probably does sports. definitely loves to party, but is a little wary with drugs or illegal activities.
girl-next-door

ex: a good kid. super friendly and sort of a mom-friend. tries to find the positive in everything. however, maybe a bit naive and lets things go farther than they should sometimes. a golden heart. always there for her friends. a bit guarded when it comes to love and plays it off like she doesn't care, but is secretly a hopeless romantic.

1. would appreciate if everyone participating in this role play irl was at LEAST 17+.
2. be mature. be realistic.
3. no god-modding, pm other users before doing something big with/to their character.
4. no overly negative traits or overly positive traits. there's good and bad in everyone.
5. these are kids going into high school and I know in this sort of setting some would be more mature than others especially because of things they've gone through, but just sort of be realistic in how they respond to situations.
6. follow the site rules. drug use, dark themes and illegal activities can be discussed in rp, but not s*xual themes whatsoever. fades please if anything.
7. use real face claims.
